Maybe Adobe Help Should Give Me The Help When I Need It ...

… and not just yank me out of the page I'm currently reading and happily claim it's extracting files for the next few hours, when in fact it isn't.
Why can't this be done in the background? Did it ever occur to some engineer that, when I open the Help application, I might be actually looking for the documentation now, and not be interested in administering the Help application?
Yes, I am snarky, because using that application is so infuriating. It feels like some summer project of an intern making his first steps in Flex – but definitely not like a proper application that deserves to be bundled with the rest of the suites ...

If you're having difficulties with the Community Help Client application, then consider that you have two other means for getting Help content:
- HTML version on the Web
- PDF version
You can get to the HTML version on the Web through any of several portals, such as this one. You can also set a preference such that this is the version that is always used when you open Help from with the application; this blog post from Preran Kurnool shows where this Accessibility > Open Help In Browser preference is located.
You can download the PDF version using the link at the top of any of the pages of the Help document on the Web.

Do a clean (re)install and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

Activation Lock cannot be bypassed, you will have to recover the email and password used to activate it.

Adobe won't give me the option to 'open' files without saving.

I was not able to open .pdf files at all and realised that Adobe Reader had somehow 'gone' from my laptop. I have reinstalled the latest version but if I want to 'open' an attachment in n email it will only give me the option to 'Save' the file. I don't want to Save every file. Can someone please advise me how to get back the option to just ' open' the file?

A/A - I have reinstalled the latest version of AdobeReader.
When I click an attachment to view it, the first option I am given is to 'save' the file, and then the next pop up message gives me the option to either 'open' or 'view file'. The thing is that I don't want to 'save' each file to my laptop to allow me to see it. I want to be able to merely 'open' the file to view aithout actually saving it first.

Is it possible you're using a case-sensitive file system on your new mac?
Can you make sure you've got the latest version of Adobe AIR installed?

The new beta version is unlikely to have this problem.

PROPHOTO RGB versus ADOBE RGB-should they look the same?

satisfied with editing an image in LR, I then opened it into CS5 and converted it's profile to adobe rgb, the are marj=kedly different in color,tone,brightness, etc.
i use imac,8GB ram 27" display, os 10.6.6 and I use eye one to calibrate my monitor once per month. LR 3,3 and Photoshop CS5.
searched forums and found nothing i could clearly understand. The prophoto rgb version of image is bright and cheerful but adobe rgb version is dull but probably more accurate.
am prepared for humility so how about some advice

Without proper system info and other technical details nobody can tell you anything. chances are you may need to run the cleaner tool and reinstall everything from scratch.

How should i set the baseURI when a db file path with a space

if the db file in a path like c:\program file\myapplication,then i set the baseURI dbxml:c:\program file\myapplication ,some exception occur~what should i do ?

The Base URI needs to be a valid URI, which means it cannot include the Windows '\' character at all. In your case, you should be fine using something along the lines of "file:////C:/program file/myapplication"
(give or take a '/' or two -- I haven't tested this).
It's a common for BDB XML users to confuse the argument to create/openContainer() (a filesystem path) with the Base URI (a URI). The meanings and requirements are different. The best thing to do is to set and use a container alias (XmlContainer::addAlias()) to use in your queries.

had to delete firefox and reinstall it. in doing so, i lost all of my bookmarks. when i follow the instructions on how to restore it, and the dates drop down, it is only giving me the last couple of days. it is not giving me an earlier date. and after reading the help answers, i have come to the conclusion that all my bookmarks which i use about 85% of them on a daily basis are GONE !!! Adobe Download Assistant give me (Error 100) when i try to sign in

I downloaded the Adobe Dreamweaver trial but i can't get past the Adobe Download Assistant. Every time i try to sign in it says "Error communicationg with Adobe.com (Error 100). I can log in at www.adobe.com. Whats the problem here?

Are you using some type of a software firewall or is your password being rejected when trying to log into the Adobe Download Assistant?

You could have looked this up. It's been discussed many times. Running your MBP without the battery (a) risks loss of data if the power is disconnected, which can happen easily with the MagSafe adapter; and (b) throttles the CPU speed to a maximum of 1 GHz. If you want those features, then by all means take the battery out.

Should SAP supply the password when they supply the credential file

I am configuring ADS for a client and they sent in an OSS message to get a credential file. They received the file but no password. Shouldn't SAP supply the password since they supplied the credential file?
