MBP in Battery mode...How long does it last?

Hi Guys,
I ve got MBP 2.0 w2GB RAM.
How long does the battery last if i am only doing surfing?
I was running an audio application called Ableton Live (which is similar to Garage but much much better) and it only last for 32 minutes.
I ve got Bootcamp, the other day I was running on XP and complained about the not having enough power . I only unlplugged the AC for 15 mins.
I double check the battery's serial against Apple's battery re-call program but serial is ok so it is not in re-call list.
thanks.
M

You should calibrate your battery: wait until the sign indicating "low battery" appears, then wait at least 5 hours (computer "sleeping") and finally charge the battery without interruptions until the battery is fully charged. During the charge, you can use your computer.
This procedure has to be done every month.
See under About this Mac (Apple menu), "more info", "power" (I think). There, you will see the actual maximum capacity of your battery. The value for a new battery is nearly 5500 mAh but can be a little higher.
Don't forget to turn Bluetooth off and to lower the luminosity of the screen.

  • Does the computer lock me after a certain amount of failed password attmepts, even when i finally have the correct password? recently changed root account password, but then forgot today and when tried again didn't work.  if so, how long does lock last?

Ok. So I just changed my ADMINISTRATIVE ROOT PASSWORD the other day and when I tried to log in today I forgot it.  I tried different variations of
the password I had set, because I wasn't sure if i had maybe set it in Caps Lock or used a different number in the sequence.  I got the message several times
about "too many attempts, try again later".  Does the computer lock me from signing in even with the correct password after a certain amount of failed
attempts?  If so, how long does this lock last for?  When can I try again?  Or is there something I need to do to remove that lock now?  I'm pretty sure I
had the right password finally but it still wouldn't accept it.
Also, I don't have any other administrative users set up on my macbook pro.  I'm the only one who uses it, so I've always just used that original User from my
    original setup.

    Do this:
    1. Reboot
    2. Hold apple key + s key down after you hear the chime. (command + s on newer Macs)
    3. When you get text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):
    (Type these commands very carefully)
    mount -uw /
    rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
    shutdown -h now
    4. After rebooting you should have a brand new admin account. When you login as the new admin you can change the passord on the old one.

  • How long does it last

I have a 2008 Mac Pro that i bought when it came out and it is still in perfect condition. It has 8 cores, 8gb ram, 8800gt video card 3tb hd. at the end of this year it will be three years old. I use it for final cut pro and other things. about how long will it last
    -it is in perfect condition
-has a very stable power supply
    -never had one problem yet
-still edits blue ray video stable
should i upgrade this year or next
    thanks

I am still answering queries about Macs discontinued before the turn of the century. The Hardware will last a good long time. You may have to replace a memory module ( FBDIMMs run Hot) or a Hard drive along the way.
The software you are running today will do the jobs you do today, using your current workflow, for decades.
Whether your needs will expand beyond the capabilities of that particular computer remains to be seen. And whether new "must have" killer Apps will come along and make your Mac seem slow, or lacking in some other way, no one knows for sure.
\[But that is what happened to most pre-1999 Macs. You can't give them away. Folks don't want them because they can't run the latest Web Browsers or play YouTube Videos].

  • If you cache credentials in Safari how long does it last for on iOS?

Can anyone verify how long cached login credentials last in Safari, and when they get cleared without user intervention?
I have been reading other posts relating to a change that was made to Safari but not sure if it is related "Several people have reported problems that Safari’s cache prevents them from browsing a web site’s current version; instead Safari loads pages from previous cached files  (iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch). It has also been reported that clearing cache, cookies and history does not fix this problem."
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Mine just quit, it froze in the rebooting screen and does nothing else, please help. How can I restore it to factory state

  • In Restore mode - how long does it take? It keeps looping? HELP!!!!

Hi - I have had NO problems with my iPhone until I have recently tried to upgrade the software through iTunes.
During the update, the phone was unplugged from the USB cord. Now when I connect it to the Restore, it gets 'stuck' on the Restoring iPhone Software part. I have an apple logo on my phone and that circle keeps turning and turning. It turned for about an hour and a half when I unplugged it because I thought it was stuck. I tried the reboot (holding the home button and the sleep/wake button) and now I get the 'sync to iTunes' pic whenever I turn on my iPhone. I am trying a Restore again, and the same thing is happening.
Am I just impatient or should the restore take over 1.5 hours? I am not getting any error messages but the progress bar on the Restoring iPhone software... is full but the little wheel on the phone just keeps turning.
I am SO upset as I need my phone for work and now I just keep getting the sync to iTunes pic and NO PHONE!!! HELP PLEASE!!! Do I just wait it out or is something wrong? (FYI - I am on a PC)

Does your computer have USB 2 ports, or USB 1.1? USB 2 is 35 times faster than USB 1.1; a restore takes about 10 minutes with USB 2, so I would not be surprised if it takes 6 hours on USB 1.1. It also may not finish at all. Next check that the phone is fully charged, that it connects directly to a USB port on the back of the computer and not to a hub, and that there are no other power-using devices connected (Printer, keyboard and mouse are not power-using).

  • Battery question- How long should they last

I got a 15 inch MBP in August 2011.  This is my first Apple laptop.  I would sure appreciate some help on this one.
When I first got the computer, I would charge it and use it on and off of the AC.  I read about calibrating the battery and did it once about a month ago.  Then I did it a few days ago.  Since I calibrated the second time, it seems the battery runs out very fast.  For example, this morning the battery was fully charged.  I used it for less than 10 minutes.  The battery percentage read 98 I believe.  I put the computer to sleep.  I think about 5 hours or so latter I went to check the computer and it had gone to sleep with a depleted battery.  It seems to me that going from 98% to 0 in sleep mode is not good.
Before I calibrated it seemed to do fine.
Please help me and give me any suggestions you can.
    Thank you very much.

MBP's made after 2009 have pre calibrated batteries and do not need to be calibrated: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1490
The battery should last 1,000 cycles before it reaches 80% of its original capacity.  Read this:http://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.html

  • Applecare - how long does it last

I have read through a variety of posts and some say that you should not buy applecare until just before your one year free warranty runs out as the three years warranty starts from when you buy applecare
A couple of other posts say that you get three years from the purchase of your product so in fact if you wait a year you are only getting two additional years for your money
Help...Which is correct - do i get three years from the time i buy applecare or does it only last until the product is three years old
Also in the Uk applecare costs £139 as opposed to $169 in the States - can i claim an ism for this - ie racism, countryism, englishism!!!!!!!!

A couple of other posts say that you get three years from the purchase of your product so in fact if you wait a year you are only getting two additional years for your money
That's right. As long as you purchase Applecare before the first year expires you are buying two additional years for a total maximum of three from the date of purchase.

  • How long does it take to charge an iPhone 4S from 0% to 100%? And how long does it last at normal usage with cellular data and 3G switched on?

I just got a second hand iPhone 4S and just wanna know if what's happening with my battery is normal

A couple hours to charge.  Most users get almost a day with "normal" use.  Note that this is an average and can vary greatly depending on the user.

    Usually 1 1/2 Hours tops.
When your iphone is at 20% battery remaining, how long does it take to charge?
    Around the Same
When your iphone is at 50% battery remaining, how long does it take to charge?
    Thirty Minutes.
I think if it is taking you 6 to 7 hours then something is wrong here. Either the battery is flawed, the cable or dock is flawed, or something is wrong with the outlet. It should not take that long.

  • How long does my timecapsule last?

I have a 2TB timecapsule from 2010, how long does it last?
my external harddisk cannot backup all files on the timecapsule any more and so I have to chose to buy a new time capsule and use the current one as backup; or buy a 100 euro new external harddisk. But how long is the lifetime of a timecapsule anyway....
    thanks,
    Frank

    Just look through the discussions..
People are having serious setup issues.
Wireless not working to devices where it did with the older one.
Slow disk performance. Much worse than the old TC.
Many seem to work for a couple of days and then fail.. so unreliable.
I do not have one.. I am only going by what is posted.. but if you like being on the bleeding edge then go for it. Personally I prefer to buy a product that has a bit more maturity.

That listed 7 hours is with very limited use. Low screen brightness, low keyboard backlight, No WiFi or bluetooth.
Most I have ever gotten from my 15" 2011 model is around 5-6 hours and that was with very light use. Just Web, Chrome, and email, thunderbird, and Wifi.

Well, the two questions you've asked aren't really related, but that being said, you should probably plug it in. You're going to have to restore the software to the device via iTunes.
