[MBP 13" mid-2012] How to daisy chain monitors?

I Have 1 Dell Ultrasharp U24H14 connected to my MBP with a miniDP to DP port cable (using the thunderbolt port on my MB)
I only have 1 thunderbolt port on my MB.
I'd like to have another Dell Ultrasharp U24H14 connected. Can I do this through daisy chain? So connect the second Dell Ultrasharp U24H14 with and DP cable to the other Dell Ultrasharp U24H14 monitor. One of the monitors go to my macbook using an DP to miniDP cable.
Is that setup going to work?
The monitors do support daisy chain. Does my macbook?
If not, what should be the other possibilty to connect it? USB to HDMI or so?

Wow, let's see. What won't get replaced? The screen? The drives? The fan? Some auxilliary cards, like the BT interface? A few screws?
And then, lets hope those bits & pieces that were recycled really didn't get wet and don't fail down the line.
Make sure you get some form of written proof that the thing will still have some form of warranty afterwards. AppleCare may be advisable if you don't have it already. Else cut your losses, sell it off for parts and get a new and unsullied one.

Hello Sirs, I'm having a hard time connecting my MBP 13" (mid-2012) to my projector using my mini-display-VGA out adapter. But when I switch to Windows 7 (via bootcamp), it can easily be connected... Please help me with this problem. Thanks

Try connecting the Minidvi to the VGA and connect it all together, first try turning ing on the MBP, then connecting dvi to the the projector. Make sure your projector input is set for VGA. If noo joy invert the affored mentioned proceedure. You should see your image if not, try going to system preferences>displays, click display.   Try readjusting the resolutions in display. reboot monitor.

  • Can I use RAM from MBP 15 late 2011 to MBP 13 mid 2012

    Hi All,
I presently have an MBP 15 late 2011 (running at 4GB RAM) - which I feel is very slow. Had been reading a lot of discussion threads and most viable solution seems to be to upgrade my RAM - found it in Crucial.com (8gb x 2 kit).
I have another MBP 13 mid 2012 (running at 2GB RAM). I was wondering if I can transfer my 4GB RAM from my MBP 15 to my MBP 13.
Will there be any compatibility issues? Will this work?
    Can anyone advise please?
    Thanks.

  • MBP 13" Mid-2012 (Non-Retina) - Display Washed Out

Just received my new MBP 13” Mid-2012 (Non-Retina). Comparing this to the 1280x800 display on my 2010 White MacBook, it looks washed out at full brightness, the colours are not deep and rich as they was on my old MacBook. Has anyone else experienced this? My next step is to use the calibration tool built into OS X to see if that helps.

If I were you, I would take the machine into your local Apple Store and compare it with similar models on display. My late 2011 15" has a bright, vibrant screen and so should your new 13".
If you see that your display is simply not up to par, exchange your computer for another - you have 14 days from date of purchase to exchange or return for a full refund.
    Good luck,

  • MBP 13" Mid-2012 stuck on apple logo after installing Maverick

I own a MBP 13" Mid-2012 with Mountain Lion installed on it. When I upgrade to Maverick via Apple Store/Internet Recovery/USB it gets stuck on Apple Logo with a grey spinning wheel below. I tried disk repair with disk utility, and resetting PRAM but still nothing happens. When I reinstall Mountain Lion it works again. And no, unfortunately I don't have a back up. What to do? Please don't tell me to bring it to an Apple Store because all they have to say is that my logic board needs to be replaced which I couldn't afford. Help!

Sooner or later, your logic board is going to fail completely. You need to start a backup, preferably more than one

  • Bluetooth issues on MBP 15 Mid 2012 with SSD OCZ Vertex 4

    Hello,
I work on MBP 15 Mid 2012 with SSD OCZ Vertex 4 and I have problem with my bluetooth (mouse sometimes is very slow, laggy, the same problem with keyboard, keys are working with a delay) Unfortunately  it happens only with SSD drive and when I have plugged oryginally, apple’s drive everythink it’s ok. Software, firmware are the latest, I tried each reseting (PRAM etc...) and nothing helped. Do you have any ideas?

Same combination and same issue.  I see a thread about this here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/21659917#21659917
My guess is that the SSD is causing interference with the bluetooth somehow.

  • Need HELP, what is going on with my MBP 13' Mid 2012.. Please..

    My MBP 13" mid 2012 running on OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 (14B25)
    Processor = 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory = 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics = Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB
It can't turn on. But Magsafe has no problem, battery looks fine too,
It only turned on if i haven't use it over a few days or a week... after that, i try to turn it off or just get it on sleep mode then it won't turn on again over few days/week..
Does anyone had a same problem or solution for this problem?

    Hi rizal.umaternate,
I would start with resetting the SMC to see if it will start to power on again. If not then you will probably need to contact Apple for further support. Take a look at the article below to start you on troubleshooting your issue.

  • My MBP 13" Mid 2012 wont start up anymore after Yosemite update

My MBP 13" Mid 2012 wont start up anymore after updating to Yosemite. I tried various fixes but i think this escalated to an HDD problem. Startup disk wont show up both in DiskUtility and re-install OSx via Internet Recovery. Though I kind of doubt that an update can actually harm your HDD or RAM, is it even possible that Yosemite Effed up my unit? Should apple be responsible for the fix?
    Thanks!

  • Apple Hardware Test freeze on MBP 15 mid 2012

I changed the ram on my new mbp 15 mid 2012 from 4gb to 16gb. Now AHT  freeze on Testing Memory with both type of ram, why? It's not my first time when I change ram, I'm on my 4th MBP. Any ideas? tks

    Hi,
there is a known problem (I know it for sure from a friend that works at a apple service) with non retina mid 2012 macbook pros not responding in AHT test, most likely your RAM is fine. Just do MemTest and see if anything's wrong with it.
    FYI
Reported this problem in bug reporter some time ago, the answer:
Engineering has determined that there are no plans to address this issue.
Clearley they know about it and don't want to solve it, to bad.

  • After Effect CS6 GPU alert MBP 9,2 mid 2012, How to Fix After Effect CS6 GPU manager Alert in MBP 9,2 mid 2012

         Hi,
First of all, let me thank everybody who takes the time helping me with this issue.
My name is José. I work on a 13" MacBook Pro (MBP 9,2 mid 2012) with Mac OS X 10.9.5 (13F34). It has a 2,5GHz Intel core i5 Processor. 4GB of RAM Memory, and an Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB.
I've installed the Adobe CS6 and I'm having trouble with After Effects. It just won't open. Every time I try to run the app it crashes and the "GPU manager" alert pops up. I had installed and ran Photoshop and Illustrator successfully but After Effects crashes every time. I've even downloaded and installed all the updates from the Adobe support and still got the alert message. I installed 11.0.1, 11.0.2, 11.0.3 and 11.0.4 updates but non of them seems to fix the problem.
Please, hope someone could help me.
       Thanks!!
    Hola,

Hello again. I ended up installing AE CC to fix my problem. although that was not what I was looking for but at the end all that matter is to enjoy the software. The only unsolving issue is that I won't be able to enjoy the option of working graphics in GPU mode due to my graphic card. It needs CUDA and intel doesn't support it. I'll keep on looking for answers to my trouble with AE CS6 in the web.

  • Mac Mini 2012 (new) - displayport daisy chaining.

Does anybody know whether the TB controller on the 2012 (new) Mac Mini supports DisplayPort v1.2 daisy chaining? I am aware of the limitations of the current Apple TB display, but am wondering if a workaround would be to use display v1.2 panels. My guess is that the TB controller used in the TB display was not compatible with multiple display handling (e.g., Eagle Ridge), but was hoping that the controller used on the macbook/mac mini/imac logic boards does (e.g., Light Ridge). HDMI is too limiting, so I was hoping to daisy chain 2-3 displayport v1.2 displays off of the single TB out from the new mac mini.

thanks the replies. OWC sold me the kit, cable etc based on the Macmini's specs. I talked with support and the drive I installed should work with no issues.
They did have me reset the PRAM which did. They also told me I might need to install Yosemite 'several times before is sticks' - whatever that means. lol.
Anyway I zapped the PRAM. So far no mysterious restarts with the drive being unrecognized.
One thing I didn't mention though...
MacMini is in a backyard home office (about a 100 feet away with buried CAT6 cable connecting it to the network). I was using Screen Share from my MBP reinstall all my work software. Every crash occurred while using screenshare. I never had any crashes when I was actually sitting at the computer.
I don't know if that has anything to do with it - but I haven't used ScreenShare for any length of time to control the Mac mini since the pram zap. Figured I'll use the computer for a week or so and see how stable it is and then try using screenshare again and see if the behavior repeats itself.
Meanwhile I'll keep my fingers crossed.
I'm just suspect that it was a PRAM issue. But I'm a layman.

  • How to daisy chain thunderbolt devices with only one port

I am using a macbook pro with one thunderbolt port. Quite a few thunderbolt devices have only a single thunderbolt port (don't support daisy chaining).
Does anyone know of a thuderbolt hub that adds additional thunderbolt ports?
If such a product does not yet exist, is it at least technically possible?
    Thanks!

    (1) Thunderbolt does support daisy chaining up to 6 devices to the MBP's port (with some limitations). See

    <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunderbolt_(interface)>
    (2) Note that daisy chain and hub are not the same. However, my understanding is that, in principle, a Thunderbolt hub is feasible. I'm not aware if such a device is already on the market. I guess that whether or not Thunderbolt hubs will be eventually available depends on the demand.

  • Daisy chain monitor from cinema display MacBook Air 5,2

I know the Mid-2012 MacBook Air is capable of 2 external displays as described here.
The monitor works when plugged directly into the MBA, but not when daisy chained from the back of the cinema display.
It's a dell monitor, and I'm using an Apple Thunderbolt-VGA adaptor.
Is there something I'm missing? Thanks!

As far as my question itself -- why does this happen? Has anybody had this issue on Lion and had it resolved on Mountain Lion?

  • Black Screen (~10sec) on login/logoff on daisy chained monitors

    Hey guys
In my setup, I have 2 daisy chained Dell U2414H monitors on the DisplayPort output of my nVidia GTX 760 . They work mostly fine, but I'm getting a roughly 10 seconds delay (black screen) at login and logout. This seems to be an issue with the Intel iGPU, as described on the wiki here. However, the strange thing is, that the black screen only occurs when using both monitors in the daisy chain config (regardless of DP1.2 setting on second monitor). Using one monitor on either HDMI or DisplayPort and even using both, one on HDMI and one on DP, works perfectly fine.
Any ideas? I might just end up buying an HDMI cable and be done with it, but I'd like to have as few cables going to my monitors as possible
    Thanks!

    Mike
The computer itself is really old so I have an onboard intel graphics chipset, I also read on the forum about a person who had problems with nvidia but when he installed the nvidia package everything was solved.
I don't think there is something like this for intel?
EDIT: Ow nice! I installed the package: xf86-video-intel    2.10.0-1 for X.org Intel i810/i830/i915/945G/G965+ video drivers and everything works like a charm, so it was a driver problem after all, never expected it.
