MBP m2009 optical bay hdd no longer recognized in mavericks.  Anyone know why?  It worked fine before the upgrade.

Hi, I recently upgraded my MBP (m2009) to Mavericks and now my 2nd HDD (internal optical bay) is no longer recognized.  It was fine before upgrade and works fine when I hook up externally.  Very strange.  HDD cable appears fine.  It does not show up in Disk Utility either.  Appreciate any ideas.  Thanks.

Hi, I'm back home.  Here's the info:
  #:                       TYPE NAME                    SIZE       IDENTIFIER
   0:      GUID_partition_scheme                        *120.0 GB   disk0
   1:                        EFI EFI                     209.7 MB   disk0s1
   2:                  Apple_HFS Mavericks SSD           119.7 GB   disk0s2
Does this help?
Thanks.

  • Upgraded my iPad to v 5.0.1 and can find no way to add an event to iCal.   There are no longer any " " signs and tapping on the calendar doesn't do anything except turn the page.  Any suggestions?  It worked fine before the upgrade.

iCal was working fine before upgrading to v. 5.0.1 on my iPad.  All the events from my iCloud account have disappeared and I cannot find a way to add a new event. No "+" sign, tapping doesn't work. I've tried everything I can think of. Any suggestions?

    Peggy,
Go to  iPad>Settings>iCloud, and turn Calendars "Off." Then after waiting a couple of minutes turn Calendars back "On."

Nothing. It's nothing to do with PSE; this is a limitation of Photos, as is the loss of being able to use an external editor without exporting copies of your images.

After not using my macbook pro for 10 days, my wireless mouse no longer works. I had the computer turned off. I've changed the batteries, gone to universal preferences, mouse preferences but the computer won't recognize the mouse. Any suggestions?

Got it. Thanks. I deleted the mouse (not an apple, but a logitech which has worked fine for me) and then re-discovered it and it's working. Appreciate the advice.

  • My LightScribe optical drive is no longer recognized. It seems to run, but isn't in the drive list.

I have tried updating the driver, deleting the existing driver first, but when I try to reinstall the newly downloaded driver I get the following error:
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
To start a troubleshooter that can help you resolve any problems you might be having, click Finish.
The troubleshooter does not offer any useful suggestions. How can I get the driver to install? If there is some kind of corruption, what are my options? If I have to replace the optical device, what can I replace it with?

My own HP pavillion has the same problem. Try googling "Vista doesn't recognize DVD" one answer is to edit our upper and lower filters in a registry setting, another is to power down and remove battery for at least a minute and a third is a script that you can run. I only mention them because I've seen all 3 and according to the sites all 3 have met with some success. Sadly for me, no glory! Good luck as I'm still looking.

  • AirPlay no longer appears on iPad3, anyone know why?

AirPlay no longer appears on my ipad3 as an option when videos are being played. Does anyone have any suggestions? All my software versions on Apple TV and iPad3 are current. Both are connected to the network, and AirPlay is turned on in Apple TV.  Thanks

After trying a few things I reset my router, checked a video and voila, the airplay icon is back. I would suggest anyone that has this problem, just reset your router.

I opened my iTunes today & found that all of my playlists are gone.  I uninstalled & reinstalled iTunes, but that didn't help.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • I installed the current iTunes 10.3.1.55 and now my iPhone isn't recognized on my Windows XP PC.  Worked fine before updating iTunes.

I installed the new iTunes software update this afternoon and now I can't get my Windows XP to recognize my iPhone 3Gs.  It worked fined up until installing today's iTunes update.  Anyone else have this issue??

iTunes 10.3.1.55 and previous verisons were freezing up at random times when I would try to connect my phone or while adding music or applications to it.  I took the advice posted and restarted the AMDS.  So far, that seems to have fixed my problem.
    THANKS!!!

  • Does Anyone Know How Many Pre-Orders before the No Longer Accepting Orders Announcemtn

  • Canon T3i download cable will no longer work after 10.10 download. Plugging the cable into the 15 inch laptop says not compatible with software. Was fine before the 10.10 upgrade.

10.10 is installed. Now when plugging the download cable in from my wife Canon T3i camera to my wifes 15 inch Apple laptop it says not compatible with the software. Worked fine before the 10.10 upgrade. However I CAN download my pictures from my Canon 6D camera to MY 15 inch Apple laptop.....

I have a DSC-T1 Sony camera. I also have a Panasonic video camera with a built in digital camera. I just took some shots with the Panasonic. Plugged it in, and it worked perfectly. iphoto opened and did what it was supposed to do. I then tried the Sony and nothing happened again. Maybe this is a problem with the mac not recognizing certain cameras...?????

    Hello, Pete.
Here is an article I would recommend going through when an iPod is not recognized by iTunes or the computer.
iPod not recognized in My Computer and in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1369
Usually the resolution is updating the Apple Mobile Device Driver.  See the section labeled Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed > For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 > Update the Apple Mobile Device Driver.
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows

  • Trying to restore my Mac OS  after a hard drive failure and my password is no longer recognized, however I can log in by double clicking on the Lion Icon? How can I reset my password

I am trying to restore my Mac OS after a hard drive failure and my password is no longer recognized, however I can log in by double clicking on the Lion Icon? How can I reset my password

First, make sure caps lock is not on.
Another reason why your password might not be recognized is that the keyboard layout (input source) has been switched without your realizing it. At the login screen, you can cycle through the available layouts by pressing the key combinationcommand-space or command-option-space. See this support article.
If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then maybe the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
Otherwise*, boot into Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. In the window that opens, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window opens. Close the Terminal window to get it out of the way.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but your Keychain will be reset (empty.) If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it.
*Note: If you've activated FileVault, this procedure doesn't apply. Follow instead these instructions.

A reply to similar question (Q & As , in product page Apple Store) says:
"...dissable the internal reader hardware from devices setup. Then plug the external usb superdrive and that's it."  Answered by Enrique T from Lima Oct  25 2013.
If you can locate an external Apple USB 'Air" superdrive for earlier model MacBook Air, that should work. The newer one for the Air is the same as for iMac, now.
You may be able to use other brands of external USB optical drive with your older intel-based iMac, as some of them function capably. A few should also be able to see system discs or other bootable utilities on DVD.
    Hopefully this helps.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Hello.  I recently pieced together a late 2008 MacBook Pro 15".  Everything works fine except the battery constantly goes between "not charging" and "calculating" or, rarely "charging". It does charge after a long while and will report that it is charged.

I have reset the NVRAM and the SMC a couple of time but that didn't work so I ran an Apple Hardware Test and while testing the logic board it gives the following error:
    4SNS/1/40000000 LB1T
I've done some research and found this is a temperature sensor related to the battery, but cannot find where the sensor is located in the computer.  Would you know how I can find the sensor to test it?  Could my battery problem be related to something else?  Would a fresh install of Lion help?
    Thank you!
    Mike
Two pieces of information that may or may not b helpful, the hard drive is from my early 2008 MBP and the only test disc I have access to is from an iMac.

Why do you have LION installed on that older machine?
So you say you built a macbook from a bucket of parts eh?   Kudos
heres a pic of the battery temp sensor

Hi. It could be that the more you pile on the HD, the longer it will take to boot. When I first bought my MBP, it took maybe 30 seconds. But as I began putting more content on the HD, it seemed to take a bit longer to boot. You may also want to consider putting your MBP in sleep mode. That's what I do with mine and it doesn't hurt at all as far as I can tell.
