Maximum RAM for latest Macbook Model? (May 2007)

According to Apple the maximum RAM supported is 2GB. However as you can see on https://eshop.macsales.com/shop/MemoryBenchmark/AppleMacBook/ the Macbook can take up to 4GB!
Does anybody know the real hardware limit of the Macbook?

It only uses 3 gb but if you use 4 gb you have balanced RAM for best graphics speed.

as you noticed, 4gb maximum ram support is for gl40 chipsets.
gm45 supports 8gb but it doesn't mean your computer will support it due to there may be bios limitation.
ps: you can install 4 gb ram into the ram slot but you may not install 2x 4gb, maybe 2+4gb.

Oracle database maximum CPU & RAM support

Ok, I've hunted high and low on oracle.com, OTN and the newsgroups before I came here so please bear me on this very basic question.
As a consultant, I've been asked a number of times by customers:
1. What is the maximum number of CPUs an Oracle 8i/9i database STANDARD edition supports?
2. Is the number the same for Unix and NT?
3. What is the maximum amount of RAM supported by the STANDARD edition database?
4. Again, is it the same for Unix and NT?
Sorry if this is very basic stuff but strangely, after having been an Oracle user for 7 years, I never knew this info.

I don't think the previous response caught the Standard Edition part of your question.

4. Again, is it the same for Unix and NT?I don't know of a max but that doesn't mean there isn't one.
Standard Edition also doesn't have the advanced replication, VLDB, parallel processing and OLAP features that Enterprise Edition has,
along with some other things.

It looks like you have got an Early 2011 or newer MacBook Pro, so you can use 16 GB of RAM. You can buy more RAM at OWC or Crucial. Remember that you cannot upgrade RAM in MacBooks Pro with Retina display
In case you have got a Mid 2010 MacBook Pro, you can only install 8 GB of RAM

I had the same model: officially it'll support 3 GB RAM; some people added 4 GB and it ran fine, but it will only address about 3.2 GB. I decided that wasn't worth it and made do with 3 GB.

Maximum Ram in i7 Pro

Hi,
Does anybody know the maximum RAM the i7 pro is capable of please?
the website says: two SO-DIMM slots support up to 8GB
not sure if that means 8GB each, or 8GB total

Apple says max RAM is 8GB (it's two 4GB modules one in each of only two slots), stock 4GB is two 2GB modules, but the new 2011 machines can actually hold 16GB as the memory makers just came out with two 8GB modules. (you only have two slots)
The price for 16GB is currently about $900, but it was $1500 several weeks ago at OtherWorld Computing, so it's coming down slowly.
The price for 8GB over at Crucial is about $80 last time I've checked.
I'm waiting for the 16GB to come down in price, instead of getting 8GB and opening my machine twice and wasting $80 in the process.
I'm also waiting for $200 1TB SSD, be waiting a LONG time...

Maximum RAM for 17-inch PowerBook

Apple says that the maximum RAM I can put in this machine is 1 Gig. I saw in another discussion that some say I can double that. Does anyone know if this is true, and can you point me to the supporting documentation?

If you fear getting the wrong RAM, shopping at brick-n-mortar electronic superstores and office supplies is a good way fuel your fear and waste money. Buy online from long-established vendors of Mac RAM. These sites will have a web "configurator" to precisely identify your computer and the RAM it needs.

Other people like Crucial.com; their stuff is high quality and they are among the oldest venders. I've also heard good things about Ram Direct from experience Mac forum members.

Maximum RAM - x60s

Hi,
I'm after some advice please. I have a X60s 1702 with the 1.5GHz dual core processor fitted with 2Gb of RAM. I was thinking of adding some additional memory but, depending on which advice I read, either 2Gb is the max it's possible to fit OR I could fit 2 x 2Gb memory modules.
Could anyone give me the categorical answer over the maximum RAM it's possible to fit?

Notebook specifications are often wrong when it comes to maximum RAM.
I think the reason for this is that the specifications show maximum widely available RAM at the time of release of the notebook.
The X61 is a case in point. The X61 specifications clearly say "Supports maximum memory up to 4GB". But the X61 clearly supports 8GB, as does the X61s.
I've upgraded two of my recent laptops well beyond the specified maximum.
Unfortunately I can't find any evidence that anyone has tried 8GB in an X60!
Maybe you want to be the early adopter?
Oh and just as a reminder to anyone following along, you will need a 64 bit OS to see all 8GB.

Early 2008 Macbook (4,1) maximum RAM per port

I have an early 2008 macbook white 2.4Ghz, or the macbook 4,1 and I understand that the maximum RAM that this model will support is 4GB.
It used to have 2x2GB RAM running on it but recently one of the slots stopped working and the computer wouldn't boot unless I took the RAM out of the slot. That leaves my computer running on just 1x2GB RAM.
The computer has been very slow since then and I was wondering if I could install 1x4GB RAM in the remaining working slot, will it make my system any quicker? Also, if I were to replace the hard disk with a SSD, would it be faster as well?
Where can I find the maximum capacity of each RAM slot?

The Early 2008 MacBook supports 4 GB of memory officially, but you can install 6 GB of memory. This means that you can use a 4 GB module, so you can put a 4 GB module. There's no problem with this.
You can buy more memory at OWC or Crucial
