MBA Track Pad gestures?

The track pad on macbooks and MBPs seems large enough to at least attempt the gestures. Does 10.5 support track pad gestures for all macbooks or is this a program unique to the MBA

Sorry Doc, The trackpad on the MPA is different. I wish it was just a software issue!!! But those gestures are unique to that trackpad and will not be available on existing MBP.....
But I think you and myself are thinking we would like to have that technology and probably thousands of other Mac users...so don't be surprised to see this in future Mac offering. That is, of course, if it works and users start raving about it!!!

Track pad Gestures stops working after upgrading to mountain lion osx

I upgraded to Mountain Lion Osx from Snow Leopard on my Macbook pro (Mid 2011 model) last month. However, it happens so that sudden;y all kind of trackpad gestures stops working. I have tried to find options on System preferences but nothing really works. i have tried unticking and then ticking again all the options to no avail. Even though restarting machine sometimes help but not always. Are their anyone with similar problems and if it is did you manage to come out with possible soutions?? If you did please kindly share as it is quite annoying to use machine without those gestures

i intalled windows on my macbook pro. after intalling all the apple support driver sotware every is fine but the mouse gestures never work. the most annoying thing is its inability to double tap to drag items and to tap and select is also not working. please i need help

Track pad gestures fail in Mountain Lion

I just installed Mountain Lion and I'm having occasional problems with the trackpad. Out of nowhere the gestures such as expose, all application screens, etc. fail to work. Even the hot corners don't work. I've typed "killall Dock" into the terminal, and that fixes it, but it's annoying to have to do that. Is there an update out yet? This is kind of a drag.

I want to configure the swipe and twist commands (besides swipe back and forth which is default).

Guess you have to install Multiclutch. Hmmm... have to install another app to use features... OK then.

Magic Track Pad with Lion 10.7 and Safari zoom aA vs Pinch to zoom

I enjoy a Mac Mini (early 2009) hooked to a 50 inch plasma and surf from my couch, stream etc... We browse with Safari 5.X and enjoyed the new Magic Track Pad with Snow Leopard. You could zoom / scale Safari with Snow Leopard beautifully, with a pinch out on the trackpad, same function as aA option on the browser task bar.
Now with Lion, the pinch to zoom feature zooms but doesn't scale the safari window the same way aA option used to. In lion a pinch out to zoom in will push a significant part of the browser screen off / out of view.
The aA option on the safari task bar scales the window, and keeps everything visible but larger, but now in Lion it is not available from the Magic Track Pad Gestures. The Button is still there on the browser but there is no option to access it from the track pad with a gesture.
How can I revert to the old way of zooming / Scaling a Safari web page with my Magic track pad in Lion?

You can see in that screenshot that a lot of browser.gesture.pinch prefs have an empty string as their value and thus won't have any effect.
You can restore some zoom feature by modifying the values of the related prefs on the about:config page via the right-click context menu.
* browser.gesture.pinch.in -> cmd_fullZoomReduce
* browser.gesture.pinch.in.shift -> cmd_fullZoomReset
* browser.gesture.pinch.out -> cmd_fullZoomEnlarge
* browser.gesture.pinch.out.shift -> cmd_fullZoomReset
You may want to toggle this pref (I don't know what effect this has):
* browser.gesture.pinch.latched -> false

HT1338 track pad not working after upgrade to mountain lion

I have just finished installing Mountain Lion and it apears to be ok but I have two imediate problems. Firstly the track pad gestures are not working, I can only select anything with the click switch, single selection by finger is not working. Secondly I have used the migrate assistant to transfer my files but I appear to have lost all my desktop shortcuts. I have installed all the upgrades which were advised on start up. I hope someone can help.

My brand new iMac track pad reverted to a system preference option that doesn't allow gestures to work or be restored, any suggestions?

I purchased a brand new IMac 21 inch a few weeks ago and restored it to my macbook pro. A few days later the gestures on the track pad stopped working. After listening to the advice of apple support and wasting a number of hours without success, I decided to restore the computer to new and start fresh. The outcome was the track pad worked just fine. I noticed the system preferences track pad choice provided options that I didn't have before. All worked fine and of course from their I migrated apps and documents from my time machine. a few days later I plugged my ipod in and noticed the track pad was not working.
Having spent another two hours with apple support, they concluded they would call me back as they agreed that the system preferences setup for the trackpad had reverted to an older version.
I am not certain if migrating the apps folder had anything to do with this and am waiting to hear back. I am tempted to restore the machine to new again and see if that restores the track pad system preferences. If it does I will avoid migrating any files to see how long the track pad works. I have my docs, photos, and other critical folders backed up individually on a separate drive. Let me know if anyone has experienced a similar problem. Thanks!

Have you tried all of these?
1. Pressing the Eject key while opening the iMac.
2. Pressing the Eject key while closing down the iMac.
3. Holding down the Option key while restarting the iMac.
4. Using Disk Utility to try to Mount, Repair and Eject the disk.
5. Holding down the Mouse while restarting the iMac.
6. Pressing the O and F keys while closing down the iMac.
7. Opened Applications > Utilities >Terminal and typed in 'drutil tray eject'.

Why in the world would Apple make the track pad LESS useful in OS Lion? I hate that I can't g back to the top of a web page with a singe swipe. And of course all the other gestures are totally reversed. IMHO, this was not an imporvement.

No one here works for Apple.
Go to System Preferences > Trackpad > Scroll & Zoom, and uncheck Scroll direction: Natural.

Command + W will close a window. Command + Q will quit a program.

Did Lion eliminate the finger gestures for show the previous page and show the next page? I've checked system settings for the track pad and it looks like the got rid of one of my favorite finger gestures when browsing the internet. How do I get it back

I've upgraded to LION. It looks like LION eliminates the finger gestures within internet browsing that used to yield navigating to the previous page or navigating to the next page. I think it was a 3 finger swipe to the left and a 3 finger swipe to the right. It looks like this has been eliminated. I've gone into the system preferences and went through all the new settings for the track pad finger gestures. I've not found a combination that allows me to swipe on the track pad to do the page forward / page back function.
How to I get this back? I was my favorite one and now I can't get there!

For going back to the previous page try a 2-finger gesture. Two fingers in the other direction will take you back.

I just upgraded to OSX Mavericks and when i use the gestures on my magic track pad it responds oddly. Sometimes it won't recognize when my simple gesture of scrolling through a document.

Gestures is not working like it did before. The side to side, forward back swipe, is very picky. Sometimes it takes four or five tries before it works. And yes I know how to do it. I have had a magic trackpad for about one year. And was greatly pleased by how it worked, BEFORE Mavericks. It has has indeed changed.

Erratic cursor and track pad when using 220v on MBA

I am travelling in Europe with my MBA, and I have noticed that when it is plugged into a 220v outlet the whole case has a slight electric charge (and a very slight vibration), this apparently makes the track pad very erratic, with the cursor jumping all over when I try to move it. I have resorted to unplugging the MBA when I want to use.
Any thoughts/solutions on this?

Some mouse gestures have been removed in Firefox 4.
You can restore the zoom feature by changing the values of the related prefs on the about:config page.
