MBA WiFi Connectivity SICK OF IT!

Bought the 1st generation MacBook Air and I have had nothing but problems with connectivity - it connects, it disconnects, signal is strong then it is non-existent. All other Apple computers in the house have absolutely no problems. Have tried numerous posted "fixes", replaced Airport Express with new model and still problems. Called support, went to the Apple Store - nobody can tell me anything and won't even acknowledge that others have the same problem. I just want to sling it against the wall!! I see all the posts here and I just want to know how we can get Apple to acknowledge that there IS a problem - How do we do that? I'm sad about my MacBook Air!

I have the same problem !!
I was quite happy with my MBA since last summer.
Just few weeks ago, my 80GB HD failed right after i upgrade to 10.5.7
I had Kernel issue first, the OS X couldn't boot up, always asked me to force turn off the power!
I then went to Apple store to backup my important files then i sent in for exchange a new HD.
I just get back my MBA for few days and suddenly i have this Wifi connection issue!!!
Exactly like everyone else's problem !!!
I'm testing out if it's the hardware issue, ex. Airport, mainboard, or the connector of the antenna inside.
I have one MB right beside, i can do cross testing and compare the result.
I was aiming on the Airport Extreme that i just upgraded the firmware to 7.4.1
(This version has bug for sure), because the MB has connection lost issue with this firmware.
I load back to 7.3.2 firmware and everything back to normal except my MBA still on and off every minute! I did research on internet and found out so many users out there have the same issue!
Now i'm thinking to do a fresh new install to double check and narrow down the possibilities on this issue, since the OS X on my new HD was installed by Apple store. I know they just do a clone install from maybe a retail version OS X because i found some settings are different then before ( i have FIREWIRE on my MBA ! ) and the keychain has been modified.
I now thinking maybe the OS X version issue. I have to make sure this point so i need to do installation myself from the DVDs came with MBA.

  • MBA wifi connection

i can no longer connect to my work wifi via MBA.
my iphone connection is not effected.
through network preferences it recognises the network, then connects for 30 seconds while it tries to authenticate (during which time emails arrive and are sent) then disconnects.
typically the connection has required a username and password - but in diagnostics it is only asking for a password and this is not working,
how can i ask it to prompt for a username and password?

  • RE: MBA Haswell 13 WiFi Connection!!!

    Ok guys,
It seems to me that everyone is experiencing the same problems with their new MBA 2013 WiFi connections.
I only bought my Haswell Macbook Air 2013 yesterday and I am experiecing the same problems. Although, I do have a temporary fix.. Well, it works for me.
So all I do is run the WiFi diagnostics and once everything is working again (green lights), I leave the window open (minimised into the dock), and the internet just seems to work. However, once I completely exit diagnostics window, my connection drops again.
Let me know if this works for you guys! (This is my first Mac computer too, what an excellent experience I'm having.)

So I practically need this open if I want my internet connection to stay stable:
Once I competely exit from it, my connection drops. This is such a pain the ***. I've even tried changing WiFi Channels, resetting all my internet settings, router settings, pretty much everything mentioned above and in other threads too.
I'm not going to lie, but I'm not sure what my router is. I've accessed the router but I can't find what Ghz it is too...

  • Intermittent WiFi Connections

I have a new Apple Thunderbolt Display and new MacBook Air 2011 which after a 30-60 minutes loses the WiFi connectivity.  I am using the Bluetooth Magic Trackpad with the Bluetooth iMac Keyboard.
Since I recently purchased the MacBook Air, I have been trying to establish a backup establish a Time Machine to my older Apple Time Capsule via WiFi, this only works when I disconnect from the Apple Thunderbolt display.
I have also connected periodically to a Seagate 2TB USB external drive.
I have to disconnect and restart to regain any WiFi connectivity.
I am using the latest OS X Lion and I have downloaded the latest software and firmware via Software Updates from Apple and all other software is up to date.
Curious to see if anyone else is seeing this issue.

Please disregard this Thread and instead reference the following thread.
    View the fulldiscussion
Last night I did attempt and applied the changes recommended to the Network Preferences in the above thread and saw some performance improvements.
For the Bluetooth system preferences there are settings available that could be tweaked.  Would it make sense that these settings be somehow changed to force them to not interfere with those same settings for WiFi?
    I have tried various scenarios:
As mentioned above, I have been connecting via USB directly into the MBA a Seagate 2TB external HD for iTunes music and ripped movies which take up > 150gb of space.
Plugged MBA into ATD without Bluetooth Trackpad & iMac Keyboard, WiFi worked fine.
Plugged MBA into ATD with Bluetooth Trackpad & iMac Keyboard, WiFi worked fine for a while before tabbed browser windows in Safari hourglassed and would not refresh.  Turned off Bluetooth, turned on Bluetooth re-connected, and all works fine until process repeated.
Unplugged MBA from ATD, WiFi works fine always (given that I am a WildBlue.Net Satellite user, that's an oxymoron).
Final note:  There are times when I have had all of the following "connected" to the new MacBook Air in one form or fashion which is a lot of stuff going on at the same time:
    * Power cord.
    * WiFi connection to Apple Time Capsule through to WildBlue satellite modem for internet.
    * Bluetooth Magic Trackpad
    * Bluetooth iMac keyboard
    * USB 2TB Seagate Ext HD
    * Apple Thunderbolt Display
    * USB iPhone/iPad2 for iTunes syncing.

  • How can i fix my wifi connection with my router

how can i fix my wifi connection with my router?

I think I'm having a similar problem, my wifi disconnects when a bluetooth device is connected to the MBA.
I have a MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2012) with WiFi and Apple Trackpad.  I'm unable to use the trackpad(bluetooth) and wifi at the same time.  If I turn off the trackpad then the wifi works fine and if I shutoff the wifi then the trackpad works fine.  This configuration was working fine prior to upgrading to Yosemite.
I experienced the same problem at home and at the office.
    Additional test:
I turned off the bluetooth trackpad and connected my bluetooth headphones to the MBA.  The wifi disconnected as soon as I paired the headphones with the MBA.
I have had no problems with the MBA's keyboard or integrated trackpad.

  • Why does my wifi connection stop working sometimes?

    Hello.
Maybe this has already been answered and I'm sorry but I didnt know what word to use in english to find the exact problem in google lol.
Well, The problem is that my wifi connection seems to stop working sometimes, it takes about 1 to 10 min and then it just comes back. I can notice it because Safari stop to load pages, the appstore doesnt load, and I tried with google chrome : same results
I experience this about 2 to 5 times a day, it's just pretty annoying. The wifi logo shows that it is always connected, it never shows that he is reconnecting
May this be a router problem...? Or simply the computer
    My specs : 1,6GHz, intel core i5
    2go of RAM. It's a 2 years old MBA
    Thanls a lot !

    Hi CPUGenuis!
I have an article for you that addresses this situation and will help you troubleshoot this issue:
Wi-Fi: How to troubleshoot Wi-Fi connectivity
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4628
Symptom: The network connection drops unexpectedly
Your Mac may not not stay connected to your Wi-Fi network reliably.
Your Mac may stop accessing the Internet during use.
    Solution
Use these steps if your computer disconnects from its Wi-Fi network unexpectedly.
Check your range to the Wi-Fi router and reduce the effect of interference.
If your computer is too far from your Wi-Fi router or your environment has too much Wi-Fi interference, then your computer may not detect the Wi-Fi network properly. The easiest way to check for range limits with your Wi-Fi network is to move your computer or your Wi-Fi router closer together and make sure that there are no obstructions (such as walls, cabinets, and so forth) between the router and your computer.
See Potential sources of wireless interference for more information about interference and solutions.
Try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network. If your computer works fine when connected to a different Wi-Fi network, then the issue may be related to your network router or ISP. In that case, contact the manufacturer of your router or your ISP.
Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities!
    Regards,
    Braden

  • I am trying to set up internet sharing from my macbook air but there does not seem to be an option for this because the air is connected to the internet via wifi connection. Is it possible to still share this?

I am trying to set up internet sharing from my macbook air but there does not seem to be an option for this because the air is connected to the internet via wifi connection. Is it possible to still share this?

It depends upon how the other machines are connecting to your MBA:
If the the other machines are also using wi-fi, they can connect directly to the wireless access point (router) without going through your MBA
If the other machines are connecting to the MBA using ethernet you can share your wi-fi connection to them

  • Still having WiFi connectivity issues. What can I do to fix this?

I have the new Macbook Air 2013, and since day one i have had WiFi connectivity issues. I know that this problem has been worked on and that a recent release of an update could help fix this problem. However; nothing for me has changed. I connect to my home internet and sooner or later my MBA disconnects and i have to reconnect it by either turning the WiFi on and off or going into network diagnostics. The time of my Air actually being connected varies from a coulpe second to a couple minutes and occasionally I may get 30 to 45 minutes before a disconnect.
If you could help it would be much appreciated.

That statement is unfounded, actually. ALL of those currently with wifi issues are able to connect via their iphone hotspot, or by means of their homebase AIRPORT base station, .....indicative of a software/ firmware issue.
Most dont consider a minor software/firmware issue an empirical defect, anymoreso than "forgetting something" is an empirical defect in a human being is.
The "speaker issue" is now uttterly proven a simple software issue, soon to be fixed, same is the case with the wifi issue.
You're forgetting that Apples 802AC  wifi is "next generation"  'tomorrows' technology. That a minor bug exists, soon to be fixed, is understandable.    Look on the bright side, ....the Macbook AIR is #1 seller and most beloved superbook out there for many reasons

  • Wifi Connectivity Issues, how to Downgrade

I am using a 13 inch macbook late 2007 model running snow leopard 10.6.4 My problem is that after waking my macbook from sleep my wifi errors and has the connection timed out or the invalid password when it is correct. My roommates are able to connect to the router perfectly fine and My airport can connect to my home network as well as the campus network. I have tried the various fixes including trashing the system config folder, adding a new location, deleting locations, adding and removing airport, adding and removing preferred network locations, repairing disk permissions. Im sick and tired of trying to find a work around to this problem. I have time machine enabled but I don't want to roll my computer back an entire year just to fix wifi connectivity issues. Is there a way to downgrade without losing my applications, and personal files. No i didn't make a back up before install, I just want a to downgrade to 10.6.3 which I never had connectivity issues, is this possible?

It is managed by apple but no direct responses are from apple, yes i have had problems in the past with arrogance and users showing no respect for "noobs". The genius bar is located 2 hours away and when I do have access im skeptical to leave my macbook with them because i NEED it for school work. But my intentions weren't to be negative but to shed light on a problem. I was being sincere and sometimes the truth is negative; there is most certainly a need because without bringing attention to problems how is anything going to get solved or changed? Also if you reread what i posted it states "Finally a forum where members AREN'T arrogant", meaning that I WASN'T referring to this forum.

Hi - you might want to post this question on the Apple TV area - you would probably get a quicker response - if you have a specific question relating to Apple routers then post back here

  • My phone is not working without a Wifi connection.

I had to get a new cell phone because my speaker phone no longer works. Luckily my phone was still under warranty. Now my phone does not connect wirelessly unless I have a wifi connection. I never had to have a wifi connection in the past to receive and send email, connect to the internet, etc.. How do I fix this problem?

    That surprises you?

Are you trying to say you cannot connect via your carrier's cell network?  You did remember to put the SIM in?

I have a 1st gen iPhone that I just updated the software to 2.0.2
Now whenever I press the mail icon it goes to the mail app for about 4 seconds, does nothing, no loading of folders, old messages, nothing.
Then it reverts back to the home screen. Tried restarting, haven't tried restoring, thought I'd look here first.
    Anyone???

  • On 3G we cannot send emails from either our iPhones or iPad and this also happens with some WiFi connections but not all.  Yet we can always send emails from our Hotmail Email account.  What is causing this and what do we need to do to resolve it?

On 3G we cannot send  Business emails from either our iPhones or Ipad and this also happens with some WiFi connections but not all.  Yet we can always send emails from our Hotmail Account using both 3G and WiFi.
We bought the iPhones and Ipad so that we could send emails while we are out of the Office, but we are not able to do this unless we can find a WiFi connection. Incoming emails are fine.  We use IMAP, for Business emails just incase this is relevant and I know that Hotmail is POP3.
Our technical IT knowledge is not great, so we look forward to your suggestions as to how to resolve this.

Contact whomever supports the email account and get the correct Outgoing email server settings from them.
