MDBT - Background MRP

Hi Experts,
I have created variant & schedule it daily in MDBT. Schedule start immediate. Then system generated PR for material.
I have maintained MRP type VB,Reorder point as 10,maximum stock level 100 and Lot size HB in material master.
Current stock was 5 then system generate PR for 95 Unit as I expected. I have test this scenario in DEV server.
Same scenario I have mapped in Quality server. But when I start sheduling immediate in MDBT, system do not generate any PR
even if stock falls below min. level
Where is prolem?
Please help.

Can you please tell me what setting & MRP parameter has to check. Because I run same scenario in DEV server and did not found any problem. System had generate PR.
And now same setting & MRP parameter I have mapped in Quality server. But system do not generate any PR.

Hi,
In a variant there are several fields in the selection screen, the variant is saved with a set of these field values.
In the case of MDBT, you can create several varinats for different materials or Plants and then execute those varinats whenver you need.
Basically the varinat caoncept is associated with Back ground jobs and also user specific entries.
Suppose every time you do not want to repeatedly enter the same field values , you can use these varinats.
Reward if you like it.

Reg:Background MRP Job

Hi friends,
i want to set background MRP job for my client.(Scenarion-MTO)
when they recieve the sales order then only the design people will prepare the BOM (TAKES 2 to 3 days to prepare BOM).
Now if the sales people create the sales order today..design people take 2-3 days to prepare BOM.
if i set daily MRP, the system wil genrate Planned order for incomplete BOM.
can we change the incomplete planned order BOM to our requirement...?
or is there any option in background tto restrict the creation of planned order for sales orders without complete BOM.

It is possible , if you keep the Schedule Line Item categoery in VA02-SCheudle lIne -CN-No MRP.
Or you can goto Reason for rejection option in Status field in VA02.
Just to add on that , in case of MTO cycle ,there are following steps :
1.Logging Enquiry for customer -VA11
2. You will logg Quotation-VA21 frist and will carry out the Unit costing if you do not able to finalise the BOM till the design gets approved or customer finalise
3.Then you will logg sales order based on the approval from custmer with refernce to quatation .At that point , you will be having BOM and routing based on design so that Sales Order will capatured the planned cost estimate .
4.Now , if you run MRP with out having any BOM , there will be any componenet planning execpt the header material .
But , if you have prepared you BOM after running MRP frist time and go back to sales order -VA02-Carry out Costing ( Sales Order -Extras -Costing -All green Flag ) and then finally realse the Dynamic credit check in vkm3 for next MRP run in MD02.
Here in the next time , you need to run MDO2-NETCH , 2,1,3,3 ( Delete and Re-create planning ) so that BOM will be updated with relevent planning of depedent .

Any difference setting background MRP run in MDBT and SM37

Hello,
Just wander if there is any differences setting up MRP run in MDBT or in SM37 to run RMMRP000? This is to run MRP at plant level in background.

Hi,.
Both MDBT & SM37 are having same program (SAPLBTCH) . MDBT is Foreground job as well as Background job.
SM37 is only for Background job only.
Pls let me know any further clarification.

Background mrp in mdbt

i want to run mrp in background for my new plant.
i created variant for that plant and sched weekly and also i defined parallel processing in MRP. but mrp happened without selection of material???
there is no error msg in list of scheduled request...

Hi Prakash,
In MDBT transacton choose the variant & then click the "Display scheduling" tab. Check the status against the date, if it is "Finished". Then choose this row & click results.
Now choose the ABAP List icon under "Type". Here the MRP run result will be displayed.
Check the processing key used, If this is the first time then use NEUPL, else set as NETCH & then run.
If MRP is active for the plant & planning file entries exist, then the materials in the plant are to be considered during MRP run.
You can check the MRP run results for a single material using transaction MD02/MD03.

Change in background MRP time with EDI scenario for sale order booking

Hi All,
              I have a scenario where Sales orders are booked through EDI. Now because of some reasons duplicate orders are getting booked in SAP. Now users are manually deleting the duplicate sales orders.
          Now MRP is running at Night with duplicate orders in background. So users wanted to run MRP after deleting the duplicate SO.( i.e. during office Hrs)
         Should i change MRP timings to suit the user requirement? what will be the pros & cons if change MRP timings.will it throw errors in EDI.

If you change the MRP run time for periodic job in MDBT it would not affect any where only system will create the procrument after MRP run only.
Please try to find out the reason why duplicate orders are getting booked?

How to stop Background MRP ?

Dear All,
I have run Plant MRP in background by MDBT for every minute.
that's why system is taking MRP run at every minute.
I have tried to stop it but it doesn't stop & caring out the MRP in background for every minute.
Please give me valuable input to stop it.

Vijay,
Use transaction SM37, in the intial screen input the program name and job name and execute the transtion with "Scheduled" status check box active. Once you get the scheduled job go to change mode from menu bar Job--->Change or Ctrl+F11. In the change job screen hit the "start condition" function button and here you change the frequency of this the periodic job.

MDBT for MRP Controllers

Hi Friends,
Kindly let me know the procedure to run MRP in background(using MDBT) for materials based on MRP controllers. I know that it can be done using "User exit key" & "User exit parameters" in MDBT but not sure how to do it.

1.Mostly standard SAP has 2 standard setting for the user exit key
a.ICL Include specified MRP controller in planning run
b.EXL Exclude specified MRP controller from planning run
2.So based on your requirement you need to set this..
3.So give the user exit key as ICL if you need to include specified mrp controller ,in the user exit parameter give the mrp controller number.
4.schedule thejob.
5. Now this background job will run only for the materials which has the speciifed mrp controller

Background MRP Run Some times Planned orders are not generating.

We run MRP in the background at plant level once in a month. Some time we do not get planned order for the material in MD04. Than we run MRP (Selected material only) manually through MD01 considering MRP control parameter 13132.Than only we get planned order. Plesae let me know why it happens? Please give your comments on this.

Dear Kundan Kumar,
First check the output list or the results of MRP run in SM37,find out for how many materials it has
throwned out error,I hope in this list you can find out the materials.
Then the next step you have to check once again the material master settings.
Instead of running in MD02,first check whether was there any issue in master data,or if this happening
repeatedly for the same materials and work around.

Unfirmed purchase reqs not getting cancelled in the background MRP run

Good morning,
The system has created Purchase requisitions for 2010 due to the setting in the MRP run. we want to change it to planned orders outside the Vendor lead time and when i run a REGEN MRP with setting 2 (Purchase requisitions in opening period) its not happening. When i run indivudual MRP with MD03 with the same setting its alright, purchase requisitions are deleted and its converted into Planned orders. Can anyone please throw some light on to make backgrouond MRP run delete the Purchase requisition and create planned orders.

You must delete the offensive PRs first. Regardless of the MRP settings, MRP will still decide that the PRs are valid and will leave them alone. It will not 'change' them into planned orders.
Run Regenerative MRP with your new settings (Create purchase reqs as '2') but also run your MRP in planning mode '3', delete and recreate planning data. It will delete all existing unfixed purchase requisitions, and then run MRP.

MRP run for multiple sales order items

Dear All !
In our business, in one sales order there are at least 40 -90 items. for MRP execution we have to do it line item by line item. Can it be done colletively for the sales order for all items.

There is no Sales order header level MRP, so the only option left is to run MD01 or MDBT background MRP.

MDBT : MRP RUN Problem

I have one storeage locaion for which i want to tun MRP run in backgruond .
Now i have cerated MRP area (STORE) as stoarge location asssigne th erespective storge location there.
Now i created scop of planning & i assigne tthat MRP area as "STORE"to scope of planning.
Now cerated varaint as "CONSUMPTION"and in scope of plalning i selcetd the scope of planing as my MRP area and saved the variant .
Now all material under this area are cinsumption baed material means everyone has MRP type as VB, reordre point and lot siza as HB, max lot qty and STORE as MRP area in material master.
NOw in MDBT i selcted the variant and click on start inmmediate i m getting mesage as "Request with variant CONSUMPTION Started"
If i see MD04 til no requirenment is genrtaed with this Run ??
1. Please tel ..where i ned to corect
2. Is there any mesage after background MRP executed ;like in MD02 planning result screen .

Please check whether planning file entry exists in MD21 also check MDAB & MDRE ?
or run program RMMRP000.
Please note With MRP type VB (Manual Reorder Point Planing) system will not consider Dependent requirement or any other reservation.
It will take care about only Reorder point.
If You have set reorder point of 100 Nos.
And dependent requirement is of 35 Nos , and available stock is 90 Nos. then at the time of MRP run system will generate PR of 10 Nos only just to cover that less qty than the reorder point of 100 Nos.So there is nothing wrong in your case.
If you want to concider Dependent requirement also during Planing run then you have to change MRP type VB to PD then check.

i am setting Background MRP in our project where no materials are planned even though reqirements are for some materials, but if i run MD02 for material which is having req. in that plant its planning.

First set the planning file entry
In MDAB,
Create a variant - with plant as a input and Save the variant y clicking on attribute push button.
In MDBT create a variant as below
Enter the correct plant in which you want to do the planning, if want to do for more than 1 plant then you need to have scope of planning defined in IMG, if required pl come back
Processing key - for the first time only - NEUPL, from next time - use - NETCH
Create purchase req. - 1
Schedule lines - 3
Create MRP list - 1
Planning mode - 1
Scheduling - 1
Planning date - current date
Save the variant y clicking on attribute push button
Do the above setting let us know the result.

MD03- Run MRP for all the material

Hi Expers,
How to run the MRP for all the material in the Plant.In Transaction MD03 we can have the option for entering the only one material at one time.If we have 10000 material then do we have to run the MRP for 10000 time?

Scheduling Background Jobs for MRP
Transaction code : MDBT
click Create Variant button (specified a variant name and click continue).
Then fill in the following fields :-
Scope of Planning         : Optional (refer to Note if you want to specify a plant grouping)
Plant                             : Your company Plant
Processing Key             : NETCH
Create PUrchase Req. : 1
Schedule lines               : 1
Create MRP lists          : 1
Planning mode              : 1
Scheduling                    : 1
Planning date                 : default date
Click the Back button and you will be prompt Save Values.
Type in a Description and click the Save button.
After creating the variant, park your cursor at the variant and click the Schedule job button.
Fill in the Date and Time value.
Click Schedule periodically and you are prompt to choose the period.
Click the Create button and you are done.
To check, you can click the Show Scheduling button.
Note :
Define Scope of Planning for Total Planning in 'OM0E'.
1. Choose New entries.
2. Enter a key and a description for the scope of planning that you would like to define. Save your entries.
3. Select the scope of planning and choose Sequence of plants/MRP areas.
4. Choose new entries and enter the plants or the MRP areas in the sequence in which they are to be planned.
    The counter determines the sequence.
5. Save your entries.

For MRP, the main Customization settings involved are:
1. Activate MRP and Set Up Planning File - OMDU
2. Define Parallel Processing in MRP - OMIQ
3. Define Scope of Planning for Total Planning - OMIZ
If you want to use MRP Areas and include this in Scope of Planning then.
1. Activate MRP for MRP Areas
2. Define MRP Areas - OMIZ
With MDBT of Program : RMMRP000 you can schedule the Background MRP Run. (with a variant)
