I heard it might be possible to create a solaris 10 zone in which you could run solaris 8 software. more usefully that you could take an image of an existing solaris 8 instance and transfer it to a zone on a solaris 10 machine. anyone know any details on this or if I am just a n00b and need to be told off?

I don't know any way that would be possible short of being able "emulate" Solaris 8 on a Solaris 10 machine.

You don't need to start a new thread to continue a conversation, you can just tack onto the original one. The settings I referred you to are for the Blackberry, since that's the device which is not receiving mail: anything which is working can be left alone.

In FW 8, if you have a new image with multiple objects, you
can "save"
as PNG only, but you can "save as" any FW supported format,
without all
the html attributes associated with the Export dialog. With
many
formats, you will get the option to "save a copy" so you
don't flatten
your original artwork.
And of course, you can "Export" too.
That directory location issue is a pain. There is some kind
of logic
there, but I can never remember what it is. lol

Since i updated to Firefox4 i can no longer save tabs on closing - searched help - says settings may be wrong but no suggestions how to fix. i tried the "corrupted files" change and that didn't work either.

Why don't my tabs save anymore when i close Firefox. I'm not asked to save and i want to! i've tried looking in the help database and it does suggest settings may be wrong but does not offer any suggestions to fix.

You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session.
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default about:home Home page.
Another possibility is to use:
*Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"
You can set the warn prefs on the about:config page to true via the right-click context menu or toggle the value with a double left-click.

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.

W utility says may be overheating but has good ventilation and barely warm. When unit first started working internal fan would come on since then has not come on again?

AirPort Extreme constant amber blinking light no green since initial start up. Utility says it may be overheating but unit has good ventilation and even after sitting all night still the same. Did notice when first setting up heard internal fan come on periodically and since then have not heard it come on once. Could the fan be bad and this is why it is saying its hot?

What attachments are you talking about? Do you mean the files and or photos you receive in emails?
Mail loads the attachments and they should appear in the body of the email. Some can be viewed by tapping on them. If you have a compatible app you can save them to the appropriate app. An example might be a Word document. If you have an app that edits Word docs like Pages or some other app, tapping on the attachment will bring up a choice to open in Pages.

FaceTime is NEVER charged. It is basically going through the internet, as if you were watching a YouTube video, it just takes data. You probably have a data limit through your wireless provider, for example, I can only use 3Gb of data per month on my iPhone 5 through AT&T.
If you use Wi-Fi, you will NOT be charged for data (unless your internet provider has a cap on the amount of data you can use).
If you do facetime over cellular data, you just have to watch your data usage. You can watch your data usage in Settings > General > Usage. AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint all offer free apps you can use to monitor your data usage (among many other things, like pay your wireless bill, etc.).

There are tow ways you can handle this. One is to copy the notes to your computer using iTunes to send them to Outlook. The other would be to create or have an iCloud account so that the notes are synced online and then all you have to do is sign back in to get them. This may sound dumb, but is there an app or a monthly subscription to carry wi-fi or internet connection. so i dont lose connection when i leave my house. want internet connection at all time

Your internet connection depends on access to a wifi network. When you leave your house you go out of range of your own network, so the only way to connect is to find a free or paid public wi-fi service in the location you are in at the time; the alternative is to use your iPhone for what is called 'tethering' (providing a wifi signal you iPod can connect to) but it you have an iPhone you would want to use that anyway (and many service providers don't allow it - in any case it comes expensive as you are using a mobile data connection).

I have a itunes 11, iMac, iPad sync issue... all new kit, the itunes library and photos are on a networrk drive but syncing is useless, no music, no photos, no video, sometimes music and videos may be visible but greyed out on the ipad....

This is my first posting so sorry for the messy title... I didn't realise how it all worked here.
I have a shiny new imac, shiny new ipad and have all my media on a network hard drive - itunes works fine on the mac - no problems - photos visible in finder and photoshop - no problems, but when I come to sync the new ipad - several things may happen (I have tried many times now)
1) a long wait - whirly gig round spinner thing - then music visible on the ipad but greyed out and useless
2) no photos at all synced
3) no videos synced
4) info syncs ok
5) apps seem to have synced OK
It is not a data size issue as the same amount of data synced before the new kit from my old windows pc on to an iPod - I daren't try syncing the ipod as I need it for my next business trip.
I tried removing the ipod cache files for the photos - no difference - I tried restoring the ipad - no difference
Have I completely wasted a large amount of money?

ps when syncing it jumps through steps 1 - 4 real fast, i seem to remeber iphone showing the number of tracks transferring and names, but i see nothing? then it sits on 5 saying "waiting for changes to be applied"

ok my parents got me my macbook about 2 months ago and everything's ok until about now. mac's are suppose to be silent computers right? (i've used macs for years but never go into the technical aspect) now my laptop has been whirring a lot.
i know it may not sound like much but it's the same whirring noise my dad's old mac used to make before it froze. and i'm scared of my laptop freezing on me unexpectedly. it tends to make this noise while i'm playing the sims 2 (btw while i was installing the sims 2, it warned me that my processor was under the required 500 whatever-the-units-are ,i forgot, but i clicked ok and play the sims 2 fine) but would stop after some time. now it makes it while i'm doing something simple like using safari or yahoo messenger.
i think it should help to mention that i do quite a bit of downloading. i downloaded a ton of widgets the other day and sometimes get music and some tv shows (and on the itunes store too) and i use limewire sometimes but my laptop whirrs when i do.
so any diagnosis? should i uninstall the sims 2? stop downloading? or use my laptop like normal and hope the whirring wont lead to things to come?
i'm really worried...

Desktop Java May not last but Enterprise Java will

I have realized that there seems to be a kind of a futile effort battling .NET on Windows Desktop. Its really crazy having put so much effort learning desktop java only to realize that .NET may eventually topple it.
What gives me joy anyway is the general response to Enterprise Java. Its seems to be very strong especially when coming from the perspective of the the growth of linux and the security model of its architecture. I will advice any new java newbie to just start migrating to Enterprise Java as soon as he starts picking up in java otherwise the effort to overthrow .NET on windows desktop may be toppled eventually. But i think that Desktop Java Should be empowered more for Linux Platforms this days.
I dont know if there is a contary opinion but i am raising this issue becuase I have applied for so many IT jobs only to realize the are looking for .NET or VB when it comes to Desktop Applications. Also I will also suggest that IDE builders community shouls also support the growth of easy-to-use IDEs for J2EE so as to encourage new user to come in.

I'll admit it a learning curve at the start from procedural to OO, however I am the only java developer in
the company, the rest are VB, and everything Microsoft. I have to admit a hate it, DLL hell as far as COM
is concerned.
I don't know the difference between .NET and the old school VB stuff, but our guys are not singing off the .NET hymn sheet. If anything they are swayed by the power of java and the open source projects like apache coocon,James,POI,AXIS,Jakarta Tomcat the list goes on. However they all still develop in old VB, which quite a lot of companies are still doing.
Its very expensive to buy is it not.
I hate everything to do with Microsoft personally, "let me sell you a server, and I'll sell you the other half".

I don't know what happened but I have a Master collection license registered on may 1st, 2013 (als visible in my account on https://www.adobe.com/nl/account/my-products-services.html) and it worked great for a couple of months, the license is for a year so I expect it to work to at least end of april 2014.
Since a few days the software urges me to license my software or 'continue trial'
I didn´t alter anything other than installing the automatic updates Adobe urged me to. system here is on windows 7 ultimate and no changes there also.
Can someone tell me what went wrong and how I can use the last 6 months of my license?
