MB vs hours to burn on 80 min 700MB cd

Why do I have 72.9MB for 1.3 hours of music in my iTunes playlist? I want to burn but I don't know if the MB is correct or else I am going to add more songs.

What type of disk are you going to burn - an audio CD or an mp3 CD?
If a mp3 CD then you can add more tunes to the playlist to burn up to the capacity of the CD. If it is an audio CD then you will need to trim the number of tunes. 72.9 MB will translate to 790 MB if burning an audio CD.
Figure about 1 min = 1 MB for an mp3/mp4 at 128 kbps. So when burning an audio CD then iTunes will create a file that is 10x's larger.

I replied long before post 7, but my reply did not get posted...instead it remained unsent. I have been having computer Internet connection problems. I was able to recapture it from restore feature of posting. Below is what I wrote.
    Thanks for the reply.
Just in case note....for a regular DVD player, granted it is important to have a video format that the player supports (namely DVD-VIDEO format); however, the other half of the consideration...the player needs to support the disc type (media type) that the video format is on. I do not know of a regular DVD player that supports DVD-VIDEO on a memory stick.
If you have recorded PAL 1080i (1920 x 1080 @ 25 interlaced frames per second), that interlaced video exists with Field Order: Upper Field First.
But, you end product DVD-VIDEO is characterized by Field Order: Lower Field First. If you run into this type of Field Order problem, then there are 2
possibilities to get that taken care of
    a. Assuming that you are using Premiere Elements 11, 12, or 13....set the project preset (manually) to
    PAL
    Hard Disk, Flash Memory Camcorders
    Full HD 1080i25
    or
    b. Import the source media using
    PAL
    AVCHD
    Full HD1080i15
and then, for each Timeline 1080i, right click it, select Field Options from the pop up menu, and then select Reverse Field Dominance.
When you export to file, you lose the opportunity for menus. The only export to file with menus is found in the webDVD export which is
in reality a flash file with menus. That might be a consideration for playback through the web browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox.
If putting a file on a memory stick is a working possibility, you might want to look also at AVCHD.mp4 1920 x 1080p25, but all depends on the
    support of the player.
Lots to think about. If you need clarification on any of the above, please do not hesitate to ask.

  • IDVD 5 takes approximate 5 to 6 hours to burn 1hr 55min video

I downloaded 1hr 55min video from my miniDV. I added titles, transitions, etc. When I finally burn it on DVD using the iDVD 5 program it takes somewhere around 5 to 6 hours. Is that normal? Is there any place you can select the speed you would like to burn? I figured once it is already "rendered" and complete, it should take an hour to burn 2 hour video at 2X speed, no?
Please explain and help if possible.
Thank you. Anil Dalia. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to all

I'll add some detail to John's suggestion about creating a disk image; which I always do.
    File/Save As Disc Image...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=164927
This will isolate any encoding/burning issues you may encounter. Once the disc image is created, double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that should appear on your desktop, using Toast to burn the DVD. Disk Utility to burn the .img file. Usually, you can select a burning speed in Disk Utility.
There are variations to this process based on which OS X you are using...
Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in Applications folder), click on the virtual disc (maybe the .img) in the left-hand window. Click the Burn icon. A new window should drop down and your SuperDrive tray will open after clicking the Burn icon. Insert a recordable DVD. (Verbatim DVD-R preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait. Select a burn speed. Then click the Burn button.
-->If the virtual disk selection won't allow you to click the Burn icon, use the .img file instead. This may have changed in 10.3.9 and did change in Tiger.
Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk to check your iDVD 5 project before burning to DVD. Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD Media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio disks.)

  • 3 hours to burn 38 minutes?

    i have a 38 minute movie (Best Quality) that's 7.6GB.
IDVD says it will take 3 hours to burn a DVD! Could that be normal?
don't have much experience with this stuff but sounds awfully pokey.
thanks for any voice of experience. do i have a problem or is this par for IDVD (i have im3)

    Lou,
Updating the OS and iLife probably won't do a whole lot to increase the time to create a DVD since this is primarily hardware related with the processor type (G4, G5, etc.), processor speed, and amount of RAM playing the significant roles.
How much RAM do you have in your machine? If you have not maxed it out, that might be a way to add a little speed to the process, but it will still be a very slow process. You will just have to get used to that. Sorry.

ISPs will sometimes throttle torrent downloads. Even then, you are limited to the upload speed of whomever you are downloading from. Usually that speed is very low.
When torrents are involved, no speed test is accurate.

  • LCD burn on iPad mini 16gb updated from iOS 6.0 to iOS 7.1.1

My 16gb iPad Mini "iOS 6.0.3" updated to 7.1.1 observed LCD discoloration in three corners and I don't know what causes the problem. I just can remember once or twice overly charged for a couple or three (3) hours three weekds ago. All of the sudden the display discolored and corrupted. I have turned it off a couple of minutes twice and resulted the same (burned LCD portion) and looks corrupted screen. As I turned it off a couple of hours, the screen looks OK by then and it operates well but the map looks like burn in the screens is well defined.Does this screens follows to LCD burn? It can be replaced?By how much?Thank you

try doing a full system restore
Hold down the home button and power button at the same time. This forces the screen to fade and the Apple Logo to reappear. Don't let go of the buttons until the iPad shuts off.
Once the iPad is off plug the usb cable into the computer.
    Open iTunes
While holding down the Home button plug the cable into the iPad.
Contunue holding the home button until the you the itunes logo and the picture of the cable on the iPad screen. This may take up to 30seconds.
iTunes should now detect the iPad and you can perform a restore. Just follow the on screen instructions and it should restore.
Hopefully you have a recent back up.
If you have apple care on it, just take it down to another store and they will give you a brand new one

  • 40 hours to burn a DVD? And it is still going ...

I have a brand new MacBook (Core 2 Duo 2.16 2GB Ram) and have a DVD project which is 2.6 GB in size (about 45 mins of 640 x 480 video, plus a single menu). I am trying to burn to a blank DVD in the internal drive. I am using iDVD V7.0 (1068). All my apple software is up to date.
I have now been waiting 40 hours for this to finish, at least 24 of which I have had the message "Multiplexing and burning", "Time remaining: about one minute", and "done".
I will cancel this now as clearly it is never going to finish, although the DVD burning does work as I did a test with a 30 second clip and a menu a few days ago to test everything worked.
Where do I go from here to try and get this working?

    Hi
DVD burn time (extreme) often has one of three origins:
    • CPU speed (and mother board) eg blue/white G3 with G4 600MHz (24 - 48 hours not unusual)
    • Low free space on internal (start-up) hard disc. Especially iDVD who can't use any other disc as scratch
less 5Gb - most probably no working DVD disc even if it reach goal
10 Gb - might work but slow and instable
25 Gb - my setting after material imported and structured
    • Untidy hard disc: Disc maintenance needed
Not knowing the origin - General approach when in trouble:
Many possible origins. Four most common:
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disc if it is less than 10Gb should raher have 25Gb
    • Hard disc is untidy: Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disc (Apple Disc Util tool)
    • Delete iDVD pref file - or rather start a new account - log into this and re-try
    • Program miss-match: iDVD 7.0.0, Mac OS X.4.10 AND QuickTime 7.2 - is OK

  • Best dvd burner for Mac mini

What brand of DVD burner is most compatible with the Mac Mini? I haven't found one that specifically lists Mac OS in the specifications information.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Many brands are compatible, including Pioneer for example, but for the Mac mini, I'd start with http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/mac-mini/superdrive/ for internal and http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firewire/optical-drives/ for externals. Of the latter, http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/MRBFWU2D112/ would be my own choice for DVD burner at reasonable price.
This supplier specializes in Mac peripherals, and these devices will certainly work. There are other suppliers and other brands of course, but the above is a good place to start.

  • Does iDVD really take 6 HOURS to burn a DVD???

This is my first DVD to burn on the iMac. Previously I have used DVD Shrink on a Windows machine which took about 1 hour from rip to completed burn. I have already used the Hand Brake program to create a mp4 and I am using iDVD to burn a new DVD and it is telling me that it will take 6 hours!!! Is this usual? Is there another way to do this?
    Thank You!

WHOAA!! Now it is saying 11 HOURS!!!!

  • IDVD takes to long 47 to 60 hours to burn/make dvd

I need help, im trying to burn dvd with a iDVD. But it takes to long mote than 49 hours is ridiculous, please help dont know other program to make cools menus as iDVD, or help me how to fix it please...

    Hi
There can be may things that do this. Most common are:
    • Use of old Mac - e.g. PowerMac G3 - a DVD was most often a weekend project
    • HARD DISK SPACE - are running LOW.
    - For SD-Video Materiaal (as on old CRT-TVs) - my minimum is 25Gb free space
    - For HD-Material - 4 - 5 times more are a safe low (100 - 150Gb free spave)
This space iDVD can not use on other external hard disks - it must be on the Boot (Macintosh HD) Hard Disk.
    • Use of Video-Codecs, Photo and Audio file formats that iDVD (and iMovie) has hard to or even can not use.
    I use:
    - Video-Codec: streamingDV, AIC or HDV
    - Photo - only .jpg (no .bmp or other formats - all converted to .jpg - and a reasonable size)
    - Audio - only .aiff 16 bit 48kHz or 44.1kHz (as on Audio-CDs) - NO .mp3 or directly from iTunes  - all converted to this
    • Material used stored so that iDVD (iMovie) has hard to get it - there are no copy in the project all must be easy to find (e.g. slow net-work storage - can give this problem)

  • 55+ hours to render a 3 min video?!?

Not sure if this is normal but I'm exporting a project from FCP into compressor for dvd 90 min 16:9 and it's taking over 55 hours to complete the project... this can't be normal right?
My comp specs are below and according to other testimonials, it shouldn't be taking this long... any ideas? Thanks.

  • 3 hour program - Burn to DVD ?

Can anyone help me please! I need to know if there is a
software program that I can drop a 3 hour QuickTime movie file into and burn it to DVD. This movie is actually being used on a closed cirquit TV. system. There will be 2 different 3 hour movies/DVD's that I need to burn and they need to be produced WITHOUT ANY MENUS. The 2 DVD prgrams will run 24 - 7 and the menu would stop the DVD player from playing continuously. Someone suggested DVD Shrink but, I'm sure if its available for Mac or, if it would work.
I would appreciate any insight anyone might have
    Thank you.

I created the 3 hour programs on Final Cut Pro 5 - exported as QuickTime movies and I do not currently have $600.00 to upgrade to Final Cut Studio. I had to replace my G4 recently and upgrade to FCP 5. So It's not in my budget. Also, I thought this was a question that only professional video producers would know the answer to or possibly a work around. I don't think to many professional video producers are discussing there problems on the iDVD board. So... if you know of any creative work arounds I would appreciate hearing them. There is probably not a lot of people that need to burn 3 hour DVD's with NO menu.
