MBAM 2.5 / Temp User Exempt

Greetings All,
Quick question, on a test system I am using to test out MBAM, I selected the request exemption option which displayed the contact name and phone number as I had setup in the GPO, and it now shows in the reports as Temp User Exemption.  The question
becomes, how the heck do I clear that, or tell the user (ie my test self) to go pound sand and encrypt their computer?

If i am getting you right, you want the inability of the users to postpone the encryption. If this it is, then there is a group policy in MBAM 2.5 "Encryption
Policy Enforcement Settings". If you set the grace period to "0", it will not prompt the user to start or postpone  the encryption. The encryption will automatically start in the background when TPM is the only protector. If additional
protector for PIN is defined, User will be prompted for a compulsion dialogue box to provide the PIN which user cannot cancel out.

  • How to recover a deleted temp user profile folders?

I have a user that logged in to their machine a probably ignored the fact that it said it was loggin on a temporary profile. This user has been working off some documents and since it was a laptop only closed the lid instead of doing a shutdown...
A few days later, the users was prompted to reboot the computer to apply windows updates... after the reboot... I guess it logged it to the proper profile and now the user couldn't find documents that were created under my documents.
When I started to look at the laptop and looked at previous version of the C drive that was available, I noticed there was a C:\users\TEMP folder that was there before the reboot containing some of the files but I can't find this folder anymore.
By reading around I found that the temp folder is deleted when logging off? Not sure about that  but it sure looks that way.  Is there a way we can recover this temp folder... at least the my documents from it?

  • Terminal Server 2012 Standard Temp user logon

I have a 2012 r2 server with two virtual servers one is a 2012 standard PDC the other is a 2012 Standard terminal server both are non r2 editions. If I created a new or existing user they get logged on with a temp profile. I have already tried all the
googled fix/repair options, this is my last effort. I have tried the whole delete regedit profilelist and temp files. I have added the user to the local admin and domain admin for testing purposes. I have tried the hot fix kb

    Hi Matt,
Does the same issue happen on both virtual machines?
Are there any related error messages in the Event Logs?
If there are any, please post them out so that we can better analyze the issue.

  • Temp user profiles

Hi all: I am now testing Windows 7 which will be rolled out to our branch offices. I have created our needed policies an such based on existing policies from our main office Win7 role out. We are running OES2 SP3 and ZCM 11.2.3a. I have everything setup and all appears to work well EXCEPT the user profile in not being created and instead the user is getting a TEMP profile created on the local machine. Furthermore the profile is not getting stored to the user's home directory upon logoff. I have triple checked all the policies and can't find an error. Anyone have this problem and how did you fix it?
    Thanks, Chris.

There are some known Win8 issues.
Supposedly if a Device is placed in a Domain, it will work.
I suspect some default Domain GPO settings alter something to allow it
to work, but that is just a guess.
You should be able to get it partially working so things like Desktop
Roam, but tiles and quite a few other things will fail unless in a domain.

  • 'temp' user account in Mail? Hacked?

Can anyone explain why I would have a user named 'temp' listed in the Mail:Accounts tab in Server Admin, but why there isn't a user Temp created on the server or displayed in Workgroup Manager?
A little worried that the server has been compromised as I can think why, or how this account got activated.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

In the past, you may have setup a temp account then deleted it.
When you delete a mail account in WGM, it doesn't delete the actual imap account.
Try this tutorial on 'fully' deleting mail accounts.

  • Safari (7.0.1) is non-responsive (spinning pinwheel) upon start up.  It will work in temp user account but not in my main user acct.  I tried reinstall via comman-r prompt on start up but the problem persists.  Any suggestion for reinstall or repair?

Safari is non-responsive after intitial start up.  Before it can load the homepage (google), it will hang and give a perpetual pinwheel until I force quit the program.  Safari works in temporary user account but not in my primary user account.  I have reinstalled osx via the command-r upon start up and the problem still persists.  Any suggestions on how to reinstall or repair safari?

Thanks for thinking about my problem. I've already experimented with creating a new user, a co-administrator. The programs don't crash when that account is running, just as they don't crash when the guest-user's account runs. So it seems that the problem is limited to the default user's account, which is the one that was running when I installed the updates to the OS and the firmware. Another clue is that the programs that crash as soon as they are launched are *probably* the ones that were open at that time in that account. Yet deleting Saved Application States does not keep the programs from crashing when next launched.
So the mystery continues, but these additional facts will help with the diagnosis, I hope.
    Thanks again for your suggestion.

  • User exemption for Bitlocker to Go GPO

    Hi,
We are planning to deploy BitLocker to Go GPOs to govern the use of removable devices. May I have some best opinion to exclude few user accounts from BitLocker encryption(Few approved project users should have USB access without any prompts). Welcome
    to all suggestions..

You may consider the following policy path in group policy:
    Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\BitLocker Drive Encryption\Removable Data Drives
and in Allow users to apply BitLocker protection on removable data drives policy , you could disable it. You may refer to:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee706521

  • 0x803d0013 Error occured sending encryption status (A fault was received from the remote endpoint)

Alright, I am stumped. I have looked at nearly every article on this error here at Technet and other sites:
An error occurred while sending encryption status data.
    Error code:
    0x803d0013
    Details:
A message containing a fault was received from the remote endpoint.
First, I am testing this. I have copied the MDOP ADMX/ADML files directly to the client I am testing this on, and I am applying the policy via the Group Policy Management on the local machine. I am not deploying this via the domain. I wouldn't think that
would make a difference, but please let me know if I am wrong.
    I have performed the following:
    1. (DisableMachineVerification)
    in MBAM registry as
    is in this article  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2612822
    2.  On the MDOP group policy I have enabled:
          I. Client Management
              A. Configure MBAM Services
              B. Configure user exemption policy
         II. Fixed Drive
              A. Fixed data drive encryption settings
              B. Choose how BitLocker-protected fixed drives can be recovered
         III. Operating System Drive
              A. Operating system drive encryption settings
              B. Choose how BitLocker-protected operating system drives can be recovered
         IV. Removable Drive
              A. Control use of BitLocker on removable drives
    3.
On the MBAM Administration Server AD object, enable the “Trust for delegation for any service (Kerberos Only) option”, under the Delegation tab. Also,
the user has been granted delegation privileges for all of the services on the server.
    4. SPN Records have been created for the server
    5. HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\FVE\MDOPBitLockerManagement
    Change the ClientWakeUpFrequency = 1 and StatusReportingFrequency=1
Create a dword value “NoStartupDelay” under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MBAM and set its value to 1.
Also, I did not encrypt my drive with MBAM. It was encrypted before hand. Is there anything I can check or do? The event logs on the MBAM server under MBAM-Web don't show anything under Admin or Operational.
I think my KeyRecoveryServiceEndPoint and StatusReportingServiceEndpoint URLs are correct:
    https://mbam01.domainname.com:443/MBAMRecoveryAndHardwareService/CoreService.svc
    https://mbam01.domainname.com:443/MBAMComplianceStatusService/StatusReportingService.svc
I even think there was a registry key to make the hardware compatible, but I don't remember which key it was, as I uninstalled and reinstalled, and don't remember where I found that on the forums.
    Any suggestions?

If you have made changes to the web.config files to accommodate the SSL settings, you will not be able to browse the URLs with the http protocols. The URLs will then only work with the https protocols.
Could you please confirm the login created for the particular local groups with the following permission:-
For MBAM Compliance Auditing DB Access:-
User Mapping – MBAM Compliance Status
    DB Role Membership – ComplianceWriteRole
    Server Roles – Public
    For MBAM
    Recovery and Hardware DB access:-
User Mapping – MBAM Recovery and Hardware
DB Role Membership – RecoveryandHardwareReadRole, RecoveryandHardwareWriteRole
    Server Roles – Public
Make sure the MBAM Computer account (MBAM Web Server) is a member of these two groups.

  • Users Logged in with Temp Profile on Windows 7

Last year, my company started to experience a strange correlation with the number of Windows 7 computers deployed and the number Help Desk calls regarding Temp Profile Logins. I did open a ticket with Microsoft Support, but had to prematurely put it on hold
    due to other projects.
From my work with Microsoft, we performed ETL logging, documented Handle Output, ran Procmon, and collected MSDT data. While not always successfully documented, Microsoft started to point out the possibility a process in the background was timing out. When
timed out, users became logged in as a TEMP user, thus limiting access to network drives and other domain resources.
The company I work for is part of a larger enterprise and other divisions do not experience this issue. This is solely my companies issue and only came to the forefront after we performed a large migration to Windows 7.
Other forums have provided me and my team with the means of fixing the TEMP profile login, after it occurs. We go into REGEDIT and modify the ProfileList and edit the necessary .BAK key. Either way, this corrects the issue, but does not prevent it from occurring
    again.
I guess my questions is; where can I look to trouble shoot this better? I can't rely on Microsoft analyzing my records and trying to deduce what is occurring. I want to get more information and find a resolution. Thank you all in advance.

No, we do not use roaming profiles in our environment. Local user profiles are used for every computer, regardless of purpose/role in the organization. Good question, though. Thank you.
    Hi,
I would like you to confirm following question with me:
    1. are your computers in a domain?
    2. What do you mean about the local user profile, the personal user? If it's a domain environment, does this issue happen on domain user account?
    3. How did you migrate your user profiles during migrating to Windows 7?
Considering if the local user profile is corrupted, and the regedit fix cannot fix your issue completely.
Please create a new user account on the problematic computer and test for a while to see if the issue still persists.
If not, we may need to repair the corrupted user profiles.
If the issue still persists, considering the system issue.
Please help to collect the logon trace and post back for our research.
    1. Logon as an Administrator of the computer you want to trace (either a local Administrator or Domain Admin account that is a member of the local machine's Administrators group).
    2. Open an elevated command prompt and run this command from WPT Install directory (default path is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Performance Toolkit.
    Install WPT from this link:http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsserver/bb980924.aspx
xperf -on base+latency+dispatcher+NetworkTrace+Registry+FileIO -stackWalk CSwitch+ReadyThread+ThreadCreate+Profile -BufferSize 128 -start UserTrace -on "Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Core+Microsoft-Windows-Wininit+Microsoft-Windows-Folder

    -BufferSize 1024 -MinBuffers 64 -MaxBuffers 128 -MaxFile 1024
Note: This syntax works on Windows Vista (Windows Server 2008) and Windows 7 (Windows Server 2008 R2) computers
    3. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL and then Switch User.
    4. Logon with the user account experiencing the temp user logon to reproduce the issue.
    5. Stop the trace. While logged on with the slow user account, open an elevated CMD prompt and type:
xperf -stop -stop UserTrace -d merged.etl
    6. upload the merged.etl file into Onedrive or similar file sharing service, and post back the shared link here.

  • MBAM 1.0 test-cases

    Hi,
I have deployed MBAM Server+SQL & agent to one of the client machine in testing environment.
I am able to encrypt the laptop & status is now showing as Complaint in Reporting console. Now the main issue is :
1.What will be status of the laptop if i decrypt the drives ?
    2. What if ,I Rejoined a encrypted machine into domain ?
3.What If I ,Renamed a computer which has MBAM drive encryption ?
4.Can i delete the hostname from MBAM Compliance report if the host is not reported for more than X days?
    Also suggest various test scenarios.
    Awaiting for our reply.
    Thanks,
    David.

You need to enable the policy "Configure user exemption policy"
and can define any of the settings for Phone Number, Mailing Address or Website URL. This message user will
get to request for the exemption.
you need to create a MBAM GPO and filter it out to a following security group of which the exempted computer will be
    a member of.
So when you change the compatibility of the machine to compatible, user will be prompted for the encryption. User will
click on the request for the exemption and will get a message to contact the MBAM Administrator by the mean defined in the exemption policy. After the submit of the request MBAM Admin will decide whether to exempt the user from encryption or not.
    Method for the exemption:-
    - Create a domain security group
    - Configure the user exemption policies to exempt user from encryption
    - Set a time limit for the exemption.
    - Filter out the exemption policy to the created domain security group. add the user as a member of this particular security group.

  • Any new user creation gets: unable to log into user account error

Sort of reposting from http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2795507&tstart=0 as that initial question was answered.
Anyway, running an xserve managing all network accounts (only local accounts are a local admin on each system). DNS checks out and all current users can log in fine. However, it seems any new user I create keeps getting this wonderfully ambiguous error. I've tried Guest (but figured it probably interfered with the Guest Account), Student (but thought it might be interfering with a group of the same name), Guest Student, and Temp User.

Just making sure, you have selected the home location, and then actually pressed the "Create home" button? I have missed it few times and then wondered why it is not working. Then check the home folder location that it is actually there and created successfully.
    Yeah, and then hit Save!
