Maybe i'm just crazy??

Well I just did a whole lot of reading and funny thing there’s a group of people who by some odd reason plans to hate and will make sure a devise never get the respect it needs, The devise is called the e90 the only thing that I seem to read about is that it’s not perfect it’s just a n95 with a keyboard, but I’m fine with that how bad can that be? It’s not hard to tell I’m fairly new to the tech world but what’s all the hype about with the Psion? If it was really that good why did they stop making it? And who where the user’s?? Someone tell me did it have a media function I don’t think video play work as well as it do today no matter what your lively hood is I’m sure we all play music play games surf the web ect… (From time to time) What did the Psion have other than a better keyboard, I think the Psion was timeless piece but let’s move forward after all the what the iphone proves that sky is no limited to where technology is going, 2002 was the birth of the pda/smartphones giants from everywhere I had an 9500 for a few months did I like it yes! Will I buy it today no! Am I looking to fill the gap by buying the e90 yes! Will I it do the job maybe? lets face it the facts pro’s and con’s will always be I just hope it comes to the USA. And I hope Nokia don’t do that bullsh_t with the n95 than launch the USA version after I sent $767 ‘I hate Nokia marketing team’
In the end nokia will call the world

You better be careful. The E90 haters/time warpers will be after you soon (the mods won't help) and they will get a group in secret behind your back in the PM spaces and plot your demise. Best bet is to say the E90 is **bleep**, not a Communicator, has flaws, and for the love of all that is electronic, please complain, complain, complain that there is no fax. This way you will buy into their good graces and they might teach you the secret handshake to their little club.

  • Looking for an effect that I thought was in Audition, or maybe I am just crazy haha

    For whatever reason I cannot find this effect (then again like I said, maybe I am just crazy because I might have seen it someplace else). Anyway, it is the effect that makes your audio come to a stop like it is playing on a turntable (losing power quickly). It sort of fades out while slowing down the audio.
    I looked through the effects and didn't find it and I could of sworn I have seen it before. I tried recreating the effect from the FTT filters options but it just didn't sound quite right. If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated.

    Effects / Time & Pitch / Pitch Bender / 'turntable losing power' preset
    It is a really cool preset it is!
    Only works in Edit mote, quite naturally.

  • Do we have to use FB DIMMs? Maybe it's just CAPABLE

    Do we have to use FB-DIMMs?
    maybe it's just capable of using those DIMMs if you want to dish out for the top of the line RAM.
    Will my current RAM work in the new MacPro?
    DESCRIPTION:
    2GB PC2-4200 (533MHz) non-ECC DDR2 240-pin DIMM memory
    upgrade kit (2x1GB) 2GB memory upgrade kit for Apple Power Mac G5
    2.0/2.3GHz Dual Core & 2.5 Quad. This kit contains (2) 1GB memory modules
    for required installation in identical pairs.
    Appreciate all your help. I'm trying to figure out how much it's gonna cost me to replace my Quad G5 with a Quad Xeon.
    Thank you,
    Evan Evans

    Yes.
    FB-Dimm is a completly new technology. The bus design that the RAM runs on is radically different- aside from the inclusion of an AMB chipset on each module, that handles the Bus->Memory Chip translation/buffering. It was designed for seriously-high density setups (over 8 RAM slots), as well as preventing/doing away with some of the signal problems inherent in DDR memory busses.
    The modules are of a different pin count and keying.
    Sticking DDR2 in there, err, forcing it in there, will make your MP release magic blue smoke.

  • Maybe this is a crazy question.....  (Or, how to select without the mouse)

    or maybe I have just forgotten how to do it. In Windows, when a message pops up asking me what I want to do (like save or whatever), I can just hit one of the left/right arrow keys to switch between the options in that message window. In OS X, I have tried everything, but the flashing blue choice won't move to a different button. For example, I am re-ripping all my music into iTunes in 320k MP3 format, so I am going through the Music list & deleting each album before I re-import it. The message that pops up gives me the options to Keep Files, Move To Trash, or Cancel. I don't want to have to use the mouse all the time, so I would like to select Move To Trash with the keyboard. How is this done?? Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Provided you have the "All controls" radio button selected under System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Full Keyboard Access, you can use your Tab key to navigate among the button choices in the iTunes dialog.
    Only the "Keep File" default button should remain solid blue. Look for the appearance of a bluish ring around the other buttons when you tab to them, letting you know they're active. Once you have the desired button highlighted, press the Return key to complete the action.
    Good luck...

  • Am I just crazy? Didn't there used to be a color picker?

    So, as far as I can remember, there was a tool in Leopard that let you hover over any color in any application and find it's code to replicate it... I thought it was called Color Picker and looked like a little eyedropper with a color wheel behind it.
    Now, I can't find it. I'm wracking my brain to locate it, but I can't.
    My main objective is to get a color I saw on a website into Photoshop, but since I can't find OS X's built-in color utility to get the hex code, I can't get it right in my graphic.
    Any suggestions on locating the Color Picker? Or on how to import colors from websites to my Photoshop swatches?

    Sed --
    I hope I wasn't one of the smarmy ones . . .
    I really thought you just weren't seeing it.
    When a user moves an app out of the place the system
    expects to see it, it will ignore it.
    In the past, a lot of users wanted to group all their browsers into one
    folder they made themselves, called, "Internet apps." So Safari, Camino, FF, etc.
    all went in that folder. When doing updates, the apps were not found free standing in the application folder, and they were ignored, i.e., never updated.
    So the explanation you got makes sense to me.
    EDIT: Maybe if you use it a lot, make an alias for it in the Dock where you can easily access it.

  • ILap + PB 17 = discomfort - Or am I just crazy?

    I bought an iLap a few weeks ago for my PB17" to use mostly on my lap and to hopefully use on a desk in school. Well, the more I used it, the worse my right hand and both arms hurt. My arms hurt from the pressure of the wrist rest which ends up being an arm rest instead due to the stretch to the keyboard. My right hand, or more precisely the palm, hurt the more I used the trackpad, again because of the wrist pad. Yes, I could take the wrist pad off I suppose, but I kind of felt like the PB would slide off or something. Not to mention, it's supposed to HELP, not hurt!
    I've looked all over the forums looking for similar "issues" with this and find that I may be the only one. Am I crazy or what here?
    Anthony

    Just a thought, you may just be a tad overreacting, just a bit. Take a deep breath, HOLD IT. Count 1, 2, 3, RELEASE. Ah, breath slowly, don't you feel a little bit better? No, No, like this, BREATHE s l o w l y, easy - s l o w l y .
    Why don't you try using the iLap without the wrist pad. It's much more comfortable! You can remove the pad by simply separating the Velcro and taking it off.
    It won't slip off, I've had it that way almost immediately. It doesn't move a bit even while using the PowerBook for for hours. Matter of fact, once you remove the wrist pad you'll never put it back on!
    I've had the iLap for since the day it was introduced and I LOVE IT! The iLap is a must have for any PowerBook or MacBook Pro owner.
    I'm surprised they haven't thought of a black anodized aluminum iLap for the HOT! HOT! HOT!* black MacBook. That would be one COOL combination!

    PS I also threw my last iPod in the ocean...oops.

    dan m-k: No problem. Click on the start menu and go to settings and go to Control Panel. Once the Control panel comes up, double click on Add or Remove Programs. Let the list of programs populate. Scroll down to itunes and click on remove. Just follow the instructions.
    Good Luck!

  • Maybe I am just impatient... but :)

    Hi there,
    We just switched from Talk Talk and I am fully aware and understand the 10 day settling period but I am extremely concerned about the performance.
    Just to give a bit of background, for about 2 years, Talk Talk provided us with a very stable 1.8mb - 2mb (around 200kbps download speed) connection but since November last year they kept upping it to 3.5mb+ which caused severe instability, they did not try to fix despite many promises, etc, etc, which is why we moved.
    In the weeks before moving, we regained a stable connection with them but no matter what sync we achieved, we got nothing more than a 15kbps download speed - even if we sync'd at 1.8mbps. The reason I pose this question is that we've sync'd with BT the last few days between the 160kbps (as shown below, but I think that may be a really weird one) and 1.5mbps yet still nothing over 15kbps on download speed.
    This is happening and (was happening with Talk Talk at the end as explained above) on my PC, my girlfriends Mac and the Xbox, using different filters, different modems and now the BT Home Hub 3.
    I guess the crux of the matter is, am I worrying prematurely and is this normal behaviour for staing out with you guys? I have no problems whatsoever if this is how it will be for 10 days, but I think after having my fingers burnt (so to speak) by Talk Talk over and over again. I guess I just need some reassurance to put my paranoia aside!
    Many thanks for reading this and I hope you're able to give me an answer
    Neil

    I'll try to answer to the above posts to the best of my knowledge...
    Yes, we are quite far from our exchange, but previously with Talk Talk we had ~2.2mb connection trouble free for over 2 years (until the last 6 months, hence the transition to BT) - that's with their cheap and crappy equipment too, so we are capable of better than 160k... I don't expect the world due to location, etc, but ~2mb is what we're more than happy with.
    I am actually connected to the test socket (the one behind the plate on the master socket) at the moment, it's something I forgot to change back when I had instability issues with Talk Talk prior to changing to BT. We only have one socket in our house and there is a filter in place. I have several spares which I can easily try if required.
    Me and my girlfriend both just tried the Quiet Line test as requested... we could hear an extremely faint, rhythmic clicking. We've never noticed a noisy line when making calls, but to be honest I'm not really sure whether it's something we've consciously thought about before.
    If you could advise me on what to do, then that would be great or let me know what you have to do, etc. I do agree that something doesn't appear to be quite correct at the moment... but on the positive side, we haven't had connection drops! Every cloud and all...
    Here's the latest data from the BT Hub although I doubt it will say anything that you don't already know.
    Many thanks for your help and I do still appreciate that there's a couple of days to go until the 'training period' is officially complete.

  • This is just crazy!! Optimization is ruining my iPhone

    I just spent a couple of hours shrinking a large quantity of photo's down to fit them onto my iPhone, and have now got 151 pictures down to just over 10Mb in overall size.
    I then put them onto my iPhone 3G, and for some reason, it took 80Mb of space!
    Is there any way to get my 10.6Mb of photo's to only take up 10.6mb of space?
    Is there a specific filetype/resolution that the iPhone prefers, over any other? I have Photoshop, so if I change them all to the correct type/size/resolution, will it reduce the space taken up to a sensible one?

    Sorry that you wasted your time. Regardless of the original size of the images, the 'optimization' that occurs for the sync makes all images a uniform size (resolution and disk space). Images will all end up as ~0.6 megapixels and 672 KB, even if they were smaller than that before 'optimization'. There's no way to change that setting.

  • Default File Permission (maybe umask) for just one SMB Share

    Hey Guys,
    I have the following Problem:
    I'am connecting to my companies Network and Iam mounting an SMB Share smb://192.168.100.3 - everything works fine. But everytime I create a file on the Volume it has the following permissions: -rw-r-r- and my workmates who work on Windows XP Machines can't edit the files because they have no write-permission.
    I now found these two solutions:
    - http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1577373&tstart=0
    - http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20071207091554360
    So know, thanks to umask, every file I create gets write-Permission for Group and Everyone. Also on my local harddrive and everywhere I create a file.
    Now my question is how to limit this whole umask story only to the mounted Networkshare. Or is there an other way to give writepermissions to my workmates on Windows?
    Thanks for your help!
    Luke

    There's no way to bind a umask to a specific share or mount. And as you've noticed, with the umask change you've made, everything (every user, system process, etc) now creates files using that mask. That's probably not what you want with a permissive mask. (Note, to make this less of a security issue, you can limit the umask change to only your user by using the /etc/launchd-user.conf file instead of the /etc/launchd.conf file).
    Assuming the machine you are connecting to is either a Windows server or a Mac, you could just use ACLs within the share. That will give you a lot more granularity and should be relatively quick and easy to set up...

  • Maybe I'm just lucky, but so far so good with iPhone

    First let me say that I feel badly for all who have had issues with their phones. I'm beginning to think that I just lucked out and there is no rhyme or reason for it.
    Stood in line for 4 hours June 29th to get my iPhone 8 gig. Took it home and activated at 7:30 P.M. that night. No problems (was an existing customer). 2 minutes to activate, another 5 or so to synch, and it has worked as advertised ever since. No syncing problems either way from or to phone (calendar and contacts). Email has worked fine. I learned much from everyone here how to manage my battery life, and that has been fine too. Today lots of emails, a little web browsing, lots of calls, Blue tooth on, some wifi, but mostly off and got a little under 4 hours "usage" and total time of around 8 hours. 2/3rds battery left.
    I don't think I've gotten the elusive "green glow", but the battery has always charged fully (plug icon). I have noticed one thing. If I plug the phone in to the ac charger for the night while it is still on and power off when the phone is locked the wheel spins for a very short time after the slider is turned to off. If I do the same with the phone on the home screen (unlocked) the wheel spins for a MUCH longer time. Almost like a reset. Not sure what this means, but again so far so good.
    Having said and posted all this I hope I don't turn the phone on tomorrow and all **** breaks loose, but I don't think it will. I'm also confident Apple will address most if not all of our concerns in the next software update.
    Good luck to all and thanks,
    CD3

    "Syncing" is another way of saying "transferring" or "connecting" your iPod to iTunes. So no, you cannot put anything on the iPod without syncing it.
    However, I think what you need is to set the iPod to manage your songs manually.
    This will allow you to transfer songs and videos to your iPod and not erase anything that is currently stored on it. If you are going to delete everything from your computer after you have transferred it to the iPod ( a very bad idea), then this is the setting you need.
    "why cant i play songs off my ipod while its connected to my computer, thats crap"
    Again, "manual song management" is the answer.
    Not crap at all really.

  • Maybe I'm just being stupid but

    Where on earth is the Uk support email address. I went into customer support, then clicked on email support. I selected my mp3 player type and when i got to the end it said that there was no matches and i had several options. I chose the email support one but it just took me back to the start which is obviously useless. My Zen is severely broken and i just want to find out how to get it repaired/replaced. Can anyone tell me how to do this. I have no intention of calling some premium rate number so can someone please help me.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    You could try this link and list down all the things that you have done on your unit so that they will not going to tell you to do the same thing again. Let's see how it goes then.
    Best of luck.

  • Maybe I'm just stupid...  Can someone help me with this?

    I'm building an application with Swing and am having trouble adding an actionlistener to a JButton. I have trouble with static/nonstatic variables and stuff. Should I declare the JButton outside of main? What the hell?
    Here's my code. Thanks!!!
    import java.io.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    public class editor implements ActionListener
    public static void main( String args[] )
    JTextArea myTextarea = new JTextArea( 4, 32 );
    myTextarea.setFont( new Font( "Garamond", Font.PLAIN, 12 ) );
    myTextarea.setLineWrap( true );
    myTextarea.setWrapStyleWord( true );
    JScrollPane myScrollPane = new JScrollPane( myTextarea );
    JButton myGraphicsButton = new JButton( "Add Graphic" );
    myGraphicsButton.setMnemonic( 'a' );
    JButton myBuildButton = new JButton( "Build Page" );
    myBuildButton.setMnemonic( 'b' );
    JPanel myButtonPanel = new JPanel();
    myButtonPanel.add( myBuildButton );
    myButtonPanel.add( myGraphicsButton );
    JLabel graphicStatus = new JLabel( "No Graphic Attatched" );
    JPanel myPanel = new JPanel( new BorderLayout( 32, 0 ) );
    myPanel.add( myScrollPane, new BorderLayout().NORTH );
    myPanel.add( myButtonPanel, new BorderLayout().CENTER );
    myPanel.add( graphicStatus, new BorderLayout().SOUTH );
    JFrame myFrame = new JFrame( "Robotics Site Manager" );
    myFrame.getContentPane().add( myPanel );
    myFrame.setDefaultCloseOperation( JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE );
    myFrame.pack();
    myFrame.setLocation( 300, 300 );
    myFrame.setVisible( true );
    public void actionPerformed( ActionEvent evt )
    }

    Hi,
    << Long reply follows... >>
    Where did you add the ActionListener to the JButton? You need to call the addActionListener(ActionListener l) method on the JButton so that the listener will be registered for Events. Your event handler is not being called because you never told the button to notify any listeners of ActionEvents!
    Also, there are a few things in your code that appear different to "standard" Java programming techniques. For example, class names should start with a capital letter, i.e. "Editor" instead of "editor".
    Generally you should keep the main() method as simple as possible. One way to do this is to make the Editor class extend JFrame, and call the Editor() constructor from the main() method. Remember to call the superclass constructor as the first line in the Editor() constructor.
    Also you might find your code easier to understand if you use inner classes to create the ActionListeners, rather than using the main class itself. This also means you can have a different ActionListener for each JButton, which is (I assume?) what you would want.
    You could use outer classes instead (defined outside the class definition), or even completely separate classes (defined public in separate files) but inner classes are appropriate here because the ActionListeners are only appropriate to the Editor class. Also, inner classes have the same access priveliges as the class they are contained in, e.g. the GraphicsButtonListener class can access any members of the Editor class, even if they are private or protected. Outer classes can only access package (default) or public members.
    You could also use anonymous inner classes for the ActionListener classes, but personally I tend to avoid this programming style.
    The following code is how I would write your small app. Of course others may write it differently and just as proficiently. When you have more experience you will develop your own style.
    public class Editor
    extends JFrame
       public static void main(String[] args)
          // this calls the Editor constructor
          // you can assign the object to a variable but it is not necessary in this case...
          new Editor();
       Editor()
           // the following line calls the JFrame constructor
           super("Robotics Site Manager");
           //........ initialisation ..............
           //........ add code here.............
           JButton graphicsButton = new JButton("Add Graphic");
           graphicsButton.addActionListener(new GraphicsButtonListener());
           JButton buildButton = new JButton("Build Page");
           buildButton.addActionListener(new BuildButtonListener());
           //......... now add the buttons/panels/components to create the UI ........
           //........ add code here.............
           pack();
           setVisible(true);
       class GraphicsButtonListener
       implements ActionListener
           public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent evt)
              // this method is called when the Graphics button is clicked....
              // access any members of Editor from here, even private or protected ones...
       class BuildButtonListener
       implements ActionListener
           public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent evt)
              // this method is called when the Build button is clicked....
              // access any members of Editor from here, even private or protected ones...
    }Note that I left out the import statements at the beginning.
    You could define an access scope modifier (private/public/protected) for Editor() constructor depending on your requirements.
    Finally, although it is not very important, you don't really need to use a JPanel, you can just add the JButtons/etc directly to the JFrame's content pane using getContentPane().add(...). Set the layout using getContentPane().setLayout(...).
    Good luck!
    Ben
    P.S. A "static" member (whether method or attribute) is defined and referenced at the class level, that is, only one instance of the member is created for all instances of the class, and to reference a static member you use the class name as the scope (e.g. "Editor.staticMember"). Static members are sort of like global variables in the traditional languages like C, except that they are contained in a class.
    A "non-static" member is unique to each specific instance (object) of the class, and is referenced using the object as the scope (e.g. "obj.member" where obj is an Object reference).

  • I think I've got a slightly unique burn problem...maybe I'm just an idiot?

    I'm trying to burn a playlist that I created on a DVD-R disk. I've tried updating drives and I installed a new Intel chip from the Dell website... all to no avail. When I click burn playlist to disk, my disk is ejected, when I click burn disk in the corner, I'm informed curtly that "this is not a blank CD" while my disk is again ejected. These are brand new disks, plastic wrapped and everything, so I know that they're blank. I've also tried with multiple disks, and even different types so I know it's not that either. Here's my CD diagnostics information if it helps:

    Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.

    The last failed audio CD burn had error code -128(0xffffff80). It happened on drive E: SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW-240B on -128(0xffffff80) media at speed 0X.
    I'm at my wits end, granted my wits aren't all that great, but still. If anyone can help (Toonz, you seem like an immaculate gentleman) I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

    I understand your wanting to burn a playlist to a blank DVD but is this playlist movies or music? If its a music playlist and your wanting to burn some music to the DVD as a backup, you will have to go into iTunes settings/preferences and set the disc format to "Data CD or DVD".

  • Maybe it's just basic iTunes usage i'm missing...

    But when I have purchased a single song, and then later want to buy the entire album, is there a smart way to do that ?
    The way I do it today, is: iTunes Store -> Search Artists -> Click Album and Buy.
    I'm thinking of a way like: Search song, Rightclick song -> Show Entire Album.

    Note that with *Complete My Album*, you complete every album for every song you have purchased.
    You cannot select only one album to complete.
    Umnn... My "Complete My Albums" page not only list separate albums but list separate days when the offer expires and separate prices for each album which can be selected one at a time.
    Is it possible you're considering the iTune + option which does work in batches of songs (at least it always seems to) ?
