MD61 backward-forward consumption
Hello experts,
In MD61, my client created a planned independent requirement for a material with a planning period of month.
The requirement now is that they want to implement a backward-forward consumption. Example is that in the last week (W4) of month 1 (M1), an order is created, then it should consume first all the previous weeks in M1 (backwards). Then if all planned quantity are consumed in the past, it will consume from M1-W4 to the future (forwards).
Please advice on what to do. Points will surely be awarded. Thanks in advance!

I want to know what is backward and forward consumption
dear exports
i want to know what is backward and forward consumption , how maintain in mrp view plz reply meHi,
Consumption mode and consumption period are maintained in MRP 3 view .In strategy 40 when sales order is submitted it see the availability of PIR for consumption. The consumption mode decides the way of looking the PIR (i.e. If 3- It will look into forward direction like this) and consumption period states the limitation of looking.
e.g.
If MODE is 3 and forward period is 30 days then the sales order will look the PIR in next 30 days and if mode 1 and period is 45 days then it will look the PIR in past 45 days.

Backward- Forward and Forward- Backward
Hi, all!
Can you explainfor me about +Backward- Forward and Forward- Backward+ in General Setting-> Inventory tab-> Planning.
I don'nt understand it, can you make clealy
Thank you!Hi....
Consumption Method there are two available methods of forecast consumption
by the Sales Order:
Backward- Forward In this method, the Sales Order first goes
backwards to 'consume' the forecast which is closest to the Due Date of
the order and continues to the first day of the range if required (as
defined in Days Backward field below),
After that, if no forecast is found (or the forecast, which was consumed,
was insufficient) the Sales Order goes from the Order's due date and
forward (see an example below).
Forward- Backward - In this case the sales order goes forward to
'consume' the forecast which is closest to the Due Date of the order and
continues up to the last day of the range if needed (as defined in Days
Forward field below). After that, if no forecast is found (or the forecast,
which was consumed, was insufficient) goes from the Order's due date
and backward.
Days Backward - Defines the maximum number of days for the Sales Order to go
backwards in order to 'consume' the forecast.
Days Forward - Defines the maximum number of days for the Sales Order to go
forward in order to 'consume' the forecast.
If you are not yet understand you can search in SAP Portal a note that related to that.
Or if you want, you can send me your email address and i will send you the PDF file about MRP.
It has complete explanation for you to know.

My backward & forward won't work while surfing the internet & bookmarks no longer works
My backward & forward won't work while in the internet also my bookmarks no longer works. I tried the new update & still not working.
This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

I hve a late 2009 iMac at home that I've upgraded to Lion. So far, there are only 2 issues that I'm having:
1 - When I wake the iMac from a long sleep, it doens't automatically log into my wifi network. I have to drag the mouse up to the menu bar, click on the signal icon and choose my wifi network. A few tiems yesterday, the computer stopped recognizing the network while I was in the middle of surfing. Haven't had that in a while, but the inability to log in directly after waking up remains.
2 - I use Firefox to surf. I can no longer move backwards and forwards between pages by swiping left or right. It works in Safari, but not in Firefox. Is that a new functionality that has to be rebuilt into Firefox because of Lion?Caleb was here wrote:
I have a similar wifi problem after installing Lion. When my computer goes to sleep or I turn my wifi off, it won't reconnect to my wireless network. I have to manually select it and then retype my wep password. It tries to connect and then says "connection timeout" and the login failed, however, even though it says that it was unable to connect, it actually does connect and I get regular connectivity. Frustrating.
I have a 15" core i7 2010 MBP.
@Caleb was here. I had the same issue before I switched to Lion, turned out it was some issue with my router. I bought another router and I haven't had the issue since. Try changing from WEP to WPA (you should do this anyway) and see if you have the same issues still. -
Address bar and backward/forward arrow
Somehow the backward and forward arrows have disappeared off of the top of my Safari page, as has the area on top where you would type in an internet address. Any ideas?
Go to menu bar for Safari.
Safari > View > Show Toolbar.
It should return.

Message I'm receiving from Firefox is "The bookmarks and history system will not be functional because on of Firefox's files is in use by another application. Some security software can cause this problem." I have not made any changes on my computer. I did uninstall and reinstall Firefox but bookmarks and history system still not working. I am using the latest version of Firefox on Windows Vista.
ThanksThis indicates that there is a problem with the file that stores the bookmarks and history. Re-installing Firefox does not by default remove the profile folder where that file is stored. Solaris 9 & 10 - driver (backward/forward) compatibility
i have to write a pci board driver for solaris 9, and i have decided to do this on a solaris 10 system, as that is what is freely available. Are device drivers compatible from 10 to 9? The driver needs to support simple pci functions, and some memory mapping for dma.
i have looked everywhere, and nobody seems to talk about this.
thank you,
nachumforgot to mention that the driver needs to run on a sparc, so both the solaris 9 client, and my solaris 10 both are running on sparc workstations.
once again,
thanx

Consumption /Adjustment field in OPPR
Hi Friends
Need your help in understanding the functionality use of the field Consumption /Adjustment field in OPPR
Ie If I plan (PIR) for the next 2 months & Then how can we control the consumption Or creation of any New planned orders
with an example
Your inputs will be really help in getting a clarity on the usage of this field ( Read SAP help on this issue but still not very clear on the functionality , an Example will really help Or atleast some inputs as to how I can create a Test scenario in IDES to study its impact
Thanks & Regards
Sathi BabuHi,
Consumption / adjustment can be used as bellow
For example you use
Consumption mode: 2 - Backward/forward consumption
Consumption Period: Backward 30
Consumption Period: Forward 30
MRP Strategy: 40 in material master MRP 3 view.
You have created PIR with follwing dates / months
Initial Plan
Month : Sep 2009
Qty: 100
Month : Oct 2009
Qty: 300
Now you place a sales order for Qty 50 in the Month of Oct then it will consume the PIRs of Sep 2009 and the balance will be as below
After Placing Sales Order of 50
As per Backword consumption of 30 Days sales order will consume the PIR of Sep 2009 first.
Month : Sep 2009
Qty: 50
Month : Oct 2009
Qty: 300
Now you place a sales order of 100 for the month of Otc 2009
After Placing Sales Order of 100
As per Backword consumption of 30 Days sales order will consume the PIR of Sep 2009 first.
Month : Sep 2009
Qty: 0
Month : Oct 2009
Qty: 250
Hope this clarifies your doubts.
With best regards
Shankar. -
Hi,
In the material master what is backward consumption and forward consumption and other modes of it.
Thanks in advance
hemantHi,
The consumption mode defines whether and in which direction on the time axis from the requirements date the consumption of customer requirements with planned independent requirements should occur. The requirements date corresponds to the date when the sales order items were created. One has the following options.
<b>No planning consumption</b>
<b>Backwards consumption</b> : starting from the requirements date, backwards consumption is carried out within the relevant consumption period.
<b>Forwards consumption</b> : starting from the requirements date, forward consumption is carried out within the relevant consumption period.
<b>Backward/forward consumption</b> : starting from the requirements date, backwards consumption is carried out first. Then if no planned independent requirements can be allocated before the requirements date, forward consumption is performed. Both procedures are carried out for the relevant consumption period.
<b>forward/Backward consumption</b> : starting from the requirements date, forward consumption is carried out first. Then if no planned independent requirements can be allocated after the requirements date, backwards consumption is performed. Both procedures are carried out for the relevant consumption period.
Hope it helps. Please reward if useful.
Thanks & Regards

Hi All,
Can anybody explain me with the examples to differentiate between Forward ,backward and backward forward consumption modes..
ThanksHi Kathik,
As explained by Karthi It deals with the consumptions of PIR by your actual demand(SO).
For example you have a material A & you have entered a planned demand (PIR)
say 100 units for July, 100 units for Aug, 200 units for Sept
Now if you have a SO for 150 for Aug & you have backward consumption mentioned, then the SO
consumes you Aug requirement first ie 100 is consumed, then for the balance 50 it searches
backwards & reduces the PIR for july.
With Forward scheduling the opposite happens. ie your requirements from Sept are consumed first.
when you have both ie backward / forward
you have a requirement for say 250 first your requirements for Aug & July are consumed ie 200 units are consumed, for the
balance 50 it shifts to forward & consumes 50 units form the PIR for Sept.
for Forward/backward
the consumption starts from Sept ie 200units from Sept is consumed & for balance 50 its switches
to backward & as Aug is the first requirement it encounters it consumes 50 units from Aug.
To control the span of time(ie how long back or how long into the future) your PIR needs to be consumed
you use the consumption period. PIR's beyond this period are not considered.
Tried to put it in short.
Hope i have been clear,
may be you can also check the link on SAP help.

MRP issue for future delivery PO/STO date
We have a sceanrio where the available material quantity in MRP list is considering future delivery date STO quantity. The PO delivery date is 08.11.2008 and MRP run date is 07.11.2008.
Step 1, material master details:
Material = 16814, MRP Type = PD, Lot size = EX, Special Procurement = D0 (Stock Transfer), Consumption mode = 2 Backward\forward consumption, Fwd Consumption per = 0.
Step 2, MRP list details , before PO creation:
MRP list before having any purchase order = 191-
i.e, Available qty on 07.11.2008 with a DepReq = 191-
Step 3, Creating Purchase oder (In our case it is STO):
We created one Stock Transport Order on 7th Nov 2008 giving Delivery date as 08 Nov 2008 which is in future. Our plant is receiving plant = y100.
PO quantity = 2
Step 4, Running MRP in MD02:
Processing key = NETCH Net Change in Total Horizon
Create purchase req. = 1 Purchase requisitions
Delivery schedules = 3 Schedule lines
Create MRP list = 1 MRP list
Planning mode = 3 Delete and recreate planning data
Scheduling = 1 Determination of Basic Dates for Pl
Result = PR is getting created for Qty = 189, but our actual required qty = 191 - meaning it is considering the future delivery date(8th Nov 2008) PO qty while creating PR and removing that qty while creating PR's on 7th Nov 2008.
Here we are running the MRP on today (7th Nov 2008). STO delivery date is 8th Nov 2008
Step 5, MRP List details, after STO creation:
Now the PO is coming in MRP list and the available qty is 189-
Earlier stock before purchase order is 191 - after creating purchase order (STO) for future delivery date available qty is coming as 189-
DepReq is still 191- but the total available qty is changing to 189-
We want PR to be created for DepReq of 191 and not 189.In step 2
What is the stock?
If it is PO then the qty cannot be in minus 189
step3
Where are u running MRP? In receiving plant or sending plant and all the steps you are showing for which plant?
It is confusing...
What i can say is in general if it is MTS scenario, then system will always consideres stock + receipt - issues = 0 after running MRP.
If it is MTO, then for each sales order/project segment stock + receipt - issues = 0...
Hence apply your situation in the plant and see the data. -
How PIR's are consumed by the customer requirements even though the sales orders are blocked?
Dear experts,
I am using strategy 40 for material A with Backward/Forward consumption of 60 days backward and 60 days forward.
My PIR is as follows :-
Material Month #1 Month #2 Month #3 Month #4 Month #5 ....
material A 100 100 100 100 100 ....
I created a Sales Order for material A with the quantity of 600 in Day 4 of Month #1.
After MRP run, planned order conversion and production order has been completed.
Month #1, Month #2 and Month #3 PIR's are consumed even though we made the setting in Such a way that the sales orders should just display but not planned . and the sales orders are into the blocked requirements list in the result of /n/afs/MD02.
1)but why it is consuming the PIRS?
2)is there any affect of backward and forward consumption on this?
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Bhargavi DesaiHi,
Normally it is recommended that, not to delete PIR's one by one or remove quantity from previous periods/ requirement manually. If the PIR's of previous month is not consumed it is normally a feedback to sales people to do a analysis at their end.
In PP point of view, normally a re-organization run is carried out by MD74, MD75 or MD76. The same can be done by scheduling batch job to run on month ends basis w.r.t. period you specify.

Dear All,
Can anybody explain what is Netting of Planned Indipendent Requirement?
Regards,
BasavarajHi,
I've never seen this expression in SAP online help / OSS notes. Where did you here it?
There's net requirement calculation in SAP: it means you consider your stock during planning (MRP run), whilst gross requirement claculation means you do not consider your stock level during MRP run - this can be used in MTS environment.
http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/f4/7d27b744af11d182b40000e829fbfe/frameset.htm
In planning strategy 40 SAP considers both PIRs and SOs. SOs consume PIRs based on material master settings (backward/forward consumption). Maybe the expression you are asking is in connection with this (SOs quantities reduce PIR quantities and that's why SAP calculates with the SO quantities and with reduced ("netted") PIR quantities).
http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/cb/7f93e643b711d189410000e829fbbd/frameset.htm
In this thread you can see that this terminology is used for PIR quantities reduced by SO quantities:
Re: Netting PIRs
So, it seems SO quantities reduces PIR quantities and this is called as "netting" (by certain people).

Csaba
