MCS-7815I-2.0-EVV1 Upgrade

I have been asked to upgrade the HDD from 40Gb to 72 or 80Gb on an MCS-7815I-2.0-EVV1, in order to load CM5. Does anyone know of a part number that I can obtain for this. CCO has no information.
thanks in advance

The part number for the 80Gb drive is HDD-7815-I2-80=. See the following link for confirmation.

  • Lock-ups on MCS-7825 after after OS Upgrade to 2000.4.4aSR6

About 3 weeks ago, I upgraded some MCS-7825 & MCS-7835 servers to 2000.4.4aSR6. Since then, one of the 7825's has been rebooting on its own almost twice a day. The other 7825 and 7835s are operating fine.
Anybody else encountering a problem with this? I see in the release notes, some BIOS and firmware updates are included for the 7825, and am suspecting this is the problem.

My problems actually turned out to be hardware, I think. I reviewed the logs and found out it had been happening for several months.

  • DMM upgrade 5.2 5.4

    Hi Pros,
We are in process of planning an upgrade of DMM server from 5.2 to 5.4.
I have questions if someone can help answer...
    1) We have existing MCS7835-H3 which is listed as supported by DMM 5.4. Does upgrade to DMM 5.4 have to involve installing it in VMWare or is it applicable only to fresh 5.4 installation.
I am assuming that 5.4 can be upgraded on current server without VMWare. Is my assumption correct?
    2) Do I need to upgrade DMM server as 5.2 to 5.2.1, then 5.2.1 to 5.2.2, then 5.2.2 to 5.2.3, then 5.2.3 to 5.3 & finally 5.3 to 5.4 or can I directly upgrade from 5.2 to 5.4 or 5.2 > 5.3 > 5.4?
    Upgrade guide just mentions 5.2 > 5.2.1 > 5.2.2 > 5.2.3 > 5.3 > 5.4. Its not clear to me.
    3) What will be impact on current data on the DMM server. Will it all be able to convert or any special precautions (real world) to be taken.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Pratik

    Hi Pratik,
I am afraid that you have to go step by step from version 5.2 till 5.4
    As mentioned by Cisco, for MCS-7835-H3, the supported upgrade path is 5.2 > 5.2.1 > 5.2.2 > 5.2.3 > 5.3 > 5.4.
I know it is painful but in such a way you guarantee a very smooth upgrade.
Make sure to take a backup of all the content, and make sure as well to connect a keyboard, mouse and screen. You will need it during the upgrade process.

  • Recommended UCS blade for Unity?

The Design Guide for Unity virtualization outlines the templates for Unity on VM but it doesn't mention UCS blade recommendations.
I'm looking to migrate Unity 7.0(2) to UCS/VM and then upgrade to 8.0(3).  The MCS servers aren't worth upgrading memory for the software upgrade, and particularly when we have UCS blades available.
Is there a recommended blade for Unity?
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • How does pacman handle major software releases?

Hi, to make the question clear.
When for example one has xfce 4.4.2 installed and xfce 4.4.3 comes I assume the upgrade is fairly straight forward since everything in the "meta-package" remains the same.
However, when a major release with big changes comes that's a different issue. The settings up to 4.4.3 where managed by the "mcs-manager" package, but in the upcoming
release the settings will be managed by the "xfce4-settings" package, therefore the old mcs-manager won't be upgraded, but unless told the new one won't be installed,
or will it be? And will the old one be removed or will remain there on the hard drive?
Well, that's the question. I'm not asking to implement a feature or complainig, I just want to know what to expect, and if it's got to be done by hand so be it. It's not that hard.
    Thanks.

I disagree with brisbin33. Pacman doesn't check for new members of "groups" after they're installed. There really is no such thing as a "group" once those packages are on your system so I don't think it will detect new packages in the group unless they're specified as a dependencies of other packages, which won't be the case for all packages in the group because that would force the user to install all of the them, thus eliminating the point of having groups to begin with.
This would be solved by having a true way to track installed optdepends so that we could create true metapackages. I've made a suggestion (http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/12708) and so have some others, but it seems that this is not even on the todo list and most of the influential users/devs seem directly opposed to making any such change, even if it means living with the permakludge called "groups". (and yes, I would submit a patch, if I knew C or could hack my way through it well enough)

  • Upgrade Unity Conn from 8.0.(2) to 9.1(2) and migrate from MCS to UCS...

    Hello Ladies and Gents .
Currently I have a cluster of Unity Conn. 8.0.2 on MCS.
MCS have an arrangement of two disk. the cluster is supporting 2.5K users.
My doubt is about the OVF for UCS.
I've made the upgrade to 9.1.2 but I used the ovf template of 10K users (4vCPU / 6GB RAM / two 146GB vDisk)
Now I got the DRS backup and I will do the last step. a fresh install of 9.1.2. and restore the DRS backup in the fresh install.
Can I use the DRS backup ( 2vDisk setup) with the OVF template of 5Kusers (2vCPU / 6GB RAM / one 200GB vDisk)?
    Thanks
    AM

    Hi Jaime,
    Thanks for your prompt response.
So there is no problem if I restore a DRS backup of a CUC with 2vDisk, into a fresh install with1vDisk?
I just want to be sure that my question was clear.
    Thanks Again

  • DMA options when upgrading on new MCS hardware

    Hi,
Customer has Publisher and a single Subscriber running version 4.1.3 SR1.
Customer requires upgrade to 6.1.2 using new MCS hardware. I want to make sure that I use the correct method for
upgrading to 6.1.2 on the new servers.
This is an overview of how I plan to carry out the upgrade:
    1) Backup existing Publisher database using BARS
    2) Install 4.1.3 SR1 on one of the new MCS servers which will be the Publisher
    3) Install BARS on the new MCS server (using same version of BARS that was used to backup
current Publisher database in step 1)
    4) Use BARS Restore to restore the database of the existing Publisher onto the new one.
    5) Install DMA on the new Publisher MCS server.
    6) Run DMA to export data from new Publisher.
Is the above the correct way to export data from the current Publisher
I'm wondering (that instead of carrying out the above method) if I should export the data directly from the existig Publisher ie by installing DMA on the existing Publisher then running DMA export. This would save me a lot
of time as it means that I don't need to carry out steps 2) to 6). I don't know if this is a feasable option.
Please could anybody who has done this type of upgrade advise me on which method they used for DMA?
Are both methods feasable - I could not find any details on CCO
    Thanks
    Gurmakh

You cannot use BARS for this
    I just did this:
    1) Install DMA on current Publisher - requires reboot
    2) Run DMA on current publisher - Note the publisher cannot do any call processing during this time - Took me about an hour and a half. Note that if there are errors you may have to fix them before you can use the file and rerun DMA. If you get errors I would open a TAC case to see if they need fixing.
    3) Put the DMA output file from step 2 on an FTP server (I think you can also burn it to CD)
    4) Use the 6.1(2) to start the install on the new hardware. During install it will ask you if you want to import old data, say yes and point it at the location of the data
    5) Complete the install
    6) Your done...

  • Upgrade Call Manager from 8.5(1) to 10.5(1) and migrate from MCS to UCS...

We are upgrading UCM from 8.5(1) to 10.5(1) and migrating from MCS to UCS. We used UCM 8.5 OVA (7500 user) and migrated to UCS.
Once migrated to UCS we upgraded UCM to 10.5(1). We wanted to use OVA to accommodate 10,000 users, hence took backup of 10.5(1) cluster and installed new servers with new 10.5(1) OVA (10,000 users).
While doing DRS restore, system we were not able to perform a restore. It seems UCM is not recognizing the XML file. It is strange as we took the back from UCM 10.5(1) and trying to restore same version, only difference is upgrade was done with 7500 user OVA and we are now trying to install 10,000 user OVA.
Has anyone run into similar issue? any help will be great.
    Thank You.

This thread is 5 months old but doesn't seem resolved...
I ran into this same scenario last week. Was using the same SFTP server for backups and restores during migration from 7.1(5) to 10.5 and during final rebuild/restore of the "to-be" production 10.5 Publisher, the DRS server was unresponsive and blamed the Master Agent or SFTP server. I had restarted Master and Local agent repeatedly, and regenerated ipsec certs to no avail.
TAC suggested I try a different SFTP server (which I already had, with the same files), and try deleting the .xml files that were included with the backup (drfComponent.xml and processhost.xml). I installed TitanFTP, per TAC's recommendation, deleted the processhost.xml file, regenerated the ipsec certificate one last time, restarted DRF Master, and then DRF Agent, and was able to start a DRS Restore.
Try the above process if you're still having issues.

  • What is the procedure of Call Manager upgrade from version CUCM 7.1 (MCS Server) to version CUCM 10.2 (on UCS server)

    Hi
What is the procedure of Call Manager upgrade from version CUCM 7.1 (MCS Server)  to version CUCM 10.2 (on UCS server) , please let me know the steps to what would be the backup procedures and upgrades.
    Regards
    Gaurav

I'd suggest reading this guide to make sure you have prepared your environment to support 10.x first. The link below also contains the upgrade path to 10.0(1).
One of the ways you can do this is:
1/ Apply refresh upgrade cop file on all servers in cluster.
2/ Upgrade the cluster to 8.6(2). Take a backup of the cluster.
3/ Build a cluster of 8.6(2) servers on VMs, and assign them the same hostnames and IP address as the hardware cluster. (You may need to keep these on a separate network until switching off the hardware machines)
4/ Restore the backup taken from the hardware cluster on to the VM cluster.
5/ Upgrade VM cluster to 10.0(1).

  • Upgrade from MCS 7825 - Licensing Issues

I have a MCS 7825 installed at my office.  Since cisco has declared an EOL for the above product, we need to upgrade.  We have been suggested 7816 I4.  I have the following queries.
    1.  Is the 7814 I4 a good replacement for 7825?
    2.  We have some 7912 IP Phones with us.  Can they be used with 7816 I4.  If so, what are the licenses that we need to buy?
    3.  Is video conferencing possible in 7816 I4.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Depends, if you plan to have more than 2 servers then no.
When using 7815/7816 the only supported deployment is 1+1 and cannot be mixed with other models in a cluster.
If you're going to have only 1 server or 2 tops then you can use.
BUT most importantly, that model only supports 300 users. 7825 supports 1000 users.

  • Cisco OS 2000.2.7 does not support MCS 7825I1 ?

    Hi Pros,
I have a new installation coming up of CCM 4.1.3 & Unity 4.0.5
Seems Cisco has sent wrong set of OS Cds for CCM. The Server is a IBM make (MCS 7825I1) with Prescott 3.4 CPU & 2GB RAM alongwith 2 * SATA 80GB HDD.
When I insert Hardware Detection CD for 2000.2.7 it says "This OS version does not support the detected server. Remove the disk and press any key to reboot.
    My BoM says:
    CM4.1-K9-7825= SW CallMgr 4.1, MCS-7825 2
    MCS-7825-I1-IPC1 HW Only MCS-7825-I1 with 2GB RAM
    and SATA RAID
    2
Can I install like this - Run IBM ServeRaid, Prep server, Insert Win2k cd, then after install run OS Upgrade 2000.2.7
    Will this work?
    Regards,
    Pratik

i am not sure why the CPU speed should matter.......
I don't know what to say, if you have the "a" hardware detection disk, this should work. I have never had a problem once i had the right media so i will step aside and wait to see if someone else can help.

  • License Issue from MCS 6.1.3 to UCS 9.0

    Hello all,
We are upgarding CUCM from 6.1.3 MCS to 9.1 UCS. Our plan is to jump from 6.1.3 to 6.1.5 to 9.1.
We took backup of 6.1.3 MCS via Disaster Backup Recovery & restore it at UCS after new installation of 6.1.3.
We contacted cisco licensing team to issue us temporaray license for 6.1.3 for UCS so that we can proceed to upgrade process. Cisco issued us license but we are not able to install it successfully. Its giving attached mac-address mismatch error.
We contacted back to license team again & they confirmed there is no issue in license file, its some thing with the system.
Can any one advise what could be wrong with system. I am sending the output from system, screen shot of error & license file.
    Please advise.

  • Problem with installing CUCM on MCS-7816-I5

    Hi to all.
I have a problem with installing CUCM 8.6.1 on new MCS-7816-I5  (IBM) hardware. The problem is that installation loops in restart after upgrading MCS firmware. Actualy, installation does not sucessfully upgrade firmware, so every time it detects old firmware and trying to upgrade it.
I also tried update MCS firmware with downloaded Firmware Update Utility 3.6.5 CD from Cisco downloads, but it also fails.
Does anyone have idea what's going on? Is this a Cisco failure or IBM server failure?

    Thanks,
    Sinisa.

    Hi Sinisa,
    It almost sounds like this bug;
    CSCtn81201
Incorrect "Hardware Configuration Error" due to hardware setup errors
    Symptom:
Refresh upgrade stops with IMM device detection, and then server being reported as unsupported
    Conditions:
in-band USB interface was disabled, which is configurable via IBM system X or IMM (browser) interfaces.
    Workaround:
change the in-band usb interface settings to enabled.

  • CPU Upgrade on Toshiba Tecra M3

    Hi,
I just finished refurbishing my Toshiba Tecra M3 (64MB Nvidia 6200 model) which had been dead for 6 months. Basically it had the mainboard changed (applied new daimond thermal grease over GPU/CPU due to overheating issue), new screen installed, new 160GB Samsung 5400 HDD and body plastics refursbished too and at present its working like a charm and as new condition inside out. The system currently holds a Pentium M 750 CPU (1.86GHZ) and I'm aware that such models supports up to 2.13GHZ. I have tried to replace the CPU with a 2.0GHZ Pentium M 760 SL7SM model however upon boot up, laptop powers up fine to bios but pwoers down soon after. Any idea's what the issue may be? The BIOS has been upgraded to 1.50 (latest version)
    Thanks for any help.

Hi again, just managed to solve the issue by myself. I have resetted the mainboard from the bottom (aside VGA heatsink), reinstalled again latest version of BIOS i.e 1.50 and now I can run my Tecra M3 on a 2.26GHZ CPU (Pentium M 780).
P.S Currently averaging a 60deg temp CPU at high usage. Not that bad for the BBQ warrior.
