MBP started making a cracking sound

My MacBook Pro 2010 started making a "crack" sound every 10 seconds or so... Like when you connect an audio device, it stops when the volume is off or when the speakers are being used.
In my opinion something is failing on the motherboard, such as a solded connection which is weared out or something...
If anyone has had this problem, please leave a comment ^^ Ill take my Mac to the Apple Store next Monday.
Thank you!

Hi,
Please check if the External works fine ? if no this is not really a speaker issue. if yes, it could be faulty speaker or the loose cable etc...
if you wish to open the PC, you may follow steps to download manual and follow removal and rexifing procedure.
Please visit www.hp.com/in and select suport & drivers>Product support and Troubleshooting> type the the complete model of your PC such as dv6-6102tx dv6-3145tx etc... select your computer model (if listed), or select the CTO(such as dv6-6100 CTO) model(which works for whole series) now select the manuals. you have the list of manuals for your PC. download maintenance and service guide.
hope it helps, Good Luck !!!

WW

My ipod classic has started making a mewling sound and all it does is scroll through the songs.  It does not play on my Bose sound dock or through earbuds.  It will play when connected to the computer...but that makes it hard to take it on a walk with me   I thought it might be a synching problem so tried that--still doesn't work.  How do I fix this problem with out restoring it to the factory setting?  I do not want to lose all my music content as some of it I cannot replace easily.  Please help with suggestions and advice. Have you recharge your iPod for at least 2 hours, preferably till the Full charge Battery symbol comes ON.?

  • Lumia 920 starting making a disconnect sound?

This didn't happen at first, but lately when I take my phone off the charger, it makes a disconnect sound. I don't mind, I just want to be sure my phone is okay. Anyone else experiencing this?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I've noticed the same. I know it means it's disconnected but I don't recall hearing the indicator tone in the first couple of weeks of using the phone.
Also a couple of days ago, I sent some MMS messages with pictures. Seems there's a tone to show when they're sent. (And not when you press 'Send') Interesting?

  • My hd is making cracking sounds and a lour roaring  HELP!

my hd has always been a noisy one.. a little while ago it started making the roaring sounds every now and then... does this mean that the HD will probably die on me in a little bit or is this a harmless problem with the HD

Well, you would most certainly not want to rely on the drive for anything critical! I would clone the drive to another ASAP. It may not mean anything but I for one would not want to take a chance. You do not mention how old this drive is but no drive should make "roaring sounds".

  • Macbook lid cracking sound

I bought my brand new macbook on saturday and it has been making a cracking sound when opening the lid, sometimes really loud and sometimes quietly. Every time i open the lid i can feel the lid catching on something but can't see anything catching. When looking at the macbook the hinge seems to be further over to the right than the left.
Is this normal or is there any way to fix it or should i just take it back?
    Thanks

It is not normal and it is rare. Take it back.

  • Why is my ipod making a clicking sound?

All-of-a-sudden my ipod stopped working. It will not charge or reset. When I plug it into the wall or computer it starts
making this clicking sound. It has shown the sadpod icon and the ! with a file. As well it shows the icon for when the battery is completly discharged. I tried charging it for hours, but it just keeps on ticking. I've not found help on the support site that has worked. I've tried hitting it, but that hasn't worked either. What should i do? It was purchased oct. 05.

If you have tried the support help and nothing has worked, then you should take advantage of your warranty and send it for service.
    Service request.
However, if you tried "hitting it" who knows what extra damage you caused? The iPod is a fragile device, and using force on an iPod that's still under warranty is, in my humble opinion, not very clever.
Because of this, Apple may refuse to repair it.

  • DTT2500 Digital started "popping" and fading sound in/out

    Greetings,
I have a Desktop Theater 5.1 DTT2500 hooked to a Creative Live! card. About a month ago, after working fine for a year, the speakers start making a popping sound. The pop/click happens every 5 seconds, and the sound (eg music) fades in/out. The speaker test does not work; it hangs on one of the 5 speakers as its cycling through the test. Powering on/off does not help.
There does not seem to be anything wrong with the speakers; it seems to be the control unit - is this a common problem with the control unit's
    Thanks, Geoff.

I have a DTT3500, and have had almost the same experience. It was working fine for a year or two, connected to our DVD player for input and serving as a sound system for our TV. Then it started making popping/clicking noises, and occasionally playing the input sound. Now it doesn't even play the input sound. However, the "test" works great, and we get the white-noise sound test on all 5. speakers.
I called Creative Tech Support, but we were not able to resolve the problem. I am wondering whether this can be fixed, or should I just dump the whole system in the trash can. Or can I just replace the control unit's
Would be grateful for any help or suggestions.
    Thanks,
    David

  • Media bay fan in Powermac G5 making a clicking sound.

Yesterday the media bay fan in my Powermac G5 tower started making a clicking sound.  It looks like I can buy a new one online pretty cheap but from what I've seen from some tutorials it is going to be a real B**** to install.  I have to take apart the whole case just to get at it.  Does anyone have any other suggestions or work arounds?  I have taken apart other Macs before but I don't know if this is worth the trouble!

Hi, I see no easy way to do it...

  • MBP has just started intermittently started making sound effects noises.

My MBP has started making random sounds. Its one of the OS X sound effects - I most commonly hear it when there is an error or my battery is about to run out...
I thought it might be a random app running in the background , so I rebooted and it was still there.
I'm running Snow Leopard. My battery is due replacement - being 3 years old. but apart from that everything appears normal.
There are no visual warnings so I'm at a loss to know where to start to solve it.
    Anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks.

Did you check with Activity Monitor to find possible applications in background?
You can find Activity Monitor your applications folder, under utilities, or by searching spotlight for "Activity Monitor."
Generally, anything with an icon next to it is an application.

  • When I started up my macbook Pro after a boat trip (just lying in my bag the whole time) it started making weird sounds. Why does it do that and how do I stop it?

When I started up my macbook Pro after a boat trip (just lying in my bag the whole time) it started making weird sounds. Why does it do that and how do I stop it?

The 13" retina MBP has two fans, left and right near the hinge and about 2.5" each from the edges of the case.
My conjecture is that one of the fans may be failing.  An appointment at an Apple store genius bar is the best option.  The evaluation will be FREE and a fan replacement (if that is the problem) should not break the bank account.
You might run an Apple Hardware Test:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11342
This may confirm my suspicion or perhaps find a different problem. Note that an error free result should not be viewed as being definitive.
    Ciao.

  • My iphone 4 started making a sound like "boing" with a vibration/ wobbly sound.  It does it at least once a day.  I've reset my phone, used icloud to restore, and it made the sound again upon startup.  Help!  This is so annoying.

My iphone 4 started making a sound like a "boing" with a vibration/ wobbly sound.  It does this at least once a day.  It started about a month ago.  Anyone got any ideas?

Mine does this also, seemingly randomly several times throughout the day.  I do not have this sound as any of my alerts and it does not seem to denote anything like a message, reminder, etc.  I do have "Trapster" on my phone and I went in and tweaked the settings there.  Will repost if that has any efect.

  • Loud "crack" sound from 2006 MBP, now will not charge from Magsafe PS

While using my 2006 MBP 2.33 C2D , there was a sudden loud "crack" / "pop" sound. I then noticed that the green charging light on the magsafe power adaptor had gone out. So i checked the mains socket, and everything there was OK. I then tried plugging the Magasfe adaptor into different power sockets, and still nothing.
I also tried the MBP with a spare magsafe adaptor i have, and that also fails to light the green light on the side to show any charge/power.
At the moment the MBP still works but is running off whats left on the battery charge.
So i'm guessing the "crack" sound I heard was some interal fusein the MBP  blowing?
Any ideas? Could it be serious and an easy fix?  In the past I have changed the HD, optical drive etc so am fairly ok at a bit of DIY on the MBP.

With the light on the Magsafe charger being out, I tend to suspect it rather then the MBP.
You might take the Magsafe charger to the Apple Store and see if they can test it for you. If it is bad, buy a new one. If not, then it would have to be the MBP.

  • New MBP making occasional crackling sounds

Hi, my new 13" MBP which is less than a month old seems to be making some crackling sounds from time to time. Since there is no hard disk with moving parts (it has a solid state disk), the only thing I could think of that would explain why it makes this sound is if there is some type of electrical problem. I haven't had any kernel panics yet (or noticed other usability issues), but I am wondering whether there is an underlying electrical problem that should be dealt with before it results in an expensive repair like a new logic board. The battery doesn't seem to be an issue as it charges completely and usually gives a good runtime. The only exception to a good runtime is when I am compiling code. About fifteen minutes of time spent compiling code exhausts about an hour of normal runtime doing other things. Does anyone know if the crackling sound is typical or if I should be concerned about it? I have read some other forums and seen mixed views on this issue.

lol .. no when the machine is in sleep the sms is also in sleep BUT I will discourage you to put the computer to sleep in an enclosure .. a friend of mine's melted that way .. maybe it wasn't a sleep when he put it in or maybe it woke up for a bizarre reason . a working machine without proper ventilation can become deadly .. so if I were you I would use the machine in sleep mode only for short time naps and as for going around in a bag I'd prefer shutting it down.. it also saves much more energy on the battery that way
