MBP '12 Freezes and Black screens
Hi!
I'm Ores, from Spain. This is my first time writing here, I hope I'm doing it right.
I have a mid '12 Mac Book Pro 13", and since it is my first mac, I don't know if some things are usual.
For example, always that the system restores from deep sleep, after the white screen ends loading, the system freezes for about 30 seconds, even more if I left heavy apps running.
I have a video of my issue:
http://youtu.be/-okgIkITQZU
Is it a hardware failure? I still have apple care for a few months, but I don't want to stay without computer if finally it isn't hardware. I formated the hard drive two months ago, and still with the same issue.
The other issue I am suffering, is sudden black screens that last for 4 or 5 secs and after that the system cames back to normal.
Are these known issues?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks!

MBP goes freeze and rainbow screen.
My mbp goes freeze and rainbow screen. Idk what happened because i don't feel like forcing my laptop. I only use microsoft office for my works and i always shut down my laptop whenever i'm not using it anymore. Some tech guys from apple official resellers told me that the problem is from logicboard/vga card. Is this true? How vga card works? I've used this laptop for 8 months. Thanks any help will be appreciated,
If this is an 8 month old machine, take it in to the Genius Bar and let them fix it. It's under warranty.

MacBookPro 15" (2014) freeze and black screen
Hi,
My MacBookPro 15", which is a 2014 model, freezes completely and need to be shut down by force when using some programs (Silvelight, MATLAB, Parallels, iPhoto and when showing a presentation in Keynote). This starts instantly every time i open the programs.
The Mac will not start in Saft Mode and when starting with cmd+R the screen goes black and it tells me to "press the return button if I like to use english as my language".
Have anyone any suggestions or experienced the same?First of all, you need to get a handle on the tempertures. Get the iStat Pro Dashbord widget here:
http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/status/istatpro.html
It will tell you if things are getting hot. I don't know what the thermal shutdown threshold for the PB17 is but mine (1Ghz; 10.4.11; 1G RAM) never gets over about 150F regardless of what I'm doing.
iStat Pro will also quickly give you numbers of battery status and health.
If iStat says temps are remaining normal, I'd start to question that stick of Crucial RAM. Others have reported that the first stick of PB RAM they got from Crucial would not work and were sent a second that did. Some PowerBook G4s require RAM that supports something called "bus slewing;" I know my 1G machine falls into that group. If only one stick is from Crucial, try running without it to see of the problem repeats.
Back to heat. there are things you can do to remove external influences from the troubleshooting equation:
1) Make sure that the underside of the case is not obstructed. It acts as a heat sink; running the computer on a soft surface like a pillow or blanket, or even using the computer in your lap, defeats this heat-removal feature. Place the computer on a hard flat surface.
2) If any of the little rubber feet are missing, that reduces the airspace around the case bottom. Mine was missing all its feet so I bought a sheet of those sticky-backed replacement bumpers at a hardware store. Three bucks (US) and they are a little higher than the old ones.
3) There is an important exhaust vent incorporated in the display hinge area. Make sure there is at least a couple of inches clearance so the computer has a place to put the heated exhaust air. -
IPhone 5 screen is flickering randomly, the phone freezes and the screen turns black.
I bought an iPhone 5 in New York last December. Now I live in Bogotá, Colombia and I can't find an authorized service center because they said that only if I bought it from a local carrier they attend the warranty.
My iPhone 5 screen is flickering randomly, the phone freezes and the screen turns black… The only way to make it work is to reboot with Home and Lock buttons pressed at the same time. But in the process most of the times it flickers again, and again, and again. I couldn't find a reason to identify what could be causing the issue. Also sometimes when it freezes, some group applications get ungrouped, causing a big mess.
I already tried to restore the phone, remove the SIM, delete all applications with no luck.
Any sugestion? Thanks! Was this phone ever jalbroken?
If restoring as new, without using a backup, didn't help, there is certainly a hardware problem that only replacement can fix. Your warranty is void unless you return to the USA. Short of that, finding a local independent iPhone repair center would be your only option -
I've been experiencing freezes and gray screen at startup problems on the MBP for a while and I'm at a loss as to what to do next.
Here's what I've done so far:
Run memtest, Drive Genius Disk Check for bad sectors and extended Apple Hardware Test - all ok - so I believe the hardware is good.
A clean install of Snow Leopard with the SL upgrade disk. The MBP came with Leopard installed.
Run Disk Warrior several times and replaced directory.
Read and followed the Apple Gray Screen support document and concluded peripherals were not a cause.
Udated drivers including printer (Kodak 5100) Axiom Pro Hypercontrol.
Bought a replacement Western Digital Scorpion Black 500gb drive, ran Disk Check and installed 10.6 from the upgrade disk and ran Software Update. Installed Logic Pro and still had a gray screen when booting from a Firewire connection.
I've read that the gray screen is an indication the computer can't find the OS. As far as the freezes are concerned I'm just stumped. Do I need to do an archive and install from the original Leopard disk and then upgrade with Snow Leopard?

Macbook pro-Freezes with black screen at start up.
Macbook pro-Freezes with black screen at start up. I've tried inserting the Mac OS X install disc to run the hardware test(Restart and hold down D), But it still does nothing. Just the black screen. Now I can't get the disc out. I've tried holding down the track pad key upon start up but that doesn't work neither.
What do I do??? Please help.Remove the battery to find your serial number in the battery bay. Then you can look your MBP up on EveryMac.com:
http://www.everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup/
That will give you all the information on your Mac.
This is assuming that you have the MBP with the removable battery and not the unibody. The unibody has different graphic chips.
Good luck!

your 13-inch Mid 2009 MacBook Pro requires 1066 MHz RAM, but you have 1333 MHz RAM installed. Try replacing the 1333 MHz RAM with 1066 MHz RAM — Macs can be picky about the RAM which they find acceptable. -
Lenovo G560 - Issue with won't boot and black screen after HDD upgrade
Lenovo G560 - Issue with won't boot and black screen after HDD upgrade.
What happen: My laptop was working fine, no blue screen issue, no funny business at all. I bought a new SSD Intel 120 GB and thought it would be a good idea to replace the HDD. I shutdown and disconnected the power adapter, waited a couple of minutes and removed the battery. I opened up the back case and replaced the HDD. And put all the screws back and put the battery back in.
Problem: The very first time I turned the power on, nothing happens besides a black screen. I pressed the dvd drive it works and opens up and closes. I waited for about 30 mins and still has blac screen. When I mean black screen, no bios menu, no logo, just a black screen with the fan sound on.
I have tried these:
1. Unplugged everything - battery, adapter, and pressed the power on button for about 60 seconds, nothing, the laptop turns on with the LED display on for both on and battery LED's. But nothing but black screen, no sound of windows loading just the fan and black screen.
2. I tried putting back my old 2.5" and nothing but black screen.
Thoughts and suggestions?
Solved!

IPad Air with iOS 8.02 freezes and blue screen appears. What should be done ? Why is this happening ?
If nothing else works, you might try this one. It has worked for many others ...
Use iTunes to do a reset to factory default condition. Always be sure to do your backups before fiddling with your iPad. You might do both the iCloud and the iTunes backup, just to be sure!

iPad 2 and iOS 8.0.2 Problems
For all iPad 2 owners, this is an important solution for you! These problems result from long-term use, continuous upgrades, corrupted files and various glitches that happen over this long term use. You just need to get your iPad 2 back to FACTORY FRESH CONDITION to start out clean!
Here's one person's solution which will help a lot of iPad 2 users!
keithfrommariettaOct 12, 2014 3:25 PM Re: IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgrade
Re: IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgradein response to pacoKAS
SOLVED: IOS 8 Issues on iPad 2:
I just returned home from a visit to the Genius Bar. Like you and many others, when I upgraded my iPad 2 to IOS 8, it became practically unusable. It was VERY slow, lagged whenever trying to to do anything. Lots of screen freezes and apps spontaneously crashing. I was convinced that the processor on the iPad 2 just couldn't handle the new IOS and I went in to see about restoring to IOS 7.
Thankfully, I was hooked up with a very sharp guy at the bar. The problem is not with the OS, it is with it being an *upgraded* OS. He used the analogy of when you had an older Windows computer and how over time (and over upgrades), they just tended to get slower and slower because of all of the garbage that was carried forward in the upgrades. At those times (and if you've ever had a Windows computer, you get this), the only thing that would speed it up would be to wipe the machine and do a fresh install of the current OS and then reload your apps, and the viola, everything would be fast again. Well, it turns out that IOS can suffer the same problems.
THE FIX: FIRST, be sure you have a current iCloud backup of your device. Connect your iPad to a computer that has a clean fresh copy of IOS 8 on iTunes (this is best done with a computer other than the one that you sync your device to because you DO NOT want to restore it from a back up just yet). Ideally, if you do this at an Apple store you'll be assured of the right version there and someone to answer any questions you might have along the way. You then hold the power and home button down to hard-reset the device and continue to hold them down until it reboots into recovery mode. You then follow the instructions on the computer to reinstall the OS on the device (which wipes everything from it and then reinstalls a clean copy of it). Once this is done (which only takes about 15 minutes), your device will reboot and ask you to set it up. Answer the questions about language, location, etc. and continue until it asks you to log into your iTunes account. Once you do that, it will ask if you want to either 1) Set it up as a new device, 2) Restore from iCloud, or 3) Restore from iTunes. Choose (2), restore from iCloud. This will ensure that it brings down "clean" copies of all of your apps and preferences rather than the potentially corrupted ones that might reside in your iTunes backup. That's it! It will take a few hours depending on how much data and apps you have, but I am happy to report that my iPad 2 is now running IOS 8 and it's running as fast as it ever did when it was brand new!
To sum it up, this process 1) Wipes your device and the garbage causing your problems, 2) Loads a clean and bug-free version of IOS 8 to your device, and 3) restores your apps and data so that it looks just like it did before the wipe, with the exception that it works now! :-)
Note also that by following this process you don't have to go through the painful and laborious process of reloading all of your apps, data and/or settings. iCloud takes care of all of that for you. -
ipod 4 is displaying blue frozen screen and black screen with apple logo. I try to turn power off but as soon as it goes out it automatically reboots. Plugged it into the usb port on my mac and it doesnt do anything. It doesnt appear in Itunes. Help?
Let the battery fully darain. After charging for an least an hour try a reset and restore. Use Recovery mode if necessary.
If not successful, then time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. -
My iphone 5 died so I plugged it back in to charge and it will not turn on. It will turn to the screen with the apple logo and black screen then turn off again. Any suggestions?
I leave it charging until it gets back to full, usually it turns on after a little bit of time after plugging it in, but all its doing is going to the apple logo screen and going blank again.

Have a problem where I'll occasionally shift my computer (i.e. physically move it, say from the coffee table to my lap on the couch) and it will freeze and the screen will turn into a bunch of horizontal multicolored lines (closer to 100 lines than 5). Usually restarting (by holding the power button to turn it off) works. A few times that has resulted in the three beeps (RAM issue? -- I've since replaced my RAM [it *seemed* to stop it for a while, but maybe not]), but the second time it always works. Attempting to SSH into the computer during this state does not work. Please advise as to what to do/what reports I can run and post. I will take a pic next time it happens.

Blinking light and black screen
My 3rd gen apple tv light was blinking and giving a black screen. I reset it using my laptop nas instructed. It is still doing the same thing. (Light flashing and black screen) Where do i go from here?
May be an issue with it but try holding menu and up key on teh remote TOGETHER for 6 secs in case it's selecting an incorrect video mode - that option will cycle video modes. Check HDMI connection to display is not loose at either end.
