MBP 13 Late 2011 Battery not reach until 7 hours

I just bought new MBP last week and when I charge it, only stand until 5 hours.. why this happen? is there any tips to make it can be used until 7 hours? my bluetooth's off and brightness is low but still just 5 hours.. i afraid that my MBP's battery is weaker from start.hope you guys can help me. thanks.

i have the same problem with my macbook pro 13" i5 2.4ghz. got it last black friday. earlier today, the battery capacity was at 98% but now, its down to 95%. should i be concerned?
aside from this, the only battery heavy application that i use would have to be online video streaming, with this, my battery could work without power for around 3hrs on very low screen light. huhuh i asked my friends with older MBP models (early 2011/late 2010) and she said, her laptop could go on for 7-8 hours with the same or similar programs but on full screen light.

Your MBP will support a 3T HDD provided it is formatted correctly and has sufficient power.  Most large HDDs require an outboard power source.
When you delete songs from iTunes you will get a message if you want to send it to trash.  If you send it to trash, space will be freed up only when you empty trash.  An individual song does not consume much space so if your HDD is becoming full, more drastic action s should be considered, such as moving an entire file to an external HDD.

  • Windows 8.1 for MBP 13" late 2011 BootCamp

Hi guys i have a MBP 13" late 2011 and I am installing windows 8.1 using bootcamp from an usb. I have reached the Install Windows part on EFI device ( the yellow usb). It is the part when i have to choose partition (1-4). Partition 1 is the Macintosh HD and partition 4 is the bootcamp. When i was about to choose the partition 4 it said that it can't be chosen because of windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space because. Can anyone help me? Thank you very much before.

    Hey Timothyrg,
Long story short, if your computer doesn't meet the requirements, it doesn't meet the requirements. There are some Thunderbolt -> PCI X boxes that can run almost any GPU. However, in OS X, a Thunderbolt Aware driver for the graphics card is necessary for these to work. This is a limitation of the OS, not the hardware.
As to what a GPU is, it stands for "Graphics Processing Unit." This is a chip that's designed to manipulate and alter memory to accelerate the creation of images. The better the GPU, the higher the FPS/details that can be loaded at once.
    tldr;
If your system doesn't meet the requirements due to graphics card limitations, it doesn't meet the requirements. You can't open your MBP up and throw in a new GFx card. If it's RAM limitations, that's fudgeable a little bit. If it's processor (CPU), you're in the same boat as you were with the GFx card.

  • MacBook Pro late 2011 Battery Performance drop dramatically

MacBook Pro late 2011 Battery Performance drop dramatically
9 months 94 cycles and its health is now at 89%

Does the system still run off the battery only? Does it run for a few hours off the battery only? Then No it is not defective and no Apple will do nothing for you and No Applecare does not cover Consumable items which the battery is one of those.
The only time Apple MAY, and that is BIG MAY, replace the battery is within the first year and only if Apple Deems the battery to be defective. Fat chance of that as long as the system runs off the battery for any length of time.

  • Random BSODs disappear when I uninstall BootCamp on MBP 13" late 2011, w7 x64

Hi, I am wondering if there are faulty drivers in the latest version of BootCamp 4.0 (downloaded on 29.05.2012).
I have MBP 13", late 2011 (MBP81.88Z.0047.B27.1201241646, 24/01/2012), and have installed on it Windows7 Ultimate SP1 x64 using BootCamp. Prior to unistalling BootCamp software, MBP was randomly freezing under Windows7 with a clumsy display. It was logging nothing to the dump files. I have run several times driver verifier and all the times recieved c2 BSOD until I unistalled BootCamp!!! (I can post the dump files if needed.) After that, although I have no access to special features of keyboard and trackpad, I have no problems in Windows and MBP runs fine under driver verifier's stress tests.
An interesting observation that I can make is that without BootCamp CPU cooler seems to be noisier.

  • MBP 15 (late 2011) Harddrive 750gb/7200rpm

    Hello,
does anybody know wich brand/model (750gb/7200rpm) of harddrive is used in MBP 15" (late 2011).
Especially, I would be interested if the the 750gb/7200rpm HD is much noisier than the 500gb/5400rpm?
    Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure, but in my early '11 MPB 13" the stock hard drive was made by Hitachi (it is a 320gb 5400 rpm).

My macbook pro 13-inch, Late 2011, is not charging properly. it charges for 4-5 seconds then stop and then continue. It charges normally when turned off. Could anyone care to explain what the problem is?

    Hi OneManArmy_,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  I would try resetting the SMC and seeing if that allows the charge to work when the system is on:

  • Will apple replace the L shape MagSafe Adapter the pins are sticking causing late 2011 macbook not to receive charge.

Will apple replace the L shape MagSafe Adapter? The pins are sticking causing my late 2011 macbook not to receive charge.

Yes, Apple will replace it if you are still under warranty. Otherwise, as in my case, you will have to buy a new one.
I purchased my MacBook Air July of 2011.  Approximately four months later the adapter stopped working. I brought my MacBook and the adapter to the Genius bar. The adapter was replaced because it was under warranty. To make sure the problem was not something I did as I didn’t want to duplicate, I inquired and was told some adapters just have problems.  After two weeks, I noticed the rubber coating to the wire bunched up on the L end that connects to the MacBook Air on the replacement adapter. I returned to the store and was assured that my concern was unwarranted and that since the adapter was working fine I was fine and that if it stopped working I could just return it. On 11/22/12 it was not getting power. I returned to the store. After being asked where I returned the adapter when I originally had the problem (same store) I was informed that the replacement adapter was only covered for three months, to be happy it lasted as long as it did, and I would need to buy a new one for $61. However, the store didn’t have the adapter I needed and could buy the 60W adapter for $79. I was told I could go up, just not down. Before leaving, however, I asked if I was doing something wrong with the adapter and how long the new one was covered for. He inspected the nonworking adapter, pointed at the where the wire connects to the base and said no, usually people have their cords pulled from here but yours looks fine. On the plus side, the rubber coating around the wire of the new adapter appears thicker with no chance of sliding and bunching up. Glad Apple fixed this issue.

  • Can I use RAM from MBP 15 late 2011 to MBP 13 mid 2012

    Hi All,
I presently have an MBP 15 late 2011 (running at 4GB RAM) - which I feel is very slow. Had been reading a lot of discussion threads and most viable solution seems to be to upgrade my RAM - found it in Crucial.com (8gb x 2 kit).
I have another MBP 13 mid 2012 (running at 2GB RAM). I was wondering if I can transfer my 4GB RAM from my MBP 15 to my MBP 13.
Will there be any compatibility issues? Will this work?
    Can anyone advise please?
    Thanks.

  • A1281 is the battery i got for my 15inch MBP. Is the battery life only 2 - 3 hours for a new battery on this device.

A1281 is the battery i got for my 15inch MBP. Is the battery life only 2 - 3 hours for a new battery on this device.
    This is from Apple.
2 to 3 hours seems very low.
what is teh standard or advertised spec for a 15 inch Macbook Pro with this battery.
I would like to know so that i can return it if this is not normal.
Its expensive so comments would be appreciated.

I say it depends on your model? average usage is about 3-4 hours depending on what you use and how you use it. Adobe Flash player eats a lot of battery power so if you are on a web page and has flash player, likely that it's eating up battery because of it's power thirsty.
Also check your systems activity monitor. It could be possible that one of your program/apps did not close right and may be still running. So check for that and end the process if necessary.
If you have a backlight keyboard, in a broad daylight, it's not necessary to have it on.
I also suggest that you use it plugged in most of the time, and it's not going to hurt or damage the battery if you have it plugged in all the time. Only use on battery if you are going to places that has no access to the outlet. If you are at home, then keep it plugged in. Just keep in mind to fully drain the battery until it your MBP turns off on it's own. This is the calibration process so that you have the most accurate battery readings.
The standard for 2011 MBP is 7 hours on battery. Before that model is 10 hours, but i don't believe that previous models will last 10 hours. Last week I calibrated my battery readings from fully charged and it took 9 hours to completely drain out the battery (I have a 2011 model),
If you think it's not normal and that your battery doesn't meet your expectation then set up an appointment with the genius bar and have them test the battery. They will determine whether it is faulty or not.

  • Battery not working for 7 hours

battery not working for 7 hours.. it working only for 3 hours or 4 hours

I'm sorry, got confused. You're not going to get 7 hours on your battery. Apple says "Up to 7 hours". That means they got 7 hours under optimum circumstances and with certain usage. You need to keep your screen brightness as low as you can live with. Minimum music and video. Check some email, a little office type stuff. Forget games. You might get close but you won't get 7 hours.
In the small print of their adds Apple spells out exactly how much of what they did to get 7 hours.

If the MBP operates while the charger is connected, the charger then is not the problem.  The data that you originally posted from System information>Power indicates that the battery is functional (normal).  That then indicates that there is a problem in the charging circuit.
You might open the MBP and disconnect and reconnect the battery.  You have to be careful not to short circuit the battery.
The best option is a trip to the Apple store genius bar.  This appears to be a hardware issue.

  • MBP Late 2011 - MiniDisplayport Not Working

I have a MBP Late 2011.  I connect my MBP to an external monitor using a Mini Displayport to HDMI converter.  Everything was working fine till this morning.  I uplugged the converter and hours later when I plugged it back into my MBP, my MBP doesn't detect the monitor anymore.  The screen on my MBP flashes blue but it goes back to whatever it was before.
I am sure the HDMI cable is okay because I tried it out on my PS3, so it's possible that the converter is the problem, but since the screen flashed blue, doesn't mean the converter is also okay?  Is there a way to check if my MiniDisplayport Port is working properly?  This is the only computer in the house that has a MiniDisplay Port.  Anybody have suggestions as to how to fix this?
    Thanks

At whatever percentage the battery is in now be it 34% or 99% it doesnt charge properly. It just cuts after awhile or if i open like more than 2 programmes. Tried changing charger from 60W to 85W. it is just not charging properly.

  • New 60w power adaptor won't work on MBP 13 late 2011?

I recently bought a new 60w power adaptor from the Apple Store to charge my late 2011 MBP 13. It seems to allow the MBP to run but won't charge the battery, LED light doesn't come on at all. If I plug the new charger into my 2010 Macbook it does charge and LED works as normal. If I then plug it back into the MBP the orange light will stay on for about 30 seconds then turn off, no green at the start as usual. Apple Support says I've bought the correct charger, is it a dud? What's going on?

Correct, it is not MagSafe 2. I used the new charger this morning to charge an older Mac, then plugged it in again to my MBP and it worked normally. I charged the computer fully and unplugged it. After an hour of use I plugged it in again and got nothing from the new charger as before. The computer does respond to an older MagSafe charger, still L shaped and 60w and the new charger does work normally with two older MacBooks. Should I have bought a MagSafe2? Info is posted below. Thanks, Bill
