MBP will not turn on but the power indicator light does
I have read 40 pages of discussion, tried all of the boot up key combinations that are listed on the apple support website, and tried the online chat, but it only covers imac and ipod at this time. Have been an apple fan for 15 years, and currently own three plus the 23" display for this 15"MBP, but I am nearly the end of my patience. I did get it to boot up a couple of times by resetting the PRAM but the reinstall disc is now in the computer (never got a chance to use it because it shut down while I was out of the room) and I can neither get it out or start up with the disc. Battery is fully charged. I just want to do my work. Any help? or should I just try to return it?
Do you have an external (bootable) drive, or even an installation disc that you can try to boot from - would at least let you know if the drive is okay, and you could remove the problematic program. If you can do this, also try repairing the permissions of the internal hard drive (use Disk Utility) - sometimes it will help to sort out some stuff.
Even before that, try starting up and "zap the pram" - immediately after the startup chime, hold this key combination - Apple-key + Option-key + P-key + R-key - in that order - hold it down until you force the computer to restart three or four times (ie you'll hear the startup chime three or four times and see the screen flash the same number of times) - release the keys and let the computer try to start up normally. You'd be surprised how many times this will clear up a problem - I still am and I've been doing since 1999.

First, what is the model or product number of your pc?
Next, what exactly happens?
Turn off your computer and your monitor.
Disconnect the power cord from the pc and from the wall outlet.
Disconnect any external devices other than the monitor, keyboard and mouse. Disconnect any printers, cameras, external hard drives, etc.
Hold in the power button and count to 10. (yes, with no power)
Plug in the power cord directly into a wall outlet and into the pc.
Turn on the computer.
Turn on the monitor.
What happens?
Do we have blue lights on the power buttons for the pc and monitor?
Do any other lights come on?
Do you hear any sounds?
Does anything come on the monitor?
Does the monitor display any message?
On the back of the computer there should be a small light near the power cord - is it on?
Also, how is the monitor connected to the pc? VGA cable with blue ends, DVI with white ends, HDMI?

My iPod 4th generation will not turn on but the backlight is still glowing.
Last night my iPod had been acting up like crashing and not loading apps. I turned it off and then tried to turn it on but it woudn't. The backlight still glows. Any held would be appreciated. :]

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

my iphone 4 will not turn on but when connected to the pc in itunes it says my device is in recovery mode and when i do SHIFT restore and select my ipsw it extracts then this 3914 error message appears. i normal restore then it this error message appears 1601. and my iphone is in RECOVERY mode. and holding the power button and the home button doesnt do anything my latops just makes a ding sound after 6seconds. MBP Screen will not turn on unless the backplate is off.
Started noticing that the screen on boot would remain black. Don't have warranty and figured it was a pinched flex cable or something. Took of the back plate and realized the screen worked just fine when I tried turning it on. There is a minor dent on the back plate, could this be the issue? Would minute pressure on the logic board cause this problem?
Everything looks in good working order and all the optical cables are in tact. Not sure what I should do. I can't afford a repair especially if it's a faulty logic board.
Why would the screen only turn on with the backplate off?Our school has about 30 MacBook Pro's and this is the case with all of them. If your battery is 100% drained, the MBP will not start up until the battery is about 10%. This is probably some sort of a safety feature or something.. i don't believe it is a hardware problem. I have never drained my MBP battery that low to know what happens but my guess is everything is okay.

Satellite M100 will not turn on unless the AC adapter is pluged in
I also am having the same problem with my Satellite M100. The computer will not turn on unless the AC adapter is pluged in and switched on at the power socket.
Any ideas as to how to fix this problem? The battery should be fine.

Well, if you are 100% sure that this is not a battery issue, then it must be something working with power supply electronic on the motherboard.
This would mean that this is a hardware problem which cannot be fixed easily but in most cases the faulty part must be replaced.
But at first the notebook should be checked with new battery even the battery can be charged properly, it could be a battery issue too
But these are only suggestions and if you want be 100% sure what part is affected then you should get in contact with an notebook technician in order to run some diagnostic tests... -

Has the home button worked in the past, or is this been something that hasn't worked for some time? The only way to reset the device is with the sleep/wake (power) and home buttons together. Without it, you would have to wait until the battery dies and then plug it in to try and reset it. The Home button is used for several user troubleshooting steps. Without it, you cannot perform a reset, put the device into recovery mode, or place it in DFU mode. You need to get the home button repaired.

Sammyhunter lets get you back in action! Has there been any physical/water damage to the device? Try pressing and holding the home and power button together. Once the Apple symbol appears release both buttons. Keep us posted!

My iPhone 4s is stuck on a black screen that shows a USB cable connecting to iTunes. The phone will not turn on and the iTunes logo as I described only shows up when I plug the phone into the charger or my computer. I have tried the reset in restore mode as well as the DFU? mode and it still will not work. I have the latest version of iTunes on my Mac. My error code was 2002. I also tried it on my laptop (windows 8.1) and none of the above worked. My error code on my laptop was 02. The phone is through Verizon and it has absolutely no damage. It was working fine up until this and I have been trying to fix it for 2 days. Please help! I am unsure of what version the phone was currently running on before this because I have another iphone that's my primary phone and have not used this one in about a month. I do not believe it was updated to IOS 7.
Your iPhone is in recoverty mode at the moment so to possibly get it back up and running you would need to do a restore as you have been trying. Follow the steps in the article below for the specific error messages you have been receiving. If after following all steps the issue remains book an appointment at a local Apple Retail Store to have the iPhone evaluated.
