MBP cannot find WiFi ???

Hi when I boot my MBP it finds and connects to my WiFi. If I disactivate Airport and reactivate it, or if the MBP wakes up from standby there is no connection till I reboot MBP. This issue started with the update to Mac OS X 10.6.5 (10H574). Before it worked perfectly for 1.5 year.

Please try the following:
1. Delete Preferred Network(s)
o System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Advanced > AirPort tab
o Under "Preferred Networks," delete the network(s) you regularly use from the list.
2. Delete AirPort Keychain Entries
o Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.
o Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
o Restart, or log out then back in.
3. Add Preferred Network(s)
o System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Advanced > AirPort tab
o Add the preferred network(s) using the "+" button.
o Restart or log out then back in.

  • Cannot find wifi connection anymore

I purchased my iphone this past March and everything has been working fine until now. Last Thursday I was on wifi downloading an app that was about 12MB. After making the purchase, I was disconnected from wifi and could not proceed with the download.
I continually tried connecting, but could not find the network. It is now Monday and after resetting the network settings, trying the airplane mode trick, updating to the latest version, and restoring I still cannot find the network. I've tried on multiple networks too and still no luck. I tried phoning Tech Support but they said I'd have to pay for phone support. Any suggestions? hardware problem? Have no idea who to send it to if needing replacement. No Apple store near by either.

So I have two iphones (3G and 3GS) in the family, an ipod touch (1st gen), an IMAC, AppleTV, MAC Book and a MAC Book Pro. An new dual band Apple Airport Extreme and dual Apple Airport Extreme.
The computers & Apple TV connect just find to my network (security is WPA/WPA Personal). The iphones and ipod touch cannot connect worth a hoot. My neighbor has a Belkin network (no security) and both phones and touch connect just fine. I am totally flummoxed. I have tried resetting the network settings on the iphones but to no avail. The only time the devices connect is when the phone or touch is literally within a foot of the base station.
    any suggestions?

  • Playbook cannot find WIFI networks

Hi, I have a new Playbook 16gb wifi and the wifi isn't working. Essentially what happened was after I completed the initial setup it prompted me to install an OS update after which the WIFI stopped working. I cannot connect to any network no matter the type a/b/g/n, the frequency, the channel or the mode. I have tried on two Netgear routers, 1 DLink and 1 iPhone (used as a hot spot). I have tried PBS using the actual button and the PIN but neither works. It just cannot find any networks.
I tried resetting to factory defaults but that has made the situation worse because I am now stuck at the setup screen with no networks to complete setup. I can't connect to the desktop software either because the installation hasn't completed.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
    David

    Hello
Were you able to fix the wifi issue ?
I have successfully reloaded QNX OS on the Playbook using Desktop manager.
    Version 1.0.7.2942 was loaded.
I still have the same problem, it is impossible to connect to the wifi network.
I have tried wpa2, wpa and wep , nothing works. I have tried at over 10 different routers.  I tried with routers where other playbook wifi works well, but this one playbook won't connect, I always get the same error while trying to pair to the network, it doesn't event get to the acquiring IP address phase.
    Thanks

  • Suddenly I cannot find wifi on iphone 4s

I have an iPhone 4s with iOS 8.1.2.
I find myself abroad for a month. I have been using my iPhone normally for three weeks without any trouble. Suddenly yesterday, after having worked with it for several hours, it cannot find anymore the wifi of the place in which I am staying, even if all other people can still use it.
I already tried to disable the location setting and also to reset the original settings. None of these have produced any results. Can you help me?

    Hi ff/medic,
To browse your music by playlist, look at the bottom of the screen in the Music app, you should see a Playlists button to click. If not, select the More… button.

  • Cannot Find WiFi router

Just moved into new flat & though my Ipod touch can see the flat's wifi & connect, my Ibook running 10.4.11 cannot though it can see all my neighbours. Is there anything I can try. I have searched for the network name with the WEP passcode but it can still not find it. Any help would be much appreciated.

I just had this type of problem with my Linksys router. I pressed the reset button on the router and it erased my set up info (bad move). I contacted Linkys support chat and learned that I had to run through the online set-up procedure again. Now my iBook sees the router.
I don't want to send you on a wild goose chase but maybe all you need to do is set up your connection again.

  • 10.5.8 MBP cannot find or reliably connect to AirPort Express on channel 13

    Problems with channel id 13:
    ============================
I believe this is another (NEW!) issue unrelated to the already described WLAN-battery-performance-drop-down. Furthermore the following may not only apply to 10.5.8 but to 10.5.7, too:
Since there are many (~20) WLAN networks in my neighborhood, I decided to switch to channel 13 (in the AirPort Utility for my Airport Express b/g) in order to minimize interference. This used to work fine.
But since 10.5.8 my intel MacBookPro 15" (Early 2006) does not find my WLAN anymore. It is not listed in the available WLAN-list. When switching Airport off on my MBP and on again, it sometimes finds my WLAN but the connection drops within a minute and I am completely disconnected - too short to get AirPort Utility to connect the Airport Express station (but it can find the Airport Express station for a second or so).
However, the iPhone3G and the ubuntu-linux still work great with the very same WLAN.
I tried another WLAN-router (d-link) and this plays well with my 10.5.8 MacBookPro.
Interestingly, when I tell the d-link WLAN to use channel 13, my Mac shows the same symptoms as with my AirPort Express b/g on channel 13.
I have not tested with which other channels this occurs.
The "hack" to restore the 10.5.7 IO80211Family.kext did not work. I reinstalled the 10.5.8 combo-update, but that does not help, either.
Note1: In Germany, WIFI channels 1 to 13 are allowed. Maybe, in the USA this is different and Apple did not tested the 10.5.8 Airport with the channels possibly not available in the states?
Note2: My MacBookPro is too old to apply the 10.5.8 Airport-slow-on-battery thingy patch, posted here in the forums.
Note3: Since 10.5.7 (or maybe a version below?) OS X (after sleeping or restarting) tells me that my preferred network has not been found. Then I disable and enable the airport and select my network once it appears. In the first place I thought this was due to the huge amount of WLANs... but now I am not sure any longer...
Perhaps others have observed a similar behavior?
Note4: I will post my specs (version of MBP and airport) later, since I am at work right now.
Note5: I will try to reset my Airport station to factory defaults and choose another channel.

    HI Samuel,

    Airport Troubleshooting Guide
    Carolyn
Hey Carolyn thank's for your reply!
The Airport Troubleshooting Guide is great. Unfortunately did not help in my case.
(I tried a lot of other things, too. Installing the combo update 10.5.8, resetting PRAM, deleting keychain entries, removing Aiport adapter in the list of network adaptors, removing known networks and so one. Nothing did a change!)
What did help indeed was to plug in the Mac by ethernet cable and configure the Airport Express base station to a different channel. Then it works like charm (again), as you suggested, too.
I tested with another (d-link) wlan (b/g) station and confirmed my first suspicion that it has something to do with the channel and not with the base station or some configuration.
Both, channel 12 and 13 are NOT working, but all others do fine!
This is a bug (introduced in 10.5.8 or maybe 10.5.7, I am not sure?). I repeat, this is a bug and unrelated to the wifi battery issues described by others. I guess I will file a feedback report.
As a work-around, switch to another channel. I am not sure what happens to people who have channel left to "automatic" and the base station changes to 12 or 13 by itself. (Is this technically possible?) I think they will get problems. Definetely.
    For completeness, my specs:
    Model Name: MacBook Pro 15"
    Model Identifier: MacBookPro1,1

  • Windows 7 cannot find wifi

I have recently partitioned my harddrive with boot camp and put Windows 7 on it.  I also downloaded the drivers off of the OS X Snow Leopard Install disc (but not easily, I had to work around it after getting "boot camp x64 is unsupported on this computer model" message several times).  However, I still have not been able to find any wifi (even though I know there are about 10 signals in my immediate area), so I have to connect via ethernet.  Does it have something to do with my network adapters?  Here are the ones listed under my device manager:
Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network) and (RFCOMM Protocol TDI)
    Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet
It is very important I am able to connect to wifi!  Please help!

Thanks for taking the time to explain Holly; it helps a lot :)
I've found that sound under boot camp is precarious at best. Many like you (and me at one time) thought that they had Windows installed correctly on their Macs (it still sounds awe-inspiring, even today) only to turn up the volume and....nothing. It seems to be the ever-present problem of Microsoft "wisely" picking its own drivers, even though you have just installed better ones! Video and audio drivers are usually the two nasty areas where people in-the-know (haha) go straight to the hardware manufacturer's website to download and install the most-current drivers available.
For your audio drivers, you need to find out the *real* manufacturers of the audio hardware to find out which drivers to install. My MBP and iMac both use Realtek drivers, who luckily keep them frequently updated. If you can't find out the make of your audio hardware, I'd just download and install the current Win7x64 drivers from http://realtek.com and try them out. If Windows shows them not-compatible with your hardware, it won't use them and you'll be back to square one.
Now, the wifi drivers are more tricky, since they should've been correctly installed. For them, I would go into Device Manager, find the wifi device, and click uninstall. Then reboot. Windows should install the correct drivers (if it has them or can find them). If not, we can use your OS X disk and point Windows specifically to it for the wifi hardware. But hopefully Windows will rectify everything and you'll be good to go.
    Good luck.

  • Cannot find Wifi driver in use

Hi! I am creating a wifi-hotspot using Create_ap script https://github.com/oblique/create_ap. Strangely I cannot get it working. I use broadcom-wl from the AUR https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/broadcom-wl/ and I am passing --driver args with 'wl'. Please help!
    Thanks!

Gusar wrote:Drivers are generally part of two categories: nl80211, wext. That's what you use with the --driver switch of create_ap. broadcom-wl is a wext driver. However, it does *not* support AP mode. Not even brcmsmac does. Of the broadcom drivers, only b43 does. So unless your specific chipset is supported by b43, you're out of luck. You'll have to use ad-hoc mode.
Oh, Good answer!  I'll remember that one.

  • Cannot find wifi

My brother and I got new Ipod touches for christmas - and they cannot detect the wifi in the house, despite the fact that all the laptops are running fine on it.
They have picked up the prescence of other networks, and resetting the wireless connections/ manually entering the information in 'other' hasn't worked.
We're using a Belkin N F5D8636uk-4 V1 router, on tesco broadband, set to broadcast ssid. I've tried about everything I can think of including updating firmware (there was no update avaliable) and restarting the router, switching off security, changing all the settings, nothing has helped and this is driving me to distraction - such a shiny new toy, and I can't use half the applications. ^^;;; Please, please help!

Okay - the problem now appears to have been resolved. After setting up the network to use my brother's laptop (vista) as the router, turning it off made the wifi return to being broadcast by the router - but with the settings he had set on his computer, with the new ssid and password, and now we can both pick it up.
    ...this may be the first instance of vista managing to fix a problem? XD;;;
Still, having gone through the settings, I have NO IDEA what has changed to make this possible! Everything looks the same - it's still set to b&g*n (There is no option for just a b&g network, btw. g only, n only, or all three. Changing between them earlier made no difference.).
The only difference apart from a new name and key seems to be that the SSID now has no space in it. Which seems a silly thing to have caused ANY issue, but at this point I have no other ideas. ^^;; If anyone has an idea what was up, I would be very obliged, in case it happens again!

  • Cannot find WiFi driver for E-15 0319-3SU

    Hi,
I've tried to locate the WiFi driver for an E-15 0319-3SU without sucess.  I tried all of the available drivers on the site according to the model I have and can't seem to get one to work.  I have reaffirmed that the driver is showing as missing in Device Manager.  I'm using Win7 x64.  Sadly Lenovo System Update for whatever reason doesn't recognize the missing driver and won't update it either, so I'm up a creek!
I reformatted one of these a while ago and recall having a lot of trouble locating the correct driver.  I had saved the driver but have since overwritten it so I can't use it.  Can someone please help?!
    Thanks!
