Maximum playback size of a Quicktime file?

Is there a way to limit the maximum playback size of a Quicktime file?  For instance, if I have a SD file, is there something on output or in the metadata that I can set that will only ever allow it to play at 720x480 and never go "full screen"?

Sorry but no...

  • Posting Again: How do you reduce a file size on a quicktime file?

I have a 16.9 meg movie in quicktime, and am trying to export it so I can upload a smaller version online. Whenever I try to export it using various quicktime settings, there's no audio on the exported file. I'm selecting Export from the File menu, then Standard Video Compression settings of H.264, optimized for streaming, most recent settings, quicktime movie to quicktime movie.
To reduce a movie, or shrink it, what are the best settings to use? Or even settings that work? I posted this a few days ago and there weren't any responses so I'm trying again. Please help.

I've been using MPeg Streamclip to export the files as a quicktime movie. And there is sound. But the thing is, the file sizes are huge. Last export was 160 megs...too big to put on a web page. So I'm interested in shrinking that. I tried ISquint, but it converts it into an MPeg movie, and I'd like to keep it as a quicktime file for the website. Whenever I export using Quicktime, and I've updated to the most current version, there's no sound. If anyone knows of a good way to reduce the file size, either using MPeg Streamclip, or any other shareware or freeware programs, please let me know.

  • Is there a maximum viewport size for an EPUB file in iBooks?

I have noticed that very large viewports sometimes cause iBooks to crash. Is there a maximum size allowed?
    thanks,
    Liz

The viewport size I use is 512px wide by 768px high for my individual .xhtml pages.  For a two-page spread this would mean the viewport is actually 1024px by 768px.
Yet I paint my original images for a Children's Read Aloud Fixed Layout ePub at 2048px wide by 1536px high and then cut the painting in half for a two page spread.  This means on the new retina display, my images will look great yet be backward compatible with the original iPad.

  • Is there a way to shrink the size of a quicktime file? NO SOUND?

Whenever I try to share the item, there's no sound. Whenever I try export, same result Does anyone know the settings to export from quicktime pro that will preserve the sound? I've tried this on two different computers. I have a 16.9 meg file and I want to reduce it so I can upload it to the web. Please help. Thanks.

If it's a muxed MPEG, you need to use MPEG Streamclip to export it; no setting in QuickTime Pro will preserve the sound. Click here for more information.

  • Windows Quicktime File Size Limitation?

I corrected an error in the subject of my Message
Is there a file size limitation on Quicktime files in Windows?
I made two H.264 HD Quicktime movie files of ~ 1 Gb and ~2.1 GB respectively.
Both movies play fine on my new MacBook Pro.
Only the smaller of the two plays on a Windows Vista laptop.
Is there a 2 GB Limit on QT file sizes in Windows?

    Dear Kirk:
    Thanks for responding.
The 2.1 GB file seems to have copied to the Windows Vista Laptop OK,
but the H.264 movie was not recognized as a movie by Quicktime/Windows.
    Note: movie did have chapters.
I have made a new version without chapters at a lower data rate which is 1.6 GB.
I will try it the next chance I get.

  • Is there a maximum file size for Quicktime files?

I am trying to make a Quicktime file of 40 gig size, but it keeps failing

in case you're exporting to a fat32-formatted media, those have a 4GB-per-file limitation...
    but QT? No, no limits.

  • How do I get an embedded quicktime file to appear "activated" w/playback & volume upon opening PDF?

I am new to adobe acrobat, and I'm using version 8.  I am trying to insert quicktime videos in a PDF File.  I have figured out how to insert the video files and embed them in the PDF.
However, when I save the PDF, close it, and then re-open the it, the quicktime file does not appear.  If I don't use a poster image, then it is just blank where the file is, but the file is there, and when I click on the empty space where I know that it has been embedded a dialog box opens about playing it just this once, or making it a trusted file, etc.  Then it plays, and the volume and playblack controls, along with the background, are visible. (it is actually just an audio track in a quicktime file, so nothing is playing but the audio, and the background is solid black.  I have set it up so that it stays there once activated.
What I want is for the volume and playblack controls and the black background to appear as soon as you open the PDF file, without having to click in the blank area where the file has been inserted.  This is going to be part of a portfolio that I am submitting for a school program, so I need the person that is opening it to be able to clearly see where the file is, and see the playblack and volume controls so that he can playback the file.
So how do i get the embedded quicktime file to automatically show up in "activated" mode, with the playback and volume controls visible and ready to be used?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks...

If the video is only linked it would reduce the file size of the pdf and it would make it accessible for people opening on a device (like iPad) which does not allow flash which must be installed with Acrobat to view embedded media.
But I would recommend to send the people only a link to the PDF. I hate it, when my iPhone filled with useless stuff, if I would like to see it I could donwload, but as attachment make my space overfilled.

  • Premiere CS4 playback .mov (quicktime file) in Mac

    Hi,
I recently acquired CS4 and the latest loaded Macbook Pro 2.66 GHz. I have problem with playing back .mov file - which obvisouly main NLE format for Mac. I've been testing with 15 seconds 1920 x 1080 clip - size about 150 MB which I transcoded from AVCHD via Cineform/TMPGEnc (PC)/VoltaicHD. Regardless of any transcoders I use, when I playback the file in the Source window, video is stuttered and very choppy. Rendering certainly helps that I can play nicely in the timeline but the major problem is that I cannot work with multi-cam monitor on. With only two .mov clips on multi-cam, it is way too stuttered and choppy that there's no way I can work with.  HDV footages captures directly from my Z5U works flawless even with editing mult-cam monitor - which obviously not .mov file. I even tested the same clip transcoded into .avi and it plays back nicely with multi-camera monitor on my old PC (Core2 2.0 GHz) running Premiere Pro 2.0. Thought it is Premiere Memory Management issue dealing with quicktime file (.mov).
Does anyone has the same issue working with .mov file for editing multi-cam? I'm so stressed out for the last few days - I want to go back to FCP instead. Thanks!

    Dan,
Forget about using CS4 for multicam HDV streaming. I decided to go
back FCP 6. I tried all the intermediate codec with various file sizes
for playing back multicam stream in CS4 but none of them working.
Either playing back is very choppy stuttered or doesn't play back at
all.  CS4 is not the right program for Mac. Funny thing is it works
flawlessly on PC which is less powered than my Macbook Pro. They
shoudnt release it for Mac.  Sorry I couldnt help you much. Please let
me know if you find a solution for this.  Good luck.

  • Export QuickTime file with new audio and maintain the file size and quality as the original.

I shot some footage for a client yesterday and ran into an issue. To make a long story short I have QuickTime mov files shot with my Panasonic GH4 that have a buzzing sound in the audio track. I have clean audio from a recorder that can be sync'd. Is there a way for me to do this for the client and deliver them as the same QuickTime file but with the clean audio and keep the file size close to the original and not have quality loss in the image?
If so I will probably put all of the spanned clips together from each interview and sync the audio before delivery. I am just not sure which codec will give the client the same quality footage compared to the originals and not have a massive difference in the overall file size. They did request that they be Quicktime MOV files though so that is a must.
I don't see this as an option in the codecs in the export settings in PP, but is there a way to export as ProRes or another MAC native codec that will save them from having to convert it on their end? I am on a PC with Adobe CS5.5 so I am not too familiar with MACs, but from what I understand they would need to convert the files if I sent them straight out of the camera.
I found some related search results for this but they pertained to "Best quality" for export. I am not sure how the varying options work but I don't want to create files that are considerably larger, just not less quality.
If anyone has experience with this it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Cole

Here's the workflow: I imported the video footage into iMovie '08 and did my edits. Then I exported it (share) to my desktop with compression set @ 740 X 480. Then I used QuickTime Pro to fix the audio track. The file plays perfectly with both audio tracks working. It's a QuickTime file (.mov).
I hope this jars any replies as to why the file when uploaded to my iWeb gallery drops the second audio track.
    Hmm,

  • Maximum input payload size(for an XML file) supported by OSB

    Hey Everyone,
I wanted to know, what is the maximum payload size that OSB can handle.
The requirement is to pass XML files as input to OSB and insert the data of the XML files in the oracle staging tables. The OSB will host all the .jca, wsdl, xml, xml schema and other files required to perform the operation.
The hurdle is to understand, what is the maximum XML file size limit, that OSB can allow to pass through without breaking.
I did some test runs and got the following output,
Size of the XML file:  OSB successfully read a file of size, 3176kb but failed for a file of size 3922kb, so the OSB breakpoint occurs somewhere between 3-4 MB, as per the test runs.
Range of number of Lines of XML:  102995 to 126787, since OSB was able to consume a file with lines (102995) and size 3176kb but broke for a file with number of lines (126787) and size 3922kb.
Request to please share your views on the test runs regarding the OSB breakpoint and also kindly share the results, if the same test has been performed at your end.
    Thank you very much.

  • Maximum size of an swf file of an Application

    Hi ,
Ours is a Intra Net Application would be launched as a Product  ,and can be  used with in an Organisation .
The Project would be developed using FLEX 3 as Front End , blazeds in Tomcat , JDBC with Oracle for backend .
Please tell me what should be considerded as the maximum size  of the swf file so that everything would be fine
    Please share your views .
    Thnaks in advance .

With Flex you don't need to bother about sizing. If you keep your layout liquid (keeping your application and it's components use size in %) it will serve the purpose. All you need to make sure is that the size of your components is not going below minimum size requirement. To ensure this, you can use minSize property as shown below.
    <mx:HDividedBox minWidth="500" width="100%" height="100%">
    </mx:HDividedBox>
Now the width of this component will not go below 500 pixels. And when the application is viewed in higher resolution, it will use the extra space available as the width is given as 100%.

  • Illustrator - Maximum allowed size of variable library xml file loaded from variables palette?

    Hi-
One question I can’t seem to find the answer to anywhere – any idea on what the maximum size xml file one can use when making data driven graphics in Illustrator?
I can successfully batch when I load a single variable library with about 100 datasets at one time but anything much larger than that in the same xml format gives me a “the incoming variable library is invalid” error. Elsewhere on this discussion forum I have seen answers say there is no limit to the size of the XML file. (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/647934). But my experience with Illustrator CS5 says otherwise.
I have thousands I need to create. Any help would be most appreciated.
    1. If there is a maximum size either in file size, number of datasets, or number of variables/values, please share what the limit is.
    2. I still need to create thousands of the final document I am creating - if the limit is close to 100 and I need to create many thousands - any suggestions on either scripting or other methods to get this done?
    Thanks,
    Michael

  • Quicktime playback staggers on large HD files

    Quicktime  7.6 Pro
Playback staggers and skips frames on large files (1920x1080 1.5GB. .mov files)
VLC also staggers but plays better than QT?
I have to run files through Compressor for smooth playback.
Do i need a graphics card for smooth playback?

Apple make a program "Aperture" and that program can make slide shows of your photos.
Thanks for pointing that out. Although I am an Aperture user, I use it exclusively for photo file management and adjustments and did not even realize I could make slideshows with it.
    Jon:
I see you know what your saying can you help with this one  same sort of thing.
Sorry for taking so long to respond. Once I read your post, I had to go back and run some tests in Aperture before making an answer.
I made a 5min slideshow and previewed it in Aperture it worked fine.  So I clicked export and exported it to 1080p .MOV file (a quicktime movie file), Aperture dose not have any setting for this just click and go.  The final file plays fine on VLC but is choppy on Quicktime.  WHY?
    1) The "slideshow" played in Aperture is, for the most part, a live "'tween" simulation of the file that will be created and saved as a QT video slideshow. The "'tween" is basically a set of instructions telling the computer how to morph two or more images and render the results to the screen.
    2) "'Tween" videos can be stored as comparatively small files and were originally used to create/view slideshows but these videos had/have compatibility issues with some of the evolving apps based on the "modernized" version of QT. The process of "exporting" your Aperture slideshow tells QT to create "snapshots" of the "morphed" images at fixed intervals in time and store them as physical video frames in a real QT "movie" file (i.e., not a QT file containing photo tracks with a "'tween" track telling the media player "how" to render/display morphing data). This "real" QT file is much larger than the "'tween" file and is the basic source of playback problems on older and/or slower platforms that cannot process (render and display) the data as fast as the platform can read it and the media application is told to play it.
    3) VLC and the various QT-based media players are written to function differently with different goals in mind. In some cases the algorithms included in VLC are much more efficient than those in QT and vice versa. As I am not involved in the VLC project I have no specific input regarding the actual differences that allow it to process and render your slideshows faster/better than QT. You might remember, however, that one of the goals of VLC playback compatibility is the playback of Blu-ray disc content while Apple has yet to release any BD player app based on the QT structure embedded in any version of OS X.
    4) Most Aperture export options are "presets" with fixed settings pre-programmed into them—e.g., the "1080p" option created a non-anamorphic 1080p30 file using the H.264 "best" quality auto-data rate Main Profile@Level 5 encode settings. On my system, this meant my sample file had a data rate on the order of 40 Mbps. To put this in perspective, a Microsoft 1080i60 VC-1 Blu-ray disc has a typical data rate of 30 Mbps, and a typical MPEG-4/AVC 1080p60 Blu-ray disc has an average data rate on the order of 20 Mbps. Thus, if your 5 minute file encoded in a manner similar to my test, your file is trying to play the equivalent of two Blu-ray discs simultaneously in terms data throughput. And, while my system's hardware configuration did not seem to have any playback problems, my initial guess would be that your video card(s), CPU(s), system clocking, or other issue may be preventing smoothest playback through the QT media player but is being much more efficiently handled by the VLC software.
can I put the file though some other program to make it more compatible(I know it already compatible I mean, it will not run smooth on QT) with Quicktime to give smother playback?
Yes, but my best recommendation at this point would be to make your slideshows more QT player compatible by reducing the file's overall video data rate in your Aperture export. While there may not be any user options using the "1080p" selection, you can switch your workflow to the "Custom" Aperture export option and run some tests on your own system to see it it improves matters and to what extent. In case you are interested, here are the results of my tests. Recommend you download the files for testing and comparison on your system rather than playing them via the default browser plug-in.
The following sample slideshow test files were created from unretouched photos taken by my daughter-in-law using her Sony compact digital camera and can be downloaded to your system for playback test comparisons:
    http://downloads.walker4.me/downloads/Temporary_files/Jul%209,%202013.mov
The above file was created using the Aperture "1080p" preset. It is a 1080p30 H.264/PCM (38.9 Mbps/1.41 Mbps) [email protected] CAVLC encoded file. The file plays fine on my system in both QT player apps. (File provided as a baseline sample comparison with your "1080p" file export.)
    http://downloads.walker4.me/downloads/Temporary_files/Jul%209,%202013-Custom-B.m ov
This is a "Custom" encoding for the same sample slideshow project as depicted above. It is basically the same encoding as the file above but with frame rate reduced to 24fps but keeping the "Best" quality level setting making it a 1080p24 H.264/PCM (31.7 Mbps/1.41 Mbps) [email protected] CAVLC encoded file. (File provided to see if the data rate reduction that resulted from decreasing the number frame "snapshots" taken each second while keeping each snapshot's quality level constant plays any smoother on your system. I.e., this is a way to minimally reduce the target data rate in Aperture slideshow export work flow.)
    http://downloads.walker4.me/downloads/Temporary_files/Jul%209,%202013%20Custom-M .mov
This is another "Custom" encoded file. In this case, the frame rate and the quality settings were changed. Most people seem to think exporting at the hightest possible "Quality" setting will produce the best playback results. Unfortunately this is not always the case if the final result then includes or creates new problems. Most files can be encoded using a "Medium" quality setting with little or no reduction in visual playback. Here the exported file is a 1080p24 H.264/PCM (5.72 Mbps/1.41 Mbps) [email protected] CAVLC medium quality file. (This file was included here so you could compare playback smoothness on your system when the encoded data rate is more aggressively reduced using the built-in Aperture user settings.)
    http://downloads.walker4.me/downloads/Temporary_files/Jul%209,%202013%202.mov
It is, of course, also possible to use the iPhoto app to export your slideshows. This work flow also has a "Custom" export option but it allows me to access an "Eport Movie to QT Movie" option which has many additional user options. This file is such an export. In this case the file is a 1080p24 Multi-pass H.264/AAC (16.6 Mbps/0.128 Mbps) [email protected] CAVLC file with Quality level set to "High." key frame frequency of 24, frame reordering is on, and with the data rate set automatically (but could have just as easily be set to a manual limit and optimized for CD/DVD or streaming use and/or included any of the available system filters/special effects).
In any case, you can download and compare my files or create and compare a number of your own files using any of the work flows mentioned. Good luck, and let us know if this fixed your problem.

  • Maximum Video Size in Flash??

    Hello,
I'm currently working on a website design. The idea is a big chromakeyed interactive video in Flash. The size of the video is 1080 (width) x 1500 (height) pixels.
I've exported the video in After Effects with the standard settings for flash (File>Export>Adobe Flash Player(SWF)). Now when I import the video in Flash and preview the file, the video plays in a slower speed and it's not playing smooth at all...
Is the video too big? Is there a maximum video-size to keep the video running correct in Flash? Is it something else that causes this problem..???
I hope one of you guys can help me with this, hope to hear from you soon!

Could be a mismatch of frame rates. For example, if you are using 30 fps in AE and 24 in Flash, and then you embed the video into the time line, it will play at 24 fps, slow and jerky.
However if the video file was a .flv and you played the video by NetStream or FLVPlayback, it would playback at 30 fps, even if the Flash doc had a fps of 24.
If that doesn't fix it, try exporting the file from AE as an flv.
    Best wishes,
    Adninjastrator
