Mbuf address out of range problem - worth downgrading?

I've been getting kernel panics since the 10.4.7 update. The general opinion seems to be that they're Airport driver related. Has anyone tried dropping back to 10.4.6 and if so did they have any success?
The panics log like this:
panic(cpu 0 caller 0x00351703): mbuf address out of range 0x10e48000
Which is consistent with what other people are seeing?
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I tried that and still got an "mbuf address out of range" error as follows..
Sat Jul 15 12:52:24 2006
panic(cpu 0 caller 0x003500DC): mbuf address out of range 0x2fcd8000

  • Out of Range problem

I have a G5 dual 2.3 with a Sony monitor (analog) connected to the DVI port by the converter that came with the Mac. I have a problem in that certain games set the default resolution to a setting that is out of range of the monitor. Specifically, the refresh rate is out of range for it. This same problem occurs with any VGA monitor I use. Is there any way around this? I just bought the Cars game for my kids, for example, and I can't use it (Cars does not have a windowed mode).
    Thanks

As it turns out, I tried switchresX and I can force the game not to change the settings. It works, but it seems silly for me to spend an extra 17.00 to play a $29 game. Anyone know of a free utility that does the same thing?

  • Monitor out of range problem

as a wild guess, some monitors come with software drivers that allow to get more options for setting parameters.
you can check Sony site for any drivers for your monitor model, and also check what video card you have in G5 and check on card manufacturer site for driver updates for Mac OS.

    Hi,
you have to change the resolution at you ps3, not in the monitor's menu.

  • Parallel Port address out of range for output.vi

    Hi all,
I know people have had this question before, but I don't seem to follow the responses.
Basically, I have a Parallel Port connected through a PCI slot with the address BCC8, and I've been trying to talk to a stepper motor using output.vi, but as far as I can tell the address input is limited to I16 values.  Is there away to get around this?
    Hann

    Hi Hann,
What forum postings have you been researching before posting? We need more information about your application, perhaps posting your code would be helping in resolving your issue. Are you using a particular LabVIEW toolkit like the LabVIEW Motion Control Tools or are you using VISA Read and Write functions?Where are you getting the output.vi? What version of LabVIEW are you using.

  • I have an alm Tiway host cmd error response 0002: address out of range

Some of the i/o points do not display either as alias or as native memebers.

    Hello,
Thank you for contacting National Instruments
Im not completely clear on your issue. Here are a few questions that should help me answer your questions better:
    1) What version of Lookout are you using?
    2) Are you using the Lookout Tiway object? If not, what Lookout object are you using?
    3) How are you receiving this error message? Is this being received from the Alarms Window?
    4) Has this communication with your Tiway ever worked? If so, what has changed since stopped working?
    5) Can you give me more information on the way you are connecting and communicating to the Tiway? Also, can you tell me what model of PLC you are using?
    6) What data members are not reading correctly from the Tiway object? Which data members, if any, are reading correctly?
I have included a link to a Knowledgebase article which may help out in diagnosing the communications from the Tiway object:
How Do I Create a Communication Diagnostic File for the Lookout Tiway Object?
I hope this helps. Please let me know the answers to the above questions.

  • Mac mini 2014 mDP out of range

    Hi,
I have a strange issue with Mac mini late 2014 and NEC PA272W monitor. Mac mini and the monitor are connected by high quality mini display port cable.
Sometimes on boot the display is reporting: Out of range message H 14,6KHz. Its a sync problem?
Then I have to turn off and on the monitor to restore image.
    Any advice to this?

Sadly, this "out of range" problem has re-appeared today :-/

  • Importing 59.94 fps  - edl from Premiere CC  - error - Frame index out of range

    I have a Adobe Premiere project with a 5k 59.94 sequence.
The sequence has two R3d 5K clips both interpreted at 59.94.
I've exported an edl for the sequence and want to import it into SpeedGrade.
I have adjusted my preferences in SpeedGrade for 59.94.
    - playback at 59.94
    - base frame rate is set at 59.94, with "both edits and footage have the current base FPS as set above or in the EDL itself"
I import the EDL and the reels are not loaded. I select "Load from desktop", and the reels still do not load.
I deselect "don't replace loaded reels" and manually drag the two clips and replace the two reels.
I can now see the clips in the timeline, but have an error message in my display - "Frame index out of range".
I'm guessing this could also a be a Premiere CC export problem, but not sure. The sequence is just cuts, no audio.
    Here's the edl info:

Trying to nail down a workflow for 4k 60p, and not feeling very encouraged.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

I've had a similar frame-out-of-range problem for the last week or so in Sg ... import an edl, and even if I've already set the "base" in Prefs, and for that project BEFORE re-loading the reels, I ALWAYS get the f-o-o-r screen instead of my footage. After going back and forth setting those things to the same thing again and maybe again, I'll finally get where it all loads & runs. Save the project.
Come back by opening it again later ... and GET THAT DAMN FRAME-OUT-OF-RANGE thing again and have to ... again ... spend 10-15 minutes setting and re-setting all those same DAMN things until it finally decides to accept my footage.
I've only ... in the last two weeks ... TWICE opened a project I'd previously had working and graded on ... that simply loaded. Every other time I've had to waste time re-setting/re-setting/re-setting/close-open-re-set/re-setting & etc. until it finally works.
No help from anyone about why this is now happening, how to stop it, or fix it quickly. Damn dumb behavior.

  • External Display Problem - Frequency out of range with lid closed

I have read this - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86286 - it should work, but it does not.
I have a black macbook, an apple usb keyboard, a usb mouse and a19" gateway lcd display (max resolution 1440x900). Everything used to work great. Now for some reason no matter what resolution & mhz I set the external display and the macbook to it will not work with the lid closed, I can set bot to the lowest settings (640 x 480) and when I close the lid and wake the mac the message on the external display says "Frequency out of range." I will work fin in either mirror or extended mode with the lid open. Any suggestions? I've tried resetting the pram already and run the disk repair on the start up disk.

I never did figure it out - but the problem has been solved..
I did tried to trash a bunch of preference files - no joy.
I fixed it the old fashioned way - I installed a fresh system (don't waste your time with an archive and install - it just imported the corrupt files). Works fine now..

  • BIP Desktop Install Problem:  Run-time error '9' Subscript out of range

    Hi All,
I am trying to get my BIP Desktop to work. I have notice previous threads regarding the internet explorer security patches affecting BIP Desktop and my problem is similar. Here is my problem:
    1. I installed BIP Desktop 5.7.146.
    2. I start Template Builder for Word Language by selecting Start>Programs>Oracle BI Publisher Desktop.
    3. A dialog box prompts for UI Language and I select English
In the midst of the Template Builder for Word Language attempting to initiate/change the user interface language to English, it throws the following error:
Run-time error '9' Subscript out of range
Here are some details regarding my PC:
    XP sp2, MSXML6, jre1.5.0_15
Also, my CPU performance hits it maximum while I am doing this
Any thoughts on how to correct this?
    Thanks,
    Patrick

    Patrick,
Were you able to find a solution to this problem?
One of my colleagues is having the same issue.
    Regards,

  • Has anyone else had this problem Viewsonic 19" VA912b "Out of Range"

I bought 2 new Viewsonic VA912b 19" flat panel monitors and found that when I tried to boot the computer from a CD (both a G4 and G5) running OX10.3.9, the screen would go black then display the message "out of range" then go totally black. The only way to restart was by holding in the button on the computer. I called Viewsonic twice and each time they said they had never heard of such a thing and suggested I try the screens on a Windows machine. That made no sense to me.
Has anyone else had this problem and has anyone found a workaround?
I really like the screen, but want to be able to repair permission and optimize the harddrive from time to time.

You should still be able to boot into the Open Firmware screen
    command + option + o + f
make any changes necessary to screen geometry using onscreen tools to get it centered etc.
    and then, type:
    reset-nvram
    set-defaults
    reset-all
I would then, on the reboot which will occur, boot into single user mode, and run "fsck -fy" on the drive - anytime you do a hard reset reboot you very likely will result in corrupt directory and filesystem.
Applejack would be nice to dump cache folders, swap files, check for corrupt or damaged prefs. And you probably do want/need to delete any .plist the deals with displays.
Might also want to rerun the combo updater (10.4.6) as well.
I have G90f-2 and VE800 and really like both. The G90 can run up to 1600x1200 @ 85Hz? and almost everything below that resolution. The VE is a nice 18" LCD too.

  • Xen Kernel randomly fails to load and goes out of range

Been having an on/off issue lately that requires a hard reset of my system.  Essentially what happens is the system begins to load when my monitor reports an error that the signal is out of range.  I try to pretend login and reboot, but it does not work.  Instead, I am forced to simply reset the system and once reset it appears to boot OK without any issues.  In fact I can go a few reboots before once again it decides to break.  Below is what should be one of the logs from a failed boot, in fact, the system is in this same failed state right now as well.

  • Airport Out of Range WinXP

Hello everybody, my problem is the next: I have a Airport Extreme Base Station (AEBS) linked to a netgear DM111 by ethernet cable, so the whole ISP is configured on the netgear and that info passes through the cable to the AEBS making it just a wireless access point, on my 15" and 17" MacBook Pros there is no problem i got internet, printing and disk sharing (all crystal clear) but with my Windows XP machine there's a whole, when i search on the wifi signals i can see my AEBS but when i try to connect to it there is a message that says "the internet base station you want to join is out of range" so i cannot connect to it, please someone could tell me what the cause of the problem could be? should be the channel where my airport is transmitting?
    Thanks

    HI
I don't know if your are using your Air Port Extreme as your main router or not, but in my case I had the same issue and I had to set my Airport Extreme Base Station as a bridge just to use it for wireless since I have 3 win xp laptops since I have a FIOS router
You might want to check the xp pc to see where it’s getting it’s IP address since it might be on the netgear ip address if that is not your main router.
I also had to get the Air Port Express since my laptops could not connect to the Air Port Extreme, just like your issue it could see it but not connect to it
in my case, the problem was that my Airport Extreme, after being fully reset, was on a different subnet than the PC I was attempting to admin from. In my case, all my home computers are in 192.168.0.*, and the Airport's factory default is 169.254.22.something.
    My solution is as follows:
First hook up a cable(Network Cable) from the laptop/PC to the express
    1) Open Network Connections->Local Area Connection->Properties->Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties
    2) Write down the current settings from the Express card
    3) Change the IP Address to 169.254.22.5 (doesnt matter as long as the first 3 numbers match the Airport, and the fourth is different). I left my subnet mask at 255.255.255.0 and the gateway at 192.168.0.1.
    4) Hit "OK" on two windows, the internet connection should be temporarily down but the Airport Admin should now be able to connect.
    5) While changing your settings, make sure the Airport will have an accessible IP address, either through DHCP or manually setting it to be on your subnet.
    6) make the changes and update the Express changes, it should connect at which time remove the cable
    7) Return to the TCP/IP Properties on the PC and restore the original settings
    Hope this helps

  • Repost: Oracle VM Manager (IndexError: list index out of range) error

The Oracle VM Manager software will not import a server side created VM for management purposes. It is giving an index-out-of-range error when trying to retrieve the Memory Size from the jumpbox.xen file (I created a symbolic link to this file called vm.cfg).
Here is the log for the index-out-of-range error:

    Hi Ravi,
the error is due to the componet JAVA(TM) 7 which is not supported.
Better to run JAVA 6, I'm running the update 33, you can download it from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre6-downloads-1637595.html
    Remeber to remove JAVA &
Go to control panel --> add remove programs and remove JAVA (TM) 7.
    It will solve the problem.
    Ciao,
    Massimo

  • IP out of range error

I am a tech support rep for a local fixed wireless ISP and I have a customer that is using a WRT110 router. We use static IP addresses for their WAN connection, however the range we use for this particular group of customers is within a private range of 10.255.x.x
This is a brand new router, and, having done this many times before, I usually walk the customer through configuring the router over the phone. Many of the routers  our customers have are Linksys brand, therefore, I can usually get them set up without having to use screenshots or looking at a manual.
When I walked this particular customer through, I had him input the Internet IP address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, DNS1 and DNS1. Then I had him click Save Settings to which he gets an error stating the IP address is out of range (0 - 254). Obviously, the second octet is the problem being 255 and out of range. I had the customer reset the router to factory defaults hoping this would resolve the issue but he gets the same message.
His connection works fine plugged directly to his computer with the same IP information and he actually swapped a bad WRT110 that would not connect up no matter what we did. But that WRT110 did take the IP range (coincidence?)
I know we can switch the range on the private IP but that is not feasible because that would include having th recreate the routes with the different IP addresses and reconfiguring 100+ customers in the area. I am hoping there is an easy solution to this like, "go here, and uncheck this box."
I've gone cross-eyed reading the manual without finding what I am looking for.
Again, this is for the WAN Internet IP address and not the LAN side.
Any help or direction is appreciated.

Something you may want to try.  I had to save a setting for a broadcast address on a different model Linksys.  I believe a friend suggested I disable java scripts in the browser before I attempted to save the settings.
It was a couple of years ago, and on a different model, but it worked.
