MBA13 turns black randomly for 15 sec, then works fine again?

Hello there amazing apple users!
I've just bought an MBA mid 2013, 13.3", 8 RAM, i7 cpu, and Mountain Lion 10.8.5 --- and maybe or maynot be important? using, google chrome Version 30.0.1599.69
Right in the middle of doing something (often surfing the webb with chrome) the screen goes dark(grey-ish), but with a sort of light behind it so you know it's not turned off. The mouse works right over the top of it. You have to wait and wait and eventually it goes to sleep, and then i press any key and its works fine again?
This can happend 1 or more times each day!
My first thought was that it had anything to do with my smartphone who often lies next to the computer. Some strange interference in some way but it keeps happening even with the phone far away.
I've just did an SMC and PRAM -reset, recommended by the apple support - but it didn't fix the problem, first thing this morning it happend again.
Some one who can help me with this? Is't Google chrome related ? phone related? any other software problem?
Please help a new and first time apple user to not get disappointed

When opening a web page, a blank page about the size of a third of the page appears for a sec then the full page comes up

when I open igoogle or any other website, a mini blank page (about a third of the full screen) appears for a sec then the full page complete with info appears. The blank page displays only mozilla firefox, the next full size shows the complete web site, e.g. google, yahoo, hotmail, etc. The lap top does not do this only the desk computer. This has only started recently. We did up grade our dsl speed but they ATT has assured us that the problem rests with the browser.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

I tried to hold the power button for 3 secs. then simultaneously hold the home button for 10 secs. then hold only power button for 20 secs. I tried this several times to no avail. This is my daughter's ipod. I am computer illiterate and I'm not sure what else to try.

Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)

Next try placing in DFU mode and then restoring.

Try downloading it with another browser.

Do you have a back up?
If not you're into using file recovery software like File Salvage - you can download a free trial and it will scan the disk for you and tell you with might be recoverable. Actual recovery will require that you purchase the app. There may be many files with the same or similar names. Always recover the largest file size.
There are other such apps. Search on Macupdate or the App Store

Why does my screen turn black when I play iTunes while working on iPhoto?

Why does my screen turn black when I play ITunes while working on iPhoto? I can't click off of the screen but get a message that reads Shut down computer by pressing button in back then turn computer back on by pushing button in back. That's followed by Chinese letters (which I cannot read). I have had other problems when playing iTunes (actually, a radio station on the Internet) while working on iPhoto. Before, I got a window that would pop up and tell me I had no disk space available, that I would have to quit applications that were open. Not many were open.
It would be nice if I could solve this problem once and for all.

Go buy yourself a iPhone 5. Sync your iPhone 3GS to iTunes on you computer so you have a back up ready to put on the iPhone 5. If you want you can update your iPhone 3GS with iTunes on your computer, but this is not necessary.

When you plug it in to iTunes does it show up under devices? Try restoring it. That's the best thing you can do if you're out of warrenty

Black screen just before login. laptop works fine though any fix?

recently as I turn my laptop on just before the login menu I have a ~30second black screen then its goes onto the login menu, I was wondering if there is any fix for this, my laptop works fine afterwards

We regularly use Cocktail by Maintain software. You run the whole gamut of options but the important one is in System - Databases - Rebuild launch services. Also in Files - Caches - then clear the lot.

Lightroom must be installed via the Creative Cloud Application.
It sounds like you have installed a Perpetual Licensed Version or a Trial Version of Lightroom. Uninstall any versions you have installed of Version 5 and then reinstall via the Creative Cloud App.
