You are not communicating with Apple when you post in these forums. We are all just fellow users and hence cannot to anything directly to assist you with this problem.
Hinge replacement in a MacBook Air is not guaranteed. It is left to the technician and service center to determine whether or not the MBA qualifies for replacement. See:

If you believe that your service center incorrectly evaluated your MacBook Air and hence incorrectly refused service, contact Apple Support and discuss the issue with them. You can find the phone number for Apple Support in Vietnam here:

Hi everyone! On my MacBook Air Mid 2009 13" hinges are broken, and i don't have warinty on it anymore.!
    What should I do?
    Thanks!

Still take it to an Apple store genius bar so you can get feedback on what it will cost for repair.
You can also see if you can find an Apple Authorized Service Provider and get a price from them, their work is accepted by Apple.
You can check iFixit.com and see if they have the hinge and price so you have another price for comparison.

  • I have a mba mid 2009, can i put the ssd in my mid 2009 mbp ?

is this possible would it be plug and play? after i install the ssd

    jhillyer253,
the Mid 2009 MacBook Air’s SSD is a 1.8-inch drive; the Mid 2009 MacBook Pro is designed to hold a 2.5-inch drive. Thus, you might need a bracket of some sort to be able to use that SSD in your MacBook Pro.

  • Broken hinge but no damage to physical screen.

So here is what happened: My destructive but otherwise wonderful puppy was sitting next to me while I was writing on my 4 year old MacBook Pro. Within a split second, my dog was flying past me and my screen was lying flat, almost hanging in the opposite direction that it should. Pretty much, the hinge in broken to the point where I cannot close it. There is a piece of broken metal frame sticking out from the botom left corner and the plastic screen cover is sort of "unglued." Here is the good part: Everything still works! I am currently typing this cry for help on it right now. I was wondering if there was a standard cost for fixing a problem like this, sans Applecare.  Please help!
    Thanks!
Update: Here is a picture of the damage:

This is an international community.  Prices vary from country, state, city, etc.  You should call the repair shop of your choice and ask for an estimate.  Make sure the estimate includes taxes, labor costs, etc.  Remember, no one can give you an exact figure until the repair techs physically examine your computer to confirm the extent of the damage.  AC does not cover accidental damages.

  • Screen flickers in Windows 7 on Mid-2009 MacBook Pro but not MacOS...

    Hey everyone...
My two week old MBP is running Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit using Boot Camp 3.1 and the screen with occasionally flicker to black and back. Sometimes, it'll stay black until I tap the laptop. I can even make it flicker by tapping right above the Play/Pause/F8 key. However, everything is perfect in MacOS. I'm thinking there's a software issue with the Sudden Motion Sensor but I'm really not sure. Anyone know how to disable it? Any other ideas?
    Thanks...

Actually, I've just noticed that it also flickers if I tap the right spot during the BIOS bootup (gray screen when laptop first turns on). Disabling the SMS in MacOS didn't make a difference, so I'm going to assume it's hardware and get that logic board that's troubling everyone else replaced...
    Thanks for your help...

  • Moving home but don't want to take services

    Hi,
I'm about to move home, but because of there would be a £130 charge for installing a new phone line into my new home and also because the contract would renew with 12 months, I don't want to take my BT services with me. I think there's 6-7months left from this contract and I also don't want to pay cancellation fee.
What's happening If I just unplug my stuff and taking with me? Or can I somewhere deactivate the services and still paying the monthly fee?

There's a guide here; you should be able to get an immediate quote from Billing Live Chat.

I would like to keep the email in Mail.app if i accept an calendar invitation.
currently it get removed when I accept it and places it in iCal.
    How can I do that.

For POP type accounts, go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Advanced tab for the account preferences, deselect "Remove copy from server after retrieving a message" and no messages downloaded by Mail will be removed from the server.
If you have multiple POP type accounts created and accessed with the Mail.app, this must be deselected under the Advanced tab for the account preferences for each account.
Or select it and below, your options via the pop-up window are:

  • My iphone 4S screen is broken and i need to replace at apple service centre ,how much it will be cost at apple service centre(ORIGINAL)??i

i want to know the cost of iphone 4s display in apple sevice centre(ORIGINAL)???

Apple does not sell parts. You cannot get a genuine Apple screen, unless it is one that was removed from a damaged or stolen device. If you want genuine, then go with the out of warranty replacement. If you are going to try and replace it yourself, then you get what you get. Take your chances.

I installed Windows 7 Professional 64 bit in my Macbook Pro Mid 2009 using Bootcamp 5.1.2 and from the beginning the sound is not working and cant adjust the brightness either. Tried installing all the drivers that people recommended from Realtek, nVidia and nothing has help me fixed the problem. is there a way that i could fix those problems?

Look in the Boot Camp system requirements located here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634
Find your computer model and year. I think you will find that you should be using version 4 of the Windows support software.

  • CHKDSK fails on fresh install of Windows 7 x64 on mid-2009 MBP with SSD

There was an earlier post about this that has been archived prematurely that I will reproduce below. The main issue is a flaw in the Windows 7 x64 CHKDSK of the SSD drive in the mid-2009 MBP= 5,2. With fresh OSX installs, bootcamp 3.1, Windows 7 x64 all updates, the CHKDSK operation checks files at about 1 per second in stage 4 of 5, verifying file data.
Moderators: please leave this open until it is actually resolved.

Windows 7 x64, MacBook Pro, frequent CHKDSK after HDD firmware update
    Posted: Nov 2, 2009 6:45 AM
Hello, I have been having filesystem problems on my Windows 7 partition since the HDD related firmware update (the latest Performance update) was released and installed onto this mid 2009 MacBook Pro.
The HDD is a 500 GB 7200 RPM model, but it never gave me any troubles under OS X before the "fix" and I know other users had intermittent problems with the HDD on their MacBook Pro's related to the HDD making noises and pausing.
The fix was released, I installed it and I started seeing my first problem in Windows 7 x64 a few days after... I cleanly shut the OS down, but when I booted it back it asked me to perform a coherency check to the Filesystem... I thought that the problem was related to the fact that I was using the RC1 build of Windows 7... although that problem never manifested itself in the weeks before the Performance Update (HDD firmware fix) was installed and Windows 7 x64 RC1 had been on there and used frequently.
I recently purchased Windows 7 retail a few days ago and after a bit of trouble-free operation I started having problems again... always shutting the PC down carefully and I was asked to run the CHKDSK utility at boot twice already.
    What to do?

    Hi there,
I have a different experience. I installed Windows 7 before the "performance update 1.0" came out. I actually experienced the chkdsk launch problem with Windows 7. I had done repartitioning and clean-install several times but cannot solve the problem. So I tried to install XP and Vista on my MBA (Mid 2009 with SSD) and found that these two OS doesn't introduce such problem.
To be honest, I'm not sure which caused such problem, Windows 7, a bootcamp driver, or EFI. But I'm sure that CHKDSK in Windows 7 has an obvious bug that needs to be patched (memory leak and maybe this problem as well). So now I'm using Windows Vista SP2. And I'm happy with Vista SP2 (seems to become faster and stable now).
    Cheer,

  • HT3413 How can I get composite video out of the 13" early/mid 2009 MacBook?

OK, the Mini-DVI - DVI Adapter "works with" the 13-inch, Early and Mid 2009 MacBooks.
But can it combine with a DVI to S-video and composite adapter so I can play video from my MacBook (one of the above) to my TV (composite input)?
It is stated in many places that the Mini-DVI to S-video and composite adapter doesn't "work with" these models, and I've proven that's the case.
But I can't find anywhere that explains why, or says more than "works with," or just tells me how I could get any external video from my MacBook other than VGA which is useless to me as far as I can tell.
    Thanks for any help!

Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
    1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the left mouse button until the disc ejects.
    2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
    3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
    4. Press COMMAND-E.
    5. If none of the above work try this: Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
         /usr/bin/drutil eject
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into Single-user Mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

  • SSD in Mini-PCIe slot on mid-2009 MacBook Pro

    Hi all
I've just bought a mid-2009 MacBook Pro (the one with a 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo and 9400M and 9600M GT).
I want to add an SD to the current mechanical storage to install OS X and programs on. I don't want an Optibay as I would rather keep the optical drive so I am now looking at the Mini PCI-Express SSD drives. Currently the Airport card is in that slot, and I can replace that with a small USB Wi-Fi dongle.
My question is does the slot run at full speed (i.e. 1x or 2x, as I hear some run at USB 2.0 speeds only), and is it fully-functional or has Apple limited it to the Airport cards only, as Toshiba do with some of their laptops?

I'm not talking about the ExpressCard slot, I'm talking about the Mini PCI Express slot. I haven't opened the mid-2009 model yet but I presume it has a Mini PCIe slot with a Mini PCIe Airport card in with the aerials surrounding the display, like 99% of laptops and the other MacBooks?

  • Mid 2009 MacBook Pro not reading SSD? Help

I have bought a Kingston Hyperx SSD for my mid 2009 MacBook Pro but the laptop does not see the SSD. I have booted the SSD externally installed OSX and it boots fine on the laptop but NOT when fitted internally. Is this a firmware/software problem or is my MacBook simply not compatible with this drive? I have tried everything I can think of and the IT guy at my work has not got a clue either! ImGuessing a standard HD will work but as my old HD died I wanted to go to SSD.
    Need some help ASAP!
    Thanks!
    Sam

The 2009 models were notorious for having faulty SATA cables and I'm betting that's the problem. Go to www.ifixit.com, find the part number for the SATA cable and search eBay for a replacement cable (ifixit simply want too much for the cable - and I've never known anyone who has received a faulty cable from anyone on eBay).
I'm at least 95% certain that's your problem.
    Good luck,
    Clinton
