MBP 2011 running crashing; com.apple.launchd[1] (org.samba.nmbd): Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds repeats in Console.
Hello,
When i bought my MBP in Mid-2011 I found my Mac to be a little unstable but because I was new to MacOS I thought that perhaps it was just me. I have carried on now for over a year, two machine formats plus an upgrade to Lion (from Snow leopard) and I'm still having problems.
I keep seeing;
Jul 5 11:03:12 tixylix com.apple.launchd[1] (org.samba.nmbd[1426]): posix_spawn("/opt/local/sbin/nmbd", ...): No such file or directory
Jul 5 11:03:12 tixylix com.apple.launchd[1] (org.samba.nmbd[1426]): Exited with code: 1
Jul 5 11:03:12 tixylix com.apple.launchd[1] (org.samba.nmbd): Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
Scrolling in my Console logs, could this be something to do with the cause of my problems?
Should I take it to my local Apple store and let them have a look?
Many thanks in advance.
James

I keep getting error 586 in the console along with the following:
3/18/12 7:55:19 PM com.apple.launchd[1] (org.samba.smbd) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds 3/18/12 7:55:29 PM com.apple.launchd[1] (org.samba.smbd[1246]) Exited with exit code:
The console shows thousands of these error messages and it's messed up many functions of my MacBook.
I have VMFusion on my Mac because for work I need to use Windows. Last night I tried installing Windows 7 but could not complete installation. I got a message saying "can not locate driver". Then I started getting the Error 586.
Today I unistalled VMFusion hoping that would resolve the Error 586. No such luck.
Can anyone help me get rid of this constant error, plesase?I believe this has something to do with Mail. Are these frequently occurring errors? If so and you quit Mail do the errors cease?
Google searching for "org.postfix.master" reveals quite a number of links that you might check for more information. -
So, i was looking around in my Console.app after three system crashes (which is another question i have, my 2010 MBP keeps completely locking up whenever i go to wish my uncle a happy birthday on Facebook[Safari 5.1.2])
And i notice this entry coming up every 10 seconds:
18/12/2011 19:38:28 com.apple.launchd.peruser.502[155] (com.zeobit.MacKeeper.Helper) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
I had MacKeeper installed a long time ago, in my naive months when i first got my MBP, and i saw how bad it was. I deleted the app using AppZapper, trashed all the .com and .plist files etc. etc., but this entry is (and maybe has been for a long time) still coming up.
Can anyone shed some light?
It says PID was 162 at one point, looked in activity monitor for process PID 162, as you guessed, nothing.
What do, internet? That's the trouble with these uninstall apps, they generally cannot be guaranteed to uninsall everything a app can create.
Look in these following places for anything that might be related to mackeeper:
your login items
~/Library/LaunchAgents
/Library/LaunchAgents
/Library/LaunchDaemons
/Library/StartupItems
If you find obvious mackeeper items toss in the trash and reboot. If you are not sure post the items here.
I'm guessing there's a com.zeobit.MacKeeper.Helper in the LaunchAgents or LaunchDaemons. -
Having a Kernal process running. Computer seems to run OK but fan which almost never runs is on continuously for the past 3 days.

Just keeps going over and over.
Have different accounts but only seems to be occurring on one (primary) account.
I have rebooted multiple time, reset pram, disk utility permissions, quit a multitude of processes, even ran antivirus program.
Any suggestions??
Happy 4th, TIA

I am running OS X Mavericks 10.9.5 on MacBook Pro Late 2013 with Retina display.
I had installed then removed an application KUsrTSK.app (Kaseya). I noticed this week in Console following process repeatedly running:
com.apple.launchd: (com.kaseya.AgentMon) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
I have tried to look for this command in /Library/LaunchAgents and did not find it.
Someone suggested to run following command in Terminal:
launchd remove com.kaseya.AgentMon
but no such process was found.
At a suggestion I have downloaded and run EtreCheck.app and have put the detailed results below hoping that it would be helpful for someone to suggest a course of action.

When Server is running, the computer on which Server runs has problems accessing a shared drive connected to that computer. This problem started when Server started logging messages like the following.

The problem goes away when Server is not running and disk sharing is handled by Mac OSX 10,9.1 client.
What can one do to correct this issue with Server?I forgot to write down my computer specs:

Hi, I hope someone can help me!!
This message is coming up everyday all day in the console and no matter what I do I can't stop it, I installed Tvmobili about 8 months ago and deleted it soon after. I have been wondering why my CPU is constantly active so looked in the console and found this:

I've done everything I know, I've searched for it in Finder nothing has come back, I've reinstalled the application and deleted everything again but it still performs this every 10 seconds!
Any advice is appreciated.

I have managed to resolve the error, hopefully this will help somebody.
The solution: Generating a new uidnumber (in this case 5920 to something else) Thankfully this uidnumber was only specific to this system and does not represent the entities user id number within the organization.
However a record of the old user id remains on the system (corrupted profile) -
Com.apple.launchd DumpPanic - System hangs for 5 mins on boot
We've been having a problem with one of our Mac Pro's for a while now.
It hangs for about 5 mins on boot - slowly gets past grey screen and hangs on blue screen.
The Mac is a 2.66 Quad-Core Intel.
The problems began a while back, when running photoshop - the scratch disk filled the hard disk entirely on a really large document and the whole system died. On reboot the system started to hang in the boot process and has done ever since.
The system also appears to be sluggish and doesn't respond as well as an identical machine next to it.
I checked the boot log and noticed a few issues, some of which i've now fixed - ie a faulty USB device causing some problems.
This is what i've got now:
28/04/2011 12:41:53 com.apple.launchctl.System[2] launchctl: Please convert the following to launchd: /etc/mach_init.d/dashboardadvisoryd.plist
28/04/2011 12:41:53 com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.usbmuxd) Unknown key for boolean: EnableTransactions

28/04/2011 12:41:53 com.apple.launchd[1] (org.x.privileged_startx) Unknown key for boolean: EnableTransactions
28/04/2011 12:41:58 com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.DumpPanic[29]) Exited with exit code: 1

28/04/2011 12:47:12 com.apple.launchd[81] ([email protected][85]) Exited with exit code: 1
What i've tried:
Repair Disk Permissions - using disk utility and disk warrior.
Cleaned cache and settings using Maintenance and Onyx.
Turned off automatic time/date setting from server.
I then backed up and reinstalled the OS.
The OS is now on a separate 160GB SATA drive, with the previous 500GB SATA system drive as data storage.
I have installed back to 10.5.8 and still get this problem.
It seems to me that there is a delay of about 5 minutes after this line:
com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.DumpPanic[29]) Exited with exit code: 1
However after LOTS of googling and scouring forums i can't seem to find a definitive answer as to why this problem exists.
Can anyone help me?
My next step is to book an appointment with a Genius, but thought i'd ask on here first.
Another strange conundrum is that if i try to upgrade to Snow Leopard, i insert the disc - open up the installer - click restart and the system restarts, but nothing gets installed.
Thanks in advance for any support you can provide.
Cheers,
RobI took this machine into the Genius bar yesterday and they managed to fix it after about 45 minutes of tinkering.
The error i've detailed above is a kernel error, caused by something not loading properly as the system boots.
First of all it took ages to boot to the installed Leopard, so they tried booting to an external drive with a clean install, but that was no quicker.
They ran hardware analysis and everything seemed fine.
The fix was to clone snow leopard across from a pre-installed clean version on an external drive, onto the internal HDD and that did the trick - its back up and running and is quick as ever before.
Thanks Genii -
Coreservicesd crash (com.apple.LaunchServices) screws up most running apps
I've been seeing crashes in the coreservicesd process that screw up most running apps and force me to restart the entire machine. When this happens, the Dock disappears and then reappears showing no running apps. The menu bar also gets stuck on a single app, even when I try to switch to another window with the mouse. The symptoms are very similar to those described at http://discussions.apple.com/thread/3289125, but I am on a MacBook Air running Lion 10.7.1.
Here's what gets logged to the system console:

I have a MacBook that had Mcafee on it and went to great lengths to get it off. Unfortunately after running all the remove scripts and support from mcafee, in my console it still shows com.apple.launchd{1} with message (com.mcafee.virusscan.VshieldEPointInterface[7881]) Exeted with exit code:1 Then the next line says will start in 10 seconds and it repeats endlessly.
Hi there,
You're running an old version of Safari. Before troubleshooting, try updating it to the latest version: 6.0. You can do this by clicking the Apple logo in the top left, then clicking Software update.
You can also update to the latest version of OS X, 10.8 Mountain Lion, from the Mac App Store for $19.99, which will automatically install Safari 6 as well, but this isn't essential, only reccomended.
Thanks, let me know if the update helps,
Nathan -

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test. -
My MBP doesn't have com.apple.PhotoBooth.plist
My Photobooth is acting up. It's a bit blurry looking. If I open iChat and look ath the webcam from there, it looks great.
sherrrrilyn wrote: ... My MBP doesn't have com.apple.PhotoBooth.plist
If there is no PhotoBooth.plist currently in your User / Library / Preferences folder, quit Photo Booth (if it is open) and re-launch it. A new PhotoBooth.plist will be created automatically by the Photo Booth app unless your software is damaged or has been modified somehow.
If you do not already know, the Library Folder is hidden OS X Lion. Use the <option> Key and the Finder > Go menu command to access the hidden folder as instructed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4567

(1) Be sure you are testing Photo Booth in bright light. Using brighter light for iChat
might make its pictures look better than Photo Booth.
(2) If more light does not help, be sure you haven't applied a Photo Booth effect
that is causing the blur.
Launch Photo Booth, click the "Effects" button, and then click the center ("Normal") choice before you take a new test picture.
(3) If your Photo Booth test picture is still blurry, you may need to
repair your Photo Booth app.
Use your Mac's Disk Utility to repair permissions and then download and apply the latest Lion Combo Update: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1524
Repair permissions again immediately following the system restart that completes the Combo update.
Properly applying the Combo version of updates can sometimes correct software problems.
(4) If properly applying the latest available Combo Update doesn't fix Photo Booth,
reinstall OS X.
Reinstalling Lion will reinstall all its component apps, including Photo Booth. If you need help reinstalling, see this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3878

Please Help! I have been getting quick pop ups on my desktop screen and when I open Consol, here's what it says: 9/11/14 5:59:09.499 PM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501: (com.akamai.single-user-client[7490]) Bug: launchd_core_logic.c:4745 (26200):13
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click: Remove All Website Data
Then delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that didn't help, troubleshoot Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall. -
Routine crashing - com.apple.iokit
I've been having all kinds of problems, but thought I'd resolved them -- except, it appears this one.
I leave my iMac on overnight. In the mornings I'm frequently greeted by a computer that won't wake from sleep and a hard drive that's spinning hard, audibly. The log is below -- if anyone can give me some insight, I'd appreciate it!

BSD process name corresponding to current thread: kernel_taskOkay, I'd been running fine for a few days -- to the point that I was feeling confident enough to start reinstalling stuff -- and then last night I got the black screen and the fan on high all over again. Hard restart resulted in the computer shutting itself down upon reaching the grey apple screen.
Booted in target mode and used diskwarrior to repair it. Here's the log, below.
If anyone can give me some insight as to why this keeps happening, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!
Jon
DiskWarrior has successfully built a new optimized directory for the disk named "iPuppethead." The new directory is
ready to replace the original directory.
Notes:
The original directory is damaged and it was necessary to scavenge the directory to find file and folder data.
Some files that had been lost or thrown away may have been recovered.
Comparison of the original and replacement directories indicates that there will be changes to the number, the
contents and/or the attributes of the files and folders. It is recommended that you preview the replacement
directory and examine the items listed below. All files and folders were compared and a total of 14,480,521
comparison tests were performed.
• All errors in the directory structure such as tree depth, header node, map nodes, node size, node counts, node
links, indexes and more have been repaired.

Explanations:
Accessible: These are items that had an entry in an inaccessible portion of the original directory. They are accessible
in the replacement directory.
Custom Icon Flag: Every folder has a flag that indicates whether or not it has a custom icon. Repairs ensure that the
icons of these folders will be properly displayed.
Duplicate Name: Every item within a given folder must have a unique name. Repairs ensure that these items can be
used.
Fewer Items: These folders have fewer items in the replacement directory than they had in the original directory. This
is usually the result of items being moved to the "Damaged Items" folder.
Item Count: Every folder keeps a record of the number of items that it contains. Repairs ensure that all items are
present when viewing the contents of these folders.
Name: This is text that is part of the directory information for each disk, file and folder and uniquely identifies a file
or folder within its enclosing folder.
Overlapping Contents: Overlapping files are files that occupy portions of the disk already occupied by another file.
These files will be relocated after replacing the directory. You must inspect these files to determine which of them
had been overwritten and damaged. Be aware that opening damaged files can cause the computer to crash.
Text Encoding: File and folder names are stored in Unicode characters. The text encoding value indicates the method
used to convert the file name to Unicode. Repairs prevent the name from being displayed incorrectly.
Volume Information: Every disk has information that describes its contents. Repairs prevent problems such as wasted
disk space and applications not functioning properly.
