MBAir inconsistent display detection

Greetings, Apple Support,
Using a brand new MacBook air with a relatively new - purchased new but slightly old - Vizio 24" monitor. At first it worked fine, and then after leaving with my machine and coming back to use the display again it simply would not detect it. I tried the oddly hidden detect display button, did not work. Finally after power cycling the monitor, unplugging the cable countless times with restarts, it worked. Then the next day, didn't. Since then it has been slightly better, and usually when it fails to detect the display I can power cycle it and then it works.
Today, nothing is working. Scouring forums I see a lot of people blaming their display problems on software or firmware updates, which is definetly not the case with my machine, as I bought the machine and display at the same time and haven't updated. (I did update to 10.9.2 today but this changed nothing).
Although it doesn't detect the display, the MacBook screen does flash black for a split second, just like it does when it detects my display--it knows something happened. However the resolution doesn't change and I see no mirroring icon. What's more, system profiler says that nothing is connected to my thunderbolt port.
I'm using a rocket-dog HDMI to thunderbolt cable, seems to be good quality.
Please help me fix this infuriating problem and / or help to restore my admiration for Apple / MacOS.

MacBook to Samsung T260HD via DVI no display detection

Hello,
i try to connect my MacBook Pro pro via DVI to Samsung T260HD. but it don't work. only "no display detection" on screen. i try the same setup on a T240HD in a shop and it works without any problems. i try my old PowerBook G4 and it also work at the T260HD. only Macbook Pro -> DVI -> T260HD don't work. anyone experience with this setup?

I plug in the dvi and the monitor stops displaying no signal, but no monitor is detected by the laptop.

MacBook to Samsung T240HD via DVI no display detection

Hi,
I just bought a Samsung T240HD Display and want to connect it to my MacBook late 2008.
In order to connect the two I bought a Mini DisplayPort to DVI connector plus a DualLink DVI cable.
When I connect all of it, my display goes to sleep and the MacBook doesn't detect the display.
When I only connect the cable to the display and the adapter to the cable without hooking it up to the MacBook, the display detects a connection, but obviously there is no input signal.
The question is, of course, what the **** is wrong?

I have the same problem with my T260HD. HDMI works great (1920x1200), but DVI doesn't. I can configure it to run at 1920x1200 in vista, but when I logoff/logon again the screen goes blank and stays blank. Plugging in the cable in another monitor and then in the T260HD seems to 'wake up' the display again. Dual link cable doesn't help.
Is there any conclusion on what the real problem is ? Is it the firmware or the Samsung monitor driver ? Anybody got this setup to work ?

Display Detection

I am trying to connect my 2008 unibody MacBook Pro to a Sony Bravia 1080p TV with a Monoprice minidisplay to HDMI cable. Plug it in, nothing happens. Go to display preferences, click Detect Displays and Gather Windows, a display pref window pops up with the title "Sony TV" at 1080P, but no picture on my TV. Am I doing something wrong?

URGENT: inconsistent display of design time pages

hello,
I have installed oracle9ias rel 2 on a single machine running on windows xp for academic purposes. i seem to have this problem of getting errors when loading pages and the buttons on the pages doesn't work. sometimes the pages displayed are also messed up and inconsistent. how can i solve this error? Currently,i'm stucked at trying to develop a form for Portal and it keeps on giving me errors on step 4:Formatting and validations.
here's a list of things i've done currently to try to solve the problems :-
-restart OC4J_Portal instance whenever the page doesn't change but it still keeps on giving me errors.
-set my internet explorer to check for newer pages everytime i visit the pages.
-install netscape navigator and hopefully it would perform better than internet explorer. but it's still the same although it improved a bit.
would the situation be improved if i installed Oracle9iAs on windows2003 server environment?
Or would it be better if i installed Oracle9iAS with UTF-8 character types instead of the OS default type?
anybody that has installed oracle portal on a single machine environment and have encountered this problem b4 please help ?i'm so frustrated by keeping my fingers to press f5 for hundreds of times just to get a page load properly. please help it's urgent. thanks in advance

I noticed that on a web page I had. It turned out the text on that page was in a graphical object and the text on the other pages was not. Replacing the first page with a plain text presentation made my links consistent.
Your problem could be another issue. Best would be to provide a link to your site so we can give it a look.

Inconsistent display of navigation pane

Hello folks,
Sorry if this has been covered. Did a search but didn't find
a thread that addressed this issue.
I am generating WebHelp via X5.0.2. We use a
context-sensitive system using RH's Map IDs. Each call displays the
correct Help topic. However, sometimes only that topic displays;
other times, the topic displays with the expected nav. pane,
Contents/Search/etc buttons (which is what I'd prefer). I inherited
the current configuration of RH and cannot find out the cause to
this inconsistency.
Any ideas?

I would think that has to be something to do with an
inconsistency in the way the developers call the help rather than
the output you have produced.

Turn off display detect

I have my tv connected to my mac book pro and if I switch from the pc port to tv my mac thinks I disconnected the display and turns off the extended screen. Is there a way to turn off auto detect?

VGA Display Detected But Has No Signal

Hello,
Here's the issue,
I'm working on a 13" MacbookPro 10.8. I plug in mac's "display port > VGA" adapter to display my second screen on projectors for a power point presentation. The Mac flashes the screen like it recognizes the display and when I go into the display settings it gives me the second screen options just as it should. However, the desplay remains black as if nothing was ever plugged in. I did the exact same thing on my personal computer which is a 15" MacbookPro 10.8.4 and the projector works fine ruling out any issues with the gear. I've gone to several forums and tried all of the "unplug this, turn this on, wait 15.5 seconds." tricks that people say to do but to no avail. I'm going to try to update the system to 10.8.4 and see if that works, just waiting on passwords since it is a work computer.
Any Ideas?

It was the update! I guess 10.8 had some issues with the projector but all is well with 10.8.4

Leopard Inconsistent Display Drivers?

I just installed Leopard on my iBook G4 12" (mid 2005 model) and since then, the display driver randomly switches between the correct driver and a generic one (or so I'm guessing). The generic driver offers a bunch of unsupported display settings in system profiler, while the correct driver limits the choices to 2 display settings. Is there any way to correct this? I don't get a startup screen nor brightness control function while the generic driver is active (90% of the time). Tried clean installing tiger, still same issues. Tried pram/vram and pmu reset, not working at all. Here is a screenshot of the two driver profiles in system profiler (the correct driver on the left, generic on the right):

I know other users are having brightness control issues as well (in tiger/leopard) so this might also help solve their issues.
Thanks to anyone who can offer ideas on how to fix this. I really don't want to revert to Panther.

The vendor's website has the same info from a year ago ... the actual manuf. of the board is unknown, no name on it ... uses Silicon Image chipset ... but there is no driver update for Leopard. The vendor is a small company that makes enclosures and SATA cables and has poor Mac support. I'm not going to waste my time.
I mistakenly posted this in the wrong sub-forum ... but don't know how to make it go away.

Inconsistent display of hyperlinks

I'm using iWeb for the first time. I've created a page with five hyperlinks and have formated them all the same--same "normal" colors and the same "rollover" colors-- but when I preview them by opening the index.html file or view them online, three of the links display in the wrong "normal" color. I've deleted and re-made them, published them to the folder and overwritten the existing files, and re-published the page to iWeb, but keep getting the same results. Am I missing something/doing something wrong? I appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Inconsistent display of tracks per artwork item?

I imported two songs from an album into iTunes. I gave them both the same artwork, marked their track numbers (like 10/25) correctly, and marked them both as 'part of a compilation'. When I browse music with the artwork column expanded, each track is listed by itself instead of both of them on the same album.
If I close the artwork column, they appear as I would expect, together when sorted by album. I can't get these to go on the same album with the artwork column open no matter what I do. Some other albums have 5-6 groupings of tracks, all with the same cover art. I doesn't seem to make any sense.
So - how do you combine songs into an album so that the artwork display doesn't separate them again?

MBP Freezes upon display detection when external monitor plugged in

My new MBP (2.16GHz Core2Duo) will freeze up temporarily when I plug in an external monitor (I use a Compaq MV700). This monitor has served my two previous Powerbooks well, so this seems somewhat anomalous.

Is it just this display or all displays? You might want to try resetting PRAM and NVRAM…

Inconsistent display of Muse site on mobile devices

I know that Muse doesn't fully support mobile devices at this point, but it should be possible to have at least some level of consistency on how the websites are displayed when opened in a mobile browser.
My website is supposed to fill the browser window, but when viewing the site on a mobile browser, the pages are aligned to the left, and the 100% width elements are cut off. However, on some pages, it looks fine, and on other pages it looks even worse.
Here are some screenshots that shows how differently the pages are displayed. I have also included a screenshot from a normal browser window. What can I do to make the site look "normal" on a mobile device? I have tried using some viewport meta tags, but I can't seem to get it right. Please help! It's embarrassing to have a company website that looks ridiculous when opened in a mobile browser.
This is the front page. As you can see, the horizontal header and footer has been cut off, and the page has been aligned left instead of filling the browser window.
This page is displayed even worse! The header and footer has been cut like above, but the whole page is scaled down to expose even more unnecessary gray space to the right.
This page is displayed correctly! However, other pages pages with the same bookshelf have the same issues as above.
This is how the website looks in a normal web browser. The header and footer follows the width of the browser.

The "correct" behavior for elements with both rollover and click behaviors on Mobile Safari is that the first tap provides the rollover behavior and a second tap provides the click behavior. For menu items with submenus this behavior is broken. The first tap both shows the submenu and follows the link on the top level menu item.
We don't have a fix for this yet, but it should be fixed for the next quarterly release of Muse (curently looking like late August).

Inconsistent Clipping Detection

Hey all, I'm new to Waveburner for mastering, and new to mastering in general, so be gentle if I am asking a really common question.
When I "Check Disc for Clipping" on my current project, I get a response that says that it isn't. Fantastic. I'm using the built-in adaptive limiter (which I'm not pushing very hard... I hate the 'modern' loud sound of rock CDs). However, when I go to bounce the project to HD as dithered AIFF files, it gives me an error saying that it's detecting clipping, and subsequently cancels the bounce.
I've found an option in Preferences to disable canceling the bounce upon clip detection, but I'd like to know why it is giving me this error when the preliminary check is telling me everything is hunky-dory. Should I just ignore the error?

I ran into a similar issue last week. WaveBurner usually reports the location where it first encounters the clipping. On my project, for some bizarre reason, it started adding 30-60db pops where a few of the songs overlapped (the pop was NOT in the source file, WB was just acting silly). I ended up creating a new WB file and rebuilding the project, not the best solution, but it worked in my case. I would check exactly where it is clipping and make sure you are not having the same problem!

Epson projector not recognized. I have recently migrated to keynote on apple air. today my presentation time disaster . projector kept saying no input. i restated the computer. went to display detect computer. nothing worked. Last ten lcd detected.

what can i do so this disaster does not happen again. i was carrying my presentation of powerpoint with me so somehow i managed through other computer.

Due to a copy/paste glitch, some necessary spaces have inadvertently been removed. If I could fix this, I would.
