MBP display problems, only in Windows running 3D programs

3D works well in Mac envt, eg WoW; however display fades out & becomes unusable 20 mins into 3D game (Total War Rome) in Windows envt. This is a brand new MBP, so I'd think the drivers for the ATI Mobi Radeon x1600 should be up to date. Any ideas. Direct x9 was installed.

Did you use the Boot Camp or ATi Catalyst drivers? Regardless, you might want to post this in the Boot Camp Forums…

Sort by kind display problem - only folder icons

Hi, I have the following problem with Finder in Lion (happened in all 10.7.0 to 10.7.3):
When I use the "sort by kind" function in Lion, usually the categorie is displayed in a lighter text with a line underneith. Now it happens from time to time (suddenly) that the display changes and instead of the lighter text, the categories are displayed as "folders". Except they are not folders, the sorting still works and I cannot click on them. The category titles just look like folders and even have a folder icon in front of them.
When I re-select "Sort by kind" the problem is gone for a while.

Note that in the second screenshot the very left column still behaves like expected but every layer underneith (that is to the right of it) has the display problem.
I also encountered that when this happens, I am not able to simply drag-and-drop files in Finder anymore. Instead I have to select them first (by blicking on them) and then drag them. Usually this first click to select is not necessary. Again, after re-selecting "sort by kind" this problem is gone.
Also, this happened on all the Macs I own that run Lion, so I'm pretty sure it is not a system specific problem.
Is there a solution to this issue?

iam a flash flex developer and have the following problem:
( sorry for my bad english )
at the start of my app iam playing a flv video, on [ firefox, windows 32, flashplayer 10,1,102,64, ] i get the following display error:
- the flash position is wrong, also the scaling and the video stops after a few seconds ( differs every reload )
- when i check position and scaling / or size in html with firebug everything looks correct.
- also hardware acceleration on or off changes nothing
- also caching is not the problem
here the screen from all other browsers:
- the video plays to the end and everything behaves correct.

What version of Firefox are you using, and do you use the FF plugin_container?
I don't know if this is actually a Flash Player problem; perhaps you should also ask in the Flash or Flex forum.

Display problems in Microsoft Windows Developer Preview

I'm using Firefox 10.0.1 in Microsoft Windows Developer Preview. The menu bar sometimes gets discolored or the colors get all mixed up while browsing, especially when switching tabs. I'm sure that all my drivers are up to date, graphics drivers are properly installed. Although the drivers are meant for Windows 7 but they should work on Windows Developer Preview (I guess?).

Yes all drivers has been testet.
The problems has occured on many nvidia drivers (including toshibas own), in many games and different directx versions.
Sometimes the graphics is fine, but at other times there is a lot of green on the screen. Maybe it is a heat or overload problem?
Is it possible to set the cooling fan to max rpm and always on? Just to see if that make any difference.

There is no anything displayed on browser after i run the program.

I developed a program refer to SAP standard example,But after i DEPLOY successfully and RUN it , the IE browser display a blank without any error message . i check the JCO connection its OK , So what's the problem ?

Add an additional debug message inside method wdDoModifyView().
Better: Attach the debugger to your application and set breakpoints at those places where you have debug statements now.
Try to comment out every code in wdDoInit() of view and component controller. Do you see the view then?
Meanwhile I am not sure anymore your view is embedded correctly in the window. Open the context menu on the window and select "Embed view", select existing view etc.

Problem of connection while running a program on PXI

Often, when I use a Labview program running on PXI, I lose the connection with PXI and have to stop my program and reboot PXI.
It's happens with heavy program using a lot of IO port, but also some very basic and light program. Have you ever had this kind of problem ? Do you think it comes from PXI or from my laptop (which is quite powerfull however), or the cross cable which links both ?

Firefox window bar display problem

Consumer producer - Acquisiton image but only producer loop run

Dear all
I try acquire and save image from Basler camera L301kc and NI PCe 1427 framegrabber. I create a producer/ consumer loop because the save take more time that the acquisition and if I do both in the same loop I lose frames. But I have problem: only producer loop run.
I have read all the threads but I didn't manage to solve my problem.
I have attached a VI code of how I was trying to do it. I am using LabView 2011.
Please any comments or help is deeply appreciated.

The producer and consumer loop has run but the Image Out in consumer loop is empty. Bruce attention to the error wire from the consumer loop wired to the destroy queue vi. But I don't find error.
I have attached a new VI code.

Problems live migrating Windows DomU

Hi,
I have problems when I live migrate a Windows DomU.
I receive the following output:
[root@wihsovs1 ~]# xm migrate -l 15 wihsovs2
Error: Timeout waiting for domain 15 to suspend
I'm able to start the DomU on both servers (xm create). I'm also able to live migrate Linux DomU without a problem, only the Windows ones doesn't work.
Somebody facing the same problem?

hi Rene,
your not able perform live migration of windows guest whereas you are able migrate linux guest. is this your question then check below:
1) if u had installed PV Drivers on windows guest then live migration will not happen.
2) Try to migrate a windows guest which doesn't have PV Drivers installed, migration will happen.

I tried to fix an email display problem by deleting

I tried to fix an email display problem--only a quarter of the messages appear on the screen--the second time this happened--by deleting my accounts and re-entering them. Now although the mail icon on the home page says I have 30+ messages, when I click on it, I get a screen with the word Mailboxes at the top but nothing underneath and nothing else on the screen except two blank boxes. In one it says "No Message Selected". How do I reset mail when this happens again as I assume it will.

My suggestion would be remove the email, restart the ipad and then connect to that specific e-mail. Sometimes some emails hosts tend to have problems with specific device. You were not clear what email service you are trying to connect it with.

How to run the program UMB_BSC_TABLE_CLEAN ?

I am getting a message telling inconsistency in the selection criteria while assigning the characteristic value in value fields of a measure of scorecard in SEM application. It's suggesting me to run the program "UMB_BSC_TABLE_CLEAN".
In the selection screen of "UMB_BSC_TABLE_CLEAN" apart from field for scorecard name there are 2 bullets - one for "Clean" and another for "Repair" and a checkbox named "Check".
Can anyone please tell me what are these selection screen options for ? Also to solve my problem how i'll run this program ?

Scorecard: select the scorecards whose database tables are to be cleaned or repaired.
Type of Table Change:
Clean Up:
Deletion of Scorecard elements that are no longer used or no longer need to be displayed
Deletion of value fields with value field selections that do not have a SAP BW counterpart
Repair
Restoration of inconsistent value field selections
Deletion of value fields for which the value field selections cannot be restored.
Check: If you set this indicator, all inconsistent entries are listed without changing the database table(s).

Macsafe 85w still not enough when running Heavy program on Macbook pro 2011 Quad Core

Is there any official announcement from apple on how macsafe 85w works & design flow or diagram..??
We know the magsafe 85w is not enough to run macbook pro quad core i7 and their family.. But there must be some reason why apple only allow maximum 85w only.. rite
I run this multiple test on my Macbook Pro early 2011, 17" 2.2 Quad core i7, 8G ram, to proving that the 85W is not enough.
-Im running this test on both OSX & win 7
-the battery capacity is 20% when i running this test
-the power adapter "macsafe" is plugin when i run this test
1) macsafe 85w turn to green to stop charging when rendering HD movie in Final Cut pro 7 in OSX ( but then it will turn to orange to charged again after you cancel the render)
2) macsafe 85w turn to green to stop charging when playing high graphic game such "Razor F1 2010" in Win 7 ( but then it will turn to orange to charged again after you quit the game)
3) macsafe 85w turn to green to stop charging when editing AVCHD on Sony vegas Pro 10 in Win 7 (it will turn to orange to charged again after you quit the program)
4) when the baterry reach 100%. then I run all of 3 heavy program above.. the baterry will drain slowly until 93% then it turn to orange to charging again.
(this will happen only when you run heavy program) 85w macsafe itself also not enough to run these program.. still need little battery support..
As i know this will happen to all macbook pro since before Quad core model. You must run heavy program, then you can determin this systoms..
Lastly, I really hope that all of this symtoms are the "macsafe work design", & not the macsafe fault... & really hope this symtoms will not damage the battery because regullaly charge on & off.
Maybe This is why new macbook pro design,, you cannot take out the battery... It still need the battery support also, while plugin..

Yes — but only when you're working the machine very hard. Most of the time, 85W is ample.

I want to install 16 gb ram but I don't think I can change the lack of video card. I wanted this basic machine because it has fairly long battery life. I don't need or want retina at this time. My model is the mid 2012 model. I am running the adobe collection for mac, I want to run the windows versions. Is it possible? What is the most ram I could access using something like fusion 5, assuming I could get fusion 5 to work? would it refuse to run because of the intel chipset and lack of video card?
If I'm wrong and there is a way to add a video card to this model, could some version of fusion and windows 7 access more than 2 gb operating ram?
What cost would I be incurring, and would it be cheaper to buy a windows laptop with more ram than I could access via a virtual machine?
I want to work on a client's work in the windows versions of the creative suite, with occasional usage of after effects for windows, and to use some web plug-ins only available in windows versions, and to try some windows-only video and audio software.

I'm hoping to install 16 G of opertating ram to allow more adobe programs to run concurrently- just when I am working on the mac side.
also, off track but, for years I have wanted a small machine that is more easily portable than my 15" machines. I have only had this used machine for a few weeks, but already I have been very satisfied and used it for presentations at clients. I don't want an air because I really want the dvd burner and player. No matter what apple says about wireless, there are decades of legacy work stored on optical discs all over the world, and I don't want to be unable to open something at a client's office because I don't have a dvd drive. Additionally, I have very large files I want to transfer via ethernet or firewire so that the transfer will take less time and be more secure than wifi. I resist apple's trend to make every machine a disposable toy that is viable only a year or so. I have read reviews that label the mbp it a poor value compared to the air. If all you need to do is text and communicate via wifi, many devices will sufice, and an air is certainly the most elegant. But what about the cost of large ssd's and protecting the drive against damage from shock? I want to be able to move this thing around and the small size is much safer inside my padded bag when I sit in narrow airplane seats, crowded trains and other congested spaces. I am much more likely to be able to borrow a large screen in a client's office ( with the use of one of the three adapters I had to buy) than to be able to borrow a dvd drive that has drivers for mac os 10.8.2. I suspect this may be the last generation of machines that have optical drives and ethernet, and that was why I purchased it so that I could continue to do work into the next few years. I am impressed by the retina display, but I need long battery life. And as beautiful as the retina display is, it is even more of a problem when trying to cross platform with the windows world. I wish I could infuence apple to do a trial product flow for a machine designed to work with 80% of the business world that uses windows. How spectacular that would be. With all their expertise and adept hardware design, to create a machine that cross platforms better than a windows machine itself works? Now that would be an accomplishment. Instead of 8 or 9 percent of the total computer sales, why not aim for a higher percentage? Smart devices will keep moving toward portable computers in power, anyway.

Fusion should work on your machine and if you put 16 GB of RAM in (see http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook_MacBook_Pro/Upgrade/DDR3_160 0MHz_SDRAM), Fusion can access a good portion of that. Also, in a Virtual Machine, the guest OS is presented with Fusion's video card emulation, not what's in hardware on your Mac. Of course, finding Windows 7 now that Win 8 has been released could take some doing and the Win 8 Pro upgrade price is supposed to jump to $200 the end of the month. Add that to the price of Fusion and the extra RAM and you're beginning to get into the realm of low end real PC's.
As to cross platform, I assume you're aware of BootCamp (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1461).

MBP via HDMI to 24" monitor only runs the monitor not MBP display??

I own a 2008 Macbook Pro 15" from 08.
Have used monitors in the past but none via HDMI.
Recently got an Asus VE247H 24" monitor.
Connectd via DVI or VGA it works with a terrible screen resolution but i can still use my MBP pro display as a second monitor.
When using HDMI the resolution is great at 1080P but i cannot use my MBP display as a second monitor.
When using HDMI to mini display port am i limited to just 1 monitor?
