MBP doesn't save files, then crashes - Illustrator

Hi...I'm in need of some direction on what to do here. My Illustrator CS2 program on my first generation MBP decided to crash and not register any of the saves I made before the crash. I had been hitting "Save" in Illustrator for over 2 hours, and when the program "unexpectedly quit" I went to reopen Illustrator and the file only to find a very old version, not a version saved 2 minutes ago.
It's worse this morning, Illustrator CS2 is crashing every couple of minutes, and the "saved" file is a few "saves" back, if that makes sense. I just can't get Illustrator to save my file to disk, or to memory stick, or the anything else. It's like my saves don't register, and almost anything I do in Illustrator crashes the program.
Is this a hard-drive problem? A RAM problem? I have sneaking suspicions something is up with my logic board..anyways, it's the only other problem with the macbook pro (see http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/sho...101#post487101)
any help, advice, or direction would be appreciated.

Illustrator CS3 puts files in the following places…
~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator CS3
~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Save For Web AI 12.0 Prefs
~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS3 Settings
What you can do is you move all/some of these files to you desktop, reset your AI settings and see if your problem goes. By moving them to you desktop you leave yourself the opportunity to put them back if it doesn't fix things by having AI make new ones.

Save for web crash - Illustrator CC

I have tried to save for web on Illustrator CC but it just lags and then i have to force quit.
I tried to use save for web on Illustrator CS6 and it works fine, so im not too sure whats causing the problem.
Can anyone help me? I dont get a crash report so im not sure where i should look for a problem?

InDesign CS6 saves file, but crashes when I try to open this file

Hi,
I am having a huge problem with Indesign since yesterday. It worked fine before.
I use Adobe Creative Suite CS6.
Since yesterday, I have problems with files that I just saved. I can open older files (from before yesterday), but I cannot open any file that I saved recently. Indesign crashes every time I open the file (the file is visible, but right before all the palettes are loaded, Indesign closes down).
I already saved several files (under different file names) since yesterday, the problem stays the same.
I already uninstalled and re-installed CS6, it didn't solve the problem.
This is quite a nightmare. I am thankful for every effort to help!
All other programs in the Creative Suite work fine!

It is puzzling indeed. And quite a desaster for me, since I have a deadline to meet.
No changes, no new installations (not known, maybe updates in the background??).
InDesign started crashing in the middle of the workprocess. Since then the problem persists.
When I open an old file and start working on it, InDesign also crashes after a while during the workprocess.
So I can't work, I can't save files ... booo!
This happened with an update of a document that I work on all the time, a monthly magazine.
Maybe it is a Windows problem, although it is strange that all other programs work fine. (I use Windows XP)

PSE 2.0 doesn't save files on a PC with windows Vista with 2Tb HD while possible on a 500 Gb HD

on the same PC I use since 4 years I changed the Hard Dusk, PSE 2.0 can read the files from this 2 Tb HD but it doesn't save any file on it while everythibg was OK using the previous HD of 500 Gb : any suggested setting to solve this problem ?

Unfortunately, this is a problem with old version of PS and PSE. They can't see drives that large.

Help! Save File Dialog CRASHES Every Program

Suddenly, I cannot save a file in any program in Mac OS X. As soon as I select "Save..." or hit Ctrl+S, the program crashes. This happens in every program, all of them!
The problem persists across multiple reboots, and even after repairing permissions, verifying the disk, and booting into single-user mode and running fsck (and the disk passed).
Please email me directly at jonmills at email dot unc dot edu if you have any ideas how to fix this. It has rendered my computer unusable, and I may have to completely re-install.

to make things clearer a screenshot of the dialog I'm talking about. this happens everywhere such a generic save file dialog appears.

Skype doesn't save files where it suppose to!

Same here - my friend sent me pictures, they came with strange long numbers names and all are downloaded to C/user name/AppData/Roaming/Skype/skype user name/media_messaging/media_cache Thou the auto.download are disabled and another folder are set for the downloads. Same as yours the only way to get files in correct place without fishing 'em out of the media_cache folder are by pressing 'save as' and I had to do it to each file separately. The second trouble is that after I removed files from the media_cache folder and opened conversation again - the files were saved to media_cache folder again by itself. _______________________________ Again - 1. Autosave disabled. 2. Correct folder for saving/downloading files set (for ex. - c/downloads) 3. Received files (seems like smaller copies of pictures) are saved to media_cache folder before I choose any picture/file to download. - by itself. 4. Pressing any picture/file causes it to be saved to the same media_cache folder instead of the folder that are set as default for downloads (for ex. - c/downloads) 5. Only way to save files to the correct location is by pressing save as and choosing download folder individually for each received file. 6. Files (pictures) name changed to the strange very long number name instead of the original name.

Older Skype versions are not sending image files the "Cloud-way", so you would have received them the old "P2P-way" with option to save to a specified folder.
The difference between the Cloud and the P2P mode is that with the new Cloud-mode the image files are sent to a dedicated server and the receiver downloads these files from the server. This means also that the sender and the receiver don't need to be Online on Skype at the same time for the file transfer to work.
In the case of the old P2P mode, the files are transferred directly from the sender to the receiver and both must be Online at the same time for the transfer to work.

V5 doesn't save files

When trying to download a 198 MB update to Nero, http://www.nero.com/eng/downloads-nero9-update.php, I get a 'Save File' dialogue box, but when I click on 'Save,' nothing happens! I had this same problem in v3.6; the reason I updated to v5, also to make ZoneAlarm ForceField work.

Photoshop doesn't save file extension

I'm using PS cs5.1 64 bit and Bridge cs5 in Win7 Pro 64 bit.
When I "Save As", photoshop won't write the file extension unless I explicitly type it (i.e. i have to type "filename.psd" as opposed to just "filename") in the file name text box.
If I Save As the file without specifying the extension, bridge simply displays a blank page icon for the file, and if I double click it, I get the "don't know what application to use" dialog. If I select photoshop as the program to use, ps will open the file correctly.
However, even after I change the filename in bridge by adding the extension, bridge displays the PS icon, but won't preview the file (doesn't show a thumbnail).
If I want bridge to show a thumbnail, I have to re-open the file in PS, then Save As, remembering to explicitly specify the extension. THEN, Bridge will show a thumbnail.
How can I correct this? I've gone through the preferences dialog and have "save lowercase extension" checked, but this appears to be a preference for case of saved extension, not a specification that an extension should always be saved.
btw: I tried the regedit fix specified on other help forums, but this didn't help.

I think I figured it out.
I was saving filenames which contain "." in the name (e.g. "BO.HG.M.psd").
When I saved the file with the name "BO_HG_M", photoshop appended the .psd extension for me, and bridge is happy.
Because of the application of the images, it's important that we use the "." format for the names, so I'll just live with it and try to remember to type the ".psd" on the end.

Keynote wont save files/corrupted crashing

This issue began last night so I tried to reinstall using CleanMyMac2. App Store did not recognize the unistall so I had to use AppleJack. Was then
able to redownload Keynote. Problem persist: Keynote gives warning messages that it cannot save the media elements(pics,movies) and that an error
has occured and I should quit and restart.

Try the following in the exact order given:

Uninstall all of iWork if you have this, otherwise uninstall Keynote on its own if other iWork applications are not installed.
This must be done with an application remover to delete the installation properly. Appcleaner is known to work correctly for this purpose, it is free and can be downloaded from here: Appcleaner Download

shutdown the Mac and restart. After the start up chime, hold down the shift key until the apple logo appears
let the Mac complete the start up procedure completely, it will take longer than usual as the software installation on the hard drive is being repaired

go to; Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility > First Aid > Repair Disc Permissions
when this is completed restart the Mac normally

Reinstall iWork or Keynote as appropriate using the original method on purchase, using the installer file or install from the App Store.

Acrobat 11 pro (Creative Cloud master collection licence) doesn't save files changes only from the network and a user profile. We can't recreate the user profile due other programs setting

Steps to reproduce bug:
1. edit .pdf file from MS network (i.e a share).
1.1 Browsing the network.
1.2 Once that the file is found.
1.3 Select the file, right click and select edit with Adobe Acrobat".
2. save changes.
Results:
I get message box "document could not save because write access was not granted. only read"
Expected results: I have to save the file because the user has all rights file’s security.
Can you help me ?

First, you should ask in Acrobat
The Cloud forum is not about using individual programs
The Cloud forum is about the Cloud as a delivery & install process
If you will start at the Forums Index https://forums.adobe.com/welcome
You will be able to select a forum for the specific Adobe product(s) you use
Click the "down arrow" symbol on the right (where it says All communities) to open the drop down list and scroll

PS cs3 doesn't save files as JPG or others except PSD or PDF!!!

I think you may have been mis-remembering Jennifer, unless you save for web, in which case it gets converted to 8-bit.
As Freeagent said, check the colour mode settings.

Can't save file - program crashes

Hi I spent many weeks producing a website with Muse and kept saving new versions of it. One day it was fine - the next it wasn't, though I think the problem started after the latest update. Every time I went to save it the program closed with a message such as:
Adobe muse CC has encountered and error and will now exit. Please report the last few actions you took leading up to this error to the Adobe Muse CC team.
Dangling Ref or Ownership: NestedListStyles refers to unknown UID,
NestedListStyle refers to unknown UID
So I just opened earlier versions of the same file only to find the same thing happening no matter how far back I go. I can't even keep the file open long enough to cut and paste the content into another blank site.
Please help, this has involved a great deal of work.

Thank you for your reply Sanjit but website design businesses can't afford to wait over a week for help on major issues like that. I had to rebuild the website from scratch. Another failure on Adobe's part I'm afraid. If Muse wasn't so clever I would have stopped paying Adobe long ago!

Sony File Commander really doesn't save files on sd card - they vanished after restart

Like in the subject. I've Sony Xperia Z3 dual sim version - 16GB + 64GB Kingston SD card. I was recording very important meeting with my phone. But after a few hours the internal space was full and I moved all of the recordings to my sd card using Sony File Commander. The files where there. But I have to restart my phone and I was so surprised that after doing that all of my files on sd card that I've moved using SFC where gone. I've lost very important stuff.
I'm using Sony Audio Recorder and this program can save recordings only to internal storage. There is no option in settings to change that. Please help! Sony, help!
Going back to factory settings, uninstalling software updates and cleaning data of SFC didn't solve the problem. All versions of SFC have this problem.

I upgraded to Leopard easily using DVD, but realized that while I had backed up all of my documents, I forgot about my iphoto library or any of my Firefox preferences, bookmarks, address book, etc. Is there a way for me to "go back" to 10.4.10 and either back everything up, or do the upgrade over again using "Archive and Install"??? Suggestions?
