MBAM 2.5 setup

I am trying to implement MBAM 2.5 and am running into some issues.
I would like to host the Compliance and Audit DB on the same box as SCCM2012, VAMT and SQL 2008 R2. Am I right in assuming that I have to host the Recovery DB on a different box running another another copy of SQL 2008 R2 ?
Assuming that I have about 1000 devices, what would the size of the DBs be ?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
From a security perspective you perhaps should use a separate SQL for the MBAM databases, but there is no technical requirement to use separate box for the SQL Server.

  • Javascript Issue in Self-Service Portal of MBAM 2.0

    Dear All,
I have all components of MBAM 2.0 setup in a test environment. Everything seems to work well except the Self Service website. I followed the steps to download the 4 JavaScript files and copied them to appropriate "Scripts" folder. I updated the
path in application settings and restarted the web server. JavaScript is enabled in both of my browsers (Internet Explorer and Firefox). But when I navigate to the self-service website, I get the message "This site requires JavaScript be enabled. How
to enable scripting in your browser".
I followed the steps outlined in : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn145052.aspx
I tried with jQuery-1.7.2.min.js first. Then I tried the updated jQuery-1.10.2.min.js
There are no Javascript errors in the Console. Not sure what to try next and would really appreciate your help. Thanks in advance.

Try enabling java in the settings of your browser. Also what path have you mentioned for the java files in the application settings.

    Hi,
2 - In order to download it on your MVLS portal you must be eligible to the SA with MDOP
1 - the following common port are :
1433 between the webservices and the SQL server
80/443 for the reporting server role
80/443 between the endpoints and the webservices server role

  • [announce] PortalStudio 2.0 with Interaction Management

MONGOOSE TECHNOLOGY ANNOUNCES PORTALSTUDIO 2.0 WITH INTERACTION MANAGEMENT
Vendor-neutral portal platform now includes RealCommunities 2.0
collaboration applications and Interaction Management Web services
Houston, October 22, 2001 - Mongoose Technology, Inc., the company that set
the benchmark for Portal Lifecycle Management and the first company to
deliver a complete J2EET-based portal design, assembly, deployment, and
management solution, today announced Mongoose PortalStudioT 2.0. The
product, which provides an integrated development environment and portal
platform, now includes Mongoose RealCommunitiesT applications and
Interaction Management web services for online collaboration. Using Mongoose
PortalStudio and Mongoose RealCommunities, companies can incorporate
Interaction Management into their portals and Web sites to increase employee
productivity, enhance partner effectiveness, and build customer loyalty.
Delphi Group has defined Interaction Management: "Interaction management
refers to web applications used to cultivate relationships among portal
constituents. These person-to-person web services facilitate group
formation, enhance team collaboration, and empower knowledge exchange
between employees, customers, partners, and suppliers. Interaction
Management helps organizations capture and retain intellectual capital,
reduce employee turnover, increase team productivity, and build customer
    loyalty."
"Interaction Management is a critical component of any portal strategy, and
necessary for effectively nurturing online community and user
relationships," says Nathaniel Palmer, Chief Analyst at Delphi Group. "In
PortalStudio, Mongoose provides the first comprehensive set of web services
for interaction management, within a application framework specifically
designed for deploying and managing portal components."
"We provide enterprise applications to the health care industry and
international retailers" said Brian Fox, Vice President of
MySoftwarePartner. "Our customers must provide timely and accurate
information to consumers and to government agencies. We are using Mongoose
PortalStudio to provide more useful information by aggregating our systems
with other corporate applications in the Enterprise Portal. We are
incorporating RealCommunities collaboration applications to improve customer
support and to reduce the cost of gathering and reporting consumer data. "
    PortalStudio with Interaction Management
RealCommunities collaboration applications are modular WebComponentsT of the
PortalStudio platform that can be embedded into any Web site or portal. They
are supported by RealCommunities Web Services that provide open API's to
gather, store, and act upon person and activity related data.
"Interaction Management is the set of person-to-person web services that
support online relationships and transactions," says Mr. Palmer. The
RealCommunities Web Services are based on the Mongoose 12 Principles of
CollaborationT, and include Identity, Groups, Reputation, Environment and
    Communication.
RealCommunities WebComponents provide structured interactions to support
group goals. These collaboration capabilities can be incorporated into new
or existing portals and Web sites. RealCommunities WebComponents include:
Expertise & Skills Directory - This application facilitates the search
for a person or a group with the expertise, skills, service capability, or
    reputation matching the user's needs.
Engagement & Feedback - After identifying an appropriate individual or
group, the application allows the user to negotiate an agreement for a
consultative or service relationship with the provider and subsequently to
rate the quality and usefulness of the provider's services.
Messages & Chat - These WebComponents provide Message Boards, Chat, and
    Instant Messaging
    Question & Answer - This post-a-question and get-an-answer mechanism
can be a public or private dialog and is used for self-help and support
    applications.
File Sharing & Collaboration - Users can access content from WebDAV
(Web-based distributed authoring and versioning) clients and DAV-enabled
software packages such as Mongoose PortalStudioT, Microsoft® Office XP,
Microsoft® Web Folders, Adobe Acrobat®, and Macromedia Dreamweaver®. Thus a
Word® user can directly open documents that are stored in PortalStudio-based
    portals.
Review & Recommend - This facility enables community members to provide
opinions and ratings, look at what others are saying, and view a composite
score of any participant or document.
Rewards & Incentives - Reward employees, partners, or customers who
participate in desired online activities. The application can be configured
to promote loyalty by providing incentives and rewards for desired
behaviors. The rules are easy to configure and change as business needs
    evolve.
Tests & Polls - This utility enables a service provider or group leader
to ask questions of a population. Rules can be applied to responses to
generate scoring reports or individualized actions, e.g., if pass test, then
update reputation and deliver certification by email.
Companies can enhance their ebusiness effectiveness with Mongoose
RealCommunitiesT Interaction Management applications for increasing
productivity of sales teams, cultivating buyer and partner loyalty,
capturing better market data, and accelerating innovation and time to
    market.
    PortalStudio 2.0 Delivers Fast Results
Mongoose PortalStudio 2.0 is a visual portal assembly environment that
allows users to quickly and easily design portal components, assemble them
into a portal, then validate and deploy their portal solution to, for
example, BEA WebLogic. The simplicity of PortalStudio 2.0's one-click wizard
for configuring and deploying to environments such as BEA WebLogic is
dramatic. Like a "portal compiler," the PortalStudio one-click wizard
eliminates timely editing of complex J2EE and BEA specific configuration
    files.
Other powerful features and capabilities in PortalStudio 2.0 include:
    Instant WebSkinT Personalization
The presentation of information can be customized to the individual or
company standards using Mongoose WebSkins. Users can pick an existing
WebSkin from the PortalStudio library and re-brand their Web application or
apply a custom look-and-feel in seconds. With PortalStudio's
"person-to-system" Web services, XML-based content can be aggregated,
categorized, searched, and cached, served up to various display devices, and
personalized depending on browser, browser version, user, role, locale,
display device, language, and custom rules. Altogether, users can build an
application once, access it from many convenient devices, and be greeted by
    a personal presentation.
    Aggregate Corporate Applications
Corporate applications and databases can be aggregated into the portal with
Mongoose PortalStudio's "system-to-system" Web services for aggregation,
mapping & merging, caching, scheduled queries, and Rules and Alarms.
Mongoose PortalStudio includes WebConnectors for XML, JDBC, JCA, and MS
    Exchange.
    Enhance Existing Applications
Mongoose's "federated" approach means users can use Mongoose's PortalStudio
to create a portal from scratch and deploy it on a J2EE application server
from any of the leading vendors; maintain and enhance existing portal
applications; or embed Mongoose WebComponents into an existing Web
application. WebComponents included with PortalStudio include Table, Tree,
News, Document Sharing, Document Search, Message Boards, Chat, Instant
Messaging, email, and a MiniBrowser with source code.

  • MBAM web site configuration failure

I've set up MBAM 2.5 on my ConfigMgr 2012 server. Its integrated with Configuration Manager and created the two data bases on the same box with Windows Server 2012 R2 and SQL 2012 with reporting services. (I've configured a working OSD windows 7 task
sequence that uses MBAM to encrypt and store the recovery key.)
Now I'm trying to install the two web sites on a second windows 2012 server that is also acting as a deployment point with pxe server.
I can connect to my reporting server with a browser from the local server without being prompted for credentials. The MBAM reports are configured and visible. I'm using the same service account for SCCM reporting services and web service application
pool domain account. I've been working this for several days and am running out of ideas.
Next I'm going to set up a new 2012 test server to act as the MBAM web server only. Maybe that will simplify things and I don't have to worry about breaking my Distribution Point. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

    I finally found the problem.
I had the reporting services url wrong.
http://sccmserver/Reports (this connects successfully but is wrong.)
The wizard would say the path was wrong so I changed it by drilling further into the report server.
    By selecting the Bitlocker folder.
Then the wizard stopped  showing the red error wrong path but it turns out it was still the wrong path.
A bit misleading. I noticed on my SCCM server in the Reporting Services Configuration Manager under Report manager URL,
http://sccmserver/ReportServer  Typed this in and finished the wizard for the first time.  :)

  • Need help removing MBAM 2.5 SCCM integration from SCCM 2012!!

    Hi there,
I upgraded the infrastructure from MBAM 2.0 SP1 to MBAM 2.5. We have three server infrastructure. Everything is working fine except the computers wont show up under MBAM computer collection.
I am trying to remove MBAM 2.5 SCCM integration feature from my SCCM 2012 and reinstall it. When I try to uninstall it, it fails and says " setup failed to update MBAM. Fix the issue and run setup again.
For more information, review the setup log file.
    This is the log file:

  • Issue While Installing MBAM

     Hi All,
Our Organisation has decided to go with MBAM, Here is the back ground of our setup
     1. Windows 2008 R2 Server will be used for Group Policy Mgmt Workstation and Management Web Interface
     2. SQL Server with 3 database, Audit, Recovery and AuditRepor. (Please note that this SQL Server is Sharing other Application database as well)
We have started the installation of MBAM on Windows 2008 R2 Server, we have completed all the pre-requsites, but stuck up while configuring the SRS services, the SRS services are not configured on SQL server.
    So my question
    1. is it possible to skip the SRS step and continue with installation? Once the SQL team configure the SRS on SQL server we will complete the SRS part
    2. Is there any other alertnative to complete the installation.
    Thanks
    AG
    Thanks HA

Yes, you need as a first step to run the MBAM setup on the SQL server in order to create the databases and the reports properly with the good rights on them.

  • MBAM 2.5 with SCCM Integration

    Hi
I've installed MBAM 2.5 and now need to roll back the changes as I didn't specify the -SsrsServer value and this is hosted on a different server. When I try to run Disable-MbamCMIntegration I'm getting the following error
Disable-MbamCMIntegration : Could not find System Center role settings for 'Reporting Services Point' role at site
    'xxx' on server 'Value removed'
    At line:1 char:1
    + Disable-MbamCMIntegration

If I try to install the Web Applications on my MBAM server with SCCM integration it fails with the following
The web application prerequisite check found missing prerequisites
The specified Configuration Manager integration mode does not match the Configuration Manager integration mode currently in use

    Sure
If you edit the following key in the registry on your SCCM server
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MBAM Server\Enabled\CMIntegration to 0 and then restart the server it will allow you to re-add the feature with a different config.

  • MBAM 2.0 fails prereq checks.

I am trying to install MBAM 2 with SCCM integration. I have installed and  created the reports database on my sql rs point. I am trying to install the integration and getting the error cannot connect to reporting services point. I have checked and the
point is accesible and working from within SCCM. I can also view the report url and the
web service url using a browser from the server I am trying to install mbam on. Any ideas? I am using an account with domain admin permission and the install is being run as administrator. The account also has full permissions
with SCCM. I have pasted the log file below.

i have same problem on my lab.
    I have sccm 2012 R2
    sql 2012 sp1
    mbam 2.0 sp1
    ...previously i don't have this problem with sccm 2012 R1 + sql 2008r2 + mbam 2.0 no SP
but after the upgrade to sql 2012sp1 and r2 of sccm
i have desinstalled mbam 2.0 and reinstalled with the mbam 2.0 sp1.
same problem on 2 servers...the local intranet don't change anything to me, error cannot connect to reporting services point
user full right on all database, the user is admin of ssrs, admin of sccm, admin of the server....

  • Error: the 'MBAM Policy' view does not exist.

    MBAM 2.0 SP1 with SCCM 2012 integration:
I am receiving this error when the reports are run from the reporting services point and from inside of the SCCM console. The view that the reports are testing for does exist in the SCCM database. I do not understand why the reports are giving this error.
Each of these MBAM reports have a test for the view V_GS_MABM_POLICY :
        DECLARE @query nvarchar(70)
              SET @query = N'SELECT COUNT(EncodedComputerName0) AS Status FROM V_GS_MBAM_POLICY'
        BEGIN TRY
          EXEC(@query)
        END TRY
        BEGIN CATCH
          SELECT 0 AS Status
        END CATCH
If the Try fails then you receive the above error message in Red Font.
This view - V_GS_MBAM_POLICY does exist so I am not sure why this is occurring. I have completely redone the MBAM setup on the SCCM 2012 server after removing all the MBAM collection and reports, etc. following the instructions from this article -
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2831166 I also removed the classes. I ran the setup again - just the SCCM integration feature and it gives me the same results. Some have suggested that the inventory has
to be collected by the clients first before these reports work and that doesn't appear to be the case. This red font error message is only shown if the view is not reachable. Anyone have any ideas?

I was mistaken, the view is queried for a count and if 0, it displays that error message. So it may be correct that this is normal until the first clients return data that populates the MBAM/Bitlocker tables.

  • Certain MBAM agents not reporting compliance status

I have MBAM setup in a two computer configuration topology both servers running Windows Server 2008 R2.
The problem I have is that certain clients are not reporting back their compliance status to the MBAM servers and when I check the log files for these clients the MBAM Operational logs shows "The MBAM
policies were applied successfully."  This event appears regularly within the 90min windows as expected which is fine.
When I check the MBAM Admin log files had absolutely no new entries since January this year so something is definitely not right. On working clients both the Admin and Operational logs should be updated at least once every 90min that's how it was configured
    in GPO.
All clients are running version 1.0.2 of the MBAM agent on Windows 7 Enterprise SP1. The problem has to be client side because there are machines reporting back regularly with no problem on the same network.

  • MBAM 2.5 SSRS SSL Error

    Greetings,
I am in the process of building MBAM 2.5 and have encountered a critical stopping point when setting up the Reports feature for SSRS.  The following specifics relate to my infrastructure:
    - MBAM 2.5 Standalone on Windows 2012 R2 Standard
    - SQL 2012 SP1 Enterprise (default instance) on a 2 node cluster using Windows 2012 R2 Standard
    - Third party wildcard SSL server certificate installed on both Windows servers
    - SSRS is installed in native mode using the default instance
    - SSRS web service URL is bound to the certificate on port 443 and port 80 is disabled
The issue appears during the installation of the MBAM Reports feature.  I receive confirmation that all prerequisites have been met but after inputting the configuration information on the next screen, the following error appears:
"Unable to connect to the Reporting Services web service.  Error message: The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel."
The event viewer logs 2 event ID 800 errors:

I have verified the certificate using Internet Explorer and visiting the SSRS URI.  Each certificate in the chain comes back as OK so I'm unsure why the error reports "the remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure".
Any guidance on resolving this error would be greatly appreciated so that I can proceed with this project.  Thanks,
    Som

    Hi Mark,
I ended up finding an answer (and should have posted it here).  The steps on
this page were what got the problem resolved.  I'm fuzzy on why the "strong wildcard" (+) character worked with some resources and not others, but changing the ssl binding to the actual fqdn helped for me.
Pay special attention to michael12345's response at the bottom of the page.  Once I did the following
    2. Delete the reservations with:
     netsh http delete urlacl url=https://+:443/ReportServer/
     netsh http delete urlacl url=https://+:443/Reports/
    3. Create new ones with:
netsh http add urlacl url=https://mydomain.com:443/ReportServer user=MYSERVER\MyAccout
netsh http add urlacl url=https://mydomain.com:443/Reports user=MYSERVER\MyAccout
Here is an additional resource regarding the strong wildcard character.
    Good luck!

  • SQL 2012 permissions and MBAM

We are doing a deploy of MBAM 2.5 and as required, we have installed SQL 2012. A part of the setup is setting the required permissions in SQL. I am definitely not a DBA and do not have access to someone who knows it well. Can anyone walk me through setting
the correct permissions from the following http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn645331.aspx ? I am a novice with SQL, but can follow instruction.
    In particular the pieces on:
    Prerequisites for the Recovery Database
    Required SQL Server permissions
    Required permissions:
SQL Server instance login server roles:
    dbcreator
    processadmin
SQL Server Reporting Services instance rights:
    Create Folders
    Publish Reports
Prerequisites for the Compliance and Audit Database
    Required SQL Server permissions
    Required permissions:
SQL Server instance login server roles:
    dbcreator
    processadmin
SQL Server Reporting Services instance rights:
    Create Folders
    Publish Reports
    Prerequisites for the Reports
SSRS instance rights – required for configuring Reports only if you are installing databases on a separate server from the server where Reports are configured.
    Required instance rights:
    Create Folders
    Publish Reports
    Thanks in advance

    Hello,
The permissions to create folders and publish reports are needed only if you have a separate SQL Server for reports (Reporting Services
on a separate server). You don’t have that scenario?
Anyway, in case you have that scenario, the following resources should help:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa337471(v=sql.105).aspx
(Publisher role has permissions to add reports and create folders)
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa337471(v=sql.105).aspx
    Hope this helps.

  • MBAM 2.5 Web Applications installation - "Web service application pool account is not valid"

    Hi,
I've created a Server 2012R2 installation to install MBAM 2.5. When installing the Web Applications I keep getting "The web service application pool account is not valid".
The account I am using is a standard domain account with admin rights on the Server and I've also set the SPN (both netbios and FQDN) and Delegation.
This account is also a member of the group that is defined as RW of the SQL databases (which were setup without any problem and are on a separate  Server 2008R2, SQL 2008R2 installation.
I am also getting an error with the SSRS URL , stating "SQL Server Reporting Services URL that points to the MBAM reports is not valid", despite being able to browse to the http://[FQDN]/ReportServer_MBAM location.
    Thanks.

I got this kind of error when I revert back my virtual machine a lot to my previous checkpoints. I hope this can't be an issue for you.
Make sure the application pool account must have the following login roles on the SQL server and have following rights on the reporting instance:-
    Required SQL Server permissions
The user responsible for installing MBAM database and reporting feature must have the local administrator privileges and the following log in permission:-
SQL Server instance login server roles:
    dbcreator
    processadmin
SQL Server Reporting Services instance rights:
    Create Folder
    Publish Reports
SQL Server Database Engine Services: SQL Server Database Engine Services must be installed and running during MBAM Server installation.
SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS): SSRS must be installed and running during the MBAM Server installation. Configure SSRS in "native" mode and not in "SharePoint" mode.
