MBP 13 to two monitors

Hi guys, is it possible to connect one MBP 13" to two external displays simultaneously? I don't mean mirrored either, I mean for the desktop to be split over the two external monitors.
Thanks

Yeah I know I can extend from the MBP screen but would prefer to split it over my two 24" monitors.
I found this http://www.villagetronic.com/vibook/
Anyone used them?

  • Attaching two monitors to an Early 2011 MBP

    Hey everyone!
I have an early-2011 Macbook Pro and I want to attach two external monitors to it. I currently use the minidisplay/thunderbolt port with a TB to VGA converter, but I wanted to know if there's such a thing as a TB to 2 VGA/DVI or a way to connect two monitors without eating a USB port while doing so. The only solution I can think of is purchasing something like this: http://www.belkin.com/us/p/P-F4U055/ but I'm trying to avoid paying that much money.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate them!,

  • How to Interface 15" MBP to Two External Monitors?

My company is switching to MacBook Pro systems; I do a large amount of text editing - my current set up (an HP/Windows machine) contains two monitors - one of which I have rotated lengthwise so as to permit easier editing of a technical document.
I was told that the MBPro does not support Dual Monitors; I would like to confirm that
    Thanks for your assistance

  • How to connect two monitors using macbook pro?

    Hi,
I have a Macbook Pro through which I want to extend the displays to two individual monitors.
The two monitors should show two different windows which is opened through my macbook.
I have observed that macbook has only one mini display port through which I connect to HDMI or to DVI ports in monitor.
So how do I connect another monitor source to my macbook, which ports can help in this situation?
The monitors I have which can supports HDMI,DVI,VGA and DP ports.
Could anyone help me on this issue.
    Thanks.

You can use a USB 2.0/3.0 to HDMI/DVI interface.  You might also consder Thundebolt to HDMI/DVI.
The MBP 13" will support three screens (two external) and the MBP 15" will support four screen (three external).

  • Can i connect two monitors to my mac book pro with HDMI?

can i connect two monitors to my mac book pro with HDMI?

I retract my previous "No." If you can live with limited performance (slow refresh/choppy action video/no gaming) on the second external monitor, you could use a USB video adapter and a DVI-HDMI adapter to connect it to a USB port on your computer.

Just a note about the system information that appears below your post: iOS 4.3.3 does not run on Macs, only on iPods, iPads and iPhones. When you're posting about your MBP, it would be more useful to those responding to know which version of Mac OS X you're running. Doesn't matter for purposes of this post, but something to remember for future posts.

  • Hook two monitors to MacBook Pro

I'm new to this posting questions so please bare with me if you have seen my post before.
I've have posted this question twice but can't find either post to see if someone has responded.
    I recently bought a MBP with 1 Firewire800 port; 1 Thunderbolt port; 2 USB3 ports.
I want to hook two monitors to the MBP and I have been looking at the Belkin hub that has 1Firewire800 port; 2 Thunderbolt ports; 3 USB3 ports.
I want to know of I can connect my MBP via the Firewire800 port to the Belkin hub Firewire800 port? That would leave  on the Belkin hub 2 Thunderbolt ports to hook up the two external monitors.
I also have a printer; scanner; DYMO label maker; 2 External Hard drives; keyboard - so I will need the USB3 ports.

This is the Specs for the screens I have..I am kinda a noob so I am not really sure if they would support it..

  • Run two monitors from my 15-inch MacBook Pro (Non-retina, mid 2012)?

I'm looking to run two monitors from my 15-inch MacBook Pro (Non-retina, mid 2012). I don't want to use the actual laptop screen in this setup, I just want to use the two external monitors.
My 15-inch MacBook Pro (Non-retina, mid 2012) has the following ports on the side:
FireWire 800 port (up to 800 Mbps)
Two USB 3 ports (up to 5 Gbps)
Thunderbolt port (up to 10 Gbps)
I currently use the Thunderbolt port to one external monitor.
My question is: Is it better to run the second monitor via USB 3, or FireWire (if that's even possible)? What would you recommend?

    See -> http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/dh2go/digital_me/.
Good and simple way to get two monitors from one Thunderbolt port.

  • Mavericks started crashing on MBP 15 two days ago

Hi! I have a problem with my MacBookPro. It is from around july 2007 and already had its motherboard swapped for the black screen problem a couple of years ago, but it worked fine until this week. Two days ago it started freezing after a couple of minutes every time I login, something between 2 and 12 minutes, more or less. Needless to say that it is completely useless this way. Recovery mode works, I could verify/Repair the Mac partition, but not much else. I also got a Windows 7 Home installed on the machine, and that one works without problems, so I guess it must have been some bug introduced with one or other software actualization lately. I can't really do anything with the machine on OS X anymore, recently it froze two times while I tried to reset the password for my time capsule so I could access the time machine backup from the recovery mode. It also froze while installing the latest security update from safe mode today. 'Froze' means mouse is dead, keyboard is dead, progress bar stops, no reaction apart from forced power down.
Now, as I am writing this from this same machine under Windows, I wonder what is the best way to get OS X up and running again. Is there a way to download an installation image of the OS for, say, Version 10.9.4 with Windows, burn it to disc and restart from there? I don't really see any download option there. Also - would it be worth trying Yosemite instead of a slightly older Mavericks version?

    Hi!
Here is the report. I have had two more crashes while operating firefox and Preview with Intego software stopped. This last times the machine did not restart, but just kept displaying the frozen display, even when closing the lid, with no reaction from the mouse or the keyboard apart from forced power down working - with nothing in the log files with a timestamp matching or nearing the clock display.

I have a MBPro mid 2013 with 1 Thunderbolt port. Just bought a Mac monitor and want to daisy chain a PC monitor to it. Use a Mini DVI to VGA adapter from MBP to PC monitor. How do I daisy chain the 2 monitors?

    Hall Palm Desert,
if your Mac monitor has Thunderbolt ports, and the PC monitor is on the end of the daisy chain, then you might be able to do it by connecting your PC monitor’s VGA cable to a Mini DisplayPort-to-VGA adapter (e.g. Apple, NewerTech), connecting that cable’s Mini DisplayPort end to one of the Mac monitor’s Thunderbolt ports, and then connecting a Thunderbolt cable between the other port on the Mac monitor and your MacBook Pro.

  • MBP and 24" monitor

    Hi,
I am getting a 15" MBP and a 24" glossy monitor. When I connect the MBP to the monitor what happens? Where do I type and what do I use as a mouse? Does the $999 monitor come with a mouse and keyboard or are those extra? Do I just plug the MBP into the monitor close the MBP and put it off to the side, then attach a keyboard and mouse to the monitor,or does the MBP need to remain open and if so isn't it going to be distracting? Also would I need to use the MBP as a mouse and keyboard?
    Sorry for the stupid question...
    Thanks

Where do I type and what do I use as a mouse?
The keyboard and trackpad on the computer, or one connected to any USB port. The display needs to be connected to the computer through USB to use any of the display's USB ports.
    are those extra?
    Yes.
Do I just plug the MBP into the monitor close the MBP and put it off to the side, then attach a keyboard and mouse to the monitor
Yes. See the note about USB above.

  • Best Way to Hook-up Two Monitors - an LCD and CRT.

I have two monitors, a Samsung SyncMaster 940BX LCD with DVI and VGA ports, the other a Viewsonic CRT with VGA port that I use as a palette monitor.
Which is the best (most reliable) port on the Mac Mini to use for a VGA monitor, the Mini-DVI Port or the Mini DisplayPort? I have a Mini-DVI Port to VGA adapter from my PowerBook that I can use if needed, and will order whatever Mini DisplayPort adapter that I may need. Thanks.

I would think that starting from DVI would be the better choice for running a VGA display. I say this because analog VGA output is part of the DVI standard, so it is accounted for, should be mature technology and should work.
DisplayPort, on the other hand, does not account for any VGA output. It is a strictly digital standard. Apple has created an adapter that has active electronics inside that uses digital signals for input and does a digital to VGA translation within the confines of the adapter. Strange but true.
From reading these forums over the years, one thing I have learned is there is no such thing as a sure thing. Some people report better results from the DVI port when running VGA and others say they could only get their VGA display to work from DisplayPort. So it seems it can depend on the display, too. In that case, you are probably stuck using trial and error to see what will work best for your setup because it's unlikely anyone else is going to have exactly the same two monitors you do.

  • HT5019 How do I get extended display mode on two monitors off a MB?

I've tried to find answers on other threads but no luck. Is it possible to connect two monitors to a 2008 unibody MB (mavericks) to use extended display? I've never had a problem with using one monitor (mini dvi to vga) as an extended display and now I'd like to add a second monitor via a vga splitter. I thought upgrading to mavericks would solve this but no luck. It's only letting me mirror displays. The "arrangement" option in display prefs not available.  Any help would be greatly appreciated. I never for one second thought this would be so complicated.

Exactly what Bob Levine said. Can confirm, running a two monitor display here.

  • I cant get two monitors to work on one pc.

Does anyone know why i cant get two monitors working on one pc?
I have a HP P6 2000 UKM computer, running windows 7 and it has a DVI D socket as well as the standard VGA (which i am using for my primary monitor)  I have got the right DVI  to VGA adaptor and have followed various instructions to set up duel disply but every tutorial i have seen says use the multiple display option,  but the option dropdown box is not there!
Iv'e tried two different monitors but he same problem. If my graphics card does not suport 2 monitors then why is there a DVI D socket?
Have never had this problem in the past!
    Please help.
    Nobby

    Hi,
Please post the exact HP product number for your PC.
VGA is analog and DVI-D is digital.  If you have two monitors then one of them needs to support a digital video signal if you want to use two monitors

  • How can i use two monitors in my application?

    Hello,
    Background
I have a dual monitor card and two monitors which I want to use in my LabView application. The application gathers data from a complex sensor and calculates a number of results which need to be displayed graphically, this happens every 10 seconds or so. There is an awful lot of graphs which may be needed to be seen at some time but not routinely. The idea is that one monitor will display all the standard routinely displayed things and will not have any user input whilst the second monitor will display a tab control which has all the other graphs pickable.
    Question
What I want to know is how I can programmatically tell labVIEW to put one vi up in one monitor and another vi in the other. I would then have them both maximised (which I know how to do). I would rather have the monitors set up as individual and that way I could keep the windows control bar on one monitor only. Thus one monitor would be a true user interface and the other simply a display.
Basically how do I tell LabVIEW to use one monitor for a specific vi and not the other.
The card I have is a matrox p650. Any comments would be appreciated.
    Regards
    Kevin

    Hallo,
with new version of LV its more easy, but it also hasn't any troubles with LabVIEW 6.x or 7.x.
Especially with Matrox P650 you will get no any problems (we using
exactly this card together with G550 and our application supported
three monitors at the same time.).
I recommend to you following sequence:
    - After installing driver turn on option for supporting different
resoluton on different monitors. As result you will get two absolutely
    separate monitors.
    - In Windows define which one is primary and which one is secondary.
(On primary monitor located taskbar and all messages dialog boxes will
    appear.).
    - Arrange secondary monitor in display properties - where he located (left from primary, or right)
    - In your VI (which must appear on second monitor) use
FrontPanel.PanelBounds Property Node for positioning. You must set four
values for two corners. Easiest way to found right values is following:
read this property node in while loop and put indicator on front panel.
Then run VI, drag front panel onto second monitor and resize if
necessary, and then you will see right values for PanelBounds. You can
write this property node programmatically in run-time too.
    hope it help,
    good luck.

  • How to run two programs with one PC and two monitors

I have a requirement to run a parallel loop and update the progress in two monitors with one computer.
For ex: its a two test stage, the process and progress of the 1st stage needs to displayed in monitor1 and similarly for 2nd stage to monitor 2 with program running with one computer.Would it be possible to do that.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Parker,
yes, it's possible. You also have properties to set windows to specific monitors...

  • Can I connect two monitors to a Mac Mini?

Can I connect two Monitors to a mac mini

Yes, but how depends on what model of Mini and what kind of monitors.  Early models only had one monitor port.  Later models had a Mini-DVI port and a Mini-Displayport.  Current models have a Mini-Displayport and a HDMI port.  The Mini-DVI and Mini-Displayport can attach VGA or DVI monitors, whereas the HDMI port can't use VGA monitors.
Beyond that, you can get Matrox's DualHead2Go or a USB->VGA or USB->DVI adapter.  The Matrox product is a bit expensive and the USB adapters are a bit to slow for games and such.  So, again, the answer is "yes", but with limitations
