MB2320 - Scanning multi-page documents and saving as a single, page-consecutive PDF

I just purchased and set up a Maxify MB2320 to replace my PIXMA MX892, which fell victim to the dreaded "Incorrect Printer Head - U062 Error." My only disappointment thus far is the replacement of "MP Navigator" with "Canon Quick Toolbox" and the unavailability of ADF-AutoDuplex scans. My problem: I've searched the instructions, tried the "Document," "Custom," and "ScanGear" utilities and cannot figure out how to scan multiple-page documents, have the scanned images appear in a single place where they can be put into sequential order, and save the whole mess into a single PDF file that can filed and saved in a folder designated by me. I'd very much appreciate a step-by-step tutorial on how to do that. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your prompt response and suggested solution. It worked! (One of the reasons I got lost is that the CSR I spoke to when I called initially sent me straight to the "ScanGear" tab in the "IJ Scan Utility," rather than "DocumentScan" (not "ScanDocument.") Couple other observations. When I installed the utilities onto my laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium SP-1, the shortcuts were installed to the Hidden Icons Folder in the System Tray, not the Desktop; I can pin the utility to the taskbar or add it to the Start Menu, but I can't create a shortcut for the Desktop by right-clicking. Also, after scanning two double-sided pages manually for the saved PDF, I was able to rearrange the pages into proper order mostly because the pages were graphically distinct enough to tell them apart in the thumbnails. This would be impossible for pages that are all-text, since the thumbnail images are so small. Is there a way to make the utility windows any larger, or otherwise make the thumbnail images readable? Thanks again.

If you have Adobe Acrobat (not Adobe Reader) the program can perform an OCR on the document you acquired.
In the past I used ABBYY FineReader

  • Scan multi-page less convenient in Acrobat Pro 8

Scanning a multi-page document is less convenient in Acrobat Pro 8.
In prior versions when a page had been scanned a dialog box was presented in which the user could simply press Return or Enter to scan another page, or Escape if there were no more pages to scan.
However, in ver. 8, the new dialog box defaults to "no more pages to scan" and if you nee to scan additional pages you have to reach for the mouse and click an alternate radio button, then click another button to scan the additional page(s). Quite a bit more movement required than before.
I realize this is a relatively minor issue, but it's annoying when scanning multi-page documents.

  • How scan a text document and save as editable text not image

I have a new ENVY 5660 and a macbook pro running yosemite.  When I scan a text document and try to save it, I am only given a choice of image formats.  How can I save it as an editable text in pages or word?

Hi , Welcome to the HP Forums! I see that you are wondering how to scan a text document, and save as editable text, and not a image, with your HP Envy 5660, on Mac OS X 10.10. I am happy to look into this for you!  According to your printer's specifications, it states: NOTE: Integrated OCR software is available only with Officejet 5740 and 8040 models. Which means, this software is not included with this printer. You might be able to perform this operation, if you are able to get third-party OCR software. Such as: ReadIris.  Hope this answers your question!  “Please click the Thumbs up icon below to thank me for responding.”

You need run OCR first using Acrobat, then you should be able to highlight text.

  • I have scanned a document and saved it to desk top - when I have then attached to an email it says no plug and attachments don't send. How do I add plug in so pdf documents can be attached and opened.

I have scanned a document and then saved it to desktop. It has saved as a pdf. When I have then attached it to email and sent - an message comes up saying no plug ins - The recipent couldnt open files. How can I rectify this so that I can attach pdf pleaase

search the app store for PDF Writer. I've found a lot that will convert documents to PDF, but none yet that will write within the PDF. One thing you want to avoid are cloud based apps. Any of them that talk about editing on the cloud, etc, aren't going to be as standalone as you want.
It's possible, if you can take your template PDF, turn it into a word document that you can edit, you can then convert that to PDF...kinda a workaround way to do what you want. And apps that convert to PDF are much easier to find

  • Modifying pages of a pdf document and saving so keeps separate pages

I could use some advice on how to do this. I have a pdf document that has 8 pages. I want to change some things on 4 of the pages. I open in Photoshop CS4 and it shows me the 8 pages. I select the first page I want to modify, change it but when I go to save the changes, my pdf document now saves as just that single page.
I need to be able to modify and save the individual pages but keep the concept of the original pdf file that has 8 separate pages. How do I change a page and "reinsert" it back into the original document and maintain the pages so when I send it as a pdf to a client they can open in Acrobat and scroll thru the pages.
    Thanks.

Mylenium’s assessment that Photoshop is not the tool of choice for pdf-editing is correct.
One exception is if the pages consist of no vector-data but (best only one) image/s.
In which case alt-double-clicking the image in Acrobat with the TouchUp Object Tool should open it in Photoshop and on saving there it should be updated in the pdf in Acrobat.

  • I use pages to draft forms that i repeatedly use in my business.  Last week i drafted a legal document and saved to my file. now i get message that it won't open without newer version of pages but i have the latest version  whats up??

I use pages to draft forms that i repeatedly edit and use in my business.  Ex:  letterhead, envelopes, and legal forms.  I recently drafted a legal form
for a client.  saved it and then reopened and printed the next day.  now when i try to open that form, ( or letterhead or envelope) i get a message that
it wont open and that i need a newer version of pages.  but my pages software is up to date.   Whats up with this??

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Note: Apple has removed over 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting all Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

  • Scan 2 images (front and back) onto a single page

I am using an HP 5520 and want to scan both sides of a card onto a single page. Can this be done ? My workaround is to scan both sides then combine the two images on a page in MS  Word but I feel sure it should be possible directly from sacnner without using Word

    Hello Risky1st,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand you are looking for a way to scan and print two images on a single sheet of paper, from the setting I have seen on the printer, this is not an option.
The work around you have found is the best and only thing I can think of too.
I wish I had better information to share, but have a great weekend just the same.
    Cheers,

I am trying to scan multiple pages into one PDF. I read the help document - which states that to add pages, one clicks on the "+" button on the left. However, my software does not show the "+" button. I have the latest version of the software. What's up with that?
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
Sounds like the software is not fully installed. My suggestion: re-install Full Feature Software and Drivers for your printer.

  • Create multi-page printable pdf w/CS3 Photoshop

Is this possible to do without downloading additional plugins/shareware in PS CS3?
Here's the deal... it's just a recipe I downloaded that was way too small to read easily.
    Ignorance to the rescue!
After enlarging the text, I split it into two PDF files, each 8-1/2 X 11 and saved them as 1.pdf and 2.pdf.
Each prints as expected but I must visit File/Print twice.  Two files, two commands, I get that.
But, can I merge these two files somehow so that I can File/Print just once yet produce both pages?

Thanks a million, Tom.  The least I can do is share the recipe with you even if you're maybe not a grilled steak or mushroom connoisseur.  Lot's of good recipes here besides this one.... http://mantestedrecipes.com/recipe/876/flat-iron-steak-with-a-bacon---mushroom-cream-sauce .aspx

  • PLACING Images in Illustrator documents and saving.

Is there any way to just embed pictures in an illustrator document, because I know when you PLACE (File> Place) them in, it creates a link, and if you accidently delete a pic or something it won't show up in your document you open.  My question is:  Is it possible once you place images in your document, to embed them permanantly without having them linked at all, yet still preserve editing capability?
I save out a lot of PDF's and sometimes the images are linked to the pdf's as well.  I always have (preserve illustrator editing capabilities) checked when I save out my PDF's in order to make changes regularly.  ANY HELP??

To embed images go to you links palette flyout menu and choose embed.
Experienced Illustrator users usually do not embed because
makes your illustrator files larger and slower.
cannot keep track of resolution or color space
they can keep track of their files without losing
making edits later is a longer process
overall control and management of image quality is better
Embedding images on large projects increase the overall project file size, because you make a copy of the image within illustrator each time you embed.
To edit embedded images, you need to copy from illustrator and paste them into photoshop. Problem is you do not know what original resulotion they are and you maybe upsampling the image or changing the colorspace/profile. If you still want to embed, you are better off , keeping an original image in your job folder, that you can edit in Photoshop, and then use the links palette in Illustrator to relink.
