I bought a used 2009 MBP (2.53 GHz 4GB)
I knew it only charged when I plugged it in, and just assumed it was the battery being a 2009 computer.
So, I bought a new battery on Amazon, and it was (apparently) an Apple part (or so i say because the batteries looked exactly alike)
So last night I install the battery to find that the original owner must've opened it, too, because 2 of the three battery screw slots were broken off and missing.
Whatever.
I install the new battery, and STILL it only works when plugged in. Upon plugging in the MagSafe, the light is amber for about 5 seconds and then turns to green. Last night, my MBP said "No Batteries Detected" with the black X but the battery condition was "Normal"
I reset the SMC and PRAM, and still it didn't see the battery. So I left it plugged in all night, woke up to find that the battery is now recognized, but still says: "Condition: Normal Battery is Not Charging Power Source: Power Adapter" then shows the battery with a plug inside it, with 0% next to the battery.
The computer shipped with a 60 watt charger, but the original owner replaced it with an 85 watt 3rd party charger after a pet incident.
I don't think it would be the motherboards seeing as how I just upgraded from 10.6.8 to 10.9 and the computer works flawlessly, and I guess replacing the MagSafe port is next.
Is there anything I'm doing wrong or anything that would cause this?
Third party batteries and chargers are always a high risk proposition. You have tried the correct things (except perhaps purchasing the Amazon battery) and the best option at this point is to bring it to an Apple store genius bar. Have them examine it and they should be able to determine what the flaws are. The diagnosis will be free.

It is ******* outrageous, and you should know that, guys. Get into the ******* database and correct the bug. Get someone in the partners-telephone carriers company (it is Orange as carreer and Cellcom as seller of the phone) authorized to Identify me in personal encounter in one of the branches in Israel (where I live) and make sure it is really me, and get the ******* system accept my password and let me use my phone.
Otherwise **** off. None of my friends will get my advise to buy an iphone or any of apple products. And I think you should be very attentive to cases like this, guys. Do your work for the money we pay, or disappear. There are many others eager to take your place, and if the problem is not fixed I will eventually go to the others. Vitas DijokasWell, it seems waiting is not my strong suit..! I renamed a javascript file called recovery to sessionstore. This file was in the folder sessionstore-backups I had copied from mozilla 3 days ago, when my tabs were still in place. I replaced the sessionstore in mozilla's default folder with the renamed file and then started mozilla. And the tabs reappeared as they were 3 days ago!
So there goes the tab problem. But again when I started mozilla the window saying "a script has stopped responding" appeared, this time the script being: chrome//browser/contenttabbrowser.xml2542
If someone knows how to fix this and make firefox launch normally, please reply! Thank you -

This is my Story...
About a week ago i was seddling into bed. I plugged my phone into my dock as usual, heard the vibrate telling that it was hooked up and charging properly. I went to bed, then woke up and went to grab my phone. I noticed it was only 94% the top right corner in the battery it didnt show the lightning bolt, which means its still charging. I never really thought anything of it at the time. by like 1:00 i looked at my phone, and it was already 50% I decided to plug my phone back into the charger. IT WOULDNT CONNECT!! i started to cry... what was i gunna do? that all my money spent on it! I tried my USB for my labtop, ive tried 2 different docks, and i also took it into Sasktel and they plugged it in to. After the day went by, my phone completly lost battery and... turned off!! thats when i started going into Sasktel etc. i was FREAKING out!!! (still am!)
All my phone will still do is when i press the power button it a picture of the red dead battery shows up, as well as a electricty cord sign, with an arrow to a lightning bolt. i know that means that it needs to be charged. Im so confused it still frashes and shows stuff on my phone.. so it cant be dead .. right? When i went to Sasktel, i got the worker to look at it. He shone a light in the bottom charging spot. he told me after like 5 minutes of looking in there that he can just barely see a super light pink olour on the "white" sticker. He told me it changes to red when it hits water, and moisture. but.... i nver got it wet. i just woke up with it like this. so, i sunno how that changed colour. im gunna call apple again tommorow and see what they say. i really hop someone can help me, i dont wanna loose all my pictures and contacts. i have some valueably stuff. 1,500 picture!!! :O sooo please! any idea is help, and i hope at least someone will try
So far, ive tried the trick where u hold the home and power button for 30 seconds. It showed the dead battery lightning bolt sign. And tried many different plugs. People say, that because its a little pink, its toast. i dont beleive that, cause, it worked alll day tell it finally died! no probablems at all. so i just need to get it backon again. ill tell you what apple says when i call. HELP

- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone

Try going to www.icloud.com and logging into your apple id. If you have find my ipad on you may be able to track it down. Warranty does not cover lost or stolen devices, and is strictly tracked by serial number. At the very least you could try to do a data wipe.
A positive spin is that your apps can be redownloaded for free on a new device if you can't find your older unit.

No app on the iOS device is required.
- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod/iPhone/iPad on the iOS device in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected or cellular data is on and connected for, on a computer browser go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up or continue to show off-line.
- You can also wipe/erase the iOS device and have the device play a sound via iCloud.

- If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the device and report to police and carrier if iPhone or cellular iPad
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the erase (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 or later on the device. With iOS 7 or later, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

My IPhone shut off by itself and I can't turn it back on. My lock screen button is broken and I tried plugging it into the wall but nothing happened. Can you guys please help me.
IIf the battery was completely drained it might take some time before the phone will respond. Wait at least 30 minutes with the phone connected to the charger. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. If the phone starts up let it continue to charge until it's 100%.
if the broken button will not let you do the reset Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support. -

I have a problem with my iphone 4. My 3G always stays activated but I lose my network signal. The bars all get lost and I'm not able to receive / send sms, mms or phone calls. Could you guys please help me fix this problem? Ios 5.1.1
I haven't gotten a new sim card because the problem has been presenting itself in various cards not only mine. So far, all I've done is reset my network settings.
Last night, I turned off the 3G tab and it had all the signal bars. Today, I did the network reset and it's working apparently. But like I said before, previously the bars just disappear and the iphone only has the 3G activated. -

What IDE you guys can recommend?
I basically use this programming enviornment: JDK+Emacs+Other shell tools.
It works very fine and productive to me.
However, I would like to try some IDE now since at this moment, I need to do a lot of things on visual looking. I think IDE might help. I used to use JBuilder, NetBeen, etc. So, I got SunOne and tried it. But, I was very disappointed. Looks like all old NetBeen's visual edition funtionalities are gone. But, there are much much more things piled into. I think, this is not good at all. Why would someone interested in visual GUI development care about Servelt and Server? It does not make sense to jamp all these into one.
So, what IDE can you guys recommend? I basically want to have a Visual Basic IDE like tools to do visual GUI things. I still want to do other things by my old way: JDK+Emacs+Other shell+Ant (Thanks for Cygwin, it works very well in Windows also). I am no fun of Microsoft. But, I have to say, its Visual Basic IDE is very good, though Visual Basic is a total joke.
What can you tell me?Yes. IDEs all have these problems. But, sometimes, it is much easier to use IDEs. At now, my application is ready. But, I need to polish it so that visually it looks great. To do so, I have a tons of small things need to be done. To do these small things, it is very hard in not visual approach. I hope I can find a good IDE so that I can just import my working jars and edit the visual lookings. Just change size, fonts, color, background, ... Hopefully, IDE will not change my codes too much so that I can still have good handle on all codes.
I think used the NetBean just can do this job. But now SunOne is so fancy and it can't do these things well any more. Too bad, isn't it?
By the way, seems the recommended IDE from IntelliJ does not work for my case. -

Long story short, made a few calls last week about upgrading devices. I am going to assume liability for my girlfriend's line and she was going to join my plan. It was cheaper for her to use her upgrade for the iPhone and for me to use my upgrade for a new BB Curve for her.
I got a few different stories as to what would be the best method, but it was ultimately determined that we should wait to transfer her line until we had the new phones activated. Then we could swap how we wanted to.
So, with new phones in hand, I called to transfer liability and find out what the best way to do these activations was. The woman told me that when we activate the phones and transfer them, we lose the manufacturer's warranty.
So now, I've got two new phones waiting to be activated, two separate lines waiting to be joined, and the woman I just spoke with was incredibly not helpful.
So for those of you who have done upgrades, what would be the best method here? Am I stuck with losing the warranty on both phones?
Any help would be appreciated. I do not feel like waiting 24 hours for a Verizon supervisor callback.barnanimal wrote:

I wish I could help you out and give you a definitive answer, but I don't know much about assumption of liabilities. I'm posting on here to bump this up, as it is a legitimate post, and not another one about how excited people are that they finally got their phones, or complaining that they have to wait one more day. IPod skipping the end of some podcasts?
