MB Pro and airport security

Ok, stupid question, but I haven't flown in a while.
Going thru airport security/x-rays won't screw up anything on my hard drive, will it? Like delete something, etc.

  • Macbook pro and airport extreme don't work

A friend (and all those tv commercials) say everything just works with Macs. Well, not exactly. New Macbook Pro and Airport Extreme can't connect me to the internet. I still have PC connected via ethernet cable to my cable modem and router which is in the basement where the cable enters the house. I've tried the different options in Airport Extreme setup and nothing works. It doesn't help Apple assumes I know everything about DHP PPPOE NAT or whatever all those silly things are.
Can anyone explain in +very simple+ terms how I get this expensive piece of aluminum connected to the internet?
    Thanks.

Hello sofarapplesux. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
I assume that you will continue to use the modem and router in the basement to get your Internet access ... correct? What is the make/model of this router?
If that's the case, I will also assume that you have the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) connected by Ethernet to this router ... correct?
So your overall network configuration should look something like the following:
Cable modem > (Ethernet cable) > \[Internet port] router \[LAN port] > (Ethernet cable) > \[WAN port] AEBSn ... close?

  • Good printers for mb pro and airport

can anyone recomend a good 3 in 1 printer that works well with mb pro and airport express?

I can't recommend a good one but I have had bad experience with Lexmark. If at all possible go with another brand.

  • Is anyone using NETGEAR Push2TV with a MacBook Pro and AirPort Extreme and does it work well for you?

I am interested in buying a NETGEAR Push2TV display TV streamer to use with my MacBook Pro and AirPort Extreme.
I saw on the Netgear site that a Intel Wireless Display/WIFI driver software is required for PC's; do we have this software installed already on our MacBook Pro's? Is any one using this box and does it work well for you, any problems or setup issues?

trying to find out same thing , store said works with new intel processor, My mini dont finding.....

  • MacBook pro and airport extreme router. How to print wirelessly to an old HP wireless photosmart all in one printer

With MacBook pro and airport extreme router, how can I print wirelessly to an old HP wireless photosmart all in one printer?  What is needed or what process?

You need to make sure that the HP has an updated printer driver that works with 10.6 for that printer. You can check here:

I need a new modem. Which modems work well with the MacBook Pro and Airport Express?

You need to inquire from your ISP which modems are compatible with their netwrok. They should give you a list.

  • Does Apple allow functionality between Logic Pro and Airport Express

That's it... Does Apple allow functionality between Logic Pro and Airport Express.
If not, Why not. It seems like such a logical Apple type solution. I looked and find it difficult to believe nobody has asked the question...

    There is your solution: http://www.rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/

  • Traveling with my MB Pro and want secure connectivity

Going on travel and want secure connection using the hotel wifi in my room - is an Airport Express the answer?  If so, I'm VERY fuzzy on how to make the connection - any help out there for a REAL novice?

Hotels, etc. do not usually provide secured connections within the hotel. A simple solution is to use software like Hotspot Shield 3.19 that you pay to use on a monthly, quarterly, biannual, or annual basis. The software itself is free.
You can use a hardware router to create a secured connection between the router and your computer. Such a device must be capable of enabling wireless security for a wireless connection or use NAT for a wired connection. Check the specs for the new Airport Express.

  • MacBook Pro and Airport Snow Modem

    Hi there,
I just bought a MacBook Pro, and was using it last night. When I tried to connect to the internet via my Airport Base Station (snow) using its modem (which I always did with my old Titanium PowerBook), I was disappointed to discover that I can't use the Airport menu to get the base station to connect to the internet. Nor can I use the Airport Admin Utility to access the base station. The computer will connect to the base station, but doesn't seem to recognize it beyond that.
I'd really like to know if there's a way I can get my MacBook Pro to recognize the base station properly and let me access the internet. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any solutions?
    Thanks!
    Christopher

The new Airport extreme with 802ac wifi WITH the new macbook Air with 802ac, if you have one, runs wifi at blazing speeds.
Have both the new Air and new Airport extreme, and since the limits were removed a couple weeks ago with 10.8.5 update,..... the new macbook Airs over wifi ac with the A.E. are just lightning fast, astonishingly fast.

  • Problem with Macbook pro and Airport Express!!!

I'm having the same problem I have seen others with right now with my macbook pro and my airport express. I have set up and reconfigured the A.Express 3 times now. I have the green light, i have the Ethernet configured, I have full bars of reception but I cannot access the signal. meaning I can not go online even though everything is set up correctly and says that it's good to go. Anybody have any advice?
Is it an issue with having to re access the network I created with the Airport utility?
It worked the first time I configured the A. Express with my macbook pro no problem. Then suddenly my computer was just not getting internet. Even though all the settings were ok and I was even getting full bars reception from the device on my comp. So I reset the A.Express and have been having the problem mentioned above since that point. Please help me if you have any advice. Thanks so much in advance.

I had the same problem, and to test if I was connected launched Safari and Safari after a few seconds of not connecting, it shows you a dialog box, with options to follow up, I follow the dialog box and like magic I am connected to the Internet.

  • IPad and airport security...

Anyone know if airport security treats the iPad the same as a computer (to be placed in a separate bin for xray).  I would sure like to go through security without dragging it out.

For U.S. airports, the Transportation Security Administration says THIS and: "Small electronics, such as iPods, can remain in carry-on baggage." (Source)
And there's a forum discussion on the subject HERE.

  • MacBook Pro and Airport connectivty problems with 10.4.8

Like others I have been having problems with Airport drop-outs since updating to 10.4.8. Using the shareware program (free trial) "Airport Monitor Utility" which displays various parameters from an Airport Base Station, it seems that although the signal level from the MBP is good, the AEBS is reporting high levels of errors being received. The same problem is not evident with either an old Pismo with a Motorola 54g card or my MDD (again with an add-in 54g card).
Both the PC machines have no trouble conecting to the Airport network and they are also both running 10.4.8.
The only way it seems I can run a reliable connection with the MBP at the moment is to run the AEBS without encryption but just using MAC address filtering and SSID disabled for security - far from ideal
I am wondering if the high error rate may be a cause for the drop-outs when using encryption.
Could others with MBPs, whether suffering this problem or not, please post the results of error rates if possible then we may be able to at least eliminate one potential cause for this problem.
I've tried all the other suggested 'cures' and had no success....

Despite the title of the article, the included solution may rid you of AirPort wavering in and out of contact with the base station. It did that for me.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304482
However, I was then left with the situation that is the title of the article! Ironic:) My preferences for a particular network would no longer stick, and AirPort was self-assigning an unusable IP address.

  • Having trouble making the macbook pro and airport express hok up

I have a macbook pro and the airport express hooked to a stereo. I need to connect the two together. I also have a lynksis wireless router that can not be hard wired to the airport express. Will this work because I am unable to make it work....
Do I need the express unit instead of the lynksis

Just checked that as well, it's set as a wireless N network that is B/G compatible... So it's got to be something else. Thanks for the suggestion though!

  • Mac Pro and Airport Extreme Card

I have a new mac pro and installed the airport extreme card. I cannot see my network but the system tells me the card is on. Any suggestions? I can connect with a direct ethernet connection.

I bought a mac pro last year and went for the wireless option with it. You know the upgrade. Anyway it came as a seperate item and i had to install it myself. It doesn't look anything like the one pictured here, well it just doesn't have a cover like it. So anyway i can't pick up any outside networks and when i share the internet connection with it i have to put my psp right next to the case to get a profoundly amazing 12% signal, Any ideas?

  • MacBook Pro and Airport Express

I have a Mac book Pro / Dell Laptop running XP and an Emac running OsX with a Netgear router using WEP password protection.
I want to use airport express unit to enable all computers to print on my Brother Hl5140 Laser printer but I cant get the Airport Express unit to register on any of the computers!
I have tried using the asistant by the AP express unit doesn't appear.
    Where am I going wrong!
    Thanks

You want to set up the AX in Client Mode...
To set up the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) in "Client Modet," using the AirPort Admin Utility, connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then, try these settings:
    AirPort tab
    - Base Station Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
    - Wireless Mode: Join an Existing Wireless Network (Wireless Client)
    - Wireless Network: <type in your Netgear wireless network name or select it from the pop-up menu>
    - Wireless Security: Not enabled
OR, if you are using security on your wireless network:
    Security Options
    Change Wireless Security
    - Wireless Security: <Select the appropriate level of security for your wireless network: 40-bit WEP|128-bit WEP | WPA Personal | WPA Enterprise>
    - Password: <enter your wireless network security password or key>
    Music tab (optional)
    - Enable AirTunes on this base station (checked)
    - iTunes Speaker Name: <enter name of speaker for iTunes remote speaker list>
I suggest you try, temporarily, removing wireless encryption, to verify that you can connect the AX to the Netgear. Once working, you can add it back.
