MD04 - Planning time fence for materials that are planned externally

Hi,
I have to develop a report in R/3 which will pick up values from MD04 (for a particular material/plant combination) and show the output in ALV grid of materials which are not planned in R/3 but APO.
It should also show the planning time fence.
For example, if i goto MD04 in R/3 and enter a material-plant combination which has MRP type X0 (external planning), it doesnt show me the planning time fence.
This value/row has to be picked up from APO.
Any idea how to go about it and what are the Function Modules I should use or is there any alternative for this ?
Regards,
Anand.

Hello Anand,
Try looking at user exit in MD04 that can change the values in MD04. Then, check for material-plant type of the order. If it is X0, call RFC to APO function module to read the information you want.
I have develop before a report in R/3 that read the correct time of an order in APO to be displayed in R/3.

  • Z report for materials that are lying as rejected material - sent to vendor

    Dear All,
i have to create a report where my client is suppose to generate a report of :
scenario:  all materials that are rejected in quality inspection is to be sent back  to vendor. now what happens is sometimes 50 materials are rejected in one month and 100 in second month. so total 150 materials should be sent but due to human error 75 materials are not sent. So a complete report of the same of which material were sent and which not .
    pl discuss....

    Dear Ritesh,
lets simplify,  just my client want to see a report of list of materioals that have been rejected and not sent to vendor. I real time scenarios materials get rejected in Q- inspection. Now the rejected materials are sent back to the vendor. What happens is due to human error they kept lying in the plant premises for quite a long time that were supposed to be sent back. So ex:  x kg of materials were rejected in the month of june. That means X kg has to ben sent back to the vendor to be rectified. Now if y kg was sent where x>y , that means x-y should be lying in the plant that is not sent . A report for the same.

  • MF50 : Planning table and planning time fence

    HI,
I use the transaction MF50 as planning table ( in order to do my MPS planning), I use "set firming date" to fix a firming date.
Now, I want o know if it should possible to reveal a message when we create a planned order within the firming date??
    Thanks for your answer.

    Hi,
For clarity , I am describing  below the functionlity of Set Firming date is explained as below:
By setting Manual Firming date , we extend the planning time fence.
If a planning time fence has been created for a material then the following applies:
If the manual firming date lies before the end of the planning time fence, the planning time fence is still valid.
If the manual firming date lies after the end of the planning time fence, the planning time fence is extended until this date.
All order proposals with availability dates that lie before the end of the planning time fence of the manually extended planning fence are firmed for the planning run, if the materials have an MRP type which contains firming type or firming type 1 or 2
The system does not automatically firm order proposals for materials that have an MRP type with firming type 3 or 4, even if their availability dates lie before the end of the planning time fence or manually extended planning time fence.
Please check if this helps you.

  • Planning time fence

    Dear Expert
I have mantained PPDS planning time fences in product master view as 5 days .And i have created sales order and i have triggered GATP  planned orders are generated . after saving sales order . I have triggered GATP again I am getting new planned order which should not happened  Because as per PPDS planning time fence planned order with in that period are fixed .they should not change
Please correct it If i am wrong

    HI  Marius
    It is good notes
But i am facing problem with my only finished material ,all my sub assembly materials are having fixed planned orders but finished material planned order is getting changed
I have assigned ppds planning time fence for 5 days
By F1 help i have got below note  it is creating little confusion
    Note
You can specify a time fence interactively in the product view. It may override the planning time fence in the following way:
If the time fence is after the end of the PP/DS planning time fence, planning is fixed until the time fence.
If the time fence is before the end of the PP/DS planning time fence, planning is fixed until the end of the planning time fence

  • Link Planning time fence with planning calendar

    Hello,
In MD04 transaction, we can see the planning time fence lign. In my system, the planning time fence lign is calculated based on the plant calendar (SCAL transaction).
But, we will like to calculate the planning time fence based on the planning calendar (MD26 transaction) and not on the plant calendar.
I mean, when I close a period in the planning calendar (MD26), I want that the system establish the new planning time fence lign based on the planning calendar.
Does anyone know if it's possible? If yes, how should I do ?
    Best regards,
    Gwen

    Hello Gwen
The planning time fence is always calculated according to the factory calendar defined at plant level.
If you are using a periodic lot-sizing procedure with a time fence, system may generate replenishment proposals outside the planning calendar dates, especially if you are using a goods receipt processing time. If you want to make sure that the dates will be always according to the planning calendar, you may check the following modification note:
    397870
MOD:Procurmt propsls on non-dely date due to plng time fence
If you want to create your own logic to calculate the time fence, you may use the BAdI MD_MRP_PARAMETERS.

  • Planning Time Fence Value

    Hi Team,
I would like to maintain planning time fence value in material master. I do not have any clue that how to determine the value for the planning time fence. Some where i read that the planning time fence value will be the interval time between two MRP runs (ie, if i run MRP four days once, 4 days will be the planning time fence). Is this logic work out? Any guidance to determine the planning time fence for the material?
    Thanks

    Hi Mariano,
Q1: By implementing Time Fence, you are losing flexibility, so this goes against the service level, so is not going to avoid cutting sales. However, sometimes you still need to use a time fence in order to provide some stability to your supply chain (maximize the use of your production capacity, coordinate the component replenishment with your vendors, etc..).
Your statement is: "By implementing planning time fence, you are losing flexibility".
"Losing Flexibility" means, if there is sudden sales requirement (Eg: Emergency sale order), accordingly the manufacturing plan will NOT be smoothened. Do you mean this as "Losing Flexibility"?
For your information, i am using strategy group 40 for my FERT item. The strategy group 40 will be mainly used to smoothen the manufacturing plan according to the sudden sales requirement. Implementing strategy group 40 & planning time fence together for a material will be AGAINST of each other know?
    Coverage Profile:
    Your statement is:
Q3: As coverage you can use different methods: coverage profile, safety time, safety stock, etc. The coverage profile is a key that needs to be predefined in advance. I will try to simplify the explanation. Suppose that your coverage profile says that you want to have 10 days of target coverage. If you have a constant forecast of 1000 CS per month and you have 20 working days in a month, this 10 days of target coverage will mean that you want to have 500 CS in excess of your forecast. So the MRP will plan to start the month with 1500 CS (1000 CS of forecast + 500 CS of coverage).
According to you, the MRP will plan for 1500 CS instead of 1000 CS for the month. But for that particular month additional 100 requirement has come as emergency sale order. How to handle this? My requirement is "How to handle (cater) the emergency sale orders effectively in ECC?" Will "Back order processing in SD" can help to cater these kind of emergency cases?
    Thanks

  • Internal Transfer, BOD, Planning Time Fence and ASCP Reschedule suggestion

    Hi,
we've an ASCP plan with 5 ORG. We've many items with BOD like this one:
    BOD of ITEM X:
    ORG 1 BUY
ORG 2 TRANSFER FROM ORG 1
ORG 3 TRANSFER FROM ORG 1
Using this rule, we set PLANNING TIME FENCE for Buy items, at about 0,7 * LEAD TIME (from the approved supplier list) in BUY ORG (S01 in this example)
and PLANNING TIME FENCE = 0 in TRANSFER ORGANIZATION.
Sometimes, we release Internal Requisition to transfer item in excess from other organization to organization S01 to avoid Purchase Order not needed. In this case, the plan will suggest to reschedule OUT the internal requisition and if the planning time fence is large, people at the internal shipping department, will not see this Internal Req because they work in short range date.
Furthermore the ASCP plan will reschedule out all the Discrete job and planned order pegged to this suply.
This problem originate because we implement the reschedule out suggestion from ASCP over internal req ( we've a custom for this). How can ve avoid the Plan suggest to reschedule out this Internal Req? Maybe we can use the Profile "FIRM INTERNAL REQ INSIDE PLANNING TIME FENCE?".
Someone know if there are other ways?
    Thanks in Adnvance.
    Giacomo

    Giacomo,
Usually, clients use "MRP: Firm Internal Req Transferred to OE" to keep internal requisitions from being rescheduled by ASCP. This would mean that any IR that has created an ISO would be treated as frim by ASCP. The intent is that since standard ASCP cannot reachedule ISO/IR orders, that you prevent these reschedule recommendations.
Since you have intentionally implemented a customization to cancel/reschedule these orders, this may not work for you.
The other profile option that you suggested; "MSO: Firm Requisitions Within Time Fence" was intended for purchase requisitions. It may work for internal requisitions, but you'll have to test. If it did, it would only work for the organization that is recieving the IR. You had set the PTF to zero (0) in that organization.
I suggest you try the combination of this last profile option with a PTF value that you do not want to see any reschedules.

  • Planning time fence vs total lead time

    Hi Gurus,
we have a scenario like the below in the unconstrained plan. Trying to understand various dates on the PWB. could you please explain.
    1. Item is a Make item and it's planning time fence attribute is set as Total Lead time.
    2. Processing lead time of the item is 25 and fixed lead time is 2
    3. ASCP is suggesting a planned order on PTF date which is exactly 25 days from now.
    4. But the suggested start date of the order is only 2 days less than the suggested due date. This is the point we are not able to understand. We have set the processing lead time as 25 so, isn't the planned order not supposed to have the start date as today?
    Thanks
    Mahesh

    Dear,
    Please refer this link,
    [Planning time Fence|Planning time fence]
For sales order will convert to a specific production order use CO08 here define order type as ZP04.
OPKP ( Production Scheduling Profile) whether ZP04 is assigned under Order Type or not.If not maintain the same and then assign the same Production Scheduling Profile in Material Master in Work Scheduling view.
Also in In OPPQ or OPPR you have to define order type as ZP04 under conversation indicator use when in MRP run MD50.
    Please try and come back

  • Capacity levelling Auto release at planning time fence

Is it possible to have a background report run which will convert process orders to released process orders when they reach the planning time fence?  I can set planned orders to release when converted to process orders automatically but this is not what i want as it removes any flexibility in CM29 plans.  I don't know how to set this up and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on how i could do this.  Thanks.

    Hi Sam,
to do what you ask, you need a custom report (Z).
I do not know standard report that do this.

  • Difference between Stock Transfer Horizon and Planning Time Fence

    Hi Experts,
Could you plz help to explain the difference between stock transfer horizon and planinng time fence?
Appreciated your professional input to address my confusion.

    Hi Gavin,
The stock transfer horizon is used in SNP planning, it is the time period within which SNP does not create any stock transfer requisitions.
The planning time fence is used by PPDS planning. It is the time period within which the PPDS planning does not create any orders. The orders lying within this period are considered to be firmed by the PPDS planning.
Functionally, the stock transfer horizon/ production horizon in SNP are analogous to the planning time fence in PPDS, which provide the system ability to keep the plan firm/unchanged within this period.
    Hope this helps!

  • Scheduling Agreement & Planning Time Fence

    Hello,
I read a lot of articles on Planning Time Fence and the MRP Types P1 to P4 that goes with it. And I have tested it out in a Testing Environment.
But I can't get it to do what I need.
This is a normal planning with no PTF and MRP Type PD.
Sometimes we have false requirements that show up in the past due to human error. When this happens, MRP rolls during the night and adds a bunch of deliveries in the past to cover the requirement.
I wanted to use the PTF to prevent this. Meaning that extra deliveries would get added by MRP but after a PTF and not Firm deliveries. So that once the error is corrected, MRP rolls again and deleted all the extra deliveries it added.
** Only P2 and P4 adds deliveries after the PTF, but I need it to act normal on a day to day basis aswell and have MRP create deliveries like the print screen above. To add non-Firm deliveries after the PTF is just in rare cases of human error.
Not sure if my explanation is clear.
    Patricia

    Hi Patricia,
The planning time fence is there to stop MRP from making changes to requirements that fall within the planning time fence.
Your planning time fence is a rolling period which shifts by 1 day each day and is calculated as of the current date. Yesterdays date is passed so it would not make sense for a planning time fence to use a date in the past to start it's calculation.
Everything that falls before the end of the planning time fence will not be changed by MRP and you will see that all these schedule lines in MD04 will have an * assigned meaning they are firmed for MRP.
If you manually add schedule lines in the past, the planning time fence will not stop you from doing this. The planning time fence will only stop MRP from making changes.
    By the way:
If you manually add requirements to the scheduling agreement then MRP will never change these requirements as these are fixed requirements.
If your customer would add requirements in the past or you add independent requirements in the past and your current stock does not cover the requirements the system will generate schedule lines and will put these directly after the planning time fence with an exception message assigned to them.
    As a side note:
I always wonder why such questions arrive in the forum as this is something that can be very easily tested in the test environment.

  • Planning Time Fence and Rescheduling Purchase Req

Please provide me a Step by step procedure with example to Reschedule the Purchase Req with given rescheduling date.
*Really I am confused with PLANNING TIME FENCE.
What it does with Planned Order and Purchase Req ?
Based on the some of threads in SDN, I couldnu2019t come to the conclusion of the terminology behind PTF.
So could you please provide me an explanation with example will make clear idea on PTF.
    Thanks in Advance.

    dear friend,
as far as i know, all planned orders that lie in the planning time fence are firmed. that means that they can no longer be changed automatically by the system in the planning run in long-term planning.
outside the planning time fence, the system creates order proposals as usual according to the shortage quantity and the lot-sizing procedure. once these planned orders move into the planning time fence, they are automatically firmed depending on the how you have set the firming type.
the planning time fence can be defined per material in the material master record or via the MRP group.

  • Planning Time Fence Use with MRP

    Hi,
I was wondering if planning time fence has use with an MRP type without a firming type. Basically, SAP says it is only used with the MRP contains a firming type. However, i thought the planning time fence is also used with SAP. For example, i can tell MRP to only plan materials outside of the planning time fence. Anyway, just looking for further insight or clarification.
    Thanks, Erik

    for automatic firming ,
you need to maintain a MRP type related to firming , while running MRP , system will firm the order with in the planning time fence, & based on the firming type, any new requirement system will plan according to the MRP type
Firming type 1- P1 or M1. The date of new order proposals that are actually created in the planning time fence are rescheduled out to the end of the planning time fence. Therefore, these new order proposals are not firmed.
Firming type 2- P2 or M2:  The system does not create any new order proposals within the planning time fence. That is, the shortage situation is not adjusted within the planning time fence.
Firming type 3- P3 or M3: Order proposals that lie within the planning time fence are not firmed automatically. The order proposals required to cover the requirements are moved to the end of the planning time fence.
Firming type 4- P4 or M4: Within the planning time fence, the system creates no order proposals automatically. That is, the shortage situation is not adjusted within the planning time fence.
    Manual firming
you can firm the planned order in MD12

  • Managing planning time fence ( P1 MRP type ) and firm zone in ME32L

    Hello,
I want to know if there is or are some documents to know how to manage planning time fence in MM02 and firm zone in ME32L ?
For me, in ME32L the firm zone is the firmed quantities sent to suppliers but not firmed for MRP so how to manage this easily ?
    Thanks.
    Romeo.

    Dear,
Firm ZOne in SA, says that that much qty will be procured from that vendor with in that date specified, if not taken the production cost and cost related to that will be paid.
Now the planing time fence, is the time with in which no change is allowed. Hence if there is any new requirement to that RM, then it will be pushed to outside the time fence.
Hence if there is a schedule line which is already there and requirement is coved with in that, then your requirement is met, if not system will create a new schedule line in the trade off zone/planning zone.
I hope you got the point.

  • HELP: Planning Time Fence Control

    Hi,
We have a business requirement where we have Firm Purchase Orders and WIP jobs outside the planning time fence (PTF). We then have new demand for the item coming from SO. When we run MRP, the system is extending the planning time fence up to the Need by date of the latest PO so this means there will be no stock to cover the new demand and we are in backorder!
    Example:
    Item: ABC
    Item Leadtime: 5 days
    PTF: 5 days
    Sysdate : 09-Feb-2009
Firm Purchase Order: 20-Mar-2009 (outside the PTF for the item)
    WIP job demand: 20-Mar-2009
New SO 5000001252 with schedule ship date 17-Feb-2009
To cover the demand for SO 5000001252 MRP is suggesting a new planned order for 20-Mar-2009.
    Plan option:
Profile MRP:Firm Planned Order Time Fence = No
    Overwrite = None
    Append Planned Orders = Yes
Planning Time Fence Control = Yes
Has anybody come across this scenario? How can we force MRP to suggest a Planned Order for the 17-Feb-2009?
Can the above requirement be achieved with ASCP?
    thanks

    Hi
I guess planning is creating time fence on its own called the natrual time fence. It would take the firm supply and create a timefence based on its date until creating new pl order within that period.
Please set profile MRP:Create Time fence to No and recheck
    Best regards
