  • How do I import RAW (CR2) images from Canon S100 into Photoshop Elements 8?

From Adobe support I downloaded Camera_Raw_6_1.zip.  Extracted files, cut original Camera Raw.8bi file and pasted in a new folder.  Then copied the new version of Camera Raw.8bi into the empty file format location.  Still get "Cannot open ...CR2 because it is the wrong type of file."
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi,
The Canon S100 wasn't supported until version 6.6 of camera raw and that isn't supported by pse 8.
You options are to either upgrade to pse version 10 or use the DNG converter
    for windows http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5310
    or
    for mac http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5309

  • How do I get a raw image from "My Pictures" into Photoshop?

How do I get a RAW image from "My Pictures" into Photoshop? When I send it to Photoshop , it shows up as a grey checkerboard. The title is on the top. Whe I try to send a picture from Camera Raw, it does the same thing.

Has it ever worked or is this just something that started happening recently?
Have you tried resetting the photoshop preferences file?
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776?tstart=0
Have you installed the latest updates for photoshop cs5?
In photoshop cs5 go to Help>Updates
To post the system info here on the forum it might depend on your browser, but using firefox as an example, you would open the system info in photoshop, press Copy then OK.
Here on the forum you would press the ctrl key and paste.

  • How do I download images from a camera into Photoshop Elements 7?

Previously I've  downloaded digital images directly from my camera into Photoshop Elements 7.0  In trying to do that today, I go to "File", choose "Get pictures from Camera", then see a "source" box, with an instruction to "Get Pictures from:" and offers a "source" box for choosing.  The single "source" listed is my printer, not my camera!  Am I doing something wrong? Is Photoshop defective?
    Please help me out.
    Gene F.

    Hi Gene
    Yes Elements is defective.
There are known bugs with the photo downloader, notably if you run the program on a net book or laptop with minimum screen resolution.
Go to the control panel and check dpi scaling under Appearance or Display.
It’s not uncommon to see a setting of 125% or higher to improve screen readability but PSE9 requires a dpi of 96 or 100%
Whilst the Editor Menu will appear at 120% the Organizer Menu (and the advanced button in downloader) will not.
Try a setting of 115% or 116% otherwise 100%. A common display resolution, notably for laptops and netbooks is 1024 x 768 but PSE9 requires a screen height of 800 for full functionality.

  • Can I ''import'' a frame directly from a videoCam into Photoshop?

I am used to ''capture'' video shots into Premiere, then I know how to stop on a still image and save it as an image..but : is there a way to ''import'' an image (while video cam is connected via Firewire, paused on a specific frame) without going through the laborious process ?
I use a Canon HV30 (miniDV). Yes I could have used the SD card and created pictures instead... But there are frames within video shots I would like to get as pictures.  What is the best (and/or easiest) way to do this ?
    Thanks
    Rob

There's a video layer ( overlay  different from your typical screen ) -  There's a chart somewhere that can show you the different "modes" of video used by monitors ...but basically the screen capture and utility used depends on what mode your capture utility puts the video "preview", and I have nothing to test that with here now..
This capture from prnt screen (same result from corel capture utility ) shows that once video gets placed into the video overlay space..you cant capture with those type programs...  there was a paused video in that box...and I could not capture it..
below is some tricks to use windows media player to capture frames from ALREADY saved videos...
The video overlay / space ---that the capture utility you use hopefully is NOT that video overlay space...so you can do screen capture.
Grabbing frames from a video with window media player
When you want to grab a single video frame Windows media  player can get the job done. Windows media player is Microsofts solution  to play videos on your PC computer and it is installed with all Windows  XP and Windows Vista PCs. Windows media player is probably the most  used media player program in the world.
If you try to grab a video frame with print screen in Windows media  player or any of the many screen capture utilities all you will get is  probably a black screen. The problem is that that almost, or I would say  all, video cards use a special layer for videos rendering. The video is  really displayed overlayed on top of the media player window. What you  get when you capture or print the screen is really what is displayed  behind the video, probably not what you want. The reason for things  working this way is performance. Dedicated video hardware is able to  play high resolution videos at a good framerate without slowing down  your computer or eating your laptop battery. The downside is that you  can not capture video frames from the overlay.
    Changing options
In the Windows media player program we need to do some changes to the  default options. Open up the options dialog from the tools menu. Under  the performance tap you will see an advanced button that you need to  click. On the advanced dialog page uncheck the "use overlays" option.  Now restart Windows media player and see if you can grab video frames  with the print screen button. If this still does not work there is a  second thing you will need to try. Again open up the performance tab and  disable hardware acceleration all together. Again you need to restart  Windows media player for this to have an affect.
    ==================
ps...If, in fact, your capture utility puts the video into the overlay video space, you do a google search for "capture video frames" you can find programs made for it...
    Good luck

  • Dragging image from web browser into Photoshop not opening

Before, whilst in Google Inspect on any webpage I could drag an image onto the Photoshop application icon on the dock = opens up in Photoshop + with PNG transparency.
Now this has stopped working for an unknown reason about 2-3 months ago after updating. I'll drag the image over the application icon on the dock as before, but then nothing opens.
As a result, my workflow is now more inefficient and incovienient.
Please can you explain what has happened and when this is being fixed.
    Thank you,
    Steve

You wouldn't happen to be using the Chrome browser, would you?
Chrome broke drag and drop recently.

  • Importing Images from iPhoto 11 into Elements 12 Organizer

A friend is having lots of trouble trying to move his images from iPhoto 11 into the Elements Organizer, version 12.
Someone tried to do it for him and he has hundreds of folders in the organizer that don't make any sense and often have only one image in them.
To help him I would like to do two things:
    1.  How can we delete the entire import and start over?
    2.  What is the correct way to move these images into the elements organizer?
    Thanks for your help.
    Mary Lou
PS:  It occurs to me that perhaps he needs to export them to his hard drive and then import then into the Organizer.  Might this be correct? If it is, he will still need to get rid of all the folder there now.

To anwser the two questions you asked-
    1.  How can we delete the entire import and start over? : You may select all media in Elements Organizer grid (which he imported from iPhoto) and hit Delete key
    2.  What is the correct way to move these images into the elements organizer? : The correct way is what he already did. Actually the folder naming convention is same as that of iPhoto. If you see the package contents of iPhoto Library, these folders can be seen there as well. When importing in Elements Organizer, it creates a copy of the iPhoto folder structure and then imports in the catalog.
    Thanks

Thanks Terence, I rebuilt my database....I was not aware that I could access rebuild tools by holding the command and options buttons. Like I said, I'm new to Mac. I was able to recreate my missing photo's but they aren't the same pixel quality as the originals, look kind of blurry....any thoughts on this???

  • How can I keep a photo image from fading away on my tv using apple tv.

How can I keep a photo image from fading away on my tv using apple tv?

Thanks for you reply.  When I paint, I bring up the photo as you suggested.  I begin painting.  After about 10 minutes or so, the photo goes blank.  And, I have to start the process over again to get that same photo.  It interrupts the painting process.  I think it goes blank due to a sleep function.  I have gone into the Apple TV settings and turned off the sleep function.  But, this does not seem to work.  What can I do to keep the image on the TV screen permanently?

  • Problem: importing a transparent image from Photoshop to Premiere.

    Dear Adobe community,
I am trying to import a transparent image from Photoshop to Premiere Pro CC. Whatever file format I choose to export from Photoshop, Premiere Pro CC will not import the file correctly. When I import is, two things occur: 1) the image gets imported, but the white background is still there or 2) the image gets an error "The importer reported a generic error".
Does anyone have an idea how I can get an image with a white background transparent into Premiere Pro CC.
    Specs:
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, eind 2013)
    2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
    16GB RAM
    1536MB Intel Iris videocard
    Thanks!

You need to make sure the image has an alpha channel.
Images like jpeg dont have an alpha channel.
Psd or png do and the image has to be RGB.
Make sure the background in PS is also transparant.

  • I am unable to import Raw still images from a Nikon D 80 into Premiere Pro cs 4. All jpeg images ok

I am unable to Import RAW still Images from a Nikon D 80 camera into
Premiere Pro. All jpeg images import Ok. A web search suggests I need "plug-ins" for RAW, but I can not find  same. Any suggestions as to how to inport RAW files to PP CS 4 would be appreciated. I have just updated from Premiere Elements 4 which had no problem importing RAW still images.
    Roygo

The way I see it (correct me if I'm wrong) but Raw is supposed to be where you have total editing control of the shot (as opposed to the camera). I believe the next step is to do the editing (i.e. color balance, exposure, etc) then make a regular image from that to use in whatever output you desire (print, web, etc.) Think of raw as the negative. Just being in raw doesn't in it self make it better.
Edit. This is from premiere help files....
Supported still‑image and sequence file formats
Adobe Premiere Pro supports 8-bit per-channel (4 bytes per pixel) and 16-bit per-channel (8 bytes per pixel) still-image files. It converts images with lower bit-depths to 8-bits per channel and images with higher bit-depths to 16-bits per channel on import. High bit-depth files are supported at one single-precision float per channel (16-bytes per pixel).
