MBAM 2.5 - Remote SSRS instance

Trying to install the MBAM Databases and Reports feature on the same SQL instance. The SQL box has other production database instances and I'm not able to install the MBAM bits on the server.
I installed the MBAM bits on the server that will be hosting the administration console and was able to install the databases on the remote production SQL box. However I'm not able to install the Reports feature remotely as the pre-req checker is looking
for the SSRS instance locally. I tried using the Enable-MBAMReports cmdlet, but keeps failing that it's missing the pre-req.
Is there any other way to install the Reports feature remotely without installing the MBAM bits on the SQL server?

Not sure if this is possible as the MBAM Setup only copies the bits to the Server and from there you start the Feature Setup. I think you have to install the bits on the Server you want to install the required features.

  • Cannot connect to remote SSRS instance with SSMS

I recent installed a named instance of SSRS 2005 on a remote server. The server has a side by side install of SSRS 2000 and SSRS 2005, with the SSRS 2005 being a named instance. The server also has SSL and MS Sharepoint Portal Server installed.
When I try and connect to the SSRS 2005 instance with my client install of Mangement Studio, I get the error message:
"The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish a trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel. (System.Web.Services)
Additional Information: The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure. (System)."
Obviously, this is a SLL issue, but, not being a security guru, I have no clue on how to fix this. I do know the certificate is valid, not expired and properly working. Both installs of SSRS are set up using the SSL certificate. Also, I am not connecting to SSIS with Management Studio, as I heard there is a bug connecting to both SSRS and SSIS at the same time.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks!!
    Jeff

I know this is an old topic, but I just had a similar issue on SSRS 2008R2 and trying to connect to it with SSMS 2008R2.
The SSRS is using a self-signed certificate. The problem then is how to allow SSMS to accept this untrusted certificate.
I found success with the following steps in the SSMS connection dialogue:
    Server Type: Reporting Services
Server name: the exact server name on the certificate does not appear to be required (e.g., "localhost" is fine for a local connection)
    On the Options>Connection tab, check
    Always Use SSL
    On the Options>Additional Connections Parameters
    tab, enter the following text:
    encrypt=true;trustServerCertificate=true
Click Connect and you should connect without any further certificate trust issues
for that session. Note that these steps must be repeated each time a new connection is made between SSMS and SSRS.

  • How to use an existing remote database instance?

    Hi,
is it possible to use an existing remote database instance for installation of Solution Manager?
Our dba has setup an empty database instance on a hpux oracle cluster for me and I don´t know how to tell the SAPinst during the installation of the distributed system that it should use this existing database.
Or is it mandatory to run the installation on the host where the database should resides and then create a new instance?
Thanks in advance for any hints!
    Christian

We currently don't support DataControls based on the ADF BC technology. We will consider such support if there is a strong interest in that use case.
Independent of the IDE's you use, there are ways to expose services based on ADF BC that can then be consumed by the view layer. A Google search will point you to some of the approaches.

  • Error: Registering remote JRun instance in CF9/Windows Server 2008

    Hello,
We are upgrading our dev/qa/uat environments to a new set of servers (2). CF9.01 with the latest patches is installed fresh on both servers, which are running Server 2008/IIS7. I created jrun instance dev01 and dev02 on each server, respectively. The plan was to let the CISCO load balancer manage the load between the two boxes, and to then share JRun sessions between the boxes so that we could failover anytime during the day if need be. Whenever I try to register a remote instance I get the following error:

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to think about storing sessions in a db but want to have that high availability/flexibility at anytime.

  • Server running remote powershell instance

    Hello,
    I have just installed Exchange 2010 on a W2K8 R2 machine.
It tells me: "specify server running remote powershell instance" , and I don't know which server has that installed.
I am new to Exchange 2010.
I supposed it was the first Exchange I installed (I have installed four servers (lab environment): 2 CAS+HUB + 2 Mailboxes).
I used google and there are a lot of information regardind Remote powershell, but not about this prompt in Exchange 2010 that I can find.
    Thanks in advance!

Ah - you are adding a remote forest to your current forest.  This is also how you link up Office 365.
    BUT
If all you want to do is manage the Exchange install in you test AD then just expand the Exchange server On-premises in the left hand pane.  Does that work for you?
    Cheers,

  • Why will Kerberos enabled SSRS instances will not load in Firefox

We have 10 SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 R2 SP1) instances. 6 are using Kerberos while the others are using NTLM. Firefox will load Report Manager under NTLM, but not with Kerberos. Until last week Firefox would load both, but a recent security update from FF caused the conflict. If I change an instance using Kerberos to NTLM, FF will load Report Manager. Once I revert back, I see either a blank page or an error:
XML Parsing Error: no elemet found
    Location: http://<domain name>/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx
    Line Number 1, Column 1:
This started impacting all users of Firefox last week with our company. We had no issues loading RS under Kerberos before this, and we would like to know how to resolve the conflict. Please advise.

The pictures load OK for me, with twitpic on display, click on the site identity button (for details on what that is see [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Site+Identity+Button]) and then on More Information. This will open up the page info dialog.
First select the Permissions panel, make sure that "Load Images" is set to allow (selecting Use Default should also work)
Next select the Media panel, then click on the first item in the list. Use the down arrow key to scroll through the list. If any item has the option "Block images from (domain name)" selected, de-select the option.
This should hopefully resolve your issue, but also see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Images+or+animations+do+not+show
Some add-ons can also block images, for example if you have AdBlock Plus installed, make sure that you have not accidentally created a filter to block the images.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 Installation with Remote SQL Instance

I am trying to install SCCM 2012 R2 and during the install it asks for your SQL Server Name.  I have a remote SQL Server which I can ping all day but the installation is telling me "The network path was not found".  I turned the firewall
off on the SQL Server and the install proceeded to the next step so that told me it was a firewall issue.
On my SQL Server I opened the following ports but still the install doesn't get through until I completely disable the firewall.
    TCP and UDP 1434
    TCP and UDP 1433
    80
    443
    TCP and UDP 135
    TCP and UDP 2383
    TCP and UDP 2382
    TCP and UDP 4022
I know this is a little excessive but its ports I've seen suggestions for to open but I'm out of ideas.  I even tried suggestions from earlier posts by Jason Sandy's to setspn and I've verified it is correct with setspn -L but still nothing.  Any
suggestions on what ports are needed during install?  As mentioned, firewall off it works great but as soon as firewall is turned on (even with ports open above) I get no where.
Be kind and Mark as Answer if I helped.

Thanks for everyone' reply's.  It is using the default instance (i'm leaving the field blank as it specifies).  I have checked SQL Server Manager and ensured that under TCP/IP and the IP Address's tab that all the IP1, IP2, IP3, IPALL has nothing
(not even a 0) in TCP Dynamic Ports and the TCP port is specified as 1433 for all those.  I even made ODBC connections that "tested successfully" to the remote sql server.  I'm just confused.
I tried netstat and didn't get any viable results but maybe i'm missing a switch.  With firewall on or off during installation it was making established connections to ports  49320, 49321, 49322, 49323, 49254, 49278, 49302, 49220, 49223, 49224,
49259, 49262, 49263, 49295, 49304, 49332, 49154 and so on.  Obviously I don't think these are relevant and just normal chatter between the two servers.  Its on a VM so i snapshotted the SQL and CM box before the install so I'm able to revert back
(or even reload both boxes if necessary).  I'm going to try a few more things but any more suggestions are more than welcome.
Be kind and Mark as Answer if I helped.

  • DW Reporting Server on second SSRS instance - Which Instance Features to install?

I want to install the Reporting Server for the Data Warehouse on an existing SSRS server.

Service Manager or data warehouse databases
In addition to the System Requirements for System Center 2012 R2, the Service Manager or data warehouse databases require:
    SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
The SQL Server and Analysis Services collation settings must be the same for the computers hosting the Service Manager database, data warehouse database, analysis services database, and Reporting Services database.
For Service Manager in System Center 2012 SP1 and System Center 2012 R2 Service Manager:  SQL Server 2012 Analysis Management Objects, which are part of the SQL Server 2012 Feature Pack, are required regardless of the SQL Server version that
    you use
For System Center 2012 only: SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis Management Objects

Probably, you'll have more luck on the JRockit forum, I would guess - or perhaps the WebLogic Server forum :)

  • Multiple Remote Panel Instances

    Hello all,
I am interested in adapting some simulation VIs for a distance learning application. The VIs demonstrate some of the basics of control theory, and I would like the students to be able to access via the web. Playing around with the web builder wizards I managed to get it working. However, the single user control behaviour is not suitable for classroom teaching etc.
This example http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/4041 and relevant templates http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/2440 seems like it might offer a solution. However, seeing as this was written for an older version of labview and my knowledge of html/cgi scripting is essentially zero, I was wondering if anyone had experience with using something this? Or have found a different solution to the multiple instances problem? I think this may not be a trivial amount of work, so I was hoping someone could offer advice as to whether this avenue is worth investigating.
    Thanks very much in advance!
    Regards,
    James

From your description I'm assuming that you have your simulation running in desktop LabVIEW on some machine and your trying to make a web UI that connects to that simulation through a web service. If you want the kind of instancing that remote panels provide you either have to make your web service more complex or you have to move your simulation into Web UI Builder diagrams so the web service is not needed.
Each window that views your web UI will be running an independent copy of your web UI VIs. So if everything is implemented as web UI VIs, then there is no sharing and you can open as many instances as you want. If you can implement the simulation entirely in these VIs, then your problem is solved.
If you need the simulation to run in desktop LabVIEW, then the solution is different. LabVIEW web services do not maintain a connection with their clients, so they don't have any way to recognize a request as being from the same machine as some previous request. If you need that, you will need to add that capability to your web service. You could have a web service call to start a session. That could start a simulation and return some identifier to the web UI. Each time the web UI called another part of the web service, it would provide this identifier so the web service would know which instance of the simulation to operate on. The client could call another web service entry point to stop the simulation, but you won't be able to count on that. The user could navigate away from the UI page or close the browser without the program having a chance to tell the server to stop. To avoid running out of memory, the server would probably need to have some cleanup task to shut down simulations that had not been accessed for some period of time.

  • Can DPM share a remote SQL Instance with other System Centre Products?

Firstly, apologies if this has been answered elsewhere but I can't seem to find a definitive line on it.
I am about to install and start implementing DPM 2012 R2 and have restricted access to SQL instances and the creation of. Can DPM share a SQL instance? Mainly can it share an instance shared with other System Centre products?
Does it really need a dedicated DB engine and Reporting services instance?

    Hi,
No, Each DPM server requires it's own dedicated instance name.  You can have a single remote SQL server, but with seperate instances for each DPM server, or other System Center products.
Make sure that names of your instances does not contains an underscore in the instance name.

    Hope this helps.

  • Start/Stop OPMN for a Remote OAS instance?

    Hi,
I found this documentation online for Starting and Stopping all OPMN Managed Processes for a Remote Oracle Application Server Instance:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/core.1013/b28944/tasks.htm#i1017215
Ex: prompt > opmnctl @instance:oracleas2.foo.com startproc
However, from what I understand, I can't use this command unless the server I'm calling it from has an installation of Oracle Application Server... is this correct?
I was wondering if I could do a stopall/startall of a 10.1.3.1 Oracle Application Server instance from a different/separate Oracle database server?
    Thanks much,
    Nora

    What about:
    ssh oracle@remotehost opmnctl startall
This will only work provided that you have set up your remote environment properly.

  • Cannot Connect to Remote Named Instance of SQL Server

We have 3x instances of SQL Server 2012 installed on a single remote server - there's the default MSSQLSERVER instance, then \INSTANCE01 and \INSTANCE02. I can remotely connect to the default MSSQLSERVER instance through SSMS, but I cannot connect to
either of the additional named instances (\INSTANCE01 or \INSTANCE02).
For example, if I try to connect to "sql.domain.com", I can successfully access the default instance on the remote server. If I try to connect to "sql.domain.com\INSTANCE01", I get an error stating
"A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server".
HOWEVER - if I try to connect to "sql.domain.com\INSTANCE01, 49301" (where 49301 is the TCP Port for the TCP/IP Protocol for this SQL Server instance), I am able to successfully connect.
This leads me to think that there's a communication issue with the SQL Server Browser service running on the remote SQL Server and my workstation.
The following items have been verified:
SQL Server Browser is running on the remote SQL Server
Windows Firewall has been disabled on the SQL Server
TCP Ports 1433, 1434, 1954, and 49301 have been opened up on the remote destination's firewall
UDP Port 1434 has been opened up on the remote destination's firewall
    Thoughts? Did I miss something?

    Hi brgnewman,
Use computername\instancename to connect to the database engine. Please try again. I think the configuration is OK.
Refer to Connecting from Another Computer:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345343.aspx.
    Thanks.

  • Communication between multiple remote flash instances

I am relatively new to Flash development, but need to create a simple application that will essentially function as a remote slideshow broadcast service. One presenter will see the show (full screen) and will be able to proceed to the next slide, all other attendees will only see the show (no control) and will see the next slide when the presenter proceeds. I have a Flash Media Interactive Server which can be utilized. I understand that no one will be able to walk me through actual the development process, but was wondering whether someone could tell me what the best approach would be and where I could find tutorials to get started.
Thanks a lot! Any help is greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: I am particularly confused about what kind of communication method to use. I heard about Socket, SharedObjects, HTTPService, RTMP, RTMFP, etc. could someone advise which would be the best for this situation. I only need to send a very small bit of data.
    Thanks.
