Maya won't launch via ARD - other apps fine...

i can't launch Maya via apple remote desktop... the application splash comes up then an error message "The application Maya quit unexpectedly"...
if i go (physically) to the computer and launch maya, it launches fine and can be controlled by remote desktop..
anyone have this problem with maya or other applications?
any solutions out there?
this is ARD 3.1... clients are up to date

I think it might be an issue with the Quartz Extreme/Core acceleration units. I've run into the same problem with Final Cut Express on the iMacs I manage at our university. If I launch the program while controlling over ARD, the app usually freezes. It works fine when launching from the local machine.
I traced it to Quartz during the install process one day. I was installing FCE on a machine while controlling it remotely. The installer wouldn't install the program, because it said Quartz Extreme was not supported on the machine.
You could try launching the app, quickly closing the control window, then controlling the machine again once Maya has launched.

    I have been through the forum logs and have seen the notes about reinstalling Dreamweaver and installing Java. I have done both (uninstalled Dreamweaver, reinstalled/downloaded Dreamweaver CC from iCloud. I have downloaded and installed Java. Rebooted my machine. The icon bounces longer, but never gets to the splash screen.
    I am running OS X 10.9.2 (Maverick) on a 2.93 GHz Intel Core i7 iMac with 16GB of ram.

    I just spent over an hour on the phone with Adobe's support. It is finally resolve. It was a permissions issue. Basically, what the tech had to do was create a "root user" account, sign out of my account, sign into root user, uninstall Dreamweaver, then re-install Dreamweaver in the root user account. Since the root user account has full permissions, it worked. I definitely would not have figured that out without calling support and having a rep walk me through it. I didn't come across this solution on any forums I searched.
    I also had a duplicate Macintosh HD drive apparently in the root user account that caused some confusion with install, so he had to pull that out onto the desktop also to avoid confusion with the install, but my guess is that wont be an issue for others.
    If you can't solve it on your own, try calling the same # I called: 800-833-6687 Mon-Fri 5am-7pm PST.

    I recently bought a used ipod classic from the pawn shop.  my prior two were done in by my need to be to close to water.  i tried to restore it, but it claims another app won't allow it.

    I have iWork or Pages [5.5.1 (2111)], Numbers [3.5 (2109)] , and Keynote [6.5 (2110)] and I am told that there are 'updates' in the Mac App Store, but every time I click on them the download fails. No reason is ever given. I had iWork '09 on disk and have been able to upgrade this far. I currently run OS X 10.10.1.

    Before you start with the steps below: make a back-up of your Mac, preferably with Time Machine: Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac - Apple Support
    Please use the Finder and go > go to folder to go to this location:
    /Library/Application Support/
    If you see any iWork related folders here, please remove them to the trash. It's normal that you will have to provide a password before you can.
    After removing these iWork folder, restart your computer and try the update again. Your update might be hindered by old iWork '09 files and directories,

  • Itunes 6.5 & Quicktime 7.1.2 update causing no launch of Itunes & other app

    Hi!
    Pardon my language, but what the f#&! just happened? I updated to Itunes 6.5 and Quicktime 7.1.2 and when I go to launch Itunes...it just bounces in the dock - then nothing. Same thing when I go to launch another application (music) called Intact from Native Instruments.
    I did a "force quit" and see that it is showing that I can quit both of these applications, but I have never seen them after the lauch attempt.
    I see that this has been tabled before, to a degree, but I cannot seem to get any answers on steps to solve. If you have the time & a few thoughts, I would appreciate it.

  • Can't print to new Epson AIO, other apps fine

    New Epson CX4800. All apps print fine to it, except Appleworks. Instead, the print job shows up in the queue and the queue immdiately stops.
    Have repaired permissions. Have deleted the print queue and re-added. Have tried old and new documents. Appleworks simply isn't happy with the printer.
    Checked for new drivers from Epson (only for Intel Macs).
    Epson tech support is stumped.
    Any ideas?

    It looks like the one thing you have done is delete the AppleWorks preferences. This can fix printing problems with AppleWorks. See my user tip, AppleWorks has stopped working correctly, for more info.

  • Dreamweaver CC2014.1 won't launch. Everything else works fine.

    When I launch Dreamweaver CC 2014.1 the icon jumps but nothing happens. I have all other CC software working fine. My DreamWeaver CS5 is working fine. I have installed JAVA 8, I do not get any pop up about Java SE 6.

    Ask in the DW forum and provide exact system info. Sounds like some of the startup scripts are not working.

    I'm using a browser on a PC to access icloud mail. Has been working fine for a week or more. Suddenly the mail app doesn't launch. The other apps continue to work. I am using the correct version of the browsers and have tried several. I can get mail to launch once in a while using Firefox 16. But it also fails in that browser too. The error I'm getting is "Can't Load Mail, There was a problem loading the application." <Report> <OK>. It always fails in Chrome.

    The issue of not loud enough has been a constant complaint since day 1. Vibrate is fine if you have the phone. But for like my wife who keeps it in her purse (as most women that I know do) then vibrate doesn't help. And when at home every phone before my iPhone I could hear in any room. The iPhone, sorry to say I cannot. Though I am not really complaining, just stating that the iPhone is not as loud as many think it should be.
    Now once my 1 year is up (in June) I am going the route of what many sites have discussed of using a pin to puncture the thin plastic in the speaker covering that with sound equipment has shown a good 40% increase in sound levels.

  • Indesign CS5 won't launch on new MB Pro 10.8

    After migrating Creative Suite 5 Premium from Mac OS X 10.6.8 to new Macbook Pro 10.8.5 Indesign won't launch while all other components do. I've posted the crash report at http://pastebin.com/JrVw4Sm4. Can anyone help with this problem?
    I've already browsed the forum but didn't really got a clue how to sort it out. The original software was downloaded from adobe.subscribenet.com three years ago and doesn't seem to be available anymore for reinstallation. Product keys are in place...

    I would have tried new installation but unfortunately don't have access to the original media installed from an electronic download. All I want to do is moving all applications from an old 13" MB Pro 10.6.8 to a new 10.8.5 and make sure they run within the new system before cleaning up the old one. Any idea what the specific problem is with InDesign since all other applications are running smoothly?

    It seems alot of people are having this trouble, I do have shapeshifter on my system, I'll try adding iTunes to the exclude list and see if that does anything. I'll try your suggestion with the library folder, does that mean to trash the iTunes library folder or just move it out of where it is? What I don't get is how it can be corrupted, it worked perfectly before the update

  • Adobe apps fail to launch after copying via ARD 3

    For several years we have beeen updating our Adobe apps by updating our master image and copying (via ARD v.1, then v.2, now v. 3) the applications and the associated Application Support files to the target machines. (300 Macs running Tiger) Since upgrading to version 3 of ARD. Adobe apps fail to launch after they are replaced, even with the old files.
    I found a post alluding to a known issue with Acrobat from June. It stated it was a known bug that engineering was aware of. THAT was the only mention I could find. Does anyone know anything more about this? This is critical for our publishing workflow - Adobe has two updates that affect us in critical areas that we need to implement, but are reluctant to visit 300 individual desktops (even remotely) and run individual install patches.
    The silent install works great for installation, but does not address updates.

    Eggshell Design have you tried removing and reinstalling the Creative Cloud desktop application?  You can find the uninstaller in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder.

  • IPhone 3rd party apps won't launch anymore!

    After updating the iPhone software to 3.1, a host of 3rd-party apps won't launch anymore (appear for 1 second, then revert back to the apps icons page).
    I've tried upgrading to iTunes 9, uninstalling then reinstalling ALL apps on the iPhone via iTunes, hard rebooting my iPhone, restarting my iMac, etc etc, but nothing works.
    On a iPhone 3Gs page on the Forums, I saw many others having similar difficulties and blaming it on the XX upgrade. One solution proposed there was to download a free app from the App Store and install it. Tried that, and it didn't work for me.
    I hope Apple will give this attention, because it's basically disabled my iPhone's business-sensitive functionalities (like 1Password) on the eve of a 2week business trip ... and on business trips, I don't have my iMac with me! >:-(
    In case it helps the OS is showing as 3.1 (7C144) on my device.

    I may have a solution to your problem. I updated to Firmware 3.1 today and couldn´t open any application i downloaded. I seems the updated version of iTunes handles apps a little different from before. When you connect your iPhone and it pops up in iTunes, right click on it to enter your configuration area (for the iPhone). At the top bar you have a row of options like music, pictures, podcast and somewhere in the middle you have the option "Programs". Click on that and you will see a list of all the programs you have downloaded in iTunes. Unfortunatly you have to recheck all the boxes at the left side of the program you want to be synched to your iPhone. Check these boxes and click "Apply" at the bottom right and iTunes will now transfer them to your iPhone. Easy breasy when you know how to do.
