    Hello, Dirk.j.fourie2525.
Thank you for the question.  I have had issues with third party applications myself and I will do my best to help you.  I am attaching an article below that covers most troubleshooting steps for third party applications.
iOS: Troubleshooting applications purchased from the App Store

If you are still experiencing the issue after processing the steps in this article, you may have to contact the developer of the application to report an issue.

  • Why is my MBP Retina 15" continuously crashing and freezing within iPhoto as I flip through my photo albums ?

Why is my MBP Retina 15" continuously crashing and freezing within iPhoto as I flip through my photo albums ?  This has occured all day now, with about 12 reboots and the problem presists.  Problem started while sharing photos with facebook and now occurs while fipping through all photo albums.  Have had additional problems with continuose freezing up and locking up in many other native and non-native applications, freezing all the time.  This reminds me of window based systems !

Disconnect all peripherals from your computer.  Repair permissions and restart your computer.  If this works, one of your peripherals is the culprit. Otherwise, you should post in the iPhoto forum area in case your issue is software related rather than the Macbook Pro.

  • Crashing and Beeping on Startup

    Hi All,
I have been having a mojor issue the past couple of days with my MacBook Pro, continually crashing and then beeping loudly when trying to startup again.
    My spec is:
MacBook Pro (late 2008 Unibody model)
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Mac OS X 10.7.5
I upgraded the memory to 2x 4GB 1067 DDR3 memory about a year and a half ago and everything has been working perfectly until now.
When using any program, the screen will turn grey from the bottom to the top, and a message appears in saying the computers need to be switched off and on again.
When I force it off, and try to turn on again, the screen will be black and will beep loudly 3 times quickly then 3 times slower, until I force it off again.
I need to repeat this several times until it will sucessfully turn on, then the message will appear again after a short time of usage.
I thought it might be a memory issue, so I removed my upgraded memory and put back in the origianl 2x 1gb chips, however the same problem is happening with that.
I visited my nearest genius bar today, but the next available appointment is not available for several days, so any advice would be very appreciated!
    Many Thanks.

  • MBP sleep wake up crash and restart

For quite some time my MacBook Pro has been having a fairly serious waking up issue (my hard drive has now been corrupted and forced me to reinstall mavericks twice because of it), where it will crash and restart if the lid is opened and the computer wakes up after the computer has been to sleep for some time and the battery level is below 60-80% (usually). It rarely (if ever?) has happened if the computer is attached to the mains or if the lid has only been closed for a short while.
Often it will get to the log in screen, freeze and then the computer will simply turn off and reboot, after that the computer will be completely fine until I close the lid and start over again. I'm not sure how much of a software fault it is since it has happened both times I've reinstalled the OS. At the same time I would rather it not end up being a hardware issue as I'm not insured and I've voided the warranty by changing the hard drive to an SSD myself.
So far my guess is that something is wrong with the hard drive (because it was shortly after installing the SSD that this began happening) or there's something wrong with the battery that means it simply can't provide enough power to the system when waking (since this problem only really occurs when waking on battery power and when it's below a certain level), but really these are just ideas. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a software solution for this issue, or whether I should give up hope and just pull out my wallet to get it (hopefully) fixed by Apple?

Changing to the SSD wouldn't void the warranty. Here's something you might want to try. Put the SSD in an external enclosure and see if it runs fine from there. If it does, you probably have a bad SATA cable which is what connects the drive to the motherboard.

  • Mbp 2011 screen freezes and beeps

My 2011 MBP 13.3 will freeze, displaying short bars across the screen in columns, audio beeps three times in intervals.  I must hold the power button down to reboot.

    Some things you can try:
    1. Try a new user account, create one in System Preferences -> Users and Groups, test to see if the issue still persists in this new user account, this will give us a lot of information. (if the problem is the same or it vanishes, let us know)
    2. Make sure all your software is up-to-date, Apple Logo -> Software update.
    3. Unplug all 3rd party devices, just keep in the necessary, Power, Keyboard + Mouse, no ethernet or external hard drives etc.
    4. Reset the PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
    5. Reset the SMC http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    6. Boot to the recovery partition (CMD + R on startup until you see a spinning cog with an apple logo, then let go) -> Choose english as the main language -> Choose Disk Utility -> Select your hard drive from the left pane of Disk Utility (NOT Macintosh HD, the one that will look similar to: 1TB ST3200WAJS) -> Select the 'First Aid' tab -> Bottom right of the window it will say 'S.M.A.R.T Status: ________' ... What does it say after smart status?
    7. While still inside the Recovery Partition, select Macintosh HD -> First Aid (tab) -> Verify Disk -> Repair Disk (unless it says the volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK) -> Verify Disk Permissions -> Repair Disk Permissions (if there are differing permissions on the disk)
Let us know if the issue still persists, but make sure you do all of those steps correctly and post back as much information as possible (PRAM takes two chimes at startup, unplug the power cable for 15 seconds, plug it back in, wait 5 seconds, turn on... make sure you follow all articles)
    Good Luck!

  • Macbook Pro "freezes" on Start up and Beeps - HELP!

I have a brand new Macbook Pro (Christmas 2011), and today it was installing updates. It stated that it needed to restart to complete the updates, so I confirmed it. It shut down fine, but then didn't start up again on it's own. I waited for about an hour before manually starting the computer by pressing the power button. It did the opening chime and then the logo screen came up, but then it started a series of beeps (beep, beep, beep-------beep, beep, beep-------beep, beep, beep, etc.) along with accompying blinking bqattery light (it is fully charged). It froze on the logo screen and continued to beep for a half an hour before I forced it to shut down (control+command+power button). I tried restarting it in safe mode (holding the shift button down during startup), but it only resulted in the computer freezing on the logo screen for about five minutes before shutting itself off (no beeping or light that time, though). I went through my instruction manual as well as online searches to see if maybe I could somehow restore the computer to factory settings and I CAN get it to get into the Disk Utility section (holding down the option button during startup), but I'm absolutely terrified of erasing something I shouldn't, or have it all be for naught.
So, what's my best bet here? Is there a way I can fix this, at home and safely, or should I get my warrantee out and take it back to the store (Best Buy) and let them try to fix it?
    Desperate for help,
    Vanessa

It is better to take the MBP back to the store. They may be able to help you.
    Best.

  • Mac Mini 2013 crashes and beeps 3 times (please read)

Hello I need some help here.
I've had my mac mini for just over a year and it has ran perfect.
Just today I was watching some twitch and it crashed giving me a bunch of lines on my monitor.
I unplugged and then when restarted it would give me 3 beeps and then a 5 second pause.
So I read that it could be a ram issue. I took out my 4 gigs factory ram and swapped it.
Restarted the computer and it worked, but after 5 minutes it would just crash again and again giving the same lines on the monitor.
Now it only beeps and nothing else. Does a Ram issue cause the lines??
Please help, I have all my music files I need to get off and I am worried now....
    Thanks ,

Ok so here is what I figured out. I tried both 2gb sticks of ram in the bottom ram port and it still did the beeping.
Then I took the sticks and only used the top ram port and they worked perfect. So basically I have a bad bottom ram port.
Is there any fix to that? Or am I just supposed to buy 1 4gb or 8GB stick and only use the one port.
    Thanks,

  • So many problems! Crashes and reinstall help?!

Hi everyone! I'm pretty much hopeless in technology so any feedback will be appreciated!
I have a MacBook pro 13' from late 2011. After I updated to Maverick, it started crashing frequently so within a month I updated it to Yosemite thinking it would help. The crashes got worse (like every hour) and when I took it in, they said it was a kernel panic. They deleted the program they thought was the culprit. However the crashes continued. I gave up and decided to wipe the entire drive and start fresh.
But now my original OS X Lion won't install due to an error. It says it cannot be installed at this time and I, being too impatient, did not back up anything into time machine before wiping the drive. Do I have to install Lion again before installing Yosemite?
I'm wondering if I can recover from this Mac OS X Base System on the Disk Utility? I'm so confused...
I'm abroad in South Korea right now and the nearest Apple store is in Japan (which I visited for my kernel panic problem). I think they have an authorized retailer here but not sure of the services they offer for software problems.
Any advice or solutions? Thank you in advance!
    Sincerely,
-A sad graduate student who can't do her homework without Mac
*also my mac does not have a recovery hard drive

When I pull up the About This Mac tab, it has a picture of Snow leopard on a CD....i have a feeling that was my original OS. If I deleted everything, does this mean I must repurchase the software? =(
You need the SYSTEM DVDs that originally came w/the comp.  If you do not have them,
you can get replacement System Install & Restore CD/DVDs from Apple's Customer Support - in the US, (800) 767-2775 - for a nominal S&H fee. You'll need to have the model and/or serial number of your Mac available.
If you're not in the US, you may need to go through the regional Apple Store that serves your location to find the contact number. Here's a list of links to all of those - http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Images/intlstoreroutingpage.html Another resource:  International Support Phone #s.

Hi. I'm not trying to rush things, you may have a different problem, but your issue looks quite familiar to me. I recently had a problem with the discrete graphics card (the Radeon GPU) due to overheating, all because a faulty application of the thermal compound in the factory.
In my case, the problem started slowly and intermittently, a few days after a gaming session (Quake 3) of about three hours (at the moment, I didn't realized that could be linked to the problem).
This issue is being actively discussed in another threads in this forum, but so far there's enough evidence that it's been causing similar problems for 2011 MBPs owners: screen corruption, black/blue screens, and in some cases, a total inability to boot. Some of the threads I'm talking about:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/13150366#13150366
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/21110132#21110132
So far, and since the problem seems to affect only the discrete GPU (that's why you can boot in safe mode) a possible solution is to disable it by removing some extensions which prevent OS X from loading the Radeon drivers. This post describing the process (there are different files involved depending of your GPU version, so make sure you are moving the right ones):
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/22521574#22521574
In the case your discrete GPU survived and is not permanently damaged, I personally had success by changing the thermal compound myself, which completely fixed the problem (at least for now). I've posted about it here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/22630561#22630561
I hope you can find a solution, believe me I know the feeling when you see your expensive machine turning into a brick and it *****.
    Good luck!

  • Photoshop CC Crashes and Opens Help Webpage

All of this started within the last week:
Photoshop opens INCREDIBLY slow every time I open it.
If I minimize Photoshop, or click on another program, window, etc, and then try to return to Photoshop by clicking on it's window or task bar icon, nothing happens and I'm forced to kill Photoshop from my task manager and reopen. This happens sporadically.
Photoshop has up and crashed without warning three times in the last week (I use it almost every day).
Yesterday, it started to doing this LOVELY thing where if Photoshop was selected in any manner (including right-clicking the task bar icon), it would automatically open the community Help website, resulting in dozens of tabs opening in my internet explorer in a matter of seconds. This happened twice yesterday.
    Computer specs:
    Gateway DX4840
Win 7 64 bit (latest updates installed)
    16gigs of Ramm
Photoshop CC is up to date
Virus scans show the PC is clean
I defrag and clean my registry regularly.
I haven't been doing anything fancy in Photoshop when these things occur, no plugins, no fancy scripts, just basic photo-editing, brushes, etc. I haven't made any changes to my computer (software or hardware) that would suggest being a potential culprit, excluding the latest Windows updates, which DID install last week, around the time these issues started. Has anyone else encountered a similiar issue with Photoshop lately, or know if the latest Win 7 update has caused some issues for people?
    Thanks for any help!

Another user had similar problem and solved it by updating video card driver. http://forums.adobe.com/message/5434467

  • Macbook Pro constantly crashing and beeping

Hi all. This is my second attempt at typing this problem out, so I hope it doesn't crash before I'm done.
For the last month my Macbook Pro 15" mid 2010 has been crashing at least 2 times a day. It is not even kernel panics, but good old hard crashes to a black screen. The crash is then followed by 9 beeps: 3 short - 3 long - 3 short.
Not 3 constant beeps which would mean a RAM error, or 3 long - 3 short - 3 long which would be a firmware issue. No, this is litterally a SOS signal, and I have no idea what causes it.
I have upgraded my macbook with more RAM and a 750 Momentus XT drive. My first suspect was the ram because of the beeps, but switching back to the old RAM made no difference. The other suspect was the XT drive which has recieved mixed reviews when used in older macbooks, but switching to a cloned drive has also made no difference.
I have also tried all the old tricks like reinstalling the OS and resetting SMC and PRRAM.
And many of you will probably mention the problem with the NVidea cards in the 2010 Macbooks, but I had mine tested at the apple store my macbook passed the detailed video test, so I hope that is not the problem since I'm way past the extended warranty.
I hope some of you can suggest what to do next.

But what kind of problem are we talking when I have tested two sets of RAM seperatly, ran MEMtest on all of them, and cant find the specific beep sequence on the link you just posted?
I have had the "normal" ram error with 3 repeating beeps on an older mac, and that turned out to be a bad stick. This is not like that.

  • Getting new MBP within a months time and need help !!!!!!

I will be ordering a new MBP and I am having some difficulty deciding weather to get the 15" 2.16 with a 100gig 7200rpm HDD and then manually upgrade to 2gigs of ram or get the 17" 2.16 with the 100gig 7200rpm HDD and do the same with the ram. this laptop will be my first laptop and I will be mostly using it for web browsing, email, and some word processing, MP3's. right now I have 2 desktops I use one a windows based for games and a mac mini for mac based desktop needs, both the mini and my windows run off my 17 inch LCD. so I guess my question is the 17" really what I need or will the 15" be good enough and what about the super drives 15" being 4x and the 17" being 8x is there a big difference in burning time for videos.

Since my techie knowledge is pretty limited, I have a question of the yonah vs merom. I hear that yonah is 32 bit and merom is 64 bit. More seems better but if all I do, on average, is use my future MBP for citrix programs (electronic medical records, specifically), websurfing, occasional picture editing with iphoto (cause I'm too cheap to buy better software that I can't count as a tax deduction), preparing powerpoint presentations, and i guess now making little imovies (and I mean very short clips) since I'll have a dvd burner. Phew! run on sentence....so, would having merom make much difference? And yeah, a macbook would probably serve me well, but I want the 15" screen. I plan on keeping it for 4 years +/- a year depending on how my needs change after residency. I don't do gaming except for weak pogo games every once in a while (cause I need breaks from reading about diseases).
Is it really worth it for me to wait? at first I waited cause I lacked the cash. Now I have my tax refund to help defray the cost. Oh and then I had a immediate need because my powerbook screen started separating due to trauma I inflicted on it when I was having wireless issues. I found a cheap fix so the urgency from the standpoint of need went away.
At this point, I would only wait because I intend on having it for a long time and I want the best I can get. Will having a yonah now make it difficult to get software, use future OSX versions, or otherwise difficult to function? I imagine that at least Leopard will work on the current systems otherwise all the folks complaining of "obsolete" machines after the last mini update would burn apple headquarters to the ground. And it really would make no sense to sell machines that can't use software being made ready for release. I actually decided against even going to tiger on this computer because I figured I'd wait for my new computer.
Why torture myself by waiting if it won't make a lick o difference?

  • 10.4.4 crash and FileVault - Help!

Hi there, really hope someone can help with this, I'm desperate!
My iBook G4 went down, like many, after the 10.4.4 update. I get stuck on the grey apple booting screen. However I discovered i can still FTP in or SSH into a Darwin prompt from my PC over wired ethernet network. I just want to back up my home directory - but all I can see in it through the SSH session is andrewmatthews.sparseimage. Can I open this and save my stuff? (specifically, OS X Mail emails)
    Many many thanks in advance!
    Andy

I've managed to copy this accross to my PC using FTP as a backup. As I can SSH into a Darwin session, I was hoping to be able to mount it from there. I tried using hdiutil but it fails - is the only way to mount sparse images through the Mac OS X GUI - so that it can prompt for a password?
