Mb cpu settings

I have a K7N2-L nvida gforce 2 board with a Athlon 2200 cpu.
I have tweaked with the FSB, CPU Vcore, CPU Ratio and I can never seem to get the best settings.
I had it set to the following configuration before,
CPU Ratio: 9.5        (Max of 13.0 allowed on bios settings
CPU Vcore: 1.675v     (Max of 1.800 allowed on bios settings
FSB: 200              (Max of 200 allowed on bios settings
but one post here said that my  FSB should be set to 133mgz not 200mgz. I am confused about this because by mb board supposedly supports a 333FSB, and I don't even know what the max FSB for my Athlon 2200 is.  I am hoping that you can shed some light on this because I believe my system runs games poorly compared to what it should as a result of incorrect CPU configuration. Thanks!!!

wonkanoby,
What is the default settings for the Athlon XP 2200 chip
(supposed to run at 1800 mgz)
  Default CPU Ratio?
  Default Vcore?
  Default FSB?
I've had a really hard time figuring it out even with the manual. I got it running before at 1.8gz but then someone said I should be running my Front Side Bus at 133 not 200.
What is the default FSB for the chip? Thanks.

  • K9N2 Diamond, CPU settings

I'm not sure what has happened, but my CPU is no longer being properly identified.
I have a 3.1 GHz AMD 6000 processor at 89W.  It is only showing it as a 3.0 GHz.  The bios won't let me adjust the cpu settings that I can find.  I tried adjusting the multiplier to what it should be, but when I log into vista it still shows only 3.0.
    Any ideas?

  • Config CPU settings

I was wondering if when I make my own kernel (Actually use the same .config from the arch one) and change the CPU settings to reflect my CPU arch, like K8, if I get much benefit that the regualr Pentium Pro settings.
I have not really benchmarked it as it takes time to compile each kernel. I was just wondering if others have tested this and whether you use a different CPU setting.
    Thanks!!!
    Joe

my own testing seems to show that your kernel and apps should be compiled for the same architecture to get the most benefit, although i haven't been too thorough.
my test was to compile mplayer for i686 vs K7, and i686 won slightly, the only decent explanation being that the kernel was compiled i686.
i was playing a very high resolution movie where the audio and video would go out of sync because the cpu i had at the time wasn't powerful enough to render it realtime. the audio was a few seconds less out of sync with i686.

  • Having trouble with BIOS CPU settings

    Hello,
I have a K7N2-Delta ILSR, and an AMD XP 2500+ 333 Mhz FSB.
I am having a hard time finding the correct settings to make my processor run at the right speed without having to hit the bios reset jumper :P
Right now i just have it running at 1.1 Ghz 100 Mhz FSB because thats the only settings i could find that allows me to boot up.
    Any help is appreciated.

    In Advanced chipset features
    CPU FSB Clock = 166
    cpu interface = normal
    FSB/DRAM ratio by SPD
    Memory timings by SPD
    In frequency/voltage control
    CPU Ratio = by H/W--------------------------------------------------------
That at least sould get you started.

  • Noisy imac G5 and CPU settings

    Ref- imac G5 2ghz, 10.5.6
    Hi All,
I just wanted to put forward the symptons of my imac G5. Due to noise I run the imac at the reduced CPU setting to avoid the noisy fans but lately it seems to have started getting louder and its a little bit annoying. I would love to run it at the highest CPU setting but the fans go mental but it does improve performance, I would like to think that I could be getting the full 2ghz power from the machine.
I have tried cleaning the machine inside and out and also reset the PRAM but still no joy. I wonder if anybody has any suggestions on this, I appreciate that this topic has come up in the past.
    Thanks

Have you made sure that the fans are dust free and securely screwed down?

memory set on default spd settings

cpu temp is 51'c sys temp 41'c

First of all you shouldn't increase fsb step by step but directly to 166Mhz, otherwise the other components become overclocked because of wrong divisor.
think thats sorted it doing it in stages 135 , 145 , 160 running @ 2ghz atm will go to 166 tomorrow
    set memory to 333
    so far so good  :D

  • Slow running L10 - power / CPU settings

    Hi
I've bought 8 L10s that all run incredibly slow. Looking in System Properties tells me that I have a 1.6G processor, but it's running at 600Mz. So I want to speed it up because 3 minutes to open up "My Computer" is 2.9 minutes too long :)
I've browsed these forums and read that I need to go into Toshiba Power Saving and under the basic tab select Maximum Performance to unthrottle the CPU and run the fan at full whack. Great... Only I can't find Toshiba Power Saving. I've looked on the Task Bar, the System Tray, on the desktop, in Start - Programs, in Control Panel, in Power Options in the control panel. Nope can't find it. Either I'm missing something or it just isn't here.
Can you please treat me like a noob and tell me *exactly* how I find it :)
    Cheers
    J

I have the same problem with a Satellite Pro M60 - 1.6GHz running at 598MHz, but I've played extensively with Power Saver and in the Bios, did a Bios update, the works. Also download all the utils I could find related to Speedstep, but nothing works.
This was after a repair on my motherboard by Toshiba. I don't want to send it in again!
REALLY Frustrating - could anyone please help?

  • Changed CPU settings in Bios=No boot

I changed the CPU FSB clock setting in the bios to 133, I changed the CPU Ratio to 12 ( a guess based on MSI CPU Support )
and now the mother board won't hit post .
I can't find the D-bracket to check the LEDs, got a nasty suspision my GF threw it out.
I have had the machine running nicely for a week, whilst I finnished some work . And it's been running pretty sweet, the only thing was the occassional crash, which I put down to the memory being too fast for the onboard graphics . I'm using the onboard untill the 9800 pro is released .
I'm think its the memory but like I said it's been working for a week .
I've shorted the bios, removed the battery, and nadda .
    any clues ?

unplug the power.........set cmos to clear.....now press and hold the front power on button for about 5 secs or so.......now place cmos jumper to save and plug the power back in.........If this does not work then repeat the procedure but place the j10 jumper to pins 2-3 and remove the j11 jumper completely.......now with the cmos in clear position press front power button for a short time.............place cmos to save and plug power back in .........try to power up if it does then set bios defaults........save and exit.....replace the j11 jumper set j10 back to pins 1-2 and restart the system......hope it helps.    GL

  • CPU usage regardless of settings (LOW CPU usage, high Idle) - Mac Pro openCL

    Hi,
I am rendering a semi complex scene in AE using a Mac Pro (2014) computer ( AMD GPU). I have a 6 core CPU, and it seems as though that when I view my CPU activity (using activity monitor) it shows that After Effects uses hardly any CPU (avg 10%) regardless if I use multiprocessor settings or not. I have tried various configurations of each but I seem to have no luck in getting After effects to use any more than 5% of the CPU when rendering these scenes (it's taking about 2-3 hours for a 20 sec comp regardless of settings - multiprocessor or not.
Also regardless of activity ( I could be rendering a very complicated, 3d heavy scene), my CPU summary suggests that it is about 95% Idle ALL the time.. again regardless of CPU settings (multiprocessor  or not)
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
I would like to use all of the CPU power that comes with this machine for rendering After Effects Comps..
it is why I invested so heavily into both the hardware and software
Is there somehting that I ma not understanding?
    Thanks in advance!

Hi, Thank you so much for your response.
I have a fast external drive via thunderbolt 2, 16 GB RAM, I am using most recommended settings via the Blogs/Forums. Is there anything you can suggest?
Am I limited to less than 5% of one of the 6 cores that I have on my computer when rendering in After effects? Most other apps are using a lot more resources than my after effects renders.
Thanks again for your help! I must be missing something

  • High CPU response times, altough low CPU utilization

    Hi Friends,
We have a performance problem after we migrate our basis system,
    The current system is :
    Database server : Sun SPARC Enterprise T5240 Server - 2 CPU's with 6 core, 8 thread, 1.2 Ghz
                               32 GB RAM
and we use another identical configured server as an application server.
Database is Oracle 10.2.0 and operating system is Solaris 10.
The problem is average CPU response time is 450 ms, and max. CPU load is %5 percent.
Pre-migration configuration with old servers, we had CPU response : 150 ms and max CPU load: 50%.
Has anyone of you, have experinced a similar problem with this new CPU's?
    Thanks in advance

    > I am aware that there might be lots of reasons, but what I  guess is, there should be a parameter wrong with the CPU settings. This SPARC server CPU is a new tech. 6 core 8 thread one, which is expected to work much faster than the old simple dual core CPU.
    Is it?
ABAP is basically a virtual machine and what is most important: ABAP runs single threaded. This means in consequence that the processing time of a program relies on the single processing power of one core. More cores means more parallelism but the speed of the single statement always relies on the power of one core and how fast it can get the data over the bus and back. So the significant number for speed is basically the Mhz (for ABAP, Java is very different).
Your old machine may have had a DualCore SPARC 1,2 Ghz and the new machine has one 1,4 Ghz 6core CPU (assuming so).
    > However its response time is very high, although it is never utilized more than %5 percent.
    see above.
    > The problem might be at database settings(Oracle 10.2.0) or at Solaris ? ? ?
    Well - no - I don't think so
Since ABAP is a single threaded application it can't leverage the CPU power due to the fact, that a parallelism in the program itself does not take place and hence the machine scales not linear with the number of cores. So you may have factually a machine with about 1 dot something CPUs and not 6 as you would expect.
This is not specific to SPARC CPU design but for all multi-core systems. A single threaded application is only as fast as the CPU speed. ABAP programs tend to be huge so you will also see effects of cache displacement and bus congestions. Less cores and more physical CPUs perform much better than any multicore CPU.
For Java the world is very different because Java works as one process (in the SAP case jlaunch) which has many many threads that can be executed in parallel on different pipelines on the CPU.
Unfortunately this is a design problem and there's not much you can do about it.

  • P6N Diamond, CPU Multipliers, 6x is sproradic?

    Hello,
Have a strange situation with my E6750.  I understand that only the Extreme CPUs have unlocked multipliers, but how about the run of the mill CPUs?   I have had my 6750 running at 6x450, 2700mhz, and I have a CPU-z shot to prove it. Weird thing is, during boot and in system information..it shows 8x450. 3616mhz..??  Stranger still..if I reset Cmos, I cant regularly boot at the 6x multiplier, sometimes it does, most of the time it doesnt.  Is this just a fluky bios thing..or just flukey to get it to run 6x?  If anyone knows how to definitely enable the 6x multiplier, let me know the correct procedure.  (I'm thinking about mounting a Cmos reset button on the desktop to speed things up:))
    Thanks in advance..
Oh yes..speedstep is disabled in CPU settings.

I say this to everyone who uses MSI's utilities.
Dual CoreCenter is junk! Don't use it.
    Download CoreTemp from here.

    3.  I disabled the on-board XFi because none of the x64 or x32 bit software would work with it.  Tried updating the software on Creative's site and each setup program said "no compatiable hardware detected."  I did have sound though and it *seemed* OK but I was a bit freaked out by none of the software working.
Use drivers from MSI CD, then update to the ones from the site here.

    5.  If I unlink the settings in the Cell BIOS menu and set the memory speed to 1067 Mhz (which the memory is rated to) and leave all other settings along I get Video adapter problems ("GPU recovered from a fault") and occasionally RAID failures.  Updated to Microsoft's latest RAID driver from Windows Update and that seems to have stopped but still get weird GPU failures with memory running at rated speed.
Did you set timings and voltage to what Corsair specs state? Should be a sticker on DIMM to tell you all that.

  • Tecra A8 - no max CPU speed under PowerSaver's "full power" profile

    Hi Everyone,
My Tecra A8-S8514 (Core 2 Duo T7200 @ 2GHz) has this problem: when I set the PowerSaver profile to "Full Power" the CPU sets its speed to 1.4GHz.
My company bought 2 of A8's and the test was replicated in the second laptop, which leads me to believe there's a bug with the PowerSaver application instead of bad hardware.
The Toshiba phone support ignore the fact that 2 laptops have the same problem, insisted I should do a system restore and if that didn't fix the problem take it to a service center. There was no way the "experts" would admit the application could be wrong and submit a request to the programmers so they can test and engineer a fix.
Please can someone else with a Tecra A8-S8514 test this? I used the Intel Processor ID Utility and a free benchmark called GeekBench.
    Thanks in advance!!!!

Hi, and thanks for your reply!
My CPU settings are set to "Dynamically Switchable" and the help file explains that this setting lets PowerSaver control the CPU frequency, so that's not part of the problem.
I see buggy software being released all the time and frequently wreaking havoc and causing chaos before the developers/publishers notice and take measures.
If Excel 2007 can't multiply correctly, PowerSaver can very well mismanage my laptop's CPU power, and I bet you Excel 2007 was tested more thoroughly than PowerSaver.
Like I said, I have 2 identical Tecra A8s and have replicated this issue on both. Do you have a Tecra A8-S8514 and have tested this?
Take a look at these screenshots, since they help illustrate the problem:

  • CPU Settigs Have changed

I have an MS6321 With dual 933Mhz, every once and a while I get a "CPU settings have changed, please save your settings before exiiting the bios" or something like that. It will not boot until I go into the BIOS and go to CPU settings and then exit. I don't change anything, I just go in and exit, but I have to do it twice! I do notice every time I see the settings, the CPU speed is different? THis is really annoying, HELP

  • (Solved) P67A-G43 Won't OC After BIOS 5.4 (BIOS Shows OC, but CPU-Z Does Not)

    After upgrading a P67A-G43 with BIOS 5.4 in preparation for a 3770k, the existing 2600k doesn't OC.
Setting the CPU ratio in BIOS shows the correct ratio in top right stats and in the ratio setting and, after disabling graphic splash, the correct multiplier is even shown on the POST. However, CPU-Z in the OS and benchmark results show only the stock 3.4.
In normal mode I tried 35, 37, 40, 44. OCG mode has the same problem. Although it show 42, CPU-Z shows only stock.
I can down-clock fine (and CPU-Z shows the correct down-clock ratio), but going above 3.4 is a non-starter.
    [SOLVED]
If you disable Turbo, the core limits are not shown in the CPU settings. You have to enable Turbo, set the core limits, and then disable Turbo.
