McAfee Site Advisor is not working.
McAfee Site Adviser 3.2 is not appearing in the Status Bar of Firefox Beta 4. When I open the Add-ons Manager in Tools there is no option to "enable" the extension. I have downloaded the latest version and it appears in IE, but not Firefox.
Anyone having a problem with this extension?
McAfee doesn't usually support the beta versions of Firefox. You might want to see the McAfee support forum to see if that is still the case.

Most security software only supports the current release and even that can take some time after Firefox has been updated.
If you expect Firefox to work properly all the time then you should stay with the release version and to use nightly builds that are updated every day or weekly in the case of the Beta channel.

The McAfee site advisor used to work before with earlier versions of Firefox but now no longer does since upgrading to the latest version. It still works with Explorer so it a Firefox version compatibility issue with McAfee. The PC runs on Microsoft Vista.
I am sure that it is only their toolbar that is incompatible. To verify that and ask if they currently support Firefox 5 with their add-ons, go to the following address and post your question(s). Changing their toolbars to be compatible with any browser is their responsibility.

Other than the toolbar, the rest of your security application should be working as expected, but you can also ask that question at the above link. Firefox has built-in malware/phishing protection, if that is what is provided by their toolbar, another question that you can ask at the above link.

Does exactly what it says on the tin innit
McAfee have taken the decision to rewrite the Firefox SiteAdvisor plugin to make it easier to update. This should ensure that Mozilla's fast-release schedule does not cause lengthy delays after future version updates. What it means for Firefox now though is that until the rewrite is complete - and tested - SiteAdvisor is being prevented from loading in Firefox in order to avoid the possibility of software incompatibility.
The SA rewrite is projected to take a few weeks to complete and test; it should be ready by about the third week of July, although the exact date is not being given at this stage. It could be earlier.
In the meantime, users who are concerned about the safety of websites may wish to consider WOT as a temporary substitute. WOT ratings are set by user consensus rather than by automated site testing, so WOT is not a full replacement for SiteAdvisor. It is, however, a good rating tool in its own right (I use both it and SiteAdvisor in all my browsers) and is apparently unaffected by the upgrade to FF5.
There is a discussion about this on the McAfee forums [https://community.mcafee.com/message/194743#194743 HERE] -
I downloaded the newest version of firefox 4.1 and now mcafee site advisor does not work. I would like to download an older version of firefox
Have you tried getting an update for that from McAfee?

When will firefox 4.01 be compatible with McAfee Site Advisor?
I get pop-ups offering the latest version of Firefox (4.01) but when I go to install it, it warns me that my McAfee Site Advisor will not work with this new version. Can you tell me when you expect the new version of Firefox to be able to support use of McAfee Site Advisor??? Thank you for your time.
Check with McAffe for an updated version of the Site Advisor extension.

McAfee told me the current 5.0 version is a beta version, which is why Site advisor will not work with it. They also told me they are not updating site advisor anytime soon. So when will Firefox be updated to a complete and compatible version?
Due to security vulnerabilities, rolling back to Firefox 4.0.1 is not recommended. Firefox 3.6.18 would be the safer choice.
Here's the process to roll back:
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
Close Firefox 5.
You could install Firefox 3.6 over it (many have reported success) or you could uninstall Firefox first. If you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.
Unless you have installed an incompatible add-on, Firefox 3.6 should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details. -
My McAfee site advisor is missing since I upgraded firefox, can anyone help
Hi, I updated my laptop with the latest version of Firefox this afternoon. Since doing that my McAfee Site Advisor isn't working.
Does anyone know what I can do to recover this.
Regards and Thanks
ArthurThe McAfee Site Advisor 3.3.1 extension was the number 2 cause of crashes in one of the Firefox 5.0 betas and Mozilla Blocklisted it. That extension is disabled in Firefox 5, Firefox 6.0beta, and Firefox 7.0alpha versions. McAfee is working on a new re-written version of the Site Advisor extension to fix their problems - ETA is mid to end of July.
When will McAfee Site Advisor be available on FF5?
Downloaded FF5 and was advised that McAfee site advisor was not compatible . I rely of this feature. Whose problem is it to fix--yours or McAfee? And when will it be fixed?
An alternative add-on:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/wot-safe-browsing-tool/
Mozilla blocklisted that add-on due to it being the #2 cause of crashes in the Firefox 5.0 beta versions. Mozilla contacted McAfee and discussed the problems the Site Advisor was causing prior to adding it to the blocklist. ''(it has been causing problems for many years now, it has been known as one of the most problematic extensions ever since McAfee bought that extension from the original developer)''
McAfee is building an all new add-on, which they say should be available during the 3rd week of July.
IMO, the Site Advisor extension just duplicates features that are already built into Firefox since Firefox 2. It uses a different database and adds a few "bells & whistles", but given the problems is has caused over the years, it is unnecessary. -
McAfee site advisor is important to me and the new Firefox 5 does not allow it's use. Can you please let me know if I can use previous version of Firefox and how can I get download.
Perhaps you could e-mail me when problem has been resolved and I can then return to using Firefox which is my preferred browser. In the interim I shall use Internet Explorer which permits site advisor Thank-youThe McAfee extension was blacklisted due to be a #2 top crasher and McAfee has been working on fixing their toolbar for a month now and it may be ready in 2-4 weeks.

Hey I finally got an older vesion of itunes to work!!! 10.7 x64 for windows 7
After uninstalling all apple products even quicktime
I had to delete everything from (program files, and program files x64, program data,)
And all downloads from apple, and I went in to search deleted other stuff from apple, and itunes
But definently not my itunes library and Playlist
Down loaded 10.7 x64 for windows 7, but checked (do not start when done)
Then I emptied my recycling bin and restarted my PC
I ran geek tech tool box same as reg cure pro, also PC Tools registry cleaner, and CC Cleaner
Then I emptied my recycling bin and restarted my PC
And wallah... It finally works, and I Love the older version anyways.
Easier to download and transfer music!!!!! -
I do not know much about add-ons so I don't know how to get around this without losing McAfee Site Advisor.
See McAfee for an updated version of that Site Advisor add-on. Hopefully they have it completed, as they have been promising it for the 3rd week of July ever since Firefox 5.0 was released on June 21.

Firefox 5.0 won't work with mcafee site advisor-will this be fixed soon?
When I downloaded firefox 5.0 it checks for incompatible add on etc. and it deleted mcafee site advisor which shows which web sites are safe to use. I went back to firefox 4.0 because it works with site advisor. I'd like to use the newest form of firefox, but want mcafee site advisor enabled. Will this be fixed?
It will work again if McAfee does a full update...

I should have been warned that McAfee Site Adviser would no longer be available with this new version, especially since I paid '''hard earned''' money to McAfee to have this feature. I would not have downloaded this new version had I known ahead of time.
Can I revert back to 3.6?Use WOT (web of trust):
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/wot-safe-browsing-tool/
Its a way better alternative to McAfee site advisor simply because its open to everyone and supports every browser. Trust me downgrading to 3 is not worth the benefits of McAfee.
