IPad2 - mysteriously can not join my network now....
my lap tops can..
my wife's Ipad can...
My Ipad can see it...but won't let me join....

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi

    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

I have a new iPad 2 which will not connect to my wi fi despite a new router being installed. When I tap my network name (which is with TalkTalk) the message comes up "unable to join the network TalkTalk etc...)

Are you refering to a home network or some form of public
if home network ensure your router has latest firmware and try rebooting it

IOS 7.1. Unable to join the network (Cisco Router)

I have an iPhone 5s (iOS 7.1. GM - Public). My phone and wifi connections worked fine until last week.
Now when I have tried connecting to my home wifi network (using CISCO router; other wifi connections are working normally), my phone is giving me the message "enter the password" and there is an username too. So, it is impossible to connect to wifi network - "unable to join the network".
I tried to Reset Network Settings on iPhone, and Restore an iPhone (over iTunes), reset cisco router to factory settings etc. without success.. any idea what could be wrong?

Hi, I bought a 3G Iphone 8Gb, It came with firmware 2.2 ...
When I try to access Wi-Fi I got this error : "Unable to join the network XY"
I updated to 2.2.1 and the error continues...
Tried to restore network settings, and nothing...
ps.: My friend with other Iphone 3G can access the same Wi-Fi network...

It may be that the battery is the issue. I am having the same problems - unable to log in to my WIFI at home, which I have never had an issue with until yesterday, when I started getting the "Unable to access XXX network".
I have tried everything including full iphone restore and router factory restore, but nothing. I did note that after having the phone switched off overnight, I was able to access my wireless network for about fifteen minutes then it just dropped the connection and now I am back to no access whatsoever.

Got my iPod this am..
looked too good to touch no pun intended.
I went through the instructions, interrupted with an offer to update_, which I did.
I then saw that the iPod was off line and went to set up the connection.
I do have a Time Capsule but I just use it as an external drive, I use Ethernet connections between it my Netopia router/modem which provides my Wi Fi for another computer.
I have a WPA-PSK security on the Netopia.
My Wi Fi shows up on available networks, I am asked for my password but then I get a message "Unable to join the network"
I must admit that my password is long (and a bit racy) my fingers a bit big, but I know that I have got it right on at least a few occasions.
I have tried entering the details on "Other network" with the same result.
Could my WPA-PSK be a problem?
I would be most grateful for any suggestions.

Went through that pretty well.
Finally solved it in 2 steps.
1. reset my modem/router to factory settings.
Odd situation, wireless settings, but dependent on ethernet connection.
2. read a post from Hong Kong re strange network settings.
On his advice, into network, changed location from Automatic to one of my choosing.
Bingo! everything came good.
Totally wireless connection. iPod jumped to it. Isn't it great when everything comes together?
I still wonder why it didn't take the signal from the WiFi part of my Modem/Router?
Probably just as well as it sorted my Time Capsule connections out, probably for the first time since I bought one back in early 2008, and its recent replacement when it joined the epidemic of sudden death recently.

It sounds like he is setting up the iPod via wif. You can't continue. What yo can do is reset the iPod
- Reset the iOS device.
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Then start the setup over again but this time connect the iPod to a computer and set up via iTunes. Then he can troubleshoot the connection proboem.

Couple of suggestions.
First, many companies have a gateway on their networks that block non approved devices. I work in such a place. You might check with an IT guy , and see if they have a block in place.
Second, the message you are getting means that you have not negotiated the security settings. So either the password is wrong ( case sensitive), or, in some cases, they want a network key as opposed to your normal password.
Again, if you can find one, talk to an IT guy and see if he has some suggestions.

My new iPhone 5 is my first iPhone and I've had it about a week. I'm still in the process of setting it up but cannot connect to my home (secured) wi-fi. I've been reading other Apple forums and Google suggestions and it appears this is a known Apple issue? My phone came with iOS 6 installed so I have no update available. I've turned off my router and shut off my phone, rebooting both but I still get an error message when entering our wi-fi password: "unable to join the network". There are a couple of things that you can try. First, try disabling the security on your wifi network and see if the phone will connect. Check the type of security you are using. Some have reported the iPhone reacts differently to some wifi security. Check to see if there is a firmware update to the router. This is usually the biggest culprit of the bunch. Once routers have been updated and restarted, troubles disappear.
