MB screen goes blk then comes back. A1181 model - inverter? LCD?

I have got a late 2006 A1181 black MB. It works fine..until recently over these past few months the screen goes black...then it comes to life again.
If I turn it on....it could sometimes be black...then I leave it and after a few mins it comes back to life.
Yet other times, I can power on and its fine.....
Then the other day it flickered so much on/of/on/off....
I have done the resets as suggested online....to no avail.
-you can still see the desktop if you shine a light on the screen when it goes black.
-The screen doesnt flicker if I open and close the laptop lid up and back ....
How do I know if its the inverter or the actual whole entire LCD screen thats failing?
Im in no position to pay £75 to have it looked at by someone at my local apple retailer.
And yes its still a really good little machine. ...and Im not looking to change it. Just now confused...shall I buy a new LCD or inverter? Ive seen the tutorials online and I think I could do those fixes myself...

So I did a clean install of 10.7.5 and for a day the machine had no issues. Then I used Migration Assistant to import the owner's user account. I logged into their account, deleted the temporary account I made, then rebooted. After that I tested it, and the screen DID go black on wake again.
Based on all this, I'm thinking the problem has to be some random corrupt file. Something possibly sleep related, or possibly display related. I'm going to have to investiage that avenue next. Any ideas what software issues might cause this kind of problem? In other words, what preferences files may be causing it?

My IPAD 3 [5.1.1 (9B206)] has a problem.
- It restarts every three (3) minutes: it goes out then comes back but lost the previous page (auto lock is set to 15 minutes)

Believe me according to your explanation it is not easy to say what happen exactly. In my opinion just an intensive check can result with some explanation.
Is your unit permanent connect to the AC adapter when this happen?
Is the monitor off function enabled in power manager?
On this way it is not easy to say what happen. -
The update to Photo Effects (Lite) v 3.0.0 won't work. I've tried for several weeks without any result. I press the download button and it disappears, then reappears again. Can any one help, please?
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

TV Screen goes blank, pixilates, then comes back
We have 2 sets out of 4 that will pixilate, go blank for 5-10 seconds then come back. It is very intermittent, may work fine for hours then will do this for several hours. All cable connections are tight, tv's are new. Any other ideas?

Try swapping the connections at the splitter: The 2 pixilating ones with the 2 that are OK. See if the problem goes with the switch. If it does then it's the splitter. By the way this is strictly a guess. -

JBPHad a second-hand TV once (I am cheap -- sue me). One day the screen went fritzy and the room smelled of ozone.

How can I transfer video taken with my iPhone to my iPad WITHOUT using a computer or iTunes? I'm going to Europe for a month and want to use my iPhone to take pics and video, then come back to the hotel room and use my iPad to edit/store each evening. I don't want to use my iPad to take the video...too large/bulky. And I WON'T have a computer with me...I purchased the iPad to take with me so I could use the RDC to my home computer and avoid taking my computer at all. Is this possible?
here is a cheaper solution than camera kit and a lot easier if you have WIFI available.
I use the PhotoSync APP (I think its a $1.99) will transfer videos and photos over WIFI to any other IOS device or even PC/MAC. Great app since I like doing video and photos on my IPHONE and transfer to IPAD2 without synching through computer or doing cloud based storage.
You can even send photos/videos from your MAC/PC to your IOS devices that way too. Makes it so much easier.

Firefox comes on, I go to a site rich w/ visual content & then the screen goes black & then white w/ with a bubble from the bottom bar saying recovery from igfx display failure..this used to happen on my Chrome browser (the Chr browser recovered spontaneously But I removed & reset it... still the problem went on & I quit using Chr for2-3 mos. There never was a problem on Opera. Hey! OPERA rule. As foe IE 8. That instrument is completely useless. Even all areon IE appears to be dead...Thanx!

When I rip a cd in itunes, then go to use another program, then come back to itunes, the cd stops ripping and the cd doesn't show up in the side bar anymore. What's going on here? I am running the x64 version of itunes in Windows 7.

Having trouble with music apps shutting down, even after I swipe them off the screen. They go off then come back on in a few minutes. This happens in my car either ubs plugged in, or bluetooth. ANy one else have that issue?

Hi,
I have an iphone 4 and all of a sudden none of the apps will work, except the ones that came with the phone. When I open them the screen goes black then it goes back to the homescreen.
Also when I plug the phone into itunes it only gives me the option to either restore or eject the phone. Up until today I never had any problems, I sync it regularly and all the software (inc itunes) is up to date. The last time I backed it up was about a month ago when I got the phone, (a replacement as my other iphone4 had loads of problems) so I don't want to have to restore it and lose everything off it!
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!Sounds like the device was dropped at some point and damaged as a result.

Hi all.
I have a two Dell U2412Ms connected to my MacBook Pro Retina. One is connected via a Displayport connection and the other via the HDMI. I used to have them both connected to the Displayport conenctors but have recently run a cable into my office and now have the ethernet dongle connected to one of the Thunderbolt ports.
Since connecting a screen to the HDMI port, I've noticed that it does something odd from time to time. The screen connected to the HDMI port will go off for a couple of seconds, and then come back on again. It tends to only do this once per 'session' of me using the system. Most times when the screen comes back on, it is fine - but once it came back on the screen was going bananas. It appeared to be mostly grey, but looking closer revealed that all the pixels were going nuts, like a swarm of flies - and there was all sorts of colours going on! I had to unplug the HDMI connection (which caused my windows to move around) and then reconnect it, and then it was fine.
This only happens when using the HDMI port, and is not the monitor at fault - I eliminated it by swapping the screens over so that the other one was using the HDMI .. and it still happened!As it turns out, the USB failed. The Apple people kept my PB and sent it for repair.
I dropped by the genius bar and left it with them on Dec 14 being told it would take 10 business days or so to get it back.
My trackpad button was very stiff, it stuck and had to press harder than normal to click. This was in effect since I took it out of the box when I bought it. Never bothered as I use a Bluetooth Apple mouse. Now that they kept it for repair for the USB port, they will also fix the trackpad. -
Machine randomly shuts off and then comes back on.
Hello! Basically whats happening is my computer randomly shuts off (No blue screen just powers off) and then immediately comes back on.
I am running three monitors and a single GPU. This has happened in two different cities (I moved) I have the same surge protector - however, other things on the protector do not reset / go off (alarm clock no battery).

I'm a pretty avid builder but I'm a bit stumped with this issue. The machine will, at random, shut off completely (including lights) and then come back on, during normal activities and gameplay.
The temps do not appear to be reaching astronomic levels, maxing out at around 60-65c (cpu) and 45c for the GPU.
Parts:
cpu - i7 3960x (turbo enabled normal at 3.3, w/ turbo at 3.9ghz)
mobo - MSI X79A-GD45 /// Intel DX79SI (have tried both, it still happens with either, MSI is a new board.
psu - 750 Antec Gold High Current Pro
gpu - MSI Lightning 680 (no OC)
sdd - samsung 840 pro
hdd - Black 1TB
case - HAF 942-x
cooler - x40 kraken
ram - G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 32GB (DDR1600)
Here's what I tried
1. Bought a new motherboard (MSI $260) to see if the issue would go away. - Failed.
2. Was able to reproduce the issue VERY quickly when using the OC Genie2 on the MSI board, with teh button pressed, I could boot up OCCT and have it reproduce the issue with the power-off in around 2 minutes of the test. - Failed
3. Attempted PSU and GPU stress test with stock BIOS, tests ran 1 hr+ each with no issues. Shut down my machine and restarted it this morning and the issue came back within 5 minutes of use just sitting at the Windows Desktop. - Failed.
4. Turned the 32 GB of ram to 1600 and enabled XMP, crashed after 3-5 days.
5. Attempting to test each DIMM individually.
6. Issue happened again after about two weeks of not happening.
I've run OCCT for an hour with the "stock" bios and it didn't crash for an entire hour. I've also attempted to use the "OC genie2" overclock function and that triggered a crash within 2 minutes of the run.
Can anyone give me some more things to try? I'm thinking its possible it could be the PSU, but after running OCCT PSU test for 30+ minutes it had no issues.* Bugcheck Analysis *
