MBP is angry when iPhone is plugged in or Flash, Safari, or Fusion open

By angry, I mean, close my 'notebook' (not LAPtop) if I am in class and wait for the fan to shut off due to embarrassment.
Any of these things trigger it...
If an iPhone is plugged in whether it is syncing or just charging.
If I am surfing in Safari, especially with Flash.
I used to be able to boot and use XP in Fusion for light tasks, now, simply booting it reproduces this.
3D Games.
Not even all of these things at once, sometimes just one of these can cause loud fans.
I shouldn't have to use SMCFanControl.
Here is what my Activity Monitor looks like now, I only have Safari, Activity Monitor and the Finder open, and it is not currently showing off the loud fans. I recently did a clean install of Leopard without any Migration or Application transfer, started that from scratch. (I changed my shortname to user for this post).

What else... I use the newest beta (yes, I know, BETA) of Fusion with XP SP3. All system sw is updated on Mac and Windows. With Fusion, I have it set to only use one core, sometimes I see the CPU usage spike to %110 so maybe that is the problem there.
Flash I guess hates iPhone and it hates Mac with nearly the same passion.
Why on Earth does my MBP hate my 1st gen iphone?
Thanks ahead of time for any insight and suggestions.

Are you using a proxy server? There are some problems with data syncing to iphones and mobileme with automatic proxy servers.

If your computer is running Windows, go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.  Check to see if "Apple Mobile Device" Service is Started.  If not right click on this service and select Start.  Also make sure Startup type is set to Automatic.  If not, right click on this service, select Properties and set it to Automatic.

Why does the Data (wifi) stop working when  IPhone 5c plugged in for recharging?

It does not, or should not.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

  • How to stop Aperture starting up when iPhone is plugged in?

    Hi all,
silly question... but Aperture keeps opening whenever my iPhone is plugged in. Does anyone know how to stop this? Not a big deal... but its getting annoying!
    Thanks in advance!
    Lil

And, if you want Aperture to launch when you connect your camera, but not when you connect your iPhone, open Image Capture when your iPhone is connected, highlight your iPhone in the sidebar, and select the No Application option in the lower left-hand corner where it says "connecting this iPhone opens"
You can have different options for each device.

  • ITunes 10.5 crashes when iPhone 4 plugged in

After my partition got corrupted last night (thanks 10.7.2 and FileVault!) I restored from a 1 month old backup. I updated to 10.7.2 and iTunes to 10.5. Now when I plug my iPhone 4 in (Running iOS 5 GM), it tells me I need to put the passcode in and unlock it first. So I do this and click the 'try again' button, but when I do that iTunes closes. If I open up iTunes with my iPhone already unlocked, it crashes. How can I fix this?
Edit: Just plugged it in on a Windows machine, it works fine, so it doesn't appear to be an issue with the phone.

Not related to the original question asked by the original poster and therefore unlikely to be addressed here. Start your own thread.
And I for one don't know what you mean by downloading "your" pics from the Store. I've never done this and have no idea what you are talking about.

  • ITunes relaunches on its own when iPhone is plugged in?!

    Hi guys,
This "issue" never happened before, but since I upgraded iOS to version 7 on my iPhone 4 (GSM), iTunes (also recently and manually updated to the latest version) will restart after I close it when my phone is plugged in in USB. Basically, I back up / sync my iPhone, then close iTunes. About thirty seconds later, iTunes restarts on its own, and I have to close it again to keep it that way, until the next restart.
At first, I thought it had to do with a loose or shaky USB slot, but I let my Mac sit on a flat surface, with the iPhone by its side, and every time I close iTunes, it restarts on its own, no matter what. Repairing permissions didn't help.
This is driving me nuts, all the more so since I've checked in iTunes preferences, and couldn't find any mention of a "keep alive" iTunes functionality.
I should add that this problem also happens when syncing via Wifi, but not as regularly as in USB mode.
Ideas, anyone? Should I check or uncheck something on the iPhone?

Well, sure enough, there it was, and boy, it didn't come alone...

  • ITunes Store not connecting when iPhone is plugged in

My iTunes Store connection works fine when I launch it from the shortcut. However, when I plug in my iPhone and it launches iTunes, I cannot seem to access the iTunes Store. None of the images are showing up and when I try to click on a link, I get an unknown error (-1004).
Has anybody else seen this issue and know what the fix is? Thanks.

    Hi gusbl,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The behavior you're describing can be caused by connection issues or other software conflicting with iTunes.
See this article for some good troubleshooting steps you can try:

    Hi Michelle-
iTunes is not compatible with XP's Fast User Switching feature, which allows more than one person to be logged into the computer at the same time.
You can disable this by going to Start/Control Panel/User Accounts then 'Change the way users log on and off' and remove the checkmark from Fast User Switching.

  • ITunes doesn't launch automatically when iPhone is plugged in.

It used to be, that when I plugged my iPhone into my Mac, iTunes launched automatically. It stopped doing that.
If I launch iTunes myself the iPhone appears and everything works fine. I checked all the settings and asked the guy at the Genius Bar, but no joy. Anyone know what can cause this?

    Hey Alexander,
Has iTunes Helper been removed from the login items? Go to System Preferences> Accounts> Login Items.
You can add it again manually as described here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1610692
you can also get it back by downloading and reinstalling the latest version of iTunes.

  • ITunes crashes when iPhone is plugged into computer

Ever since upgrading both iPhone software and iTunes iTunes shuts down when I plug my iPhone in to my computer. I have a 32gig G3S iPhone. iTunes runs fine and the phone works ok after a glitch or two this past week (lost phone connectivity Saturday and then black screened on Monday). However everytime I plug my iPhone into the USB port (direct connection) iTunes will give me the unexpected error message and need to shut down. I have followed the directions on how to completely uninstall iTunes and all related software (QuickTime bonjour etc) and still the same problem. I am running winXP Home and it's up to date.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Found my own solution.
Deleting Podcasts that I had downloaded using my wifi connection instead of iTunes.

  • Stop default photo app opening when iPhone 3GS plugged in

I'm new to iPhone, but not to Macs. When I plug my 3GS into my MacBook, it auto-opens both iTunes and Canon Image Browser (which years ago I set as my default image capture app, because I prefer it to iPhoto). I don't want Image Browser to open every time I plug the phone in - how can I stop it doing this?

Your default app for importing photos from a digital camera will launch automatically when any digital camera is connected to your Mac. Your iPhone is detected as a digital camera when connected if there are any photos in the camera roll, which should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera.
I use iPhoto for photo storage and after the import process is complete, I delete all photos from the camera roll. If I want any of the recently imported photos available on my iPhone for viewing, I add the photos to an existing iPhoto album that I've selected to be transferred to my iPhone under the Photos tab for my iPhone sync preferences, or create a new iPhoto album followed by a sync.
To prevent your chosen photo importing app from launching automatically when any digital camera is connected to your Mac including when connecting your iPhone when there are photos in the camera roll, launch the Image Capture application located in your Applications folder. Go to Image Capture preferences and select none or no application for automatically launch when a digital camera is connected.

  • Itunes "reportcrash" when iPhone/iPad Plugged In

I upgraded my iPad Mini with Retina display to iOS8 and it seemed to mess up and put the iPad in DFU mode.  So I just did the recovery and it updated just fine.  However, when I try and add apps from iTunes to my iPad they don't show up on the iPad even though they are on the little layout screens in Itunes.  I can add them directly to the iPad via the app store with no problem.  However, this issue is now occurring with my iPhone as well.
There is some bug that kicks in when I plug in either device to my MacBook when iTunes is running.  If no device is plugged in iTunes runs just fine.  The moment I plug in either device I see "ReportCrash" in the Activity Monitor get pegged to 100% and it goes away the instant I unplug either device.  Here are some of the things I have tried:
    1. Repaired permissions
    2. Connected devices over Wifi Sync (same "ReportCrash" in activity monitor"
    3. Removed all Pref files and restarted computer
    4.  Uninstalled itunes and restarted computer then reinstalled itunes.
    5. Made a dummy account (totally untouched)
All tries result in the same pegging of my CPU the moment any device is attached.  I am running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) and the iPad is on iOS8 and the iPhone is 7.0.6.
Would love some ideas of what to do to fix this issue!  Thanks!

I think it is pretty much confirmed to be an iTunes 11.4 issue on 32-bit machines. I found a forum topic that talked about reloading the kernel extensions underlying iTunes as it fixed the issue for some people. This involved unloading the .kext file. Reinstalling 11,4 and reloading the .kext file through the terminal. When I tried this my machine reported that the .kext file installed by 11.4 didn't contain an extension with the right architecture. Pulling the old .kext file from TimeMachine this one did, but it wouldn't link with 11.4.
So basically I believe iTunes application was compiled for 32 and 64 bit architectures, but the .kext files weren't. So the iTunes installer didn't complain, because as far as it is concerned everything was fine. At run time however, we got the symptoms we observed.
I found a post that showed which kext files and a few others were installed by 11.4 that stops 11.3 installing properly, and then reinstalled 11.3. Everything works fine now, and we will have to wait and see if Apple will be bothered about recompiling iTunes 11.4 to support all Intel platforms. Sadly I suspect they will simply declare 32 bit Intel based Mac unsupported, despite recoil pile being a relatively trivial task.

  • TS1347 Itunes does not recognize outlook when Iphone is plugged in and the info tab is clicked.  I added the addin in outlook in the advavced tools option.  I want to sync contacts and calendars with outlook and my iphone s.  I have completed the 7.0.1 os

Outlook contacts is not an option when trying to sync to my iphone.  I added the addin in the outlook tools section.  It has worked in the past but I have not used it lately to sync.

    Hi Sergio,
Try the general tips in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1692
The steps for Resetting the Sync History will most likely resolve the issue.
