MC* structures in LO-LIS application component

Hi All,
i need to block development on MC* structures placed in package MCEX. This structures are somehow conected with BW extractors, and also shared with logistic.
Once some developer modifed this and all extractors failed. Is there any chance to block development on this kind of structures? or at least on LO-LIS app component?
My goal is to allow developers to change them, but only when confirmed with BW team, so when he starts to change this it should be somehow blocked, but with possibility to unblock when neccesary and confimred. Thanks in advance for replay,

Check with Basis if they can restrict the access to the Authorization object 'S_DEVELOP' field 'DEVCLASS' value 'MCEX' , field 'OBJTYPE' value 'STRU', field 'OBJNAME' value '<NAME_OF_STRUCTURE>, field 'ACTVT' value '02'. In which case, every time you have to provide access / deactivate access you will have to contact basis for authorizations.

Its always possible. We did our Custom application for Service desk Using Work Centers. We have copied existing SLFN content to ZLFN done changes as per the requirement.

Error: No valid application component hierarchy exists in RSA5

Hi Gurus,
We have recently installed SAP R/3 for BW. when i get in to RSA5 i am getting error message "no valid application component hierarchy exists" . Do i need to do any settings here. When click enter later on, i can see all the data sources under new_hier_root.
And under new_hier_root i have unassinged notes
New_Hier_root -> unassigned notes -> application components.

first we need to transfer application hierarchy.
try this one SBIW>Business Content DS>Transfer Application Component Hierarchy or RSA9.

SAP R/3 application component issue

Hi all,
My issue: SAP R/3 application component hierarchy node in RSA6 got saved in $TMP package as local object. When iam transporting the request from Dev to QA this hierarchy is not getting transported and all the application components in ECC QA are assigned under not defined node as individual node.
Not only this when i replicate the data sources in BI side in QA these data sources are replicated but come under unassigned nodes because of the missing main node.
So can any body help me in removing this main node from the $TMP folder and save this in a transpotable package to transport that to QA ECC and the same to replicate in BI.

This issue iam facing in ECC side. Unless untill i transport this application component hierarchy all my application components in ECC QA will be under a not defined nodes.
So please suggest me the approach to resolve this issue.

How do I grant non-logged in user access to application component?

I want to make the customization page for a report available on
our portal available to users without them having to log on to
our portal. I thought I set up the access rights to the
application component correctly, but the link takes them to the
login screen instead of the customization page. Can anyone give
me an idea of what I may have set wrong?

You say they are still logged in after a restart?? if you open task manager and look under users are the session aside yours listed?

Can not create an Application Component on SAP R/3 system

I have a source as SAP R/3 ( ECC 6.0 ) and Target as SAP BW 7.0
a)Log on to SAP BW 7.0 and used the ID3CLNT400 source system , by using Modeling --
> Source System -- choose Customizing Extractors from the context menu of the source system ID3CLNT400
In the transaction SBIW on the SAP Source system , choose the Business Information Warehouse -- > Post Processing of DataSources
 > Edit DataSources and Application Component Hierarchies.
Choose the IMG Activity Here , I am getting one warning.
"NO Valid Application Component Exists"
When I hit the continue button .
Here when I create an Application Component and SAVE the changes, I am getting the following error.
Package "Z_Train" doesnt exists. Chose "Display Object " or "Cancel"
Because of this , I couldnt creat an Application component and also couldnot load any thing on the SAP BW side. Also , I am no way connected to the "Z_TRAIN" Package

Diagnosis
Currently no application component hierarchy ("APCO_MERGED", database table RODSAPPL and RODSAPPLT) exists in the system. This is required in BW so that the DataSources can be displayed correctly in the source system tree.
Procedure
Copy the application component hierarchy from the Content using transaction RSA9.
In development system I went to RSA9 & transferred the application componet then its asks or pkg name I have given the pkg name also before use the datasrcs , I have transported the same thing to production before transporting the datasrcs but in production the application component herarachy did not get transported I think that why its giving the msg No valid application component hierarchy exists but my datasrcs got transported ,pls suggest me what has to be done
Should I import the same request in to production again
Or shall I run rsa9 again & transfer the application component hierarchy again & transport it to production id I do this will already transported datarscs have any effect in production

Application component does not exist in source system

hello all,
I was check the datasources in RSA5 but i cant see any application component hierarchy ...
all i can see is unassigned nodes...and all the datasources are under these 'unassigned nodes'
Could anybody tell me why its like this and what we can do to fix it...

Run RSA9 to transfer it, and then you should see it in RSA5.

Accommodate structure changes in Budget Application for each year

every year our cost center structure changes to accomplish that we are creating New Budget Application every year . Cost center structure is divided in to Area then region and then csc. These Regions never stays under same Area they change it every year
can anyone suggest out a way to do it in only one Budget Application instead of creating new Application every year ?
How can we Accommodate structure changes in Budget Application for each year?

Assuming the cost centers stay the same, and only the hierarchy of the dimension changes, it's really quite simple.
Export the level 0 data, clear the database, update outline, import the level 0 export file, agg database. You should now have the new totals.
All of this can be done in place without the export/import of data as well, but it is a good practice to export/clear db/import the data for defrag purposes.
Some things to consider, if the organization will want to compare year over year company totals...
1. They need to create some governance around newly inactive cost centers, usually you create some sort of "Inactive" parent in the dimension and when they are no longer active they need to be reassigned to this "inactive" parent. This will ensure that at least the company total stays the same.
2. Following #1, they need to understand that the year over year totals will may only be accurate at Company total (including the Inactive rollup) and at cost center.

Here you will get the link from Application Component to Package
Application Class - Packet
Package - Devclass
Then if you go into Table <b>TADIR</b>
and give the following input
PGMID = R3TR
OBJECT = LDBA
DEVCLASS = package name
you will get all the Logical Databases for that Application Component.
Here obj_name will be the Name of the LDB's

I have created one custom defined master data in SAP R/3.I need to replicate it in BW.So I need to create one application component by own.is it possible to create custom application component instead of assigning it to SAP R/3 application component?.

To my knowledge you cannot create an application component of your own. Assign it to an existing appropriate app component.

Data Source and Application Component

Dear Experts,
I am a beginner of BI and I create a Data Source but I forgot to create an "Application Component" beforehand.
Now I create an "Application Component" individually and trying to drug my "Data Source" to the "Application Component", but failed. It is said that a drug and drop will be ok but I found it is not working.
So my question is:
How to put the Data Source under the "Application Component" ?

Hi All,
How do I download Webdynpro ABAP application(component) on desktop(hard drive) from SAP system? I couldn't find a feature in SAP that I could use to achieve this functionality. Also after downloading the Webdynpro ABAP application(component), I would like to upload it back into the SAP system. Any ideas?

Unable to see the Application component 0PA_PD

Hi BW Experts,
I am able to see the application component 0PA_PD under application component PA in our development system. I have activated a data source under 0PA_PD in the development system. I then moved the data source to our test system (R/3). However in our BW test system, I am unable to see the application component 0PA_PD under PA in the modeling and hence am unable to replicate the data source in the test system.
Could you please advice what I have to do in order to see the application component in the test system.

I did replication of the top application component PA but still the 0PA_PD did not show up.
I also ran the RSA9 and still the 0PA_PD did not show up under the PA. Other application components like 0PA_BN are appearing under PA but not the 0PA_PD.
I checked the test R/3 system and the data source is available under the application component 0PA_PD. But somehow the 0PA_PD is not appearing on the test BW system.
Please help.

Adding an application component - missing something obvious

Hi,
We just upgraded to portal (running server and portal on windows nt) and I am developing. We have reports already completed in reports 6i. However, I am having trouble adding them to the pages or even in the "other providers" listed in portlet repository. The report is connected, as when I click on "edit" and then "run," it runs. I just don't know what I need to do so that the report shows in the "application component" when I click on "add item."
I am sure that I am missing something obvious. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How to transport Application Component Hierarchy of source system

Our BW pulls data from CRM.
In CRM Development, all content/generic datasources are placed under specific nodes in Application Hierarchy which I can see in RSA6.
But all these datasources exist under NODESNOTCONNECTED node in CRM-Quality !!! How can I transport application component hierarchy ??
Any idea?

If your application component hierarchy is assigned to local object then first you need to change the package.
Go to TCode: SE03
For Object Type Selection use: DSAA
Object: APCO
Now change object directory from $TMP to the one being used in your porject.
Also check OSS notes:

For changing the paackage:
Go to TCode: SE03
Select option Change Object Directory entries (Under Folder Object Directory)
In the next screen you box Selection by Object you look for the 1st emptly line
Or you can also click on create object directory button
In the Object type box (Small box for 4 chars) type in DSAA or you can also do F4 and find it..
Then in the box next to it you put in the Object Name
In this case it should be APCO (if this does not work try apco_merged)
Select it and hit execute...
OR
try se09 - choose workbench request - cursor position on request, menu - request/task->object list->include object->freely selected objects
under 'selection by type and name' choose 'selected', mark the checkbox on last blank line, and give 'dsaa' and *
in next screen, cursor on 'apco' and click icon 'in request' (include in request), do the same for 'apco_merged'.
release the request and transport.
