MBP won't start from Disk Warrior CD and now won't restart at all.

I tried starting my MBP from DW CD and I keep getting screen with Terminal type font and a message that says I need to restart my computer. When I restart I get the same screen over and over. (Now typing on iPhone so bare with me!)

What you will need to do is restore your OS.

Follow the instructions on this page. If you need someone to help you walk through it just let me know. This process will bypass your computer trying to boot on the Operating System and will boot on a recovery partition. And from here you can try to see whats going on. You might try and go through disk utility and verify disk and see if it can locate the problem. If there is click repair and hopefully it will do the trick.
Hope this helps!

  • My start up disk is full, and now my MacBook pro won't do anything. What do I do now?

I Am trying to move photos to my external but finder won't even open.

You have a corrupted directory which is not recoverable. You will need to erase the drive and reinstall OS X.
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. After you finish Setup Assistant will complete the installation after which
you will be running a fresh install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process
by opening Software Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your
             installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1. From here you can re-download and install Lion from your Purchases page on the App Store.

Try starting up with your Snow Leopard DVD and see if the disk can be repaired. Once you are at the installer screen go to the Utilities Menu and choose Disk Utility and choose repair disk. You might also want to try Diskwarrior.

  • I am having problems gettting my mail to work ... Mac telling me that my start up disk id full and to delete some files to free up space ... have done this but when i open mail from the dock it just brings up the colour wheel and nothing happening

I am having problems gettting my mail to work ... Mac telling me that my start up disk id full and to delete some files to free up space ... have done this but when i open mail from the dock it just brings up the colour wheel and nothing happening ... it shows when you right click on the mail icon that " application not responding"

If your hard drive is getting full, you need to free up, at least, 20 GBs of space on your iMac's hard drive.
If your Mac is running a fairly recent version of OS X, here are some general guidelines.
Follow some of my tips for cleaning out, deleting and archiving data from your Mac's internal hard drive.
Have you emptied your iMac's Trash icon in the Dock?
If you use iPhoto, iPhoto has its own trash that needs to be emptied, also.
If you use Apple Mail app, Apple Mail also has its own trash area that needs to be emptied, too!
Other things you can do to gain space.
Delete any old or no longer needed emails and/or archive to disc, flash drives or external hard drive, older emails you want to save.
Look through your Documents folder and delete any type of old useless type files like "Read Me" type files.
Again, archive to disc, flash drives, ext. hard drives or delete any old documents you no longer use or immediately need.
Download an app called OnyX for your version of OS X.
When you install and launch it, let it run the automatic ans S.M,A.R.T. tests,  then go to the cleaning and maintenance tabs and run the tabs that have the ability to clean out all web browser cache files, web browser histories, system cache files, delete old error log files.
Typically, iTunes and iPhoto libraries are the biggest users of HD space.
move these files/data off of your internal drive to the external hard drive and deleted off of the internal hard drive.
If you have any other large folders of personal data or projects, these should be archived or moved, also, to the optical discs, flash drives or external hard drive and then either archived to disc and/or deleted off your internal hard drive.
    Good Luck!

Started to upgrade from Lion got interrupted and now it won't download

    Hello webejamn,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing when trying to download and install OS X Mavericks.  It sounds like the download from the Mac App Store for OS X Mavericks was interrupted and didn't complete.
I recommend the following step when an Mac App Store download is interrupted:
If downloading an app is interrupted
Once an Internet connection is reestablished, your purchased downloads should automatically restart. The Mac App Store may alert you that there was an issue with the download and ask if you'd like to restart the download(s). Confirming will restart all pending downloads. For more information on this topic, see Mac App Store: How to resume interrupted downloads.
Note: The download time will vary according to the file's size and your Internet connection speed. Refer to this article about iTunes Store purchases for more information about download times for large files.

  • I got my phone fixed from a third party and now my phone won't even come on and my screen turns blue and starts all over again. Is there a way I can get it fixed

BBroken screen got fixed from a third party and now the apple sign shows for about 25 seconds and then it turns blue and starts all the way over

The problems go deeper than the screen...the person who did the repairs has not made all of the connections correctly.  The iPhone needs to be opened again, and then reconnect the new screen and be sure all other connections are still in place where they should be.

  • HT1492 Start-up disk is full and can't go past the blue screen; can't delete read-only files on single-user mode. Please help.

I have had my Mac mini for about 6 years and I guess it had enough of me (haha), so the start-up disk got full and it shut down before I could empty files on my drive. Unfortunately, all these years I hadn't backed up anything and now I can't access anything since it won't boot past the apple logo (and the blue screen for that matter). I have tried rebooting (holding shift as the mac mini loads), but that didn't help since the start-up disk will still be full and stuck on the blue screen. I am now trying the single-user mode (holding command key+s), and I tried to delete files in the trash bin but all of the files are read-only and access is denied! so I basically can't delete anything on the mac mini (it says "Root device is mounted read-only"). So the key here is to change the permissions but I don't know how to exactly do that. Can someone help me figure this out? (and type the command in the unix language please!!) [ Note: We have two users on this mac mini if that helps.]

    Run the following command:
    mount -uw /
    This isn't a permissions issue.

  • I dropped my iphone (not from a great height) and now it won't turn on however when I plug it in the white apple shows on my screen. My lock button has been broken for awhile so I can't even try switch it on!

What can I do? I dropped my iphone (not from a great height) and now it won't turn on however when I plug it in the white apple shows on my screen. My lock button has been broken for awhile so I can't even try switch it on!

Once you have a proven, working Charger... Charge the Device for a couple of hours. Then try to turn it on.
    If no joy...
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    If the issue persists...
Then a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is the Next Step...
Be sure to make an appointment first...

What matters is the version of iPhoto you have on the different machines. Can you tell us what they are, and what exact error message you get.

  • ITunes 11 previously imported a video file, which I loaded on to my iPod Nano, but I removed the file from the iTunes library and now it won't (re-)import the same video. Any thoughts on why not?

iTunes 11 previously imported a video file, which I loaded on to my iPod Nano, but I removed the file from the iTunes library and now it won't (re-)import the same video.
I'm using 2 PCs, each with video files (.MP4) on their respective hard drives, and also one external drive with other video files on that I move between the two devices.
iTunes on one PC will (sometimes!) let me add video content from the external hard drive, which is clearly iTunes-compatible, because I can then copy it over to my iPod Nano. On the other PC, I couldn't load that same video from the external hard drive. But if I copied that same video on to the PC's internal hard drive first, then iTunes would let me import it. That was yesterday - now iTunes is refusing to load any files from the internal or external hard drive(s).
    Any thoughts or suggestions, please?

So I tried copying the files from the external hard drive to a USB drive. I could import the video files from the USB drive!
So then I tried importing the same files on to my PC's internal hard drive again. I could import the video files from the internal hard drive!
So then I tried to import the very same files that failed to load on the very same PC previously. I could now import them!
I still can't import from the external hard drive directly, though.
I really don't think I like the process of importing things into iTunes very much... any suggestions on what's causing any of this behaviour would be very interesting.
