Maximum RAM - x60s

Hi,
I'm after some advice please.  I have a X60s 1702 with the 1.5GHz dual core processor fitted with 2Gb of RAM.  I was thinking of adding some additional memory but, depending on which advice I read, either 2Gb is the max it's possible to fit OR I could fit 2 x 2Gb memory modules.
Could anyone give me the categorical answer over the maximum RAM it's possible to fit?
 Thanks very much,
S-M

Notebook specifications are often wrong when it comes to maximum RAM.
I think the reason for this is that the specifications show maximum widely available RAM at the time of release of the notebook.
The X61 is a case in point. The X61 specifications clearly say "Supports maximum memory up to 4GB". But the X61 clearly supports 8GB, as does the X61s.
I've upgraded two of my recent laptops well beyond the specified maximum.
Unfortunately I can't find any evidence that anyone has tried 8GB in an X60!
Maybe you want to be the early adopter?
Oh and just as a reminder to anyone following along, you will need a 64 bit OS to see all 8GB.

    hi StefanThePribic,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
If you system model has two overlaying slots
It should work with 8 GB    two 4GB cards

  • Please settle this discrepancy once and for all re: maximum ram.

My old iMac SE DV graphite was purchased and delivered in January, 2000. The original order catalog (which I kept) claimed that it was "expandable to 512mb", as were all the 400mhz G3 slot-loading DV models in various 'flavors' including my Graphite Special Edition model. Also, both / all versions had the ATIRage 128 accelerator with 8mb SDRAM.
The only differences I can discern are that my Graphite has more ram (128mb) and had a slightly bigger hard drive (13GB on the graphite vs 10GB for the 'fruit').
Note: I have since replaced the hard drive with a 20GB since the original died within the first 2 years.
On this disussion site and other places (including MacWorld articles) I've seen conflicting statements as regards the MAXIMUM RAM my graphite should/could have. Some say 1GB (2x512) and some say 512 (2x256).
Can anyone once and for all, settle this question for me so that I can make an intelligent purchase?
(and thank you for the info re: PC100 as the way to go, not PC133)
    Thanks & Peace to all.

At the time of its release Apple certified it for 512 MBs probably because larger DIMMs weren't available. In fact you can expand it to a max of 1 GB (two 512 MB DIMMs.) You will need 2 - PC100 3.3V 168-pin SDRAMs.
I can recommend DataMem as a reliable source for fairly priced RAM for Macs. The item you want is here.

I want to upgrade my macbook pro 15-inch i7 2.3GHz memory and I want to know what is the maximum RAM it could take

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
It looks like you have got an Early 2011 or newer MacBook Pro, so you can use 16 GB of RAM. You can buy more RAM at OWC or Crucial. Remember that you cannot upgrade RAM in MacBooks Pro with Retina display
In case you have got a Mid 2010 MacBook Pro, you can only install 8 GB of RAM

  • Is there a maximum RAM capacity for a Macbook Pro 13 inch Mid 2009?

My questions is essentially, is there a maximum RAM capacity for a Macbook Pro 13 inch Mid 2009? I'm aware there are two RAM slots in my machine, but in past experiences with other laptops/desktop computers (not Apple) there was a default maximum which couldn't be overidden despite how much RAM was inserted.

You can upgrade up to 8GB using 2 x 4GB 204-pin PC3-8500 (1066 MHz) DDR3 modules. That's the maximum (unlike 2011 and later models which Apple tells you can only hold 8GB but can actually run 16GB).
If you do order RAM, order from a Mac memory specialist - Crucial, OWC, Corsair, etc.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • What is the maximum RAM for 2.16 GHz 24 in DDR2 iMac Early 2006

What is the maximum RAM that I can install on iMac 24 in 2.16 GHz DDR2 Early 2006 model?

    Is this your Mac:
    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/stats/imac-core-2-duo-2.16-24-inch-sp ecs.html
I had the same model: officially it'll support 3 GB RAM; some people added 4 GB and it ran fine, but it will only address about 3.2 GB. I decided that wasn't worth it and made do with 3 GB.

  • Maximum RAM upgrade?

What is the maximum RAM I can safely install in my 21.5 inch, Mid 2011, iMac 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5.
I have the 2 x 2 GB that came factory installed.

If you model is iMac11,2 then it's 16 GB.
    Screenshot from the MacTracker application.
Go go Crucial.com and check to see what is available for your model.  Crucial is a very reputable memory supplier for Macs.

  • If the maximum RAM is 8gb, is there a way  to higher?

I have a macpro 2010.  The maximum RAM it has is 8gb and that is what currently have.  Is there a way to go to 16gb or is the maximum set in stone?

    You're welcome.
2011 and 2012 Macbook Pro can go up to 16GB of RAM
2012 15 Inch Macbook Retina can go up to 16GB of RAM upon purchase - can not upgrade after.
2012 13 Inch Macbook Retina is limited to 8GB of RAM

  • Maximum RAM which can be fitted?

I have a Powerbook G4 17 inch, serial number W8*******QRV which currently has 1Gb. of RAM fitted.
I have tried to fit 2 x 1Gb. of DDR1 333MHz. PC - 2700 (SODIMM) but have had no success.
The laptop does not give memory error beeps, but instead displays a request to power off and re-start in English, French, German and Japanese.
Is this machine somehow limited as to how much RAM it can accept, or is tyhere something else which is preventing a successful upgrade?
I know that it is an old machine, but it still functions very well for my purposes.
Any assistance would be gratefully received.

The maximum RAM for that PowerBook model is 2GB; there appears to be a problem with one of the RAM modules installed.

  • Maximum RAM Ceiling for G710 (Model 59400022)?

    I'm interested in buying the G710 - 59400022 laptop.  It's the model that's 17" with 1600x900 resolution.
However, one spec that I'm quite concerned about is the RAM ceiling.  All information on the Lenovo site shows that this model can only accept a maximum RAM amount of 8GB.  If true, then I cannot purchase it.
Can anyone confirm if this is accurate or incorrect?  Has anyone bought this specific model and added more than 8GB of RAM to it?  The processor in this model (4th Generation Intel Core i5-4200M 2.5GHz Processor ) can address up to 32GB of RAM.
    Any confirmation would be helpful.
    Regards.

    hi ABAB,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
Looking at the spare parts for the Ideapad G710 (model 59400022), the stock RAM is a:
    11200504 - SODIMM 8G M471B1G73BH0-YK0 DDR3L 1.35V
Page 28 of the HMM states that the G710 can take 2xSODIMM and up to 16GB RAM so it's possible that the machine can only be configured with 8GB of RAM (from the lenovo website) but can take 16GB max (though I can't confirm this as there's no available model here in the lab).

  • Is there anyway or increasing the maximum ram capacity on a macbook a1181?

Looking to upgrade some ram, but more than only 2GB, any help?

The A1181 simply means it's one of 17 models of MacBook with a plastic case and a removable battery. Check out http://www.everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup/?search_keywords=A1181
Each MacBook has a Model Number like 2,1, 3,1 etc... To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier.
OWC lists the maximum RAM for each model on this page. http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/MacBook/DDR2/

  • Maximum RAM - MacBook Pro

Just wondering if anyone knows for sure whats the maximum RAM allowable for,
    13-inch: 2.5GHz
    Specifications
    2.5GHz dual-core Intel Core i5
    Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz
    4GB 1600MHz memory
    500GB 5400-rpm hard drive1
    Intel HD Graphics 4000
    (is it really only 8GB?)
    vs.
    13-inch: 2.4GHz with Retina display
    Specifications
    2.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5
    Turbo Boost up to 2.9GHz
    4GB 1600MHz memory
    128GB PCIe-based flash storage1
    Intel Iris Graphics
    Built-in battery (9 hours)2
    (is it 16GB?)

You can't upgrade Retina model RAM. You can, however, upgrade the RAM on the first model - up to 16GB. Of course, I believe that you may be able to order 16GB on the Retina machine - I know that you can on the 15" models.
