MBP Old Stock

Ok, I have had a 15" MBP that I returned for constant crashing and garbled screen images (that ended in a lock up). Now I did not have a problem with heat...it actually ran fairly cool. It did whine severely. I THINK mine was a week 12. I also had a Macbook that I'm returning for even louder whining (I'm not particular but when you can hear it over a ceiling fan it's pretty bad). My local campus store has the 1.83 MBP's still in stock and have a great deal on them and I was tempted to give it one more shot. They are probably week 12-14 models. I know most people on here have whining issues...because this is the place to complain, but if I buy this what do you think my chances are of getting a whiner? I'm fairly convinced that all new Mac/intel laptops whine just some notice it, some don't...but it could be just my bad experience. Anyways, again my question is...what's my chances of getting another whiner?

My main frustration, is not that my MBP has the whine---because, it's only a minor irritation to me...it's wondering if other machines don't have it. And if they don't have the whine, then why should I personally have to put up with it when others are whine-free.
I actually get irritated when I read these threads and find people saying that they don't have the whine. Because, if this is the case, Apple should be replacing the computers that exhibit the whine. Just as they have done with the screen inverter buzz. They replaced my first MBP no questions asked when my computer had that problem.
If some have it, and some don't, then it is most certainly a problem. If all the MBPs exhibit some sort of whine, then it is safe for Apple to say it is within spec, or at least "normal."

  • New MBP, old hard drive

I recently replaced my two-year-old MacBook Pro with a new one. I took the old hard drive (which was not stock -- 320 GB, 7200 rpm) out of the old machine and into the new. Ever since then, random operations result in the spinning beach ball. It can take 15-25 seconds to do simple things like scroll up a page in Safari, open an email preview in Mail, or switch applications.
I'm wondering if I've created a Frankenstein's monster, where the old hard drive doesn't know how to communicate with the new hardware? Disk Utility reports the drive is fine, so I'm thinking it might be an OS issue. I ran the 10.5.8 combo updater again, and my build went from 9L30 to 9L31a, but the slowness persists.
I'm figuring I have three options:
    - Reinstall Leopard from the original disc;
    - Put the new MBP's original hard drive in an external case, boot from that, and use File Migration to copy the files from my old internal drive; or
    - Upgrade to Snow Leopard.
Do any of these sound like they'll be effective and practical? What other solutions can you recommend?

As you stated, your problem is likely due to hardware drivers internal to the OS - your old HD and OS is using drivers not designed for the new machine.
I don't know of a miniprep type utility for OS X (in case you are not familiar with, miniprep is a Windows utility that strips machine specific drivers and other configuration info from the OS, and forces discovery and installation)
I would perform a backup, clean install the OS, then use migration assistant to move data, accounts, and programs. I would be careful with "machines settings" as that may or may not move an old driver.

  • How can I keep my old stock still running after updating to Maverick ?

OK --» I bought a wonderful Architect software, but surprise ! it works only with higher OS than 10.6.8....
I know my stuff is OLD and I'm okay to update to MAVERICK, but !! I don't want to lose my old softwares that I know by heart !
So, I was thinking : if I make a BACKUP on a large USB Key... Will I be able to start my old Photoshop CS (for example) from the key ?... or something like that...
In the past, this option worked (from a external disk) from my very old iMac... but am wondering if it still could be possible ?
And BY THE WAY : my new ARCHITECT software has been downloaded to my actual 10.6.8 (but does not start...) will it STILL BE THERE after updating???
Thankssssss a LOT for your support !
    Isabelle

You need to know that "USB Key" technology may not be appropriate for a system disk.  Check out "wear leveling" on Wikipedia for a sobering discussion of the service life of solid-state drives.  Also read "solid-state drives" (Ibid.) for a detailed comparison with hard disk technology.

    Hello imovedtomac,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
OS X: How to migrate data from another Mac using Mountain Lion and earlier
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4889
If you experience issues migrating using an Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection
Try migrating by using Internet Sharing from your source computer.
Set up a home connection from your source computer.
Choose System Preferences from the Apple () menu, then Sharing from the View menu.
    Select Internet Sharing.
Select a network service from the “Share your connection from” menu. Do not choose Wi-Fi for this step.
Note: You can use built-in FireWire or ThunderBolt for example.  You do not need to be connected to the Internet to transmit data for data migration.
Select Wi-Fi to share your Internet connection from the “To computers using” list.
Click Wi-Fi Options and give your network a name and password.
On your target computer, connect to the Wi-Fi network you created.
    Best of luck,

  • Product interchangeability not considering stock of old product

Testing Product interchangeability with Location as MRP areas
created chain with new item as succssor product and old as the presecessor with DIRECTION --->FORWARD
After Running OPTIMIZER with Both the products and all Locations , OPTIMIZER is ordering new item and not the old item even though there is huge stock on hand of the old item.
please let me know if the optimizer will select new product irrespective of the old stock on hand.

    Hi,
Product A is to be superseded by product B in location C.
There is no remaining stock of product A at location C. If demand is received for product A, the heuristic would transfer the demand to product B.
However, the optimizer checks whether there is any stock of product A in other locations of the model.
For instance, if there is still sufficient stock at location D, the optimizer checks the costs for transferring the stock of product A from location D to location C. If this is the most cost-effective solution (because storage costs at D are higher than the costs for transporting to C, for example), the optimizer plans the stock transfer from D to C. The demand for product A is then covered by the transferred stock.
Request you to check in your case whether this is the case.
Note: The optimizer does not calculate costs for interchanging products at the same location.
    Thanks,
    nandha

  • Old HHD failed, how can I install an OSx onto new drive?

My old stock HDD failed, and I had to replace it. I have time machine on an external hard drive, and am using it to communicate here. However, when I try to install an OSx (Mountain Lion) onto my new drive, it says: "Cannot install OS. Contact AppeCare." I used disk utility to make sure it says Mac OS Extended (Journaled). What can I do?

Try this:  Boot the MBP with the OPTION+COMMAND+R keys.  The display should result in a picture with a revolving globe.  If you follow the directions, this will connect you to the Apple servers.  You then will be able to install the original OSX that came with the MBP (Lion).  Do not forget to format the HDD in Disk Utility>Erase (to Mac OS Extended (Jourrnaled)) before installing the OSX.
If you had Mt. Lion on that MBP, it should be in your App Store account.  You may download it from there.
You will need a solid Internet connection.
    Ciao.

  • Has anybody had problems upgrading MBP 13inch (2010) to 8Gb RAM?

    Hi Folks,
I'm new to the Apple Support Communities.  I've searched the discussions on this issue but couldn't find something exactly the same. I installed two 4Gb, PC3-8500 DDR3-1066MHz memory sticks in my MacBook Pro 13 inch (2010 model), but it wouldn't boot up.  I then re-installed one of my old stock 2Gb sticks and the MacBook Pro booted and showed 6Gb memory under System Profiler.  The memory runs fine and I've checked the RAM using Rember and it passes all the tests.  I've had no freezes or other weird behaviour on the MBP with the 6Gb configuration but I just can't get it to boot with both 4Gb sticks installed.  Does anybody know what's going on here?
    Thanks!

I have exactly the same problem like you, just got my new 8gb (4gbx2) DDR3-1067Mhz, PC3-8500 from Vgen and I can't use both ram in my mid 2010 mackbook pro. I've checked the requirements before buying the ram with apple support and bought the ram as suggested by apple support regarding ram upgrading (I also read some posts saying that some people who upgrade the ram with 4GBx2 PC3-10600 instead of PC3-8500 had problem to boot but it boots fine if they combine 1 PC3-8500 + 1 PC3-10600). funny and wierd thing is both new ram are working fine because I tried to combine each new ram + 1 stock ram and they were installed fine, clockspeed is correct which is PC3-8500..I contacted apple store and they ask me to do the reset parameter ( Hold 'Option' + Command + P + R then boot, keep holding until you heard 'dong' sound twice and then release) but still not working either.
Then I also try to install only 1 single ram, both old stock ram were booting but both new ram won't boot...the only working method is to install 1 stock ram + 1 new ram (total only 6 GB of Ram)...this is really frustrating and it's ******* me off because I have followed instruction and bought the exact ram as required and suggested by apple and it's not working....**** it....how can thing like this happen..geez...Please somebody from apple explain this and give us solution...
Note : since bought items are not refundable so I try to call the store where I bought the new ram and had them agree to replace 1 pcs 4GB PC3-8500 ram with PC3-10600 ram and will see if it works with 2 different clockspeed Ram installed in my MBP Mid 2010 and will post the result again later after.
I'm using MBP 13" With Lion OSX 10.7.1 and 6 GB RAM (Apple, I want my other 2 GB Ram back)

  • Any stock broker/mutual fund traders using a Mac?? I need your help!

    Hi there.
I am a recent switcher and love my Mac so much I want to get a friend to switch as well.
He is stuck on Windows 98 (and all of the problems that come with it) since he is running an old stock trader client database called MarketMate. It took nearly 4 months for a summer assistant to load his client's info into the database a number of years ago and the software maker promptly went out of business.
I am aware that he could run the program on Win 98 through Parallels but he also has a live stock quote program that is being phased out on Win 98 and will only run on Win XP in a few months. I can't see (and don't want to suggest) running OS X as well as two Virtual Machines on Parallels but I really want him to be able to enjoy the elegance and stabilty of OS X.
Do any stock brokers out there know of a client database for OS X that he could somehow migrate the data to? A generic database is not sufficient as he needs to be able to tell what price and volume his clients stocks were traded for etc.
Any other advice from non brokers would be appreciated too.
    Thank you.

  • Unable to clear out the stock in SAP

    Hi Expert!
Need your help. I have an issue, my user wants to clear out the stock in SAP because they are the old stock and there's no stock in actual warehouse for those materials actually. it is just in the system taht showing those materials have stock in warehouse. but however, she's unable to clear out the stock. So when i check in the system, the materials are batch managed and still have open POs dated on 2003 which has already old.  Is it the reason why she can't clear the stock? Do i need to ask her to off the batch management for those materials, then delete the POs and then only she able to clear the stock? Please advise on the solution..
    Thanks.

    hi
do the physical inventory and adhust stock
    1) Create physical inventory doc using MI01
    2) Post the Physical Inventory stock Using MI04 ( Mark Tick if the stock is Zero)
    3) Post the doc in Using MI07
Note : Give the batch no if the material is activated the batch

  • Date when Stock is Posted in SLOC in MCHB table

    Hi Friends,
My client has all the materials as batch managed and we wanted a report from MCHB to get qty of stock in each and every stock type and SLOC but we also wanted to know "On which date that stock has been posted in the respective SLOC", I tried using :
    1. Created on Date - But it seems that reflects date on which stock was first posted but not the latest date.
    2. Last Change - Date here was kind of very close but it is showing 00-00-0000 for many records, so it also doesn't seems to be a correct date.
I know that we can get posting date related data from MB51 and other tables but I have 30,000 materials and I need other details also like SLED, Batch etc which can be fetched only from MCHB, so please let me know which filed to use (or which table) to get Date on which stock shown in MCHB has been posted.
Our main purpose is to identify stock which are lying in SLOC for a long time so that business can clear that stuff.
    Thank you very much.

GR date (Goods Receipt date) would be the date you want from table LQUA .
Use SQVI to merge tables and create a report or...
    Easier method:
Run an inv. look up on the bin level (LX03) (by storage type with no bin entered and no zero stock bins checked) and find your old stock by veiwing the TiL (Time in location) or durration.
sort so the oldest is on top and you will see the material that has been in location the longest.
hope that helps (there are MANY ways to accomplish what you want)

  • Video Output from 15in MBP

    Hi All,
I am looking for a way to output video from my 15in MBP to a ViewCast GoStream(has component and s-video inputs). Currently, the only solution I have found is the Matrox MXO, which would work, but before I go and spend a whole grand to buy it, I was wondering if there were any cheaper alternatives.
    Thanks in advance!
    Matrox MXO - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/434990-REG/MatroxMXON_MXO_External_HDand.html

    Hi -
Is your 15" MBP old enough to have an express34 card slot?
If so, take a look at the Matrox Mini, or a more ruggedized version, the Matrox LE:
    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/618347-REG/MatroxMXO2_MINIL.html
    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/650569-REG/MatroxMXO2LE_NL.html
If you have a current MBP, then your options are limited - which is why many lament the passing of the express34 card slot.
    Hope this helps

  • Will old iSight camera work with new Mac mini?

will an old isight camera work with a late 2014 Mac mini? If so what adapters will I need?

Matthewlopez wrote: will an old isight camera work with a late 2014 Mac mini?...
Yes (if the old external iSight works.)
Apple's long ago discontinued Firewire External iSights were great webcams, but they are old (as consumer electronics go) and some may have had pretty rough treatment. Even NOS (new old stock) items may have been damaged in storage or handling.
If you have access to an external iSight, you can test it using the suggestions from this page: http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/EZJim/EZJimpage4.html.  To reduce the possibility of conflicts for old Firewire iSights, I suggest you disconnect all other Firewire peripherals until you get your external iSight working with your mini. Then connect other needed items one at a time and test each to determine whether you can use any without conflict.
If you are considering buying an external iSight now, a new webcam (with warranty) may be a better choice. Many available alternatives are listed here: http://www.mac-compatible-web-cam.com/
If you want more examples of external iSight and newer minis, take a look at some of the results of this search for your question.
Matthewlopez wrote: ... If so what adapters will I need?
You will need a Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter.  This adapter offers only a Firewire 800 connection.
The Firewire connection on old external iSights is a Firewire 400 connector.  Therefore, you need some way to connect to the FW800 connector on your adapter:
    • To use the FW400 6pin-6pin cable that comes with iSight, you can use a 6pin-9pin adapter
      like one of these:

      http://tinyurl.com/cgll7o
      http://www.sonnettech.com/product/fw_adapter.html
    • This Firewire 400-800 cable can work:

    • Some report that this low-priced alternative cable works:

  • Stock Ageing Analysis

    Dear all,
We are planning to Golive by September1st,2007.Customer is having some stock pretaining to some ten years back where some are  unused in the mean period of time(say from 1995 to 2007).They want to upload that stock with the relevant dates so that to do the Dead stock analysis.Whatever we upload for cutover data will be on current date. How to address this.
    Regards,
    Milton.I

    Dear Vijay,
WE also come across similar demand from the customer for the old stock and aging.
In that casewe gave solution as follows,
    1. Capture the actual date in the Document Date ( Not Posting Date) field and keep posting date as today's date.
    2. You can analyze the material aging based on Document date either in MB51 or in other reports.
    3. If that is not sufficient, then develop Z-Report based on Document date.
    4. But one caution, This analysis is not possible with SAP standard Dead Stock or slow - Moving stock reports as those are based on Posting Date.
If this resolves your query, please close the Issue,
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Using old version of InDesign for upgrade

Hi. I have an old, never-opened retail copy of InDesign 2.0 that I bought with a new Mac some years ago. The white tape seal on the top of the jewel case is still unbroken.  I'm semi-retired and don't do any layout or graphics work, but I have one project that was created for me years ago using Indesign that I would like to be able to update myself.  I would like to be able to upgrade to a later version of InDesign, but not to the current one--probably to version 3 or 4. One reason is I think the file I will be using is in 3; the other reason is I am still running OS 10.6.8 on my Mac. Can I install this software now on my Mac?  Will its serial number work to authorize an upgrade version on installation?  What can I do?  Many thanks

Thank you, Bob.  Just finished a verrryyy lengthy chat with a nice Adobe rep, who gave me some slightly different info, and, sadly, about the same conclusion.
    I was told I can't install the ID 2.0 on anything past a G5.
I might qualify for an upgrade to CS4 (ID 6.0) but I'd need help from Adobe for the authorization. However, that supposedly runs on OS 10.4.11–10.5.4 only.
He said I can't use CS 6 because it requires OS 10.7 and up.  So I could take a chance on CS 4 and if that didn't work, give up and swear off Adobe.  (I was raised on Quark)  Or look for a later full version of Indesign -- if that was ever even offered.
As far as finding old software, I'm sitting with an unopened retail copy that's 7 years old.  If it were still usefiul, I believe it would be legal to re-sell.
I've had success buying authentic old stock software more than once.  I ask for pictures of holograms, etc.  (I'm still using Appleworks and until I couldn't run system 9, i wouldn't give up Claris Emailer).
Thanks very much for the advice!

  • AR Invoice - Stocks

    Dear Experts,
I have Item ABC bought on 1st of Jan 2010 (qty =10).
    Then i bought more on 1st of Feb 2010 (Qty = 5).
I have created a stock ageing report using Query generator, and i can view the current ageing 1-30 days = Qty 5 and 30-60days = Qty10 for item ABC.
When i process an AR Invoice for item ABC (qty=3), it is deducting the stocks from the 1-30days but it should actually deduct it from the (old stock) 30-60days.
Is there a way i can make the AR Invoice pick the (old stock) 30-60days, instead of it picking the 1-30days (current) stock.
I'm on SAP 2007 PL42, and my valuation method is moving average.
    Regards,
    Feroz Dosani

Dear Gordon and Shwu Hua Gan,
Thank you for your replies, much appreciated.
Mr. Shwu Hua Gan you are correct on how moving average is calculated, and i have read the same on previous posts, but that is not my issue here, that works perfectly.
Dear Gordon, my stock ageing query is good, as when i purchased "Item ABC bought on 1st of Jan 2010 (qty =10)." The stock Ageing report shows me the Qty 10 in the 30-60Days Column, further more, "Then i bought more on 1st of Feb 2010 (Qty = 5)" and my stock agening report shows me the Qty 5 in the 1-30Days. Which is fine for me. Something like this:-
Item Code                              Total QTY                        1-30Days Ageing                     30-60Days Ageing
    ABC                                                15                                  5                                                 10
The problem that i'm facing is when i do an A/R Invoice ( Date = 4thFeb,2010, Item ABC qty =3) , SAP picks the 1-30 Days stock and reduces that, and my stock ageing show me the ageing as below:
Item Code                              Total QTY                        1-30Days Ageing                     30-60Days Ageing
    ABC                                                12                                  2                                                 10
But i want it to reduce the 30-60days stocks, so when i run the stock ageing report after processing the AR Invoice  it should show me 1-30 Qty = 5 and 30-60 Qty=5 (reduced from 10 to 5), like below:-
Item Code                              Total QTY                        1-30Days Ageing                     30-60Days Ageing
    ABC                                                12                                  5                                                 8
Gordon, Please find the query at the end of this message.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Feroz Dosani.
