can any one able to tell me, is there a maximum number of allowable users on the database? And if so, if someone is trying to logon to Connect but the database is at the number of maximum users, what sort of error message will they receive?

Depends on the context of the question. Are you asking about legal (i.e. licensing) limits? Or physical and logical limits of the hardware or software configuration?

By "monitoring" if you mean the checking the configured part, following is the navigation
SOLMAN-->DBACOCKPIT-->Configuration-->Server configuration-->Memory Use-->number of user connections
If you are looking for "dynamic" usage of this parameter,
using DB02-->Performance -->Dash board-->Connections
will give you information of active, free and reuse count values.
Also,sp_monitorconfig "number of user connections"
will give you same results using isql.

I am getting the below error for optimizer SEQ in SCM 7.0 EHP3 system.
"Maximum number of user for server SEQ module exceeded"
But the RFC connection works fine and all are green in /sapapo/opt03.
Should I increase the user in /sapapo/opt03? for SEQ..and on which column...Maximum slot?

50 users per device, assuming that the "main" router is setup to deliver an adequate number of network IP addresses for all devices.
2 AEBS = 100 users, but that is really more of a theoretical max.
If you really need 100 connections, it would be much better to use 3 AEBS to spread things out.

Aironet Maximum Number of Users

What is the maximum number of users that one Aironet would allow without the disruption of service?

Lightweight APs have a default limit of 12 clients per AP, but this can be changed. Cisco recommends no more than 25 clients per AP, but it can easily handle more. How many more simply depends on your conditions.
Keep a few things in mind:
1. Your actual data rate is generally a little less than half your advertised rate (22Mbps on a 54Mbps link, for example)
2. You're sharing the ACTUAL data rate with every other client on the AP. So if 20 users are sharing a 54Mbps connection, they'll all get barely over 1Mbps
3. Any slow clients, 802.11b or otherwise, take more time to communicate with the AP and thus slow all other clients down
4. RF space is a shared medium, and congestion avoidance mechanisms in 802.11 start creating a LOT of overhead as you increase client count significantly. This starts dropping your actual data rate, so you might start getting only ~15Mbps on a 54Mbps connection.
All that said, I doubt you'll start seeing disconnects until you hit client numbers in the 30s. But again, take all the above into consideration as you evaluate your environment, your application delay tolerance, and your bandwidth requirements per user.

In Essbase propreties, the system is showing maximum planning users could be 65535.
what would be the number for concurrent scenario?

The number of users would be based on your license agreement with Oracle, the system is not aware of your license agreement so it is up to you to stick to it.

Agree with Keith, there is no MB # limit, however there are practical concerns such as DB size and how that effects recoverability as well as performance. In terms of extremes we had one major educational customer that had 35K Mailboxes in
a single database so you can utilize a ridiculous # of mailboxes in a DB if desired. IMO you are better off to keep the # of mailboxes to a reasonable level, i.e. no more than 250-500 mailboxes per DB

I've also learnt that the number of Alias tables is more than the previous versions. What is the maximum number of Alias tables in Planning version 11.1.2 ?

Maximum number of alias tables is 10 including the default alias table
As for custom dimensions then I wouldn't expect you to hit a maximum unless you want to design a planning application destined to fail.

Limiting the number of users/connections

We currently have a very large user community (120000)who will be accessing the portal for ESS/MSS functionality.
We would like to limit the number of users to around 20000. Any more connections should get a nice error message (rather than a standard IE no more connections or a time out message).
We can obviously throttle the number of connections via the load balancer or via max connections in unix. Is there any method in the Portal itself, that will automatically direct the users to a seperate web page in the event of pre determined number of users/connections being reached.
I have search high and low but can't find a solution.

Hi Tim,
No, there is nothing like this as a standard functionality within the portal. Similar requests are regulary asked on SDN (like: restrict the number of users logging in as you ask, restrict the number of parallel logins of one user, and things like this).
A possibility would be to implement your own login module which tries to check how many users are online. All techniques - independent if on portal or on WAS side - that try to count this have the problem that they cannot be sure who is "online" as you have no definite information if a user is online or not; one can only use more or less heuristic methods.

Current Sessions is the current total number of open sessions for each application. Yes, you can use JMX or WLST within a script.
The WebAppComponentRuntimeMBean mbean of your application provides this information through OpenSessionsCurrentCount attribute.
For instance, in WLST enter:
wls:/my_domain/serverRuntime/ApplicationRuntimes/my_application/ComponentRuntimes/my_app> cmo.getOpenSessionsCurrentCount()

Maximum Number of users in a "User Group" (SU01/Logon data/User Group)

All,
My security person recently approached me with a problem she has regarding user groups. She wants to assign user groups so that way division leaders/designees can handle password resets within their own area. To do this she has started using the "User Group" field in SU01/Logon data.
She's told me the maximum number of users she can add to a "User Group" is 30. Can anyone else confirm this? Is there a setting (profile or otherwise) to increase this limit? Any DSN or outside reading that anyone can refer me to on this matter?

By the way, hitting F4 on a user input field in SU10 will also provide you with the possibility to select more than 30 users in one go.

There is no inbuildt mechanism available. But you should write an external service (servlet or EJB) which maintains the count of users . And in your WebDynpro application use the life cycle methods to control the access.
Like in wdInit() you can check the current count of users and if its more than 1000 then you can display message otherwise show the view and increment count. In the same way in wdExit() call the service to decrease the count.
