MBA with 10.8 and Dell Projector 3200mp

Hi,
My boss has a Macbook Air (purchased Jan 2013) with OS X (10.8) and an old Dell 3200MP projector and tried connecting via VGA cable with adapter for MiniDisplay. I'm not sure exactly what happened next, but the short story is that it didn't work so she had to use an older MacBook Pro (also with upgraded OS 10.8), which worked perfectly.
Does the Air not work with this 10 year projector?
Should I be using an HDMI cable or something?
Would appreciate any information that you can share.
Thanks!!

  • Setting up new printer with MacBook Pro AND Dell?

Need a printer, want an AIO, any work better than others with MacBook and Dell?  Purchased a HP Officejet 6500A Plus, any problems using both systems togehter?  Also, should I set up the Dell first then the Mac, or viceversa?

Thanks for the help, I'm definitely getting there
I changed the settings as you've described and can now print from my MBP. The 3 Dell laptops are another matter. Would you have any idea what the IP address of the printer would be? Or the AirPort Extreme? I'm following this tutorial:
    http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/1004.html
without much success but I'm really guessing at the IP address. I've tried 192.168.1.1 (my router) and 192.168.1.101 (the IPv4 address) with no luck. I suspect it's the IP address that's the problem ...
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

  • Printer issue with 10.6 and Dell All in One 968W

The Dell All in One 968W is basically a Lexmark 9500 series with a Dell badge. Dell do not support OSX but Lexmark have previously supplied a driver that works and allows me to print on the Dell printer.
However with 10.6 OSX will no longer support the Dell printer. I have tried using the supplied Lexamrk 9500 series dirvers with no luck, and I have tried going to back to the older Lexamrk dirver. The error message suggests that I need to get an updated driver from Lexmark. Lexamark do no yet provide this.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

    Hi
    Have you find any solution????
Lexmark has a lastest driver the 9500SeriesWebInstaller1.0.1.dmg released the 09/15/09 but it doesn't detects the printer
if we delete the default snow leopard driver for lexmark and install this new????

  • QuickSilver 867 G4 with default ADC and Dell 1704FPT LCD DVI

I finally have a digital LCD to use with my Quicksilver 867 Mhz G4, thanks to a package deal with Dell.
But I wonder if my Mac's build-in ADC support can drive the DVI input of the Dell 1704FPT LCD, with Apple's ADC to DVI adapter, or if I need to get a DVI video card for this purpose. I plan to run at a 1280 by 1024 resoultion.
For that matter, I have a DVI switchbox and Sony 19" DVI digital LCD in use with my PC's and Mac mini. Would the build-in ADC support that as well with the adapter?
    Thanks for our input.

Update: Here are the specifics on my card and monitor. I note no core image support.
I'd really appreciate feedback on whether I can use this card for DVI output to my LDC monitor.
    Thanks.

  • Trouble arranging monitor display with 2 monitors and a projector

I just installed Yosemite (it's pretty awesome) and I am having a little trouble with screen arrangement. I think it has something to do with each display now having it's own menu bar. But what do I know?
I have an iMac, a second monitor and a LCD projector. I was sort of navigating out the top of second monitor to get to projection screen. And the way back to screen one was tricky. I was running the dvd player and it lost picture and I had to get to my iMac and fiddle around and then move dvd app back to projection window again. I'm sure there is a better way to handle this.
My lcd projector looks way better now. Very happy about that.

  • Wireless print server with Mac G4 and Dell PC's

I have a belkin wireless router and a linksys WPS54G print server. Hardwired by ethernet cables to the router are two computers 1) Dell 2400 and 2) Apple G4.
I am trying to get the Apple to print to the printserver. the linksys software set the Dell up and the print server and they work fine. I have tried everything i can on the Apple but no luck. Seems to be the driver. The printer is printing gibberish from the mac. The printer is an Epson Stylus Photo R320. I dowmloaded the drivers for Mac OS 10.4.4... from the epson website - I chose each one for the printer on my MAC and tried to print. The result was either no print out or differing gibberish each time. What can I do?

Please search this forum. Your precise issue has been covered several times. You have to use a CUPS driver for network printing - Epson's drivers are Carbon, not CUPS. Start by updating the Gimp-Print drivers that Apple included in OS X to the next newer version, now called Gutenprint 5.0.0:

  • Scanning Problem with Mavericks, CS3, and Dell 2155cn

New MB Pro running Mavericks.  Adobe CS3 loaded.  Acrobat Pro will print to network Dell 2155CN, but will not scan.  Same installation on older MBP running Lion scans from Acrobat with no problem.  Does Mavericks have a problem with the Dell driver?S

Might be the driver. I don't see a Mavericks compatible driver > http://ftp.dell.com/Pages/Drivers/dell-2155cn-cdn.html
It just says Mac OS X. That's rather vague.
    Try this workaround.
Image Capture can scan for you. It's in your Applications folder.

  • Syncing problems with iphone 3g and dell computer

Whenever I connect my iphone to my computer, it recognizes it as a camera, not as a phone, and it asks me if I want to use microsoft word or another random program to see photos. itunes doesn't recognize it at all. How do I get itunes to recognize it?

A couple of things that might help out.
Open computer management by clicking on start and right clicking on my computer, then choose manage.
When the computer management window opens, expand services and applications on the left.
Click on services and see if Apple Mobile Device is running on the right.
If it is not running, or is not set to automatic, try starting it.
Also if apple mobile devise is not installed or will not start, this article might help out uninstalling and reinstalling itunes.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1926?viewlocale=en_US
If the apple mobile device is installed and will just not start, try uninstalling your security software.
    Once uninstalled, restart your computer.
Once the computer is restarted, open computer management to see if apple mobile device will start.
    Hope this helps.

  • Do I need anything else along with an iPad and a projector ( and a laptop maybe ) to conduct a presentation?

    I don't have any adaptor.
    Thank you so much.

    Hey fargonorth,
Thanks for the question. To connect your iPad to a projector, you’ll definitely need an adapter. If your projector has an HDMI input, you can use this adapter:
Lightning Digital AV Adapter - Apple Store (U.S.)
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD826ZM/A/lightning-digital-av-adapter?fnode=3 a
If your projector has a VGA input, check out this adapter:

    Thanks,

When I connect my Macbook Pro to my Dell DLP projector, either via cable or wirelessly, I just see a dark screen with the mouse and mouse trails only, can any one help?

jpmarkques post is a good start point, after folling his directions, you can try detect displays. Also try different rsolution and refresh rates.
Most of the projectors I have used support a 1024X768 res.
Youcan also try a pram reset if it still does not detect.
Leave theproctor connected and powered up, power down the MBP.
Power back up the MBP and hold the following keys before you hear the start up chime:
Option, command, P,R (no commas) continue to hold these keys till you hear the start up chime 2 times.

  • Weird Colour Saturation issues with MBA and Dell U2711

    Hey all,
Just picked up a new Dell U2711 for use with my MBAir and my PC Workstation. I have the MBA hooked up to the monitor via the DVI imput with the official Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter. What i'm experiencing is some bizzare colour saturation discrepancies. I've attached two screenshots to illustrate the issue...
For some reason, icons in the dock and in Launchpad are displaying WAY more saturated than their icons when displayed in a regular finder window.
Has anyone else seen anything like this? Any ideas where I could start looking to find a solution?
    Thanks!

Just updated the post with a new screenshot that better illustrates the problem. I origainly had a firefox issue as well, but that was fixed by changing the colour correction settings in that application.

  • Horrible-looking video with Dell Projector

    Hi guys,
Forgive me for posting anything regarding compatibility with a Dell projector - I had no choice. A customer had a room set up with a Dell DLP projector. The MBP recognized it just fine. However, the video output (using the VGA dongle) was just horrible. The video looked low brightness, and very high contrast. Subtle gradients were absolutely atrocious looking. The output when driving with a Dell Laptop looked much better.
Hooking up the VGA output to a Dell LCD monitor, and to a Sony CRT monitor looks just fabulous, however.
Do you guys have any idea why the video would look so horrible, and what I might be able to do to correct it, outside of buying my own projector?
    Sincerely,
    Rob
    MBP 2Gig   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

You're going to get horrible colors with 99% of all the projectors out there, especially the way most conference rooms are setup.
Things I've noticed that really help with the de-facto business standard of Dell projectors.
    1) Use a white background. (yes it really, ***** to make UGLY keynote presentations). But unless the room is pitch dark, black, and especially the gradient black look horrible.
    2) Always design for 1024x768, 99% of all the projectors are still stuck at this resolution.
    3) Keep stuff away from the edges of the screen, the Dell's destort the edges pretty bad, and often the setup in the conference room makes the image crooked on the wall/screen

  • HT201667 I rented a movie through itunes on my ipad and wanted to watch it with friends on a digital projector, but it wouldn't allow me to do it.  Is there any way around this?

I  rented a movie through itunes on my ipad and wanted to watch it with friends on a digital projector, but it wouldn't allow me to do it.  Is there any way around this?

The issue was that a dialogue box came up which said that I couldn't play this movie on another device.  I tried playing the same movie on an Tv with an HDMI connection attached to an adapter to the IPad and that worked.  I wonder if the problem is that the digital projector has a VGA connection.

  • Is it possible to use iCloud between a MBA with Lion and a iMac with snow leopard?

I have an iMac with Mac OS X 10.6.8 and an MBA with Mac OS X 10.7.2. I want to use iCloud to synchronise my pages documents, my calendar and adressbook between the two. Is that possible?

icloud for snow leopard does work if you do the following:
    Go to iCal preferences.
    Set up new account.
    Account Type:  CalDAV
User Name:  Your MobileMe / iCloud email address
    Password:  Your password for above

  • I am considering buying a MBA but i need to do word processing, making power point presentations, and also to use publisher for work, does the MBA have the ability to do these things, if so will I be able to continue with work done on a MBA with a PC?

I am considering buying a mac book air and I was wondering if I can still do word processing, make powerpoint presentations and use publisher like i would on a PC? Also if I can then would I be able to continue with work done on the mac book on a PC and all the computers at school are not macs ?

I am using the 11" MBA with Office 2011 (with latest updates).  The form factor is great for travel.
Powerpoint presentations work well, but there are some issues with creating a presentation under OSX then continuing editing under Windows (Powerpoint 2010).  I've experienced problems with custom backgrounds not rendering correctly while editing slides under Windows when the original presentation was created under OSX.  If you stick with the "standard" themes I imagine you'll be OK.
Also, there is a major drawback in that there is no IR port on the new MBA(s).  Therefore, you cannot use an Apple Remote to control a slide show.  Yes, there is an app for the iPhone that can control a Keynote slide presentation using Bluetooth, but since I haven't tried it, I cannot say if that app will work for Mac Powerpoint 2011.
What is really needed is an "Apple Bluetooth Remote".  (please, if anyone from Apple is listening...)
Your only option to run Publisher is to run Windows in a virtual machine (e.g. Fusion or Parallels) with Publisher installed as there is no Mac version.
I run Fusion with Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 configured as a workstation and Office 2010 as my main travel machine and it is very responsive.  Even using Windows Aero Theme which is knowned to be graphics intensive.
