MBP 13'' Cannot detect battery & battery indicator light won't off

This morning, I found my mbp cannot detect the battery and the green battery indicator lights on the side of the mac won't switch off even if I turn off the computer and disconnect the power supply. Also with the problem that the mac cannot detect the battery, mbp cannot be switch on without power supply. I just got my mbp on Feb 2010 and I really enjoy it. These problems worried me a lot. So I went to apple retail store straight away. The staff has a quick look over the battery information on "About this mac" and updated the newest software, and suggests me to make a booking with Genius Bar. Then I went home. I did some searching on google and read some information about SMC and hardware testing. I did the hardware testing first. With a quick scan the computer provide an error code:
4SNS/1/40000000:TB3T-128.000
And then I did the SMC procedure. This is where I solve the battery and indicator light problem. Now, the mac can detect the battery, the indicator lights return to normal and the battery can be charged. Seems all fine. But do you think I should cancel the booking with Genius Bar since the problem is solved? Or do you suggest to still bring into store and have a check? Thank you.

Reset the SMC (System Management Controller) and advise us if that helped.

  • Battery Charging Indicator Light Is Out

I own a tangerine iBook, OS X 10.4 operating system.
For a year or so charging the battery while the power cord in has been a "fussy" project -- sometimes it wouldn't charge until I moved the "plug-in-to-the-computer" end of the cord out ever so slightly. I bought a new power cord, but that didn't change things.
I don't have internet at hom, so most days I take my laptop and power cord to the public library and use the library's WiFi to look for work. Yesterday I came home, plugged in the power cord, and no battery charging light. I "jiggled" the cord, got out the old power cord and tried that one, then I tried a different electrical outlet. No battery charging indicator light, and the battery is discharging while I use it with the power cord.
I'm assuming this is an electrical problem that I can't fix, but can anyone fix it? When the battery runs out, will the iBook keep running when plugged into an electircal outlet, or is the electricity not getting to where it need to be?
I've had problems with the battery not charging before, and once I was advised to reset something, but I've alway had the indicator light on, so now I don't know if power is getting to my computer.
I went to About This Computer, clicked on Power and saw this:
    AC Charger Information:
      AC Charger (Watts):    0
      Connected:    No
      Charging:    No
which looks like it doesn't think I'm connected to any power source.

Yes, if resetting the PMU doesn't work, it does sound like the DC-in board has failed.
It is not an easy repair (especially for someone who describes herself as "NonTech."

  • Dropped MacBook Pro i5 Mid 2012 Fan tries to spin but cuts out, Battery Charging Indicator light showing but cuts out

    Good evening,
A few weeks ago i dropped my MacBook Pro (i5 Mid 2012) and it failed to turn on, battery had charge in it at the time.
When i press the power button nothing happens. I have also tried resetting the SMC, nothing happens.
Next i plugged in the mag safe charger, before i pressed the power button i saw the charging light come on for a second then cut out.
If i press the power buttong, nothing happens.
I opened the back of the machine and tried the above steps again to see what happened.
    1. When i press the power button nothing happens.
    2. When i plugged in the mag safe charger, before ti pressed the power button i see the fan starts to spin for maybe 2 seconds then stops. I hear the hard drive start to spin but that also stops at the same time, during this the front batter charging indicator light also illuminates, but also cuts out.
Its like when you attach the charger it wants to do something but stops everything after 2 seconds. I left it plugged in for maybe 1 min and its just repeated this action maybe 20 times.
At no stage when i press the power buttong, plugged in or not does it react.
I have taken out the hard drive and plugged into another manchine as an external drive and it works perfectly. Hard drive is no problem! From what i can see all connections are ok, and appear to be plugged in correctly, no burn marks or damage visible.
    Logic board failure from impact?
    Thanks,
    Gary

  • Mute indicator light not switching off

    Hello,
I have a HP Pavilion 15-e078ea Notebook PC and I'm running Windows 8.1.
For the last couple of days my mute indicator light has been on constantly whether the function is on or not. What can I do? I have no idea where to start!

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the Realtek HD Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://h30642.www3.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63001-63500/sp63346.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the Realtek HD Audio device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and start the notebook.
Let Windows fully load, then open your Downloads folder, right click on the Realtek installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again.

  • Battery percentage indicator doesn't turn off

Hello i have an iphone 4s with the latest upgrade (7.1.2) and i discovered that it simply doesn't turn off the battery indicator level, even disabling it at general settings at all.
I have recently received an new iphone from apple care and when i get my hands to it, in "new iphone" mode, it comes disabled by default.
But when i dit the restore backup via itunes this thing doesnt turn off.
    Sorry bad english, im brazilian.
    Thank you

    Hey Rafacandido,
Thanks for the question. Let’s see if we can isolate the issue further. To do so, try restarting/resetting your device:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
If the issue persists after a restart, let's try a reset of your settings as outlined below:
    Reset iPhone settings - iPhone
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/7/#/iph7a2a9399b
Reset iPhone settings. Go to Settings > General > Reset, then choose an option:
Reset All Settings:  All your preferences and settings are reset.
And finally, if the issue persists you can try a back up and restore as new:
iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
After erasing and setting up as a new device, your device is now in a factory configuration. Test to determine if erasing and setting up as a new device resolved the issue. Content on the device may have caused unexpected behavior.
If the issue is still present, you may want to contact Apple Support.
    Thanks,

  • [SOLVED]Cannot detect battery or power supply before a power event

The system cannot detect my battery (or AC adapter) since boot, and before a power event
like the following: (the acpi command provides no output)
    $ acpi
After I do one of the below
    1. plug in AC adapter
    2. remove AC adapter
    3. cover my screen and uncover my screen
    4. drain my battery to low power (probably 15% or 20%)
The system can detect my battery/AC
    like the following:
    $ acpi
    Battery 0: Charging, 61%, 01:18:24 until charged
    $ acpi
    Battery 0: Discharging, 61%, 05:17:15 remaining
Is this a bug or solved issue?
or should I update my bios?
NOTE: This issue does not exist in Windows (8.1), on the same machine
The laptop is Dell Inspiron 14 7437, without touchscreen

    I'm glad I could help!
To complete the answer on whether it's a bug or not, it has to do with your BIOS expecting Windows rather than Linux.  So you need to tell it that Linux is running and without the parameter, the kernel will return false if asked whether Linux is running.  This causes some features to just simply not work.
If adding that parameter makes the screen's backlight to not work, you may want to add "acpi_backlight=vendor" to it also, but it actually caused my computer to not boot and seemed to not make a difference (probably should have mentioned that).

  • My status indicator light is off when my MBP is running.  It just started doing this.

The light is off when the computer is awake and then it does the normal blinking thing when the computer goes to sleep.  This just started recently.  How do I track down what to do to fix this?

I got the same problem? I used MBP 2011 with OSX 10.6.8. I noticed that problem occured after i tried to update itune 10.5.1 two days ago.
But now i m not sure this will be an incorrect behavior cause after searching in this topic ,i found that someone said this is a normal situation. "This status indicator light should be off when the machine is running."
    IS THAT TRUE ???
    So please help us.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Wireless GPS Module LD-3W Indicator Lights

Hi, I've just received a LD-3W GPS module. I've read the user guide and can't find a full description of the indicator lights. Currently the 'Battery charge indicator light' flashes green when the unit is turned on. No other lights show up. Does this mean that it's not picking up GPS signal, nor connecting via bluetooth? If so, what might the problem be? Cheers, Gar.

    Hi
I have a similar problem. Sometimes when I turn on the LD-3W it gets sattelite connection right away, but other times nothing happens, it is very frustrating. I have tries with two different LD-3W GPS receivers and two N73 and a E65. The problem is the same for all combinations, thus Im quite sure that its not due to a faulty device or phone.
Sometimes I can make the GPS device get its sattelite connection by resetting it to factory defaults, but it does not always works.
The phones I have been using the GPS device with are normally also connected (or have been earlier in the day) to a computer. I have read somewhere that there are some problems with sterio bluetooth connections, but even if I start bu turning off both the phone and GPS device, the problem persists.
I would expect that more ppl have experienced this problem, have any1 found a reason / solution??

  • Mbp late 2011 battery indicator light question

The mbp will not boot or turn on.
Without being connected to a power source, none of the battery indicator lights come on when I push the little battery indicator light button.
Once I plug in the power cord and push the little battery indicator light button, the very left battery indicator light flashes on and off green.
    What does this mean?
I have detached the battery and re-attached the battery adapter to no avail. (Using the following instructions: http://www.spathi.net/tech-support/macbook-pro-wont-turn-on-charge-light-blinkin g-orange/)

If you have AppleCare, they will mail you the battery.
If you do not have AppleCare, call Customer Relations 1-800-767-2775. See what they can do for you. CS will determine if your model MBP qualifies for a free battery.
An Apple Store is not the only place to go. There may be an AASP closer. See KB Article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304398 How to find your nearest Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP)
Another thing you can do is to go to System Profiler. Copy/Paste the Power info here. *Do not post any serial numbers.*

My 13.3" macbook pro will not power up.The battery indicator light does not come on.The Mag safe charging light flickers green and red dimly.I had a cell phone connected to the USB port.

This didn't work for me, so I did a bit of searching and TONS of pages later in google, I found an answer. Here are the steps for people who also were in my situation:
    1. Take off bottom case
    2. Unplug battery - blurry image here: http://i.ytimg.com/vi/03cC79r5Dx4/0.jpg
    3. Press and hold power button for 5 seconds
    4. Plug a charger in, and it should start booting up
    5. After shutting down again, reconnect the battery and close the case up
    6. It works! (hopefully, if you guys had the same situation I did)

  • Battery indicator lights show full battery but won't turn on

I have an early 2008 non-unibody MacBook Pro. For about a year now, the status of the battery has been "replace soon." I was still getting a pretty good amount of time off of one charge so I wasn't too worried. This past Saturday morning, I woke up, checked the battery indicator lights on my computer (it had been sleeping since the day before) and it said it had about 60% percent so I opened it. I was on the Internet for about 10 minutes before it shut off without warning. It wouldn't turn back on when I pressed the power button, so I plugged it in and it turned back on. When I checked, the battery status was "replace now." After using it, I turned it back off and left for NYC for the weekend and didn't bring it with me. When I got home last night, I plugged it in and tried turning it on with no luck. The battery indicator light was flashing one light, so I just assumed it would need to charge for a bit before it would turn back on. After about two hours, when I went to bed, it still was flashing just one light. I kept it plugged in over night, and this morning when I checked it, the battery indicator lights showed that it was fully charged, but it still wouldn't turn on. I still kept it plugged in throughout the day just in case, but it still won't turn on even though all the lights are lit. Is the battery just showing me false information, or should I be worried about more than just the battery? Might I have to get a new computer altogether? I bought a replacement battery online so I'll have my answer in a few days, but I was just wondering.

And for what it's worth, I tried reseating the RAM and resetting the SMC, both with no luck. Could it be the logic board? The only reason I think it might not be is because my computer still worked a little bit after it first shut off, it was only after it was off for an extended period of time that it wouldn't turn back on.

Yes, I think most of us do understand what open source software is. It sounds as if you don't. Here's some information:
Open-source software (OSS) is computer software that is available in source code form: the source code and certain other rights normally reserved forcopyright holders are provided under an open-source license that permits users to study, change, improve and at times also to distribute the software.
Open source software is very often developed in a public, collaborative manner. Open-source software is the most prominent example of open-sourcedevelopment and often compared to (technically defined) user-generated content or (legally defined) open content movements.

I install 2 new batteries on 2 different Magic Mice, close the battery compartment securely but the indicator light does not even turn on.

If these are older mice, the battery compartment may be soiled by leakage from the previous batteries.
Remove the new batteries, thoroughly clean the terminal points inside the compartment, wipe over the new batteries, reinsert ... and try again.   Note.   Use only good quality batteries, Eneloop, Energiser, Apple or Duracell.   Other batteries, particularly unbranded ones may be slightly too small in length.
