MBP Retina screen keeps flickering.

I read that running this and changing some permissions would fix the flickering problem. I am now stuck. There are required tags not present. Where would i be able to find these and fix this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It's a MBP Retina, Mid 2012, OS X Mavericks

This is called ghosting. Search the forum and you will see others have experienced the same problem with the LG displays.

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $199 for 64 GB 4G and $99 for the other 4Gs. They do not fix yours.

  • My Macbook Pro with Retina display screen keeps flickering a ghost screen.

My Macbook is a year and a half old, and has never been dropped or damaged.  A few months ago, the screen started flickering.  Not like off and on, but a ghost screen would flicker on top of what I was doing.  It is usually the same window that I have present, but just like half of it for a millisecond.  It is very annoying and is unpredictable.  It usually happens for hours every few seconds.  What should I do to fix this?  I try to take a screen shot to post but it either happens too fast or is not possible to record.

  • MackBookPro '15 Retina - screen is flickering

Hi, all. I bought my MBP Retina about a year ago, everything was ok, but recently i faced with frustrating thing - screen is flickering.
I have managed to get some screenshots, which obviously says that it is not a hardware issue.
Has anyone ever had the same simptoms? Should i bring my device to apple tech support?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
It's a hardware issue, but as the problem appears in screenshots, the problem isn't the display but the GPU. Hold the Shift key while your Mac is starting to start in safe mode and see if your Mac does the same.
If so, take the Mac to an Apple Store or reseller because it looks like the GPU is damaged

  • MBP retina screen flicker black?

Hello, after doing so much research and feels like getting no answer I decided to post on this forum, I hope I will get any answer
so I own a new MBP retina 15", it just came last week and I just start really using it yesterday. When I was working with photoshop i notice sometimes random black flicker will just flashes out in a milisecond. It doesnt happen only once but numerous times, a restart doesn't fix it.
Sadly I can't provide any screenshot here because it just randomly happen & gone so fast.
Anyone knows why and how to fix it? I'm pretty sad to find this problem in a really newly bought product

thank you for the reply, CT.
my flickering is not as bad as the one on the video, but still it annoys me because it's something like black long bar flashing.
so.. looks like this issue is going to be (maybe) fixed by bringing it to the store....?

  • My 15" MBP Retina screen has strange lines

    Hi,
So I just noticed that my 4 month old 15" MBP Retina has this strange thin white line and another white mark that's sort of like a bigger 'cluster'. I'm not sure how long it's been there, I thought the screen was just smudged and I was watching a movie, and I began to think hold on, this is in every scene, maybe it's the movie. So I turned the movie off and realised it was there for good.
I'm really bad at noticing these things but now I've noticed it I can't not see it and it is bugging me and I'm wondering how long it's been there for. I've read that the MBP Retina has a little bit of an issue with dead pixels, and i'm wondering if this is the case. Has anyone had experiences with taking it into Apple? I am really frustrated and hope that they fix it because I paid 2 and a half grand for this computer and I shouldn't have to put up with it!
I took a screenshot but it didn't seem to capture it (which makes me wonder if it's dead pixel issues of not) so here's a photo I took with my iPhone.

actually I want to add that I tried my nexus 5 too, and its the same issue, it turns the macbook off , not the screen,
you can try it. there are a spot on the left side below the speaker line, next to fn key.

  • MBP Retina screen, shows facebook faded even after closed

I'm experiencing something a bit odd on retina screen of my MBP 15".
When i stay on facebook homepage for like 10-15 seconds then close it. Then switch to a greyish application, i can definitely see; search box, friend list on right etc. faded on greyish application.
After a minute or so, it totally disappears... I tried to capture its screenshot but it wasnt same on screenshot. So obviously it is hardware-related, not something specifically designed.
    Is this normal?
EDIT: I tried it with other "too white pages" but it didnt result same or it wasnt obvious enough.

  • My I phone 4 screen keeps flickering

MY I phone 4 screen is flickering and I can not get it to stop?

    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
No data is lost due to a reset.

  • Mbp retina screen, what is the sdxc maxium capacity?

MacBook pro 2012 Model, OSX 10.7.5,  with retina screen, What is the sdxc cardns slot maxium capacity?
Will it work with a 128gb sdxc card?
Thanks, in advance for your help!

    Hello wjgiunta
The card should work, just check and know the limitations if the SDXC card is formatted with a different file format. You also have to the option to change that format using Disk Utility.

  • Mbp retina screen pixelated my older programs. Is there a fix?

How can u fix the display issue the retina screen poses onto older programs such as cs5 and Microsoft office ?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
That's because those applications aren't ready for Retina resolutions. In your case, the only way to make those applications work correctly is to upgrade those applications (the most recent CS and Office 2011 supports Retina), or open System Preferences > Displays, and select a smaller resolution

  • Toshiba L770D-ST4N01 Screen Keeps Flickering

My laptop keeps on flickering and then eventually goes to a comeplete black screen forcing me to reboot the laptop. I taught I fixed ii the another day but now I am see the issue again. There;s no flicker when I use an HDMI and put it to a tv. I am on windows 8.1. I think 8.1 doewn't have the right driver for this computer and that's what might be the problem. Anyone out there that knows anything?

Sorry you didn't get a response yet. Sometimes it can take a couple days for someone in the community to have an answer. In addition, by replying to your message, it was no longer considered to have zero replies, so it doesn't escalate to me.

  • MBP Retina Screen Replacement

    Hello,
I have the first gen MBPR with an LG screen. The flickering and imagine retention didn't bother me much until now (1 year later). The image retention and flickering have gotten substantially worse. Quite a disappointment as my cMBP worked amazing.
How long would it take for Apple to repair it? I live in the rural area and accessing an Apple Store would take a 2 hour drive (4 hours total there and back).
Do they repair it in store or do they ship it off to a depot? I did searches and got mixed results regarding specifically the retina. I know that the cMBP is much easier to do.
    Any help is appreciated.

Apple repairs the Macs at the Apple Store. Repairs take between the same day and a week, depending on the amount of Macs they have to repair and the availability of the part your MacBook Pro needs.
If your MacBook isn't in warranty, this may be an expensive repair, as the Retina display is expensive, so you should have taken it during the first year of warranty. Then, note that Samsung displays are the ones that give less problems, so if you want, you can ask the Genius to install a Samsung display

  • Why does my retina display keep flickering after I get it fixed?

Since I bought my Macbook Pro 2012 in July 16 GB the display has been flickering every once and a while. Sometimes it gets so bad that you can't even see the screen. All it does it redraw the video over and so fast to make the screen appear to flicker. They have already had it at the Apple store twice. The first time they could not reproduce the problem, the second time they claimed they replaced the logic board. It has started to flicker 2 weeks after I got it repaired. I need help!!

Simply put, you have a defective MBPR, and need a repair. I would contact Apple Care and explain the situation and be like, "Its been in twice, with the logic board being replaced," They will guide you through what needs to be done.
